A New Page

First, I’d like to recognize today’s importance for our nation and offer congratulations and nothing but best wishes of success to our new President, Barack Obama. I know Dad was overwhelmed by the graciousness showed last night at dinner honoring his service to our country. I’m also making the first of several announcements about my plans for 2009 and beyond. Beginning this week, I’m going to be writing segments on www.TheDailyBeast.com. Daily Beast was founded by Tina Brown who wrote the 2007 New York Times best seller  The Diana Chronicles . Tina is the former editor of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker magazines among others. I will be writing more in depth articles about topics and opinions of the day at Daily Beast while I keep the Blogette for my personal experiences and annecdotes. I hope you’ll book both and read my first feature there by clicking here . It’s a very revealing sit down conversation with Mom I think you’ll all find very enlightening. Post Inaugural

Here’s a photo of my parents and brother at the inauguration. I also just posted an interesting video interview with Mark McKinnon, one of the consultants who worked on Dad’s campaign. Click here to watch now over at The Daily Beast. I’m really enjoying being a part of The Daily Beast. It’s the right mixture of edge and substance. Please let me know what you think! Today on the Internet

Hey everyone. I know it’s been awhile since my last post. It’s been a pretty crazy month. I just posted a new articles on The Daily Beast you can read here about the state of Republicans on the Internet. I’ve been surprised at the amount of media its received. It certainly has raised the awareness of the issues so I’m glad the conversation will continue inside and outside the GOP. In other news, I’ve been invited to speak at the Log Cabin Republicans convention in April. I am thrilled to have been asked and I am looking forward to it. I’ll keep you all posted on planning for that and on other items as they come up. Song of the Day: “Their Cell” by Girl In a Coma

The World’s a Better Place When It’s Upside Down Playlist

Hey everyone, So, I know it’s been forever since I posted a playlist. And like always, this is what has been rolling around my iPod recently. I am OBSESSED with this band “Girl in a Coma” and the song “Their Cell” is one of the most melodically beautiful songs I have heard in a long time. The lead singer’s voice will captivate you like it has me! The title of this playlist is from Gabriella Cilmi’s “Sweet About Me” which I have been singing to my sister, Bridget, recently. I promise more posts and pictures coming soon! xoxox

Sleep with the Lights On

What’s Up Everyone? Things are pretty crazy right now. I leave for New York this weekend to do a bunch of media for The Daily Beast . I will be on CBS’s The Early show and Hannity on Tuesday. I will be on Inside Edition and Extra on Wednesday. So everyone tune in! Reminds me of the old days of doing press for the campaign. I still cannot believe the reaction to my recent articles on the “Beast” and I want to thank all of you for keeping tabs on my writings there. Your support means the world to me and I am so very, very grateful. I love writing for them and I highly suggest everyone visit the site. It is the perfect combination of politics, current events and pop culture (and everyone knows how much I love the combination of politics and pop culture). All the people that work for the site are very cool and it is a privilege to be working for Tina Brown. I will be taking pictures and blogging about my little trip to NYC. From there, I head to DC to see my parents and brother, Jack. I’ll be sure to share what’s going on. It is no secret DC has never been my favorite city, but I try and keep an open mind during every trip. I can’t help that I feel very blonde and very “west coast” whenever I visit… Right now, I can not stop listening to this song ” Phenomena ” by the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. It is the song at the end of the movie “The Ruins” which is officially one of the scariest movies I have ever seen! Anyone that wants a good horror movie should rent it immediately. It gave me nightmares for days! And I finally am using Twitter. Anyone that wants to follow me can go to www.twitter.com/mccainblogette . Love, Meghan P.S. I am still trying to figure out what tattoo I should get to commemorate my time on the trail. I feel like I am finally ready to commit to some new ink. So far “McCain” in gothic letters on the back of my neck is winning my unofficial survey. Please write in with any suggestions and I will take pics when I finally chose an artist to ink me up! P.P.S. The title to this post is from the lyrics to “Phenomena”… get it now!

Reg Traviss: Amy Winehouse’s New Boyfriend

I’m all about dating someone hotter than yourself or at least upgrading if you had a lapse in judgment and dated someone fug or who doesn’t have his or her sh*t together, and it seems that Amy Winehouse is doing just that.

Natalee Holloway Suspect Joran Van Der Sloot, Wanted For The Murder Of Stephany Flores Ramirez

Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the Natalee Holloway disappearance in Aruba, is now wanted for the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramirez. Stephany is believed to have been brutally stabbed and wrapped in a blanket by van der Sloot before he checked out on Sunday. Her body was discovered in the hotel room today. He may have gotten away with murder once, but it doesn’t look like he’s getting away with it this time. First, they have to find the little f*cker! Joran flew to Peru from Colombia to play in a poker tournament at the Atlantic City Casino in Lima and checked into the Milaflores Hotel on May 14. Cesar Guardia, the head of the criminal investigation unit of the Lima police, said there is ‘incriminating evidence’ that links van der Sloot to Stephany’s murder. Guaria says they also have surveillance video that shows Joran and Stephany together in the casino Saturday night. The couple was last seen entering Joran’s hotel room around 5 a.m. and he checked out of the hotel alone around 9 a.m.. Joran was last seen catching a bus to Chile on Monday. Stephany’s murder comes exactly five years after Natalee Holloway disappeared on May 30, 2005.
