Bret Michaels Is ‘A Gentleman And Friend,’ Says Ratt Drummer

Bobby Blotzer wishes his friend ‘speedy full recovery,’ as Michaels remains in intensive care. By James Montgomery Bret Michaels Photo: George Napolitano/FilmMagic Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer has known Bret Michaels for nearly a quarter-century, and in that time, he’s had more than his fair share of good times with the Poison frontman. But when Michaels was rushed to the hospital last week after suffering a brain hemorrhage, the memories of those good times took a backseat to genuine concern for his friend’s health. Bret Michaels’ Career In Photos In a statement to MTV News, Blotzer said that he was shocked to learn of Michaels’ hospitalization, and hoped that his friend would recover quickly. “The news of what happened to my friend of 24 years, Bret, came as a shock and with much anxiety,” Blotzer said. “Bret is a gentleman and friend to not only his peers and close personal friends, but to all fans and people around the world. Speedy full recovery soon!” As of Wednesday (April 28), Michaels remained in the intensive care unit at an undisclosed hospital, where he is in stable condition. His father told “Extra” that he had recently spoken to his son and that he sounded “a little slow, but fine.” According to a statement posted on his official Web site Michaels has been undergoing a battery of tests while in the ICU, and that, as a result of the stroke, he has been diagnosed with a condition that could lead to severe seizures. “Test results indicate a setback in Bret Michaels’ condition, a side effect from the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia; a lack of sodium in the body which leads to seizures,” the statement reads. “Due to the severity of his condition, Bret Michaels continues to remain hospitalized in an intensive care unit at an undisclosed hospital.” Michaels, 47, was taken to the hospital late Thursday night, after complaining of severe headaches. Doctors eventually discovered that he had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage , a survivable but serious stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain. Gang Starr’s DJ Premier ‘Salutes’ Guru During Two-Hour Radio Show

DJ also questions Solar’s claims about Guru’s health during final weeks. By Jayson Rodriguez Gang Starr’s DJ Premier and Guru Photo: Capitol Gang Starr ‘s DJ Premier took to the SiriusXM satellite airwaves over the weekend to salute Guru, his late partner in Gang Starr , during a lively tribute show that featured calls from original members of the group and Guru’s nephew, and plenty of memories of the late rap star. Preemo, who released a statement about Guru’s passing late last week, was upbeat throughout his weekly two-hour radio show. The producer shared his experience of visiting Guru in the hospital, recalling how taken aback he was at the sight of his sick friend. The anecdote, like many of the statements throughout the night, was coated with underhanded shots at Solar, the controversial figure who worked with Guru in recent years and took care of him in the rapper’s last months . “When I saw him, it really f—ed me up,” Premier said during the show. “When I saw him, it was so ill to see — because from what I was hearing about him waking up and tweeting, there’s no way [he could have done that]. He looked so gone. “And on top of that, if you with him and you love him, why did his nails look longer than a ruler? And he had an afro. I’ve taken care of people in the hospital: you can wash their hair, clean their nails off, or clean their feet. His feet were swollen, his toenails were really disgusting, so because of that it really f—ed me up. I went in there and took the logo of my shirt off, rubbed it against his whole body, and then I told him a message from me about how much I loved him. We were for life and we’ll always be for life. Then I kissed him on the face to let him know that I’m gonna miss him, because he looked like he was already gone.” Gang Starr, as a group, hadn’t released a project together since 2003’s The Ownerz. Premier and Guru reportedly were estranged at the time of the rapper’s death. In Guru’s last testament, a “farewell” letter released via Solar , the rapper allegedly directed some harsh words at his “former DJ.” Premier, however, declined to address the comments in the statement he released last week, saying he would cherish his memories of their time together and “never remove him from my heart and soul.” Premier praised Guru many times during the show, which he stressed was a “salute” to Guru’s life and musical contributions and not a tribute to his untimely passing. Premier also said that Guru’s body had been cremated last week and the ashes returned to his father in Massachusetts. Guru’s nephew, Justin Elam Ruff, who first alerted fans to the divide between Solar and the Elam family via an emotional YouTube message, called in to thank fans for their support. Big Suge, who appeared on Gang Starr records throughout the years, told the story about the group’s formation. Originally, Suge wanted him and Guru, who then called himself “Keithy E.,” to go by the name Gangster. But Guru suggested the two, along with Suge’s DJ brother, tweak the name to have a positive slant — and thus the Gang Starr Foundation was born. What do you think about DJ Premier’s tribute to Guru? Let us know in the comments! Chris Jakubauskas Confined At Hospital After Hit During Game With Houston

Lithuanian-American Chris Jakubauskas, pitcher National League Pittsburgh Pirates, was hit by Houston Astros “The Big Puma” Lance Berkman near his right ear during the first inning last Saturday in Houston. Jakubauskas was immediatelly carted off the field and was examined by Astros team doctor David Lintner.  He was then sent to the Methodist Hospital for further tests. According to the Pirates, Jakubauskas would be confined at the hospital overnight for observation. The team was awaiting X-ray results. The 31-year-old Jakubauskas was called up from the minors on Friday and was making his first start of the season. Berkman drove a 1-0 pitch back to the mound and it hit Jakubauskas in the head. Jakubauskas fell and the ball bounced all the way back to Winsconsin-born catcher Jason Jaramillo. Medical staffs from both teams ran to the mound as Jakubauskas stayed down, repeatedly kicking the dirt in obvious pain. Berkman ran to the mound, joining all of the Pirates infielders. Jakubauskas was on ground for at most 5 minutes before he sat up.  He was holding an ice pack and towel against his face. Jakubauskas was taken off the field on a medical cart. He gave a thumbs up to the crowd, who offered a standing ovation. Right-hander D.J. Carrasco replaced Jakubauskas. Jakubauskas appeared in 35 games (eight starts) for Seattle last season. The Pirates claimed him off waivers in November. Chris Jakubauskas Confined At Hospital After Hit During Game With Houston is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading

One of Britain’s Biggest Baby Born in Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Sharon Needham gave birth to one of the biggest babies born in Britain. 35-year old mom gave birth to a 13 lbs and 15 oz baby Harry through caesarian section at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The baby is the largest to be delivered at the hospital since the computerization of records in 1994. The parents dresses the baby using three-six months old baby clothings for he is so big. Ms Needham and her partner Paul Crossland were stunned when nurses handed them their new baby. The mother of five said: “When the nurses popped him over the curtain we were both speechless. I thought they’d given me someone else’s baby.” She added that there is no history of big babies in the family. Britain’s heaviest newborn to date is Guy Warwick Carr, delivered in Cumbria in 1992 weighing 15lb 8oz. The heaviest baby surviving birth was a boy born weighing 22lb and 8oz in Aversa, Italy, in 1955. Rihanna Stumbled On Stage

thepianopages Rihanna showed of true prowess of professionalism Wednesday night when she stumbled on stage while performing in France.  She continued to sing “Let Me” and didn’t miss a note even her face almost kissed the stage. She managed to land on her feet and soon got herself up. It must be so tough for the Barbados-born R&B singer. Last Monday night, she was rushed to the hospital in Switzerland for an injured broken rib after a show. She was confined for only three hours when her publicist assured that Rihanna was fine. Her show in Zurich was unusual for musica reasons when she diverged her pop-rnb to sing Oasis’ “WonderWall” one notch lower and invited the audience to sing along with her. Her publicist hasn’t commented on whether her spill in France and her Swiss-hospital scare are related, but fans surely hope there’s nothing wrong with Rihanna-especially since her extensive Last Girl on Earth tour doesn’t wrap up until late August. By Larry Carroll Bret Michaels Photo: Nancy Mazzei In the immediate hours following Bret Michaels’ hospitalization for a brain hemorrhage, his fans have been poring over various websites looking for a hopeful update on the Poison frontman’s health. Now, encouraging word has leaked that Michaels may be better off than initially feared. TMZ is reporting that Michaels is “awake, in good spirits and talking” as of Friday evening (April 23). This information comes from Ambre Lake, the season-two winner of Michaels’ “Rock of Love” reality show. TMZ reports that Lake has spoken with people close to Bret who say he’s “stabilized and conscious.” Lake’s status update on the 47-year-old hair-metal legend is said to coincide with another unidentified “Rock of Love” contestant who is in touch with the other members of Poison. Michaels was rushed to the hospital late Thursday evening, where doctors discovered he had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage, a rep for the singer confirmed to MTV News. “After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause [of the hemorrhage],” the source told People. “[It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation.” The next 24 to 48 hours are considered critical for Michaels, and he will be closely monitored by the staff at the undisclosed hospital. Most recently, Michaels has been a contestant on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” Related Videos The Poison And Bret Michaels Video Playlist Related Artists Bret Michaels
