Wiz Khalifa Contemplates Success In ‘The Race’

The Pittsburgh MC talks about his new Rolling Papers today at 4 p.m. ET on MTV’s ‘Rapfix Live.’ By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Steven Roberts Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Through hard work Wiz Khalifa has risen from heralded underground rapper to hit-making star in the past year, and he addresses his ascent on his new album, Rolling Papers. On the I.D. Labs-produced track, “The Race,” the Pittsburgh lyricist takes a smoke-filled trip down memory lane. “I’m in the race and taking the winner’s place,” he waxes melodically on the song. “No foot on the breaks/ One of the best, homey, that’s what they call me/ It’s lonely at the top, ain’t no company/ So now I just stunt on my own, I just stunt on my own.” “It’s a personal song without being too preachy,” Wiz told MTV News about the track as he celebrated his album’s release on Tuesday. “It really just explains how I feel at certain points. Just doing work, anyone can feel like that when you grinding from the bottom and get to a certain point. You see people who, in the beginning or middle, were riding with you, then there’s some adversity, and at the end of the day, it’s about who’s with you in the end.” After being tapped as a rising star by Rolling Stone while he was still in high school and putting out a series of mixtapes and an independent album, the 23-year-old Wiz was soaking up his recent success as he inked his name on copies of Rolling Papers at a Best Buy in Manhattan. “It’s totally exhilarating to see kids lined up outside, screaming, wanting the album and purchasing the album,” Wiz said. “It was actually, like, a year ago that I first started working on the album. “I didn’t really know where I was going, but I knew I was going somewhere,” he added. “To have it done and to see the full vision and for people to be excited about it and the entire buildup, it’s just really magnificent.” Wiz Khalifa makes his second appearance on MTV News’ “RapFix Live,” hosted by Sway on Wednesday (March 30) at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Promises To Brawl During WrestleMania

‘The opportunity to host 75,000 people live for four hours, that’s very special,’ he tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Photo: MTV News When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced his intention — during a raucous appearance on “Raw” last month — to return to the world of WWE to host WrestleMania XXVII , the question for fans was whether the grappler-turned-Hollywood hotshot would get in the ring for the first time since 2004. And in a chat with MTV News this week, Johnson made clear he’s expecting to do much more than simply emcee the event. “I’m going to take my fist and lay it across somebody’s lips and take my boot — which is a size 14, so it’s a big boot — and stick it straight up somebody’s ass,” he told us. “How about that? I say that with love!”

Kevin Spacey Dusts Off His Al Pacino Impression in Official Casino Jack Trailer

Hoo-ah! Back in 1997, Kevin Spacey hosted Saturday Night Live and showed off a number of fairly spot-on impressions: Christopher Walken, Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon and, of course, Al Pacino. As the first official trailer for Casino Jack can attest, over 13 years later, the man’s still got it — at least when it comes to Pacino. Though if you’re asking yourself why Spacey does a Pacino impersonation in the middle of a film about D.C. lobbyist Jack Abramoff, you’re not alone.

How Much Does a Bravo Judge Get Paid?

As we all know by now, Bravo is an aspirational network for arts-loving gays, tattooed chefs, and sociopathic Botox addicts, and you might think that in light of the wealthy demographic the network attracts that it would take good care of its stars. Not so much, reveals art critic Jerry Saltz , who served as the most outspoken judge on the hopelessly addictive summer series Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. “I certainly did not do it for the money — I made in the mid-three figures per episode — or the hours,” he wrote in New York . Is this why the Watch What Happens set costs six dollars? [ New York ]

127 Hours: Danny Boyle, James Franco and the Little Tool That Could

If you’ve been living under a smallish, dislodged boulder for the past few months and want to be completely surprised by what happens in Danny Boyle’s harrowing, uplifting, abusive, exhilarating, calculating and exceedingly clever 127 Hours, stop reading now. I mean it. Because you won’t want to know that in 127 Hours James Franco, as real-life mountain climber Aron Ralston, cuts his own arm off with a — OK, that I’m not going to tell you, because I just don’t want to spoil the effect of seeing this unassuming if somewhat diabolical-looking implement for the first time.
