The beleaguered Moneyball is going to need a new cinematographer, as its DP Adam Kimmel was arrested last week on charges he sexually assaulted a child in Connecticut. Kimmel (whose credits include Capote , the Spike Jonze short I’m Here , and the upcoming Never Let Me Go ) was already a registered sex offender in New York, and since his Thursday arrest, a sweep of his house brought further charges of criminal possession of a firearm and the illegal possession of explosives and fireworks. In Peru’s Amazon, finding gold but leaving mercury

On a sweltering day in Peru’s Amazon, Riquelme loads a bag of rocks onto his back, sticks a plastic hose in his mouth, and steps off the back of a makeshift barge into the chai-colored Tambopata River. He’ll spend the next two hours with his eyes closed, vacuuming up sediment from the river bottom. On the barge, his partner Borian works the vacuum’s motor and sprays the mixture onto a rug.

There are 5 million children who could be potentially orphaned by ICE deportations

Cristina in her show on Univision tonite featured the stories of several children who have been left orphaned in the United States due to the deportation of their parents. On Cristina's website she reports, based on ICE estimates, that 5 million children, United States citizens by birth, live with their illegal alien parents.

Scientists who were definitely All Fucked Up have found the long-sought treatment that soothes troubled heroin addicts: Heroin. The scientists found that heroin addicts who were given free heroin , in a clinic, “did better” than addicts given methadone. What the fuck does “did better” mean, in a scientific sense?

Joel Tenenbaum fined $675,000 over copyright infringement

After just three hours of deliberations, a jury has ruled that convicted pirate Joel Tenenbaum has willfully infringed on copyrights, and has awarded the RIAA and the media companies $675,000 USD, $22,500 for each of the 30 songs he admitted to sharing. In some ways, Tenenbaum should be grateful, as the jury could have awarded up to $150,000 in penalties per track. In the recent ruling against Jammie Thomas-Rasset , the jury awarded the RIAA $1.92 million USD, on only 24 tracks.
