Two Chicago Girls In Critical Condition After Picnic Drive-by Two innocent elementary school girls were shot at an end of the school year picnic because some suspended children didn’t get in? That’s what Chicago police suspect, according to the Chicago Tribune . They report that girls, ages 7 and 13 were shot as children celebrated at an “end of the school year” picnic at Warren elementary’s playground. A handful of children witnessed a black car circulating the school before over a dozen shots were fired at them. Kids screamed and scattered but unfortunately the two girls were hit, one in the hand and the other, her thigh. Both were taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. Police say they’ve taken three suspended students into custody after they were stopped in the car linked to the shooting. The kids attempted to attend the school event and were deny. This is how they chose to retaliate? SMH.

Steve Scalise was critically wounded Wednesday in a shooting that might have put an end to his life, were it not for two black Capitol police officers… who ironically share very different politics from the Republican. U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan named Capitol Police officers David Bailey and Crystal Griner as being involved in the shooting on Wednesday. Both were hospitalized after defending Scalise and other Republicans who were at a Congressional baseball practice when they were fired on. Scalise is not known for being particularly kind toward blacks (he’s been called a white supremacist by some) and is against same-sex marriage so it’s especially ironic that his life was saved by Bailey and Griner. Here’s a few posts we’ve spotted around social media on the incident: According to News & Observer reports Bailey graduated from NCCU in 2007, the school confirmed on Wednesday. He earned a bachelor of science degree in physical education and was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and a member of student government. Capitol Police Chief Matthew Verderosa said during a Wednesday afternoon news conference that neither Bailey nor Griner suffered a life-threatening injury, and that Bailey was treated and released. Prayers up for both Bailey and Griner! We’re so glad their injuries were not more serious. Is it too much to hope that Scalise sees the irony in all this and makes a change in his politics?
Getty Images Philadelphia Redesigns Pride Flag For The Black LGBTs Last week, the city of ‘brotherly love’ unveiled a redesigned Pride flag . Their new and improved version added black and brown stripes to the rainbow, in recognition of LGBTQ people of color. Curbed.com reports that this is just the first visual reminder from city that they include black and brown LGBT member and support all of the community. Tinashe recently chatted with The Guardian about her upbringing and life in the music industry. Things got especially interesting however when the “Too On” songstress spoke on colorism in the black community. According to Tinashe, in the music biz you’re “either Rihanna or Beyonce… “It’s kind of like sport; people feel like they have to pick a side.” Suddenly she springs forward, her default laid-back demeanour temporarily out of the window. “There are hundreds of [male] rappers that all look the same, that sound the same, but if you’re a black woman, you’re either Beyoncé or Rihanna. It’s very, very strange.” Judy Eddy/WENN.com and sometimes the biracial songstress doesn’t feel “fully accepted” in the black community. “Tinashe’s mixed-race heritage, which was used “as another example of why I was different” during those difficult school years, also remains an issue. “There’s colourism involved in the black community, which is very apparent,” she says carefully. “It’s about trying to find a balance where I’m a mixed woman, and sometimes I feel like I don’t fully fit into the black community; they don’t fully accept me, even though I see myself as a black woman. Caucasian Mother Plucks Kid’s Healthy Teeth Out On Walmart Bathroom A mother in Utah has been charged this week with felony child abuse according to People.com — for pulling out her 7-year- old son’s teeth in a Walmart bathroom. The crazy woman didn’t even use sanitizer or any anesthetics. 47-year-old Jeanine Isom alerted the store’s employess on April 2nd, when they heard the boy screaking for help. That’s when they discovered she was yanking out his teeth. Isom told police the boy’s teeth were infected, Sgt. Josh Christensen with the American Fork, Utah, police tells PEOPLE. But “he was taken to the dentist a couple of days later and the dentist said there was no sign of an infection whatsoever,” Christensen says. Police were not called to the scene immediately, but a family member learned about what she did and called to report Isom, 11 days after the incident.
Getty Images SMH: Food Shoppers Find Arizona Baby Abandoned In Jonas Brother Backpack A pedestrian leaving a Food City store in Tempe, Arizona stumbled upon something peculiar in a shopping cart in the store’s parking lot. According to AZ Central , the good samaritan heard a baby screaming inside of it. Not only was the child abandoned in the cart, but it was stuffed inside of a Jonas brothers backpack. That’s when they immediately reported what they saw to the Food City manager in duty. The baby was taken to a local hospital and was found in good health according to reports. Spokes people for the food city store says they’re relieved that the baby was found in good health, despite having no idea who the newborn’s mother is. “This is a tragic situation but we’re thankful that the baby was found healthy,” said Ashley Shick, director of communications and public affairs for Bashas’, which owns Food City stores.
