Real talk, y’all: The first domestic trailer for Juan Antonio Bayona’s disaster drama The Impossible made me a little misty-eyed. Get ready to get your hearts touched by Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts as parents on vacay with their children who get separated by the devastating 2004 tsunami and attempt to find their way back to each other amid the destruction and chaos. Sniff. The first Spanish language teaser and posters caught our eye with their startlingly frightening imagery, but Summit’s trailer takes a different route with effective results, focusing more on the human drama and bonds at the center of the film. The Impossible marks director Bayona’s English-language debut after impressing with 2007’s The Orphanage . [Trailer debut in HD at Apple .] Based on the true story of one family’s survival of the 2004 tsunami, THE IMPOSSIBLE stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and is directed by J.A. Bayona (THE ORPHANAGE). Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three sons begin their winter vacation in Thailand, looking forward to a few days in tropical paradise. But on the morning of December 26th, as the family relaxes around the pool after their Christmas festivities the night before, a terrifying roar rises up from the center of the earth. As Maria freezes in fear, a huge wall of black water races across the hotel grounds toward her. THE IMPOSSIBLE is the powerful and unforgettable account of a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time. But the true-life terror is tempered by the unexpected displays of compassion, courage and simple kindness that Maria and her family encounter during the darkest hours of their lives. For the life of me I cannot remember the scene in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol when Tom Cruise jumped on top of Jeremy Renner‘s butt and put his snout pensively on his feet. Or when they comically tiptoed around in unison or delighted Simon Cowell? I was in the bathroom at one point but you’d think I would have seen some of this. Oh, you know what? R&B singer Robin Thicke was arrested in New York City this afternoon for marijuana possession. The Love After War singer was arrested after police officers saw him smoking a joint while sitting in a Cadillac Escalade parked near Gramercy Park in Manhattan. The New York Daily News reports that Thicke was friendly throughout the arrest and even took photographs with the cops and signed autographs. Thicke is married to actress Paula Patton and his father is actor Alan Thicke, who is best known for playing Jason Seaver in the long-running sitcom “Growing Pains.” Read more at the NY Daily News. Known for her crazy antics on all subjects ranging from cooking to basic dating advice, Glozell has now taken on the unconquerable cinnamon challenge!  When the cinnamon challenge is taken, most people attempt it with about a tablespoon worth….not Glozell.  She attempts the impossible with a soup ladle!  Keep in mind that the whole point of the challenge is to see if the person attempting it can simply hold a mouthful of cinnamon in for at least 10 seconds.  Lets see how far Glozell gets!

Pictures PARK CITY, Utah — He can run. He can climb cliff sides without harnesses. Heck, he can even scale the surface of the world’s tallest building . And now, for his next trick, Tom Cruise will truly do the impossible: sing his heart out in front of moviegoers nationwide. The “Mission Impossible” actor will next be seen as fictional rock god Stacee Jaxx in “Rock of Ages,” director Adam Shankman’s adaptation of the Broadway musical. If you think it’s bizarre casting, take it from Cruise’s costar, Malin Akerman — according to her, there is literally nothing that Cruise can’t do, carrying a tune included. “He’s brilliant. You’re going to be blown away,” Akerman told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival , which she’s attending as an ambassador for the Brita FilterForGood Music Project campaign. “His voice is ridiculous.” Akerman should know. As reporter Constance Sack, she only has one musical number in “Rock of Ages” — a cover of “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner — which she sings opposite Cruise. “I auditioned with Cruise. We did our scene together and then I had to sing in the studio [for a musical audition],” she said of landing the role. “My role was actually one of the last ones cast, so I was the last onboard and had the least amount of prep [time]. It was nerve-wracking, to have to go in and sing in the audition.” But Akerman says any anxiety was transformed into elation when performing opposite Cruise, a Hollywood icon she likens to an equally iconic superhero. “He’s Superman to me. He can do anything he sets his mind to,” she said, adding that on top of his talent as an actor and his ability to perform breathtaking stunts, Cruise can also “sing like an opera singer.” “When you’re with Tom, you give it your all,” Akerman said. “It was really amazing and surreal.” The 2012 Sundance Film Festival is officially under way, and the MTV Movies team is on the ground reporting on the hottest stars and the movies everyone will be talking about in the year to come.
