Boston Bomber’s Pals Covered For Their Friend According to The NY Post Two pals of the surviving Boston Marathon bomber allegedly covered up for their friend by tossing a backpack filled with spent fireworks used in the attack, authorities said today. Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov, both 19, were charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice for allegedly blocking the investigation into their terrorist buddy, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19. A third defendant, Robel Phillipos, 19, was charged with lying to authorities. “Kadyrbayev knew when he saw the empty fireworks that Tsarnaev was involved in the Marathon bombing,” according to the complaint. “[He] decided to remove the backpack from the room in order to help his friend Tsarnaev avoid trouble.” The pals also grabbed his laptop, Cieplik wrote. Kadyrbayev, with the consent of Tazhayakov and Phillipos, later tossed the backpack in a trash bag and then in a dumpster near his New Bedford apartment, the FBI said. “According to Kadyrbayev, they then collectively decided to throw the backpack and fireworks into the trash because they did not want Tsarnaev to get in trouble,” the complaint charged. All three defendants were schoolmates of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. They’re being held in custody until a May 14 hearing. Kadyrbayev ‘s lawyer Robert Stahl said his client has been cooperating with the FBI. Kadyrbayev directed investigators to the trash dumpster where he ditched the backpack, helping feds eventually find it in a landfill. “Mr. Kadyrbayev told the FBI about that [where to find the backpack],” Stahl said. The lawyer insisted his client was not trying to cover for Tsarnaev. Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov face up to five years in prison while Phillipos could get eight years behind bars. They all could be slapped with fines up to $250,000. At least they cooperated with authorities. That is probably the only chance they have of getting through this. AP

Man Claims He’s God, Arrested For Assaulting A Police Officer According to Raw Story A 19-year-old Florida man, who said he had taken psychedelic drugs, was arrested after telling police that he was God and then allegedly assaulting an officer. Police in Gainesville were called to Campus Club Apartments at around 1 a.m. on Saturday by residents who said they witnessed Michael Joseph Silecchia running through the halls of the building, according to The Independent Florida Alligator. Silecchia told police responding to the call that he was “straight” and he was “God.” After stripping off his clothes, Silecchia begged officers, “Don’t cut off my penis.” But the 19-year-old man later changed his mind, saying, “Cut off my penis.” GPD spokesperson Officer Ben Tobias said that Silecchia admitted to taking acid, but police could not confirm that he was on LSD or any other drug. A police report said that the suspect punched a female officer in a head when they tried to subdue him. Silecchia was shocked with a Taser about six times, but it had little effect. Silecchia was taken to Shands at the University of Florida for a medical evaluation and then booked into the Alachua County Jail on Monday on charges of resisting arrest and assault on an officer. The unidentified woman swore repeatedly repeating ‘If your country is so good, f*** off back there’ at a man sitting next to her on an eastbound District line train. Another passenger filmed the three-minute rant and posted it on YouTube which prompted British Transport Police to launch an investigation into the shocking alleged incident. While it is unclear what provoked the attack or what the victim says during the video, the woman repeatedly swears, makes rude gestures and stands threateningly over the man. She screamed: ‘You come in this country you f****ng mother f***ers c***. You want everything on a plate f*****ng c*** and expect us to take this. ‘You are all racist c****, you want to take over the world. ‘You’re so thick you don’t even get it.’ The police today released an image of the woman. They said the date and time of the alleged attack is unclear. The former President said during his acceptance speech that his daughter “has had a profound impact on the way I see the world. It’s sort of humbling when you get to be my age when your child knows more than you do about everything.” “Chelsea and her gay friends have modeled to me how we should all treat each other regardless of our sexual orientation or any other artificial difference that divides us,” said the honoree. “Many of them come and join us every Thanksgiving for a meal. I have grown very attached to them.” “And over the years, I was forced to confront the fact that people who oppose equal rights for gays in the marriage sphere are basically acting out of concern for their own identity, not out of respect for anyone else.” Clinton’s view on marriage equality changed substantially over the years. During his presidency, he signed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which denies federal benefits to same-sex couples. “I want to keep working on this until not only is DOMA no longer the law of the land, but until all people — no matter where they live — can marry the people they love,” Clinton told the crowd.
