President Obama To Republicans: “Eff Yo’ Politics, Pass My Jobs Bill For The American People That Need Help!”

President Obama has had enough of the tomfoolery and wants some real action to be taken. In his weekly address, President Obama pressed Republicans in Congress to justify their opposition to his $447 billion jobs bill and reiterated his plea for them to “pass this jobs bill.” “Some Republicans in Congress have said that they agree with certain parts of this jobs bill.” Obama said. “If so, it’s time for them to tell me what those proposals are. And if they’re opposed to this jobs bill, I’d like to know what exactly they’re against. Are they against putting teachers and police officers and firefighters back on the job? Are they against hiring construction workers to rebuild our roads and bridges and schools? Are they against giving tax cuts to virtually every worker and small business in America?” The Senate is expected to take up the bill next month and, while the president continues to urge Congress to pass the American Jobs Act in full, the White House has said Obama would accept a piecemeal approach to passing the legislation if Congress rejects the package in full. “Economists from across the political spectrum have said that this jobs bill would boost the economy and spur hiring. Why would you be against that — especially at a time when so many Americans are struggling and out of work?” Obama asked. But, the president argued that this “isn’t just about what I think is right. It’s not just about what a group of economists think is right,” it’s about what Americans want and need. The POTUS went on to say: “These are the people who need a win, and I will be fighting for this jobs bill every day on their behalf,” he said. “It is time for the politics to end. Let’s pass this jobs bill.” Unfortunately, some of these Republican scumbags just won’t let Barack Hussein Obama be great. SMH… Source

Rude Gal RihRih Boo’ed By Irish Audience After Being Tardy For The Party

Rihanna is continuing to have bad luck with the Irish. The singer ticked off tons of fans at her show in Belfast Thursday when she failed to secure an opening act to keep the crowd entertained as they waited HOURS for her to appear. The audience let their anger be known by booing! A sell-out Odyssey crowd of 7,000, mostly young women wearing heels longer than their skirts, packed into the arena for the beginning of a three-night run of Rihanna’s Loud tour. Unfortunately they were left waiting for hours as the superstar did not take to the stage until very late, much to the anger of those present. It had all started so brightly. Scottish DJ Calvin Harris warmed the crowd up, although they hardly needed any encouragement. Apparently unable to play any instruments, Harris bravely improvised by seemingly playing a cassette of his favourite elevator tunes and repeatedly telling Belfast to “put your arms in the air”. He received a deafeningly positive reception — but the crowd was getting more and more restless the longer Rihanna’s arrival on stage was delayed. Fans amused themselves for well over 90 minutes with the obligatory Mexican wave and some good old-fashioned mindless punch-ups. Just before 10pm loud boos rang out from the masses, as there was still no sign of the elusive popstar. Another 15 minutes with still no show and the boos became more sustained and ugly. Finally the 23-year-old, no respect at all for reviewers’ deadlines, arrived on stage in the middle of what appeared to be a giant hamster’s wheel. Surrounded by dancers dressed like Teletubbies she was wearing a blue raincoat and sparkly underwear. As soon as she launched into a raucous version of Only Girl in the World the crowd’s anger immediately dissipated and Rihanna was their pop idol once more. Clearly the superstar is enjoying Northern Ireland’s Indian summer and she wasted no time in discarding her raincoat and spent most of the night in various forms of undress. The show itself was fine. A huge mixture of big noise, big screens, expensive props, swearing and suggestive dancing. During Shut Up And Drive, a car appeared from underneath the stage and a number of dancers then proceeded to pretend to batter the hell out of it for no obvious reason. It was that sort of night. The music itself was mostly forgettable, Umbrella being a noticeable exception. No problem with any of what happened when Rihanna did appear but the wait was unforgivable. Get it together RihRih! We know you’re a bad girl, but there’s no excuse for you allowing fans to have a bad time. Source

Krishna Take The Wheel: At Least 23 Kids In India Now Have AIDS Thanks To Tainted Transfusions At Government Hospital

Man, isht like this shouldn’t still be happening in the 21st century!!! At least 23 children suffering from a rare genetic disorder have tested positive for HIV after receiving tainted blood transfusions in western India, officials said Monday. The children all received free blood transfusions at a government-run hospital in the Junagadh district of Gujarat state between January and August, hospital head G.T. Dayalu said. State government spokesman Jai Narayan Vyas said a team of doctors has been sent to investigate. News reports quoted Vyas as saying that many of the infected children had received transfusions from more than one hospital. But the Indian Express newspaper reported that parents of the children said they had received blood only at the government hospital. The children suffer from thalassemia, a genetic disorder that requires regular transfusions. The children all belong to poor families. Damn. Are poor, Brown babies safe ANYWHERE on this planet? Postcard from Venice: Time to Say Goodbye, But First: Could Polanski Win a Golden Lion?

Venice is a city of lions. There’s the ubiquitous winged lion, the symbol of Saint Mark, seen everywhere in statuary and on banners. Last night, outside the Casino, one of the main buildings of the festival complex, I saw a winged lion statue, about 12 feet off the ground, with a single wine glass perched delicately if a bit precariously atop one of his meaty paws, left behind by some meticulous reveler. Other lions have no wings but appear not to mind much, standing guard at church entrances, outside restaurants or at the center of neighborhood squares. And everywhere you look, there are smaller lion faces gazing back at you: Some have important and obvious jobs to do, holding door-knockers or doorbells in their mouths. Others are free to simply be themselves, but all seem intent on keeping an eye on things.

I’ll never forget Sean Stone as the young, freckle-faced Jim Morrison through whom the soul of the bloody dead roadside Indian passed in his father Oliver Stone’s epic The Doors . Jesus Take The Wheel: 48 People Shot, Including 8 Killed, In NYC Over Labor Day Weekend

SMDH. Gunfire repeatedly rocked the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn yesterday — even while Mayor Bloomberg marched nearby — as the city’s terrifying epidemic of shootings over the Labor Day weekend grew steadily worse. The orgy of violence — including eight fatalities among the 48 gunshot victims — seemed to follow the revelers everywhere, from the parade route to nearby fast-food joints and even to their own homes. In all, nine of the shooting victims were hit at or near the parade, the annual Caribbean-themed festival in Crown Heights, where a gunman had fired into the air only blocks from where Bloomberg had just begun marching. “[The gunman] shouted something, then ‘boom!’ Everyone ducked,” said a witness, Marlene Anthony, adding that the young thug was standing at Rockaway Parkway and Clarkson Avenue – just blocks from the parade staging area. “It was a bad mix of alcohol, ignorance and a fool with a gun who tries to ruin the fun of the parade.” The gunman, Devon Stevens, 25, jumped into a livery cab, but went only a couple blocks before hopping out on East 94th Street at Winthrop Street, where he ditched the gun as cops gave chase, authorities said. Hours after the parade ended, an elderly woman was killed in the crossfire of a melee between cops and a gunman. The parade had gotten off to a rocky start at 6 a.m., when a nearby McDonald’s — packed with 100 early risers prepping for the festivities — was the site of a senseless shooting. A customer Kenneth Beggs, 44, bumped into a man entering the Empire Boulevard eatery and apologized. But Anthony Carruthers, 28, allegedly refused to let the incident go and pumped bullets into Beggs’ legs. “The bullet shattered the door, so everyone ran out the other door,” said one McDonald’s cook. Tempers flared after parade ended, as well, with one reveler shot in front of a crowd on Eastern Parkway. A group of six or seven men had pummeled the victim on the ground and then an attacker pulled out a handgun and shot him in the leg. Before the gunman fled, he grabbed a pot of steaming rice from a food vendor and tossed it onto an onlooker. Cops tackled the gunman. His victim is expected to survive. The shocking 72-hour shooting tally came as police revealed that the number of people who took a bullet in the past week had skyrocketed. For the week ending Sunday, a whopping 98 people had been shot — nearly twice the 53 shot during the same week last year, the NYPD said. Those injured last week were involved in 72 incidents, compared to 40 shoot-ups in the same week in 2010, according to the Police Department. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said that although the number of shootings so far this year is fewer when compared to a decade ago, the spree of gunfire over the weekend is “obviously . . . cause for concern. “We’re doing everything we can do,” added Kelly, who cited the NYPD’s shifting of resources to target guns on the streets, including boosting overtime. Some of the shootings were clearly “associated with the parade,” Kelly said. “Quite frankly, this is something that does happen with this parade.” Bloomberg said, “It was a bad weekend, no question about that . . . There’s just too many guns on the streets of this city. It’s a national problem . . . because it’s so easy to buy guns in other states, and just drive them in and sell them in the back of your car.” In all, at least 16 people were hit by bullets yesterday — 15 of them in Brooklyn. Wow. NYC has got to chill. Seriously. Source

Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Talks Earthquake Relief Show

‘It’s especially an honor to be able to give back to the Japanese community that’s been so devastated and been so great in supporting us,’ Bennington says. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Vanessa Whitewolf Chester Bennington of Linkin Park performs to raise money for Japanese tsunami relief in Los Angeles Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Linkin Park got together with 1,100 of their biggest fans on Wednesday night to play a very special show. Normally used to rocking tens of thousands, the group squeezed into the very intimate Mayan Theater in Los Angeles for a benefit for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief that was fueled by their followers’ energetic fundraising efforts. “It’s a really exciting night tonight. We’re performing a show with he B’z from Japan, [the] biggest rock band in Japanese history,” explained singer Chester Bennington before the gig. “It’s an honor to be able to play with these guys, and it’s especially an honor to be able to give back to the Japanese community that’s been so devastated and been so great in supporting us.” The show was populated by fans who met the group’s challenge to each raise $500 or more for Japanese tsunami relief in order to earn a pair of tickets. It was a continuation of LP’s Music for Relief charity, which was started in the wake of the 2005 Indian Ocean tsunami, which has subsequently raised funds for victims of other natural disasters, including the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. “We wanted to do something where we kind of engaged our fans to give money, because we’re always asking them to give money all the time because unfortunately, there are natural disasters affecting so many places all over the earth that we’re always asking our fans for money,” explained Bennington of the group’s ongoing fundraising efforts. “We wanted to do something that was exciting for our fans and gave them something to look forward to, a goal that was beyond anything they’d done before.” One initial idea had LP donating all the money from a show in Japan to relief efforts. But that felt like the obvious thing to do, so instead they came up with the notion of a secret show that would engage fans by having them “earn” the tickets. “We set a goal that we thought was pretty high, at $250,000, and amazingly our fans — from both Linkin Park and B’z — have generated over $350,000 in 60 days,” he said. “Which is unbelievable considering not only the devastation in Japan but also the economic struggles people are having here in the U.S. as well.” In fact, he said proudly, the top fundraiser brought in more than $13,000.
