‘James Bond 23’ To Return With Daniel Craig, Studio Says

MGM also announces a November 9, 2012, release date for the previously delayed ‘007’ film. By Kara Warner Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes Photo: Gabriel Bouys/ AFP There’s exciting news for James Bond fans! On Tuesday (January 11), after months of rumors about the fate of MGM — which owns the rights to the “007” franchise — the studio has given the 23rd film in the series a release date and secured “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace” star Daniel Craig to suit up as Bond once again. According to Deadline , the still-untitled film will be released worldwide on November 9, 2012, with Sam Mendes directing a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. While plot details are, as expected, heavily under wraps, we already know that in addition to Craig’s return, Dame Judi Dench will reprise her role as M. “I think I’m going to be needed in spring of 2011,” Dench told MTV News way back in 2009. “That’s a message I got. It would mean I could do something at the end of next year, something else, maybe be in the theater.” Among the other players still to be determined are a likely Bond girl, played in previous films by the likes of Halle Berry (“Die Another Day”), Teri Hatcher (“Tomorrow Never Dies”), Denise Richards (“The World Is Not Enough”) and the woman who started it all, classic beauty-in-a-bikini Ursula Andress (“Dr. No”). With regard to villains, Michael Sheen’s name has been tossed in the mix for the role of Blofeld , a character perhaps more well-known these days as the inspiration for Mike Myers’ Dr. Evil in the “Austin Powers” movies. But there’s no rule in Bond films that says the villain has to be male — or that there will only be one. Who’s your pick for the next Bond girl or Bond villain? Tell us in the comments! Michael Jackson Fans Celebrate Michael’s Release With DJ Cassidy

‘It was always my dream to DJ for Michael Jackson,’ Cassidy says at album-release party Monday night. By Steven Roberts Michael Jackson’s Michael Photo: Epic Records NEW YORK — Many a Michael Jackson fan lined up outside of the Roseland Ballroom on Monday night to celebrate the release of the King of Pop’s posthumous Michael album . Dozens of dancers and fans filled the ballroom’s floor, decked out in costumes inspired by MJ’s iconic looks from throughout his esteem career. One of those fans also happened to be the evening’s master of ceremonies, DJ Cassidy. “I’m here to make the fans dance,” he told MTV News. “I think that’s why Michael essentially made the music. He wanted to make people dance. He wanted to make people feel the emotion he felt, and I’m here to do just that. I’m here to help the fans in the celebration of the king.” Dressed in a leather suit with a pink shirt and socks, a red bowtie and shell-top Adidas, Cassidy said that he’s been a fan of Jackson for as long as he can remember. The late singer has been his inspiration in anything artistic in his life, from music to fashion. “So much of my fashion comes from Michael,” Cassidy explained. “So much of how I play music comes from how he formed his songs, how he created his sound that really inspired the way that I DJ. And really, it inspired me to want to be a DJ, to want to make people dance. “So, when I became a DJ at the age of 10, it was always my dream to DJ for Michael Jackson,” he added. “Tonight’s just a small way for me to really celebrate his music.” The party’s guests also included producers Teddy Riley, Eddie Cascio and Neff U, who each had a hand in producing Michael ‘s tracks. But before he began to spin for the night, Cassidy was thinking back to the classics, particularly his favorite party song, 1979’s “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.” “You can be anywhere in the world, any city, any small town, any type of crowd, black, white, old, young, poor, rich, at any type of venue,” he said. “They could be wanting to hear house music, hip-hop music, anything in between, but ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ will turn that party out.” What’s your favorite Michael Jackson song? Hayley Williams Calls ‘VH1 Divas’ Performance ‘Humbling’

‘I want to do it again,’ singer tells MTV News of performing for the troops. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Audrey Kim Hayley Williams Photo: Angela Weiss/ Getty Images Hayley Williams proved that she’s one of the new-millennium divas when she belted out Paramore’s “The Only Exception” and a cover of the Foo Fighters’ hit “My Hero” from Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. She and her bandmates entertained the troops there on Friday for “VH1 Divas Salute the Troops,” which aired Sunday night. When MTV News caught up with the rocking frontwoman at KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2010 in Los Angeles on Sunday, she admitted that performing for the troops had definitely been on the band’s bucket list. “Well, that was the first time we’d ever experienced anything like that,” she explained. “It was so humbling, and I want to do it again.” The band has a special connection to the troops, since a few of their friends have been deployed. “We’ve been waiting since our band started,” she said. “Especially Jeremy [Davis], our bass player, he’s had friends over there since the band started since he was out of high school. So it’s just really important for us to show them they’re remembered and give them a night just to hang out.” Her “Airplanes” collaborator B.o.B, who was with Williams at Jingle Ball, seemed equally excited by the group’s smashing performance. “Everybody gotta enjoy rock and roll. Shout-outs to Jeremy!” he exclaimed. “What up, man!” The VH1 Divas night also included performances from the Marine Corps air hangar in San Diego by Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj , Sugarland, Keri Hilson and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. Almost all of the ladies hit the stage for the night’s big opening number, a new take on the classic war tune “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Related Videos Performances At ‘VH1 Divas Salute The Troops’ Related Photos Fashions At ‘VH1 Divas Salute The Troops’ 2010 Jingle Ball Kicks Off In Los Angeles Related Artists Paramore

Kings Of Leon Turn Madison Square Garden ‘Radioactive’

The boys from Tennessee declared the New York venue their new home court on Tuesday night. By Jenny McCoy Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill performs at Madison Square Garden Tuesday Photo: Theo Wargo/ Getty Images NEW YORK — With red smoke, a clean, metallic set and a crowd as varied as their albums, the Kings of Leon launched into a 22-song set at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night with “Mary,” a song from their new album, Come Around Sundown. The Kings then took a very full (thought not quite sold-out) crowd on a two-song trip back to earlier times with “Crawl” and “Molly’s Chambers” before crooning this summer’s single, “Radioactive,” a song that sounds perfect for in the arena. From there, they continued to weave the best of their raw beginnings, sing-a-long hits from the hugely successful Only by the Night and new tracks from Sundown. The crowd was a mix of 30-something professionals, 20-something drinkers and the occasional flannel, and KOL’s song choices was made to please every variation of fan. While some commuters filtered out before the show’s end, most stayed on until the very end. After recording their album in New York City, the boys from Tennessee declared the Garden their new home court. “The first time we played here, we were the opening band. It feels good not to be the opening band tonight,” frontman Caleb Followill told the crowd. “Now that we’ve spent more time in this beautiful city, it means a lot more to us.” The Followill brothers and cousin took a couple minutes to announce a couple of very special guests: their moms. “Just want to say how wonderful it is to have our moms here tonight — the two prettiest women in the world,” Caleb announced before playing the fittingly titled “Back Down South.” KOL wrapped the show with “Use Somebody,” inspiring the crowd to use their best shower-singing voices and sway like they were at a seventh-grade dance. But the energy was turned up again for the encore — “Be Somebody,” “Sex on Fire” and “Black Thumbnail” — when the band said goodbye with a pyrotechnics show. ‘Harry Potter’ Star Emma Watson Says Mom And Mia Farrow Inspired Haircut

‘I took in a picture of Mia Farrow and was like, ‘I want to look like this,’ ‘ actress says. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Emma Watson Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Emma Watson had been wanting to chop all her hair off for years, but her decade-long commitment to “Harry Potter” required her to resemble a long-haired witch rather than a close-cropped pixie. As soon as production on “Deathly Hallows,” the two-part “Harry Potter” series finale , wrapped earlier this year, the 20-year-old Brit took a trip to the salon. The stylish results have been on full display as she works the publicity circuit on both sides of the Atlantic. In a recent conversation with MTV News, Watson revealed that the inspiration behind the new look has both familial and cinematic roots. “My mother has this haircut and this has been her signature look since she was, like, 16. I just always thought it was really cool and wanted to try it,” Watson told MTV News. “When I went in to my hairdresser, I took in a picture of Mia Farrow and was like, ‘I want to look like this.’ ” Little did she know how shocking the new ‘do would become. “I can’t believe how much of a stir this haircut caused. It’s pretty nuts,” she said. “The haircut has been a big deal.” And it’s been a long time coming. Watson’s hair simply hadn’t been her own since she joined the franchise as Hermione Granger at the turn of the millennium. She would have had to ask permission to get her locks trimmed — and she knew Warner Bros. would never OK such a drastic makeover. “I never even asked,” the actress said. “I just knew it wasn’t an option. Hermione is famous for this long, bushy brown hair, so I had to stick with it.” Now she views her new look as a sign that she’s embarked on a new chapter in her life. “I needed a change when ‘Potter’ was done, so I was like, this will be it to mark the new phase in my life,” she said.
