Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com Yacht Week. When you close your eyes, you can feel the wind from the water and smell and taste the ocean on your lips. The sun is warming your melanin skin and you are surrounded by lots of other party goers ready for a good time. You hop from boat to boat, partying, drinking, connecting. The music is blaring, the drinks are flowing, you are surrounded by paradise. While there is fun in Croatia, beauty in Greece, and you can never go wrong with Montenegro, Kelsy Horton realized there was a major miss for people of color: no Yacht Week focused on an African or Black experience. Thus, three years ago, Yacht Week East Africa was born. Talk about sailing for the culture! Source: Alexandra Wontorra / EyeEm / Getty This Yacht Week sets sail in the Seychelles where guests can spend two days on land learning about the Seychelles and experiencing the culture prior to setting sail. There are options for attendees to sight see, go shopping and learn more about the islands. During the actual sailing experience, there are options as well. Guests will be able to go on a tropical rainforest hike, snorkel, fish, bike riding, exploring and more. It’s more than just a boat and water! Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com We caught up with Kelsy Horton, Founder and Host of Yacht Week East Africa , who got candid with us regarding why he started East Africa Yacht Week, things you need to know, and more. Starting a business can be daunting, what placed Horton up for the task? He told Hello Beautiful , “I started Yacht Week East Africa to provide an Afrocentric alternative to the sailing events that take place in Europe and the Americas. I also wanted to showcase the beauty and culture of East Africa, which is under the radar for many people.” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com In addition to East Africa being under the radar for many people, sailing isn’t something that Black people are culturally involved in on a large basis. Horton has been sailing since he was a child, “My first sail took place when I was a kid in Chicago, on the waters of Lake Michigan,” he shared with Hello Beautiful. How he got from sailing to a kid to running a yacht week was a little more complex. “In 2015, I moved to Tanzania, which sits on the Indian Ocean, and has a strong sailing community. I started sailing with friends for birthday parties, when guests were in town, and other special occassions. It was at this point that sailing became one of my passions.” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com And passionate he is! Horton is hosting three different trips in 2019. Currently, there is room to register for two more trips occurring in September and October. The first one is August 30th to September 8th, 2019 and the second one is October 11th – October 20th, 2019. Anyone can attend! Horton shared, “We celebrate Black culture and we welcome anyone from any background to join us.” If you are worried that you can’t swim, don’t be. Horton assured, “You don’t need to know how to swim to attend Yacht Week East Africa. Swiming during the event is totally optional.” Just wear a floatie girl and get ready to slay some serious beach photos! Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com If you are someone that has been to other Yacht Weeks and wondering what makes this one different, Horton reveals, “in addition to sailing, beautiful beaches, and partying, our emphasis on culture and cuisine separates us from the rest. Our sailing locations are also off of the beaten path.” So yes, you will have a one of a kind experience with unique photos focused on our culture. While personally, I have never been to East Africa, Horton was able to help me understand what makes this region so special. “East Africa calms your spirit and is good for your soul.” He boldly boasts, “There’s a strong change that East Africa is more beautiful than your favorite vacation spot.” Wow! He also adds that “the people are extremely welcoming and the culture is very accommodating,” which is also a plus for people traveling while Black. Source: Courtesy of East Africa Yacht Week / EastAfricaYachtWeek.com I was looking through images and the company’s Instagram page and I noticed one thing: there were so many Black women in attendance! It made me wonder if Horton was focused on our demographic and behold, he is most definitely catering to Black women. (Come on, Black man!). “There is something that is very appealing about a beautiful woman in her best swimsuit, laid out on a yacht in the middle of the ocean without a care in the world,” he swoons. What makes this trip so attractive to us? Horton explains, “Add a beautiful backdrop like the Seychelles, plus the fact that the event is curated with them in mind, and our Sisters are ready to sign up!” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com As mentioned, the company has been around for only three years; however, they are already thinking of expansion. Horton is looking closely at routes in other countries as well as land-based events in Tanzania and Kenya. He tells us to “stay tuned!” …and we are. We end our interview with Horton encompassing Yacht Week East Africa, “It is for us, by us, and we sail for the culture.” Source: Courtesy of Yacht Week East Africa / YachtWeekEA.com You can find out more about Yacht Week East Africa on their website, here . Currently, you have until February 28th, 2019 to book for the August/September or October trip. Get on it! Bless Him: August Alsina Gets Emotional About Sister’s Death & Talks Relationship With Jada Pinkett-Smith [Video]

It’s been four years since August Alsina gave an official interview, and so much has gone on in the star’s life since then.  The Shade Room caught up with the “I Luv This” singer and he dished on everything fans have been wanting to know during his hiatus, including the status of his relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith and how he’s been holding up since his sister’s death. Aug got emotional when asked how he’s been feeling: “I’m going through my process. I’m going through my journey. And I’m not looking for any sympathy because I know that God has me even when I feel that God doesn’t. Even when I’m talking to God in a rage and I can’t hear God responding to me. I’m just in a space where I know that there are certain things you can learn about God through suffering.” The tears continued to fall as he opened up about getting custody of his nieces after his sister’s death. “While I’m suffering, and while I’m watching my nieces suffer — who are my kids now— to hear them tell me ‘I want my mother and I want my father’. And them seeing me as a person who can always fix something for them. And this is a situation that I can’t fix. I just continue to walk by faith and not what I see. Because people are dying.” Fortunately, it looks like August is back in good spirits since the emotional interview. We’ve been praying asking for details on where we’re going..&God says “JUST START WALKiNG! &WHILE you are walking WITH ME I will fill you in on what I want you to do. Jenelle Evans Attacked By Fans Over Bizarre Relationship With Kaiser

Jenelle Evans barely appeared on Monday night’s episode of Teen Mom 2 . In fact, she only popped up in one brief and mostly uneventful scene. But even so, she’s the talk of Twitter today thanks to a pair of alarming controversies. The one that’s receiving the most attention on social media this morning involves Jenelle’s mom, Barbara Evans, who made some unsettling comments about her daughter’s marriage to David Eason. Speaking with a member of the show’s security staff, Babara revealed that she believes David represents a serious threat to Jenelle’s safety. “I think he’s hurting her and he’s just keeping her … I can see it, it’s a domestic violence thing and he’s keeping her like a prisoner,” a tearful Babs accused. “She can’t even leave the house.” Frightening stuff, and it’s not hard to see why the scene prompted many viewers to call for MTV to immediately cut ties with the entire Eason family. As it appears right now, the network is subsidizing an abusive household. Interestingly, the other Jenelle controversy of the night also involved Andre the security guard. In the only scene that actually featured Jenelle on camera, her baby daddy Nathan Griffith dropped off his son Kaiser following a weekend visit. Kaiser was reluctant to say goodbye, and he was so overwhelmed with affection that he runs to Andre to offer him a hug, as well. (As many viewers pointed out, the boy did not seem eager to hug Jenelle.) “Tomorrow, can we go to Daddy’s?” Kaiser asked at one point, to which Evans replied, “Not tomorrow. You can go next weekend.” “I might start crying for Daddy,” Kaiser responded. MTV posted a clip of the scene on Twitter, with a caption reading: “Kaiser is the cutest! Watch this sweet moment between @PBandJenelley_1 and her Bubba from tonight’s new #TeenMom2” Not surprisingly, many fans did not agree with the network’s assessment of the show. “That was hard to watch,” tweeted one fan. “There were no sweet moments between Jenelle and Kaiser! He wanted to hug everyone there except her!” echoed another. A third took it as further confirmation of David Eason’s abusive behavior and Jenelle’s negligent parenting. “That was a sweet moment between @PBandJenelley_1 and Kaiser? “Nooo! that was a sweet moment between Nathan, his mom, and Andre & Kaiser. Kaiser wasn’t happy to see her, nor did he want to go with her. Can’t blame the kid. I’m nervous for every living thing in their house.” It’s anyone’s guess as to why the network would describe the scene so inaccurately. Perhaps MTV really is worried about Jenelle quitting Teen Mom 2 . View Slideshow: Barbara Evans: David Eason is Abusing Jenelle! She’s Being Held Prisoner!

Vicki Gunvalson: DEMOTED to "Friend" of the Real Housewives!

This is without question the single biggest shakeup in the history of The Real Housewives of Orange County . Maybe of any Real Housewives show. At first, this particular round of cast turmoil rumors sounded particularly absurd, as they often are, but they haven't gone away. Multiple media reports and accounts from the cast itself indicates that the OG of the OC herself, Vicki Gunvalson, has been demoted. She'll be returning as a “Friend” of the Housewives instead of as a full Housewife, but for Vicki of all people, that's a shocking move. Take a look at how and why it went down … 1. Vicki Gunvalson at Home It has been widely rumored that Vicki Gunvalson has been demoted to a mere “Friend” of the Housewives. 2. This is a big effing deal Vicki is THE OG Housewife. When she loses her orange, so to speak, Tamra Judge will be the longest-running Housewife. Can you live with that? Can you sleep with that on your conscience? Because Bravo apparently can. 3. Kelly Dodd is beside herself with glee “Well, I cannot confirm nor deny,” Kelly Dodd said in response to Jeff Lewis’ question on Jeff Lewis Live, Flipping Out. “However, that’s the word on the street.” 4. Jeff Lewis took Kelly’s statement as a confirmation So, she’s been demoted,” Jeff, who is also feuding with Vicki, replies. “Vicki Gunvalson has been demoted. I think the way she’s behaved and the things she has done, she doesn’t deserve our respect. And I’m glad she was demoted.” 5. Vicki took to Twitter to dismiss it all as just rumors “Unless you hear it from me, then it’s simply a rumor,” Vicki insists. “I am in negotiations.” Vicki later adds: “I’m the only one who knows really what is going on.” 6. First of all, that’s not a denial And second of all? Bravo is already filming The Real Housewives of Orange County. So if Vicki is still in negotiations, she’s not filming, which means that they’re filming without her. That’s not great. View Slideshow

Ronnie Magro Reveals Rehab Stint, Admits: "I Hit Rock Bottom"

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has put down the tough guy facade for a few moments. In a revealing interview with Us Weekly , the veteran Jersey Shore star has admitted that he checked into a rehab facility after the filiming of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 2. Why? Because he finally realized the extent of his dependency on alcohol. Drunk Ronnie has often been a source of humor and mockey for fans of this MTV franchise, but Ronnie explains below why it really should not be a laughing matter. Scroll down to read excerpts from his interview and join us in commending Ronnie for taking this step… 1. Ronnie Has Made Many Headline of Late And few of them have been positive… and most of them have centered on his VERY rocky relationship with Jen Harley, who gave birth to the couple’s daughter in early April of 2018. 2. There Have Been Ups. But Mostly Been Downs. Harley has been arrested for alleged assault against Ronnie… Ronnie has been accused of ransacking Jen’s apartment… Jen has referred to Ronnie as a “deadbeat cokehead” and Ronnie has referred to Jen as a “cum dumpster.” It’s been ugly. 3. At Least Ronnie Recognized There Was a Problem “I decided to go to treatment because I wanted to be a better person, a better father for my daughter,” Otiz-Magro tells Us Weekly, adding that he entered the facility for help with depression and alcohol abuse. 4. A Lot More from Ronnie: “Eventually, all the bad decisions I was making were going to lead me to places that I didn’t want to be. I wanted to be led to the place that I am now – that’s happy, healthy and the best role model for my daughter.” 5. Poor Ariana Ortiz-Magro shares 10-month-old daughter Ariana with Harley, which is what makes their vicious, never-ending back and forth just so sad and troublesome. 6. It Really Has Been So Vicious and Public On New Year’s Eve, both sides admit to have gotten into a major fight, with Ronnie claiming that Jen busted open his face with a glass ashtray . Sorry Liam Neeson, If You’re White, You’re Probably Racist

Visit link:

Source: Splash News / Splash News On this fine Black History Month, Liam Neeson shocked the Internet when he revealed that he once went looking for a “Black bastard” to kill after a close friend of his was raped. Neeson made the confession in an interview with Independent  when he was promoting his new flick Cold Pursuit.  While explaining his character’s need for revenge, Liam described an instance when his friend was raped and she told Liam that a Black man did it. In fits of anger, Neeson said he would roam the streets with a cosh (a bar used as a weapon) looking for the nearest Black man to provoke him: “I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [Neeson gestures air quotes with his fingers] ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could…kill him.” Many online souls were flabbergasted by Liam’s words. Liam Neeson didn't say he wanted to kill his friend's rapist….which you could chalk up to revenge…..bruh straight up said he wanted to kill any black man…..if you're defending him….you're just as trash as he is…. — Bae Mama (@mc_magic1887) February 4, 2019 Liam Neeson being ready to take any Black life over what one person allegedly did just shows how meaningless and inconsequential black lives are to some. Even him telling the story demonstrates a level of privilege and understating that there may not be repercussions. — Frederick Joseph (@FredTJoseph) February 4, 2019 Yup so Liam Neeson is definitely cancelled. — King K. (@Unkle_K) February 4, 2019   Liam then went on Good Morning America on Tuesday to clarify his story… But he just made things worse.   In his interview with Robin Roberts,  Liam said “There were some nights I went out deliberately into Black areas in the city, looking to be set upon so that I could unleash physical violence.” He continued: “And I did it maybe four or five times, until I caught myself on and it really shocked me, this primal urge I had. It shocked me, and it hurt me. I did seek help. I went to a priest who heard my confession…[I had] two very, very good friends that I talked too, and believe it or not, power walking two hours everyday to get rid of this. I’m not racist, this was nearly 40 years ago.”   Like whaaaa??? First off Liam, you said you deliberately went into Black neighborhoods to take out your anger on any random Black person. This is, in fact, racist. Like…you didn’t go to the nearest Whole Foods in your neighborhood to find a Black person. You specifically went into Black neighborhoods to enact terror. And even if your need for revenge has subsided over the years, you’ve yet to acknowledge that your targeting of Black communities was racist, which proves you still have some racism up in your bones.   Finally… And listen closely… If you’re a White person, you should more readily assume you are racist, rather than believing you’re not. It’s times like these that self-identified “non-racist” White people love to distance themselves from other White people who are blatantly racist, because if there’s one thing that “non-racist” White people H A T E, it’s to be called racist. “I’m not like that horrible Liam Neeson who said he wanted to beat a random Black person,” said your random White neighbor. “I would NEVER say the N-word,” said your White lover. “Liam Neeson is canceled,” said the White head of your marketing team. I get you “non-racist” White person. But what about your racist cousin demanding more police presence in their newly gentrified neighborhood ? What about your racist uncle who bought private prison stock when Trump got elected ? It can be outright dangerous to use Liam’s actions as the sole measuring stick for racism. Wanting to kill a random Black person is the tip of the iceberg and the most primal manifestation of racist attitudes. But the system of racism is inherently violent and White people either participate in it or benefit from it. Racism, and especially anti-Black racism, is a system of power that subjugates Black people in all corners of society, from institutions to your own personal circles. While Liam’s attitude might be an inter-personal manifestation of racism, the wealth gap between races is just one example of institutional racism that White people can benefit from. A 2019 study by the  Institute for Policy reported that the median Black family today owns $3,600, which is just 2% of the wealth median White families own at $146,984. On top of this, median White wealth is continuing to increase, while median Black wealth is on track to reach zero by 2082, according to the report. This major gap is due to years of wealth-stripping practices aimed at Black people in the housing market , prison-police systems and more. Now you’d think with such reports, there’d be complete social media outrage from “non-racist” White people demanding more research on the racial wealth divide, discriminatory practices and the need for reparations . The same criminalization of Black people enacted by Neeson is the same criminalization used to keep Black people out of wealth stability and instead, in prisons and resource-stripped environments. Is this not the groundwork for targeted violence? Are the “non-racist” Whites starting a social media campaign around this? If they’re aware of these issues and do nothing, aren’t they complicit in racism?   Any White person claiming they’re not racist is not beneficial to anti-racist work. In contrast, it might be better for a White person to say “how do I benefit from racism” or “how can I be less racist today?” Part of this can be just doing your research on how systematic racism can be violent  along with searching for the nearest Black person to pummel with a “cosh.” I understand violence is on a spectrum and might require different reactions, but “I’m not racist” attitudes aren’t helping the conversation. Racism is normal. The goal is to make it not normal on all levels.

Sorry Liam Neeson, If You’re White, You’re Probably Racist

Nick Cannon Thinks Travis Scott Betrayed Black People by Knocking Up Kylie Jenner

Nick Cannon thinks Travis Scott is a traitor to his race because he got Kylie Jenner pregnant. Okay, that isn’t entirely true: Nick Cannon thinks Travis Scott is a traitor to his race partially because he got Kylie Jenner pregnant. While appearing on BET’s Raq Rants this week, Cannon took Scott to task for a couple decisions he recently made as an African-American. In short, the America’s Got Talent host thinks the rapper has no appreciation for his culture. One basis for this conclusion is Scott agreeing to perform at halftime of next month’s Super Bowl alongside Maroon 5 and Big Boi. Scott had previously received flak for this move from Al Sharpton , who slammed the artist for supporting a league (the NFL) that has cast out someone protesting civil rights injustices in America (Colin Kaepernick). Kaepernick is the former 49ers quarterback who remains under for kneeling during the national anthem in order to call attention to police brutality in this country. “I’m team Kaepernick all day,” Cannon said on BET, explaining why he’s not angry at Big Boi for the planned Super Bowl halftime show, at least not compared to his feelings on Scott: “To me, I call it cultural equity. So, we’re not mad at Big Boi for being on the Super Bowl – he’s for the people. But for someone like Travis Scott, he’s got to walk gingerly.” Ouch , huh? Cannon is doing everything here but calling Scott an “Uncle Tom,” and a major reason for doing so apparently is the child Scott produced by sleeping with Jenner. “It’s more about truly having integrity to who you are in your music, your art form, the people you choose to interact with, the people you choose to procreate with,” Cannon explained. “That decision [to have a baby with Jenner] wasn’t for the culture, but we not mad at you.” Wasn’t for the culture . That’s definitely a new take. ONE, how many people out there have kids with their “culture” in mind? TWO, Scott most definitely did not plan to have little Stormi. The pregnancy was an accident. Cannon, who dated Kim Kardashian way back in the day, was put on the spot in this interview about his past dating white women — and he responded as follows: “I love white women, let’s set the record straight. But that’s the thing, it’s cultural equity at the end of the day.” We’re not saying anything more here about the weird pregnancy take, but for the record: Billboard reported last week that Scott agreed to perform at the Super Bowl in Atlanta only after the NFL agreed to donate $500,000 to an organization called Dream Corps, which fights for social justice. Aware of the criticism that has come his way, Scott recently released a statement that reads: I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in. I know being an artist that it’s in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change.
