And now we know why: the country holds a special place in their heart… or in their other body parts, at least. In an interview Florence’s La Nazione newspaper today, the rapper said of the city in which he may get hitched this month: “I adore Florence. I love Italy and the Italian lifestyle. To tell you the truth, I already came to the banks of the Arno [river] with Kim last year, just the two of us, incognito.” And that wasn’t the only time Kim and Kanye visited the region. “I think that our daughter North was conceived here among the Renaissance masterpieces,” West added. “It was our first honeymoon. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world – for me, the most beautiful in Europe.” As for where Kim and Kanye will exchange vows? Specifically? An insider tells People Magazine the ceremony will take place at Forte di Belvedere in Florence – an imposing fortress built in the 16th century that originally protected the Italian city and its Renaissance palace from attackers. Renowned fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were given a reduced, suspended sentence of 18 months in jail on Wednesday. The duo’s conviction on charges of hiding hundreds of millions of euros from Italian tax authorities via Luxembourg holding company Gado was upheld. A lawyer for Dolce and Gabbana, who have always denied any wrongdoing, said they would appeal the decision : “I am speechless. We are all shocked. A Milan prosecutor had asked the court in March to clear the pair, who closed the Milan shops where they sell clothes inspired by Dolce’s native Sicily. The previous decision, by a lower court, handed the duo suspended jail sentences of 20 months each and imposed a fine of up to 10 million euros. The case stems from an investigation that began in 2008 when authorities stepped up their fight against tax evasion as a global financial crisis began to bite. Fashion companies have fallen under the scrutiny of Italy’s tax authorities partly due to the fact the sector has performed well despite a prolonged recession. Similarly, Giorgio Armani paid 270 million euros to tax authorities in early April to settle a dispute over payments from the group’s subsidiaries abroad. Prada Holding, which controls Prada, paid a reported 400-420 million euros to settle taxes in Italy after completing a process of voluntary disclosure in December. Anna Gordy Gaye, Marvin Gaye’s ex-wife and the older sister of Motown founder Berry Gordy, passed away this morning in Los Angeles. She was 92. She died inside her home from natural causes, according to reports. Family members discovered that Anna had passed away around 3 a.m. Friday. Anna and Marvin Gaye got married in 1964, and she was a huge influence on his career, co-writing two hits on his classic “What’s Going On” album. Marvin Gay also said his hit song “Pride and Joy” was inspired by his courtship of Anna back in the ’60s. The couple eventually divorced in 1977. She is survived by one child, son Marvin Gaye III. Despite a marriage that fizzled out and was at times turbulent, the two remained close after they split up, and Gaye’s death in 1984 devastated Anna. When Gaye was honored with induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Gordy attended and accepted Gaye’s induction. Anna Gordy made her last appearance with her famous brother Berry, who founded Motown Records, at a red carpet event where Berry was honored, in 2008.
