The timing is perfect: Harmony Korine’s co-ed caper Spring Breakers , starring former tween queens Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, a RiFF RaFF-channeling James Franco , and all the VICE-ready skankster stars one film can hold, is set for a spring 2013 release via A24 and Annapurna Pictures. The tale of four bikini-clad college students bent on having the craziest spring break ever (under the guidance of Franco’s blinged-out rapper) debuted at the Venice Film Festival before making a splash in Toronto this fall. Per a press release, A24 and Annapurna, led by producer/indie dream-maker Megan Ellison, “plan a Spring 2013 release with heavy promotion around spring break.” In other news: Duh. SPRING BREAKERS tells the story of four sexy college girls as they plan to fund their spring break getaway by robbing a fast food joint. But that’s only the beginning… At a motel room rager, fun reaches its legal limit and the girls are arrested and taken to jail. Hungover and clad only in bikinis, the girls appear before a judge but are bailed out unexpectedly by Alien (James Franco), an infamous local thug and amateur rapper who takes them under his wing and leads them on the wildest Spring Break trip in history. `Rough on the outside but with a soft soul on the inside, Alien wins over the hearts and dreams of the young SpringBreakers, and leads them on a Spring Break they never could have imagined. Guess who’s not in Kansas, anymore? That would be James Franco in Oz The Great And Powerful. He plays two-bit magician Oscar Diggs who rides a hot-air balloon into a cyclone and travels from a dusty black-and-white world into a vibrant colorful one populated with munchkins and witches, played by Rachel Weisz , Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams . Judging from this trailer, director Sam Raimi has done a good job of creating a sense of continuity between this prequel to The Wizard of Oz and the original. The black-and-white-to-color switch mirrors Dorothy’s trip to Oz and the munchkins, well, they could very well be the brethren of the original Lollipop Guild. At the same time, this clip reveals some fresh Raimi-esque touches that make Oz look more fantastical — and more dangerous. That sharp-toothed sprite in one of the shots is a combination of friendly and malevolent that never fails to creep me out, and that last shot of the flying monkeys indicates they will be a lot more fearsome this time around. Then there’s the big question: Does Oz: The Great and Powerful sync up with a Pink Floyd album the way that Dark Side of the Moon does with the original?

Ashley Benson and James Franco have a secret, and they just can’t keep it. According to New York Post sources, the Pretty Little Liars star and the do-everything actor are totally a new item. Benson and Franco – who both appeared in the film Spring Breakers – were spotted on multiple occasions over the past few weeks, first at Washington Square Park and then holding hands at the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride. “They have been seeing each other for a little over a month, but things are going well,” an insider tells the newspaper . Reps both have remained silent regarding the rumor. Franco, meanwhile, was actually linked to Kristen Stewart at the Toronto International Film Festival. But those reports were never confirmed.

When the nails started falling out of her bedroom ceiling one night, Tracy, a Rock Hill, N.C., mother of five, thought it might be an animal up in the attic. She thought wrong. It was her ex-boyfriend. After her older son went up to investigate, the dude came down from the attic without any explanation and left with a smile before police could arrive. According to the Charlotte Observer, the man had been living in the attic by the heating unit for about two weeks, having just been released from jail.

Kristen Stewart says she and Robert Pattinson are doing fine. But might that stop being the case if the actress moves on from this famous long-term relationship… with James Franco?!? According to witnesses as the Toronto International Film Festival, the stars “bumped into each other” and engaged in a 20-minute conversation over the weekend. “There was a lot of flirting and Kristen was overjoyed by the attention she was getting from James, who was gushing over her, saying what a great actress he thinks she is and was full of praise for her latest movie, On the Road ,” claims this insider. Franco allegedly asked for Stewart’s number. He also asked her out and the mole says Kristen is “mulling over” that invitation. “James definitely wants to see Kristen again, and there’s nothing better for a heartbroken girl than to be admired by a handsome man,” the source adds. While Stewart supposedly weighs Franco’s offer, Pattinson is also sort of being courted by a fellow A-lister. Rumors persist over Rihanna texting Rob in an effort to raise his spirits, as he and Kristen play the same kind of game that anyone involved in a major breakup is often forced to engage in: Who will move on first?
