By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by James Lacsina Ciara Photo: Rick Diamond/ Getty Images With her fourth album on shelves, there is one word that sums up what Ciara is feeling right now: pride. The ATL princess’ latest effort, Basic Instinct, landed on shelves Tuesday, and when MTV News caught up with the songstress, who was hanging out in the studio with hit architect Tricky Stewart, she was super amped that the album was available for mass consumption. “I’m so excited. I’m very, very, very proud of this record, and I’ve always said out of all of my albums, this is the one that’s most dedicated to my fans,” she said of the collection of snappy, sultry jams that includes “Ride” and “Speechless.” The R&B star said the album’s arrival is just the start of the good times, chatting about heading out on tour and shooting more videos. “I told Tricky, I’m like, ‘Releasing the record is the start of the process.’ I’m just now starting my promos and just starting to get into the groove, and it’s just really important that my fans get to hear the music,” she said. “The journey is just beginning in my mind, that’s how I feel. This is when the fun really starts to kick in and starts to get turned up.” While the “Gimmie Dat” hitmaker is brimming with pride, she’s also keyed up about fans turning up the album and joining the fun. “For me, I’m just really, really excited for my fans to have the record,” she said. “I’m very, very, very, very happy with the way that it came out.” Are you feeling Ciara’s latest album? Tricky Stewart Defends New Michael Jackson Tune, ‘Keep Your Head’

‘This was a record that [MJ] wrote and that he produced. And I just got in there,’ the producer maintains. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by James Lacsina Tricky Stewart Photo: MTV News While detractors of Michael Jackson’s Michael album cry foul over the unfinished material that makes up the bulk of the posthumous project, producer Christopher “Tricky” Stewart is insisting that his contribution to the release was material MJ put together — and finished — himself. In the case of “Keep Your Head Up,” one of the album’s biggest standouts, Stewart told MTV News that the track was not a remake of any kind. Rather, he just added minor additional production flourishes to the number. “The main thing I wanted to do was make sure that Michael would like it,” said Stewart, who has worked with Beyonc

Will Demi Lovato Be On Selena Gomez’s Album? Demi Dishes

Rumors have been circulating that the two Disney stars would work together on Gomez’s A Year Without Rain. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato at the “Camp Rock 2” premiere Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage With so much talk that Selena Gomez’s fellow Disney princess “Sonny With a Chance” star Demi Lovato may make an appearance on her forthcoming album, A Year Without Rain , fans of both the “Wizards of Waverly Place” star and the “Camp Rock 2” star may have been hoping that the two songstresses would get together for some funky pop-music collaboration. So when MTV News caught up with Demi Lovato on Wednesday night at the “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” premiere in New York City, we wanted to know if there was any truth to those rumors. “No! It’s not true,” Lovato shared about the album, which is also said to have songs featuring Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus. “I think she’s already finished with her album.” However, she didn’t totally rule out ever working with Gomez, especially given that she’s hard at work on her own album. “I don’t know,” she said about a possible collaboration. Whether or not a Gomez-Lovato partnership does ever happen, she’s still focused on her wish list of having Drake and Trey Songz on her new record. And she’s looking forward to using her big voice on the R&B-influenced album . “It’s really nice to embrace it,” she said. “I grew up singing R&B and then I grew up listening to rock, so it was kind of weird. But I’m kind of learning how to incorporate the two and I’m having a good time with it. … I can put my vocal stylings on songs that are R&B and it showcases my vocals more than just singing really loud on a rock song.” Would you like to hear Selena and Demi on a track together? ‘Breaking Dawn’ Star Nikki Reed Is ‘Starting To Get’ Justin Bieber

‘He’s a talented kid,’ the actress tells MTV News of her late-breaking case of Bieber Fever. By Kara Warner Nikki Reed Photo: James Lacsina/ MTV News When it comes to rabid fans, it would seem that the “Twilight” franchise fanbase and that of teen chart-topper Justin Bieber have a lot in common. For instance, both have extremely dedicated fans, complete with playful nicknames — “Twi-hards,” “Be-liebers.” Both groups are prone to burst into ear-piercing screams and heavily influence awards-show voting. So when MTV News recently caught up with “Breaking Dawn” star Nikki Reed , we asked whether she had any special insight into Bieber Fever, having experienced the kind of fan-demonium he has. “I didn’t really understand that for a while, and I finally get it,” she said about the singer while promoting her new flick “Last Day of Summer.” Reed said her “a-ha” moment came when she stumbled upon vintage Bieber videos online, which show the singer at 6 years old, playing guitar on the side of the road. “The excitement and passion in his eyes and his voice, this little tiny kid holding this big huge guitar … he’s singing, his voice penetrates into the world,” Reed recalled. “People across the street were listening, it’s truly incredible. He’s a talented kid.” The “Twilight” actress added that while she might not personally fit into his demographic, she has slowly come to realize the power of Bieber. “He’s got a very specific look and style thing that he’s going for. I didn’t understand or connect with that [at first], just like the Jonas Brothers, but I’m starting to get it with the Biebs.” Are you surprised to hear Nikki Reed is a fan of the Biebs? ‘Vampire Diaries’ Cast Reacts To ‘Bonkers’ Season Finale

‘I had a lot of fun being crazy and doing bad things,’ Nina Dobrev says of Thursday’s shocking episode. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Paul Wesley Photo: Valerie Macon/ Getty Images On Thursday night’s season finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” fans were treated to a thrill ride of plot twists, turns and OMG moments. With some cast members dying, others with lives left in peril and still others with secrets revealed, fans are left salivating to find out what will happen when season two returns later this year. And while viewers were left stunned by the road the finale went down, even the cast couldn’t believe how the season all came to a head. “There’s a bunch of cliffhangers and surreal, strange things that occur in this last episode,” Steven R. McQueen, who plays Jeremy, told MTV News at the Young Hollywood Awards on Thursday night. “I think we all took it as a blessing to be able to play these strange situations that can never occur in real life and just feel honored and blessed.” Zach Roerig, who plays Matt, added, “Very eloquently said, right?” And Candice Accola summed up the episode, saying, “It was a bonkers finale — is everyone flipping out?” But what Accola wouldn’t dish on is whether Tyler (Michael Trevino) is a werewolf, an aspect of his life teased in the finale. “I plead the Fifth. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Who knows? I don’t know,” she said, adding that she also doesn’t know what will happen to her character, Caroline, after the car crash. “I don’t know. This is going to be such a pain in the butt for you ’cause I don’t know. There is a car crash that happens, but I really don’t know the outcome of it.” The show’s male lead, Paul Wesley (Stefan), initially had his fears about doing so much in the finale, but he was truly pleased by the way it all turned out. “Well, I was like, ‘Whoa, this a huge endeavor,’ ” he said. “The last four pages … really take the audience on a little bit of a thrill ride. I mean, the whole thing’s good, but the way it ends is kind of incredible.” His love interest on the show, Nina Dobrev (Elena), agrees. “I remember sitting in bed reading the script, and when I got towards the end it was so [crazy]. Every single episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ I feel I am always shocked and surprised. … This one being the finale has to exceed all expectations and go above and beyond,” she said. “And I think it does, and it’s crazy and fun, and I had a lot of fun being crazy and doing bad things.” Did you see the finale? Robert Pattinson Gets Birthday Greetings From Young Hollywood

Vanessa Hudgens, Stephanie Pratt and others wish RPattz the best at Nylon , YouTube party. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Robert Pattinson Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images HOLLYWOOD — Everyone from Nylon ‘s May cover girls, Vanessa Hudgens, Portia Doubleday and Ashley Greene, to Zac Efron and the girls from “The City” and “The Hills” stopped by the Nylon and YouTube Young Hollywood Party held at the Roosevelt Hotel on Wednesday night. And while they were all there to celebrate young Hollywood’s finest, Robert Pattinson’s 24th birthday was also on some minds — well, particularly when MTV News asked them about it on the red carpet. “Rob, I hope you have the best birthday ever, and let me know where your party is,” Stephanie Pratt addressed the “Twilight” star via MTV News. “I will be there!” Chelsea Staub from the TV show “JONAS” seemed to want to join Pratt at Pattinson’s birthday bash. “If you want to party, give me a call,” she said. “Happy birthday!” Vanessa Hudgens said with a giggle. “I whole-heartedly wish you a happy birthday,” “The Buried Life” star Ben Nemtin said. His gal pal, “The City” star Whitney Port, added simply, “Happy birthday!” The conversation very quickly turned to what these young Hollywood stars would give Pattinson for his big day. “A fish taco, ’cause fish tacos are really good,” Nemtin said. “And if you haven’t had one for your birthday, you should have one.” Hudgens was reluctant to presume what RPattz would want. “I met him once or twice. I don’t really know him,” she said. “I don’t know what he likes. So, I hope he has a good one.” Staub had the perfect gift idea: “Some ear plugs,” she suggested for the actor who’s greeted worldwide by screaming girls. “Because I’m sure he’s going to have hearing damage by the time his career is over.” Pratt, however, decided to take her gift to the next level. “Probably a tux to wear to our wedding,” she said. Miley Cyrus Shares ‘Credit’ For ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ Video

‘Amazing’ director and choreographer helped come up with concept, Cyrus tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Photo: MTV News Miley Cyrus might have taken some major strides toward her post-Disney career with the sexed-up video for “Can’t Be Tamed,” but the singer didn’t do it alone. When it came time to create a concept for the slick clip — for the title song from her upcoming June album — her director and choreographer helped the star get creative. “I worked with Robert Hales, who is an amazing director,” she raved to MTV News about Hales, who has also worked with Demi Lovato, the Jonas Brothers and Justin Timberlake. “And again, I didn’t look at any of his work he’s done previously. I don’t even know really what he’s done previously.” Instead, the two focused on what they could do now that Cyrus is beginning to plot out life after “Hannah Montana.” “I just know that when we talked and what I said, he got excited and envisioned it the way I did,” Cyrus said. “And that’s what I wanted. I wanted someone that would get excited about it, and he was. So it was awesome. My choreographer, Jamal [Sims], also helped me come up with the concept. … I definitely am not going to take full credit.” The result of her collaboration is a clip that, according to Miley , can’t be compared to previous music videos. “I made a big point to everyone that I didn’t want anyone else to watch a music video and show me and say, ‘This is what I think we should do,’ ” she said. “I don’t think it looks like any other music video. I think if we would have looked at another music video or listened to another song or looked at a different artist, it could have easily [been influenced].” What do you think of Miley’s moves in the “Can’t Be Tamed” video?
