VIDEO: Judd Apatow Offers Oscar Host James Franco Advice About Cunnilingus Jokes

Maybe James Franco is a little more worried about co-hosting this year’s Oscars than he originally led on . In a new video, the actor frantically (well, this is as frantic as anyone has ever seen James Franco) seeks hosting pointers from Pineapple Express scribe — and Producers Guild Awards host — Judd Apatow. Naturally, this advice covers the perennial appropriateness of cunnilingus jokes at black tie events. You’re going to want to see this for yourself.

American Idol Hollywood Week: God Bless None of These Children

Hollywood week wrapped up last night, but most of the auditioners left the Kodak without fielding a word of terrible scrutiny. Let’s fix that! I’m going to be ruthless. When you destroy the classics of Ray Charles and, uh, Bobby Brown with your snarly showboating, I nominate myself to hurt your feelings. Onward.

Jacob Lusk Lets It Out On ‘American Idol’ With ‘God Bless The Child’

Judge Steven Tyler tells singer’s family to ‘be proud’ after emotional performance. By Adam Graham Jacob Lusk on “American Idol” on February 17, 2011 Photo: FOX Where has “American Idol” been hiding Jacob Lusk? The 23-year-old spa concierge from Compton, California, who had barely been seen prior to Thursday’s (February 17) episode, stepped out in a big way during the final Hollywood Week show , flooring the judges and his fellow contestants with one of the most stunning, stirring auditions ever seen on the “Idol” stage. Lusk, dressed in a pair of blue jeans and an untucked tuxedo shirt, hit the stage and gave a wildly original take on Billie Holiday’s “God Bless the Child” that had him flexing his range from deep lows to high highs, and scatting between the lyrics. His expressive face contoured around each of the words, as he clenched his eyes tightly and flexed his eyebrows to give emphasis to each of his lines. Jennifer Lopez looked puzzled by his unorthodox delivery at first, but it wasn’t long before all three judges were screaming in amazement, with Steven Tyler leaning back in his seat and getting Randy Jackson’s attention with a huge, “Woooooo-hoooooo!” Soon Lopez was whooping too, and all three judges — and a handful of Lusk’s fellow contestants — were on their feet in the auditorium. As Lusk wrapped up, Tyler turned to Lusk’s family in the audience and yelled, “Be proud!” Lusk jumped up and down onstage after seeing his peers’ and the judges’ reactions and blew a kiss to the crowd before quickly darting out of the room. Outside, he was greeted by Ryan Seacrest and members of his family, and Lusk appeared physically and emotionally spent. He fell into his family members’ arms and wailed with tears, before catching himself and explaining, “I’m not a cryer, I don’t cry.” Said Seacrest, “Coulda fooled me.” After the auditions, contestants were quarantined in four separate rooms as they awaited their fate from the judges. But it had to be a comfort for everyone in Lusk’s room to know they were grouped with the man who just brought down the house onstage like few had before him, and sure enough, when it came time to deliver the news, they all graduated through to the next round. ‘American Idol’ Hollywood Week Ends With A Ticket To Vegas

Clint Jun Gamboa, Jacee Badeaux, John Wayne Schulz and Julie Zorrilla among the 50 moving on. By Gil Kaufman Contestants audition on “American Idol” Thursday Photo: FOX And then there were 50. If you thought Wednesday night’s “American Idol” was harsh, the final night of Hollywood Week really brought down the hammer. Unlike the previous night, when the show dithered away with group dynamics, Thursday night’s (February 17) show jumped right into it, presenting what host Ryan Seacrest promised was one of the most talented group of Hollywood finalists ever assembled. And, for once, he wasn’t just blowing smoke, as some of season 10’s standout singers brought it and punched their ticket to next week’s Vegas round. Haley Reinhart, 20, barely made it through the previous round after forgetting her lyrics, but the 20-year-old Wheeling, Illinois, student was back on track Thursday night, growling out a gritty and bombastic “God Bless the Child.” Though we’d barely met Tennessee’s 24-year old Ashton Jones before — she was in Ashley Sullivan’s group the night before — she killed it with a soulful “Idol” favorite “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” Confident 15-year-old Thia Megia got no shine Wednesday, but when she got back in the spotlight, she did it again, showing some supple vocal beauty with a cool “What a Wonderful World.” The girls definitely brought it, so it was up to the boys to prove they had it too. One of the rising stars, karaoke host Clint Jun Gamboa, peeled the paint off the walls with his dynamic cover of Ray Charles’ “Georgia,” a feat almost equaled on the same tune by sultry 22-year-old Tennessee office manager Kendra Chantelle, who traded bombast for buttery softness. Chris Medina went out of the box with an acoustic ramble through Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative,” which was also picked by onetime groupmate Carson Higgins. The blond beach bum played it straight with the band, doing a high-energy, slightly spastic soul shout, while Medina did a Dave Matthews-like folk strum take that didn’t go over as well. Able to play their instruments for the first time, a number of the contestants took the opportunity, including Los Angeles student Julie Zorrilla, getting jazzy at the keyboard on Sara Bareilles’ “Love Song.” Murfreesboro, Tennessee, emo kid Colton Dixon, who came on strong during group night, emoted his way through a dramatic version of Daughtry’s “What About Now,” while 16-year-old Florida student Brett Loewenstern strapped on his acoustic for a fragile stroll through Brandi Carlile’s “The Story.” Melodica-blowing soul man Casey Abrams keeps surprising, and he continued his streak by being the first “Idol” contestant to bust out a stand-up bass for a finger-snapping jazzbo dig at Ray Charles’ “Georgia on my Mind” that earned a standing ovation. Already without her ex-boyfriend by her side, Chelsee Oaks seemed distraught when former groupmate Jacqueline Dunford was forced to bow out of the competition due to illness. The Nashville waitress pulled it together and dug down deep for an emotional “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson, but her nerves were evident. After producers dropped the age limit to 15, a number of teens have proven their worth, none more than 15-year-old Lauren Alaina, whose big personality and charming smile have worked their magic on the judges. The savvy high-schooler kept in judge Steven Tyler’s good graces by reprising her cover of his band’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” putting a cocktail-lounge spin on the bombastic ballad, complete with a piled-on-top curly hairstyle. We just met Jacob Lusk the night before, and the Bobby McFerrin-like master of vocal tics and tricks did his thing again with a whisper-to-a-scream gospel throwdown on “God Bless the Child.” It’s been awhile since we saw real-life cowboy John Wayne Schulz , but his strummy aw-shucks cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” mesmerized the crowd and inspired judge Jennifer Lopez to harmonize along. The unpredictable Sullivan proved to be the bundle of nerves she’s promised, falling apart singing Michael Bubl

Justin Bieber Runs Into Esperanza Spalding Backstage At The Grammys

Plus: Nicki Minaj gets grabby with Snooki, Arcade Fire give high-fives and more from behind the scenes. By James Montgomery Esperanza Spalding and Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News LOS ANGELES — There was nothing left to do after his band shocked pretty much everyone by taking home Album of the Year for The Suburbs (and breaking into an elated performance of “Ready to Start” that closed the show), so Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler was just handing out high-fives. Backstage at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards , on the way to the press room to share his feelings about winning the night’s top prize, Butler was doling out the high-fives to startled members of the media, a permanent smile stretched across his face. Equally as jovial — even though he lost Best New Artist to Esperanza Spalding — was Justin Bieber, who, after finishing an interview with MTV News , literally walked into Spalding backstage. But rather than be bitter, Bieber shook hands with the newly crowned Grammy winner, congratulating her on her victory. It was a long day of those kinds of once-in-a-lifetime interactions at the Grammys, as the biggest stars in music packed into the Staples Center to honor their own. Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson embraced and laughed after the stirring tribute to Aretha Franklin that opened the show. Mumford & Sons huddled with their brass band minutes before sharing the stage with Bob Dylan, and Nicki Minaj was introduced to one of her “heroes,” Cyndi Lauper. Outside, on the Grammy red carpet, well, it was all about special MTV News correspondent (and “Jersey Shore” star) Snooki , who flirted with Bruno Mars, told Tyrese he was “hot” and informed R&B legend Ronald Isley matter-of-factly that he has “nice teeth.” Snooki told Hudson and Jennifer Lopez that they both looked fantastic and, when Lady Gaga arrived on the carpet inside her egg , not only did the Snookster shout that she “loved” Gaga, but LG returned the love, waving to her from inside the egg. “I’ve seriously got chills!” Snooki enthused. Elsewhere, Snooki let Minaj grab a handful of both her breasts, she pouted when Rihanna didn’t walk the carpet, and, when Lil Wayne blew by, huge cigar in his mouth, she tried to stop him by shouting his name. He didn’t hear her, and Snook was upset. “That sucks,” she sighed. “I love him.” It was, to be honest, probably the only low point of the entire day. That’s how these things tend to go, especially when there are so many stars in such a small place. High-fives all around. American Idol Hollywood Week: My Heart Barely Goes On

Confession! I forgot something about the first episode of Idol ‘s “Hollywood Week,” which in many ways is my favorite stretch of the season: You sometimes don’t see nearly enough singers, and for that you feel shafted. I know I do! Mathematician Ryan Seacrest claimed 168 people survived the first cut, but we only saw a meager sliver of that swath. Let’s slice up as many of the remaining candidates as possible and figure where our allegiances lie. (Spoiler: I hate some of them!)

Ke$ha Says She’s ‘Disappointed’ By Grammy Snub

‘I plan on making a lot more records, and hopefully one of them will be Grammy-worthy,’ singer tells Vanity Fair. By James Dinh Ke$ha Photo: Jordan Strauss/ Getty Images Last year was full of breakout music stars, including Ke$ha , who ruled the scene with a string of dance-pop hits (and a massive overflow of glitter). But not everyone is a Ke$ha fan: The singer was snubbed when the 2011 Grammy nominees were announced in December. The starlet recently spoke to Vanity Fair about the Grammy snub and said she’s determined to score a nod sometime later in her career. And after calling the Recording Academy’s award “not that big a deal,” Ke$ha admitted that she was saddened by her lack of nominations. “Of course I do,” the singer said when asked if she wanted a Grammy. “I was disappointed that I didn’t get nominated. But I’ve only been around for a year. I’m friends with the Black Keys, and they were nominated for the first time this year. And they’ve been around for a decade. That’s like half my life, so I really can’t be a brat about it.” Ke$ha isn’t bitter about the situation either, telling the magazine, “I plan on making a lot more records, and hopefully one of them will be Grammy-worthy.” While she may not be gearing up for the big show on Sunday night, Ke$ha is prepping for the launch of her first North American headlining tour, the Get $leazy Tour . The country-wide trek is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday in Portland, Oregon, and continue through May. Do you think Ke$ha deserved a Grammy nomination? Share your thoughts in the comments! Miley Cyrus To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ On March 5

The teen star’s appearance will be her first time hosting the long-running sketch-comedy show. By Aly Semigran Miley Cyrus Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images If you’re a Miley Cyrus fan, here’s some news that’s “like, prit-tay cool!” The 18-year-old singer/actress is slated to host “Saturday Night Live” for the first time on March 5, People.com has confirmed. Unlike some previous genre-spanning celebs who have hosted the sketch-comedy show such as Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Lopez, though, Cyrus won’t pull double duty as the evening’s musical guest. There’s no word yet on who will provide the musical entertainment on the episode. The teenage phenom has been something of a fixture on “SNL” over the past season, with new castmember Vanessa Bayer’s dead-on impersonation of the “Hannah Montana” star in the sketch “The Miley Cyrus Show” seen semi-regularly on the late-night program. In it, Bayer — joined by Jason Sudeikis as her overly eager dad, Billy Ray Cyrus — portrays Miley as she interviews other celebrities while often interjecting her own stories and expressing that everything is, well, “pretty cool.” Cyrus — who has two upcoming comedy films, “So Undercover” and “LOL,” in the works — has also been the butt of some jokes because of her now-infamous bong/salvia-smoking moment, which was all caught on tape and posted online in December 2010. The teen sensation has since addressed the incident, admitting in a recent Marie Claire cover story, “For me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for.” In addition to the “SNL” hosting gig in three weeks, Cyrus will appear at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards as a presenter. How do you think Miley will do as “SNL” host? Tell us in the comments. For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
