Lindsay Lohan Smelled of Alcohol During Car Crash; New Plea Deal in the Works

Lindsay Lohan may have been drinking just before she crashed her Porsche last June on Pacific Coast Highway, but a field sobriety test was not performed. Law enforcement sources say a bottle of alcohol was found next to Lindsay’s Porsche, and her breath smelled of alcohol; it’s unclear if she was drinking. Despite this new revelation, prosecutors are reportedly offering a new plea bargain that does NOT involve jail, proving she truly is the luckiest person alive. The Santa Monica City Attorney is prepared to offer Lindsay 60 days in a rehab facility in her lying-to-cops case, four months less than their initial offer. In addition, the City Attorney wants Lindsay to attend another set of AA meetings, and do community service – closely monitored, not a la Chris Brown . To be clear, Lindsay faces both criminal charges for lying to police in the wake of the crash, and the probation violation that offense potentially triggered. It’s not a good position to be in, but like always, she may escape it. TMZ says the wild card is that the L.A. City Attorney is also involved because they’re handling the jewelry heist case where Lindsay is still on probation. Up to now, we’re told the L.A. City Attorney wanted jail time for the probation violation, but the prosecutor may clear a path by backing off that position. The plea bargain meeting between prosecutors and Lindsay’s lawyer, Mark Heller – who previously alleged Lohan was not read her rights – is today. Stay tuned for those fireworks. Lindsay Lohan Facing Eight MONTHS in Jail

Lindsay Lohan could be headed to the can for a long time, according to reports. The fallout from her recent run-ins with the law could mean 245 days behind bars. When Hot Mess Anonymous is arraigned Wednesday for allegedly lying to police following her car accident last June, the judge will likely revoke her probation. Linds is on probation for her jewelry heist conviction. Judge Stephanie Sautner will then set a date for a hearing to formally decide if Lindsay Lohan violated the terms of her probation by breaking the law again. The hearing will take place at the same time LiLo stands trial on criminal charges – this is unrelated to her punching Tiffany Mitchell , for which she was also arrested. Even if Lindsay is found not guilty in the criminal case, the judge can still rule she violated probation; proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is not required. The stakes for Lindsay are high, to say the least. She’s looking at eight months in jail for just the probation violation, and that doesn’t include the potential jail time if she’s convicted in the car accident case. Another bad sign? The L.A. City Attorney is “out for blood” and will file papers Wednesday asking that Lindsay’s probation be revoked, according to TMZ. The judge makes that determination on her own – prosecutors don’t even have to ask for it – but their voice will certainly be heard, and their voice won’t be kind. Of course, this is Lindsay Lohan. She’s pulled legal rabbits out of her hat more times than we can even count. Hell, she makes beating the rap look easy. The 26-year-old star always claims police are out to get her … maybe the judge will agree and give her one more chance for the 74th consecutive time. Lindsay Lohan: Police Are OUT TO GET ME!

Despite being a compulsive liar and having no one else to blame but herself for probably two-thirds of her problems, Lindsay Lohan remains convinced police are out to get her. Lohan, who is facing jail time for her most recent probation violation, is telling friends that the cops have a vendetta against her and will stop at nothing to bring her down. Best of all, Lindsay is STILL CLAIMING that she wasn’t driving when her Porsche slammed into a truck in June. Officials do not concur and will charge her with lying to police . LiLo claimed she was a passenger in her car, and that her assistant was the one who was actually driving and caused the Pacific Coast Highway Crash. Yet witnesses say she was in fact behind the wheel . Obviously. Lindsay is said to be “terrified” of going back to jail, especially since Judge Stephanie Sautner made it clear she would revoke her probation and send her ass back there. If she breaks the law again, that is. Sautner can revoke probation on mere suspicion – without having to wait for a conviction – of a crime, but it remains to be seen if she will. She’s tough, but fair after all. Lindsay says she’s done a good job obeying the law since her no contest plea in the jewelry heist case, which tells you a lot about her self-perception problems. Still, she plans to throw herself at the mercy of the court, supposedly, in an attempt to stay out of the pokey. Ace Young Proposes to Diana DeGarmo on American Idol Finale!

Move over, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez. Ace Young just stole your spotlight. About a half hour prior to American Idol announcing its season 11 champion tonight, Young and Diana DeGarmo – who met during a production of Hair – were called on to the stage by Ryan Seacrest. Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo Get Engaged on American Idol Finale Young then got down on one knee, and in a proposal/product placement for Dave Webb Jewelry, said to his live-in girlfriend: “I want to make this last forever, and I will do anything in my power to have the most amazing life together, if you will have me.” Through tears, DeGarmo accepted! “I’m so speechless right now,” she said after Young put the engagement ring on her finger. “My makeup’s running!” Diane finished second on the third season of Idol in 2004, while Young placed seventh on season five. Congrats to the happy couple!

2 Chainz Arrest: Rapper Claims Jewelry Mistaken For Brass Knuckles, Laments Assassination of Swag

Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested at NYC’s LaGuardia Airport this week for packing what TSA officials called “brass knuckles” in his carry-on luggage. It turns out it was just his four-finger ring, but police weren’t buying it and 2 Chainz, a.k.a. Tity Boi, had to spend a few hours in jail as a result. Not only that, police confiscated his jewelry as well. Tough break. “They tried to assassinate my character, they tried to assassinate my swag,” 2 Chainz told MTV News in a surprisingly upbeat interview after the fact. “It was just a negative dilemma earlier where someone misconstrued a piece of jewelry for a weapon and stuff.” Word … we’ve all been there, right? Police charged him with misdemeanor possession of a weapon. “The knuckles were in his personal bag and sounded the alarm,” an officer said. “I do exclusive pieces. My pieces are actual conversation pieces, like literally. When you see my gold, it’s something to conversate about,” he explained. “People weren’t doing four-finger rings and all that. I like to set myself apart … I definitely wasn’t trying to beat nobody up on the plane or nothing.” 2 Chainz eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser unspecified charge, but never did get his jewels back … or the designer case he totes them in. “Yeah they took it from me, they took the custom Louis [Vuitton] case that I actually keep the jewelry in, they took that. I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “Me just trying to explain it was getting too frustrating, it was just me there trying to explain my occupation … It was like a weird experience.” Undoubtedly, 2 Chainz. A statement from the jewelry designer to The Hollywood Reporter, which originally reported the engagement, read: “I can confirm that, yes, Robert Procop did indeed design an engagement ring for Angelina Jolie, designed in collaboration with Brad Pitt.” People also obtained a statement from the designer: “Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so Robert was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand.” Procop, who works with Jolie on her “The Style of Jolie” jewelry line, added, “Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.” Rumors of an engagement originated when Jolie — along with Pitt and their son Pax — was spotted with a whopping piece of bling on her finger. The family was photographed at a private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Chinese Galleries on Wednesday. The pair got together in 2005 after meeting on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. They have six kids together, who frequently travel with the couple across the globe. The twosome have been pretty vocal over the years about not getting married until everyone has the right to marry, but in an interview earlier this year with THR, Pitt seemed to be warming up to the idea, mostly because of their kids. “We’d actually like to,” he said of his seven-year partner, Jolie, “and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.” He added, “I’m not going to go any further. Can the up-and-coming singer shock the world and win MMM? We’ll find out when the tournament tips off Monday. By James Montgomery Gotye Photo: MTV News / Getty Images Gotye has already made huge strides in the U.S. thanks to the crossover success of his hit “Somebody That I Used to Know,” but now he’s looking to truly cement his status as a Stateside sensation … by winning MTV’s Musical March Madness tournament. The third-annual MMM tips off Monday, and if the Belgian-born, Australian-bred singer/songwriter is really going to best 63 other acts — including defending champs Green Day, heavyweights like the Black Keys and Ke$ha , and up-and-comers Fun. — to hoist the big gold trophy, well, he’s definitely got his work cut out for him. So it’s a good thing that he’s been working hard on the fundamentals … like the art of the well-placed screen. “To win, it’s going to be all about screening. Screening is the key, people,” he explained. “A lot of people in bands don’t realize what it’s all about, but you’ve got to screen people, to keep your vocalists at center. It’s all about focus and screening, back and forth, not a lot of people know that.” Ah, the screen: Catalyst behind the pick-and-roll … the old “picket fence” play … basketball building blocks, people. It’s the same time-honored skill Roger Waters used to take home the 1973 Musical March Madness tourney (note: not actually true), and one that Gotye hopes to employ to maximum success in this year’s big dance. “Roger Waters and his ‘walls,’ he set a lot of hard screens with lots of blocks,” he laughed. “If you’ve got a 10-piece band, keep your main player away from the play, and then at the right moment, just screen the whole audience away, so just one person gets that special look. Photo: Getty Images March 9, 1997: There was absolutely nothing that could have prepared hip-hop fans for the tragic event that took place on that grim day. Then again, there was not much warning when the Notorious B.I.G. entered the hip-hop world either. Sure, there were key cameos on records with Mary J. Blige and reggae star Super Cat, but when all was said and done and B.I.G. was gunned down 15 years ago today , it became clear that rap had lost one of the great ones — perhaps the greatest one of all time. In the beginning, Biggie Smalls wasn’t even the most prominent star on his label. That position was occupied by rapper Craig Mack, whose 1994 hit single “Flava in Ya Ear” initially set the mark of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ newly minted Bad Boy Records. B.I.G. was a respected lyricist, a raw rapper who at first seemed unlikely to make a mark on radio. In fact, one of his earliest singles, “Just Playing (Dreams),” poked fun at some of music’s biggest hitmakers like Mariah Carey and Patti LaBelle. Then, on September 13, 1994, things done changed. On his debut album, Ready to Die, Biggie would find an exceptional balance between the unapologetic street rhymes for which he was heralded and a newfound sense of the type of pop sensibility that radio programmers love. On “Gimme the Loot,” he threatened to rob a pregnant woman for her jewelry and then managed to sweet-talk the ladies on “Big Poppa.” On his “One More Chance” remix, Big described himself as “black and ugly as ever,” and though he didn’t possess the physique of an LL Cool J, Biggie’s charm made him an unlikely sex symbol. Ready to Die would go on to be certified platinum four times over by the RIAA, but between the bootleg copies and albums sold in largely unaccounted for mom-and-pop shops, its impact was much greater. Rappers like Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem readily admit the influence that Big’s opus had on their own art.
