Jimmy Fallon Brings You the Soundtrack for Memorial Day

Despite evidence to the contrary, this isn’t Jimmy Fallon Week here at Movieline, though you’d be forgiven for thinking it was. After all, between the nightly running commentary he’s been doing online and his appearance at the Paley Center , it’s been all Jimmy, all the time. And really, why not? The Late Night host seems preternaturally able to create bits and jokes that permeate the zeitgeist. The latest that’s sure to qualify? A hand-clapping, sing-along called “Balls in Your Mouth.” Tar balls. Because finding new and original ways to satirize the environmental catastrophe caused by BP has become the coin of the realm for late night hosts. After the jump, listen to the song — however be forewarned: You’ll be singing this earworm at every barbecue you attend over the next three days.

Ranking the Reunions: Jimmy Fallon Already Plotting Next TV Meet-Up

Because you don’t actually need an excuse to have Brian Williams and Jimmy Fallon charm an audience for 90 minutes, the Paley Center for Media in New York last night hosted a chat between the two NBC stalwarts. And while their conversation was filled with fun factoids about the Late Night host’s showbiz career — and some sad revelations, like that Fallon has no plans to make any more movies; whither Taxi 2 — the most exciting part might have been Fallon’s answer to an audience question about what television reunion he plans on beating the drum for next. For the uninitiated, Fallon famously tried to get the cast of Saved By the Bell together — he didn’t succeed — and later turned the trick with the much less popular California Dreams . So who does he have in mind now?

Jimmy Fallon Recalls How a Forgotten Will Ferrell Character Influenced his Late Night Performance Art

Jimmy Fallon threw one helluva party last night. You should have been there. And by there , I mean on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon ‘s blog, where the host and his writers threw a virtual viewing party of his show. But instead of just providing commentary of Jake Gyllenhaal doing karate , Jimmy performed an acoustic version of the Bee Gees’ “You Don’t Love Somebody,” fantasized about owning a chain of specialty spinach-dip restaurants and cold-called a fan on speakerphone. Oh, and then he told one behind-the-scenes Saturday Night Live anecdote that has never been heard — at least via NBC’ s live-stream — before.

Jimmy Fallon Makes His Late Night Hosting Debut With Justin Timberlake

It must have been a nerve wrecking day last night for Jimmy Fallon as he made his late night talk show host debut. The good news is that he had awesome guests for his first night. Justin Timberlake and Robert De Niro stopped by the show which must have made things a bit easier for Fallon. It seems like Fallon got some good reviews but naturally there was some bad ones as well. A Hollywood Reporter critic said, “He tried too hard, stumbled over his punchlines and struggled to make Robert De Niro seem interesting,” who basically said that Fallon had a “typically stiff debut.” Then comes the Entertainment Weekly critic who said that, “He did an ultra-ordinary monologue — one liners about President Obama and the deficit that sounded like material Jay Leno’s writers had faxed over from L.A.” “He still looked nervous…His eyes locked onto the cue cards more frequently than at us.” Ofcourse he was a nervous, it was his first day as a late night talk show host! Let’s give the guy the break he needs because chances are he will open up and his show will be great. Did you guys watch his debut? You be our critic, what did you think? Jimmy Fallon to Host Emmys

Neil Patrick Harris may have triumphed as the 2009 Emmys emcee, but now it’s NBC’ s turn to broadcast the show, and they’re selecting Jimmy Fallon to host the 2010 ceremony on August 29. Does this mean we’ll see a tuxedo-aided beer pong rematch with Betty White? What about a suspiciously choreographed Auto-Tune sketch ? Both will be fine distractions when Mad Men ‘s Matthew Weiner goes up to receive at least two more trophies. [ The Wrap ]
