Adele’s Brit Awards Interruption ‘A Shame’

‘I went straight backstage and spoke to her. I just wanted to say ‘I’m so sorry,’ ‘ show’s host James Corden says. By Jocelyn Vena Adele at the Brit Awards 2012 Photo: Getty Images Adele made headlines this week when she flashed her middle finger during the Brit Awards . The singer’s naughty gesture took place when she was interrupted during her acceptance speech for the Album of the Year award for her record-breaking 21. It all went down when the show’s host, British TV presenter and actor James Corden, hit the stage mid-speech and cut her off to introduce Brit rockers Blur’s performance. In the heat of the moment, the chart-topping British songstress threw up her middle finger to the show’s producers. In an interview with The Sun , Corden opened up about the headline-making moment. “Just after Adele said thank you, people were saying ‘You have to go on now. You have to do it now.’ I said: ‘How can we cut her off?’ It was such a surreal moment, all you can hear is five people in your ear having an argument and there’s one overriding voice saying ‘James you have to,’ ” he explained. “It’s a shame but it’s a live show and what can you do? It’s one of those things. The channel will learn from it, we’ll all learn from it and rectify that and change it next year.” Corden added, “I was so upset I didn’t even watch Blur. I went straight backstage and spoke to her. I just wanted to say ‘I’m so sorry, if I had it my way …’ — but unfortunately you can’t make those calls. It would have been a wonderful TV moment for Adele to have her moment in the sun and say what she had to say.” Related Photos Brit Awards 2012: Highlights Related Artists Adele

Justin Bieber Made A ‘Smash’ With Far East Movement

Producer RedOne opens up to MTV News about recording session. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kara Warner Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images Justin Bieber might be singing hooks like a G6 in the very near future. Super-producer RedOne told MTV News that he recently hit the studio with the teen star, and it involved dance-floor phenoms Far East Movement . “The Bieber thing, I don’t know if I’m allowed to mention it right now, but … I did a few songs with Far East Movement, and one of the songs … to me, it’s a smash,” he told us in his Los Angeles-area recording studio. “And Justin sang the chorus. It’s a really good song, and I think people are gonna dance like crazy to it.” While any other details about the project are top-secret, Red did praise the 17-year-old’s work ethic, maturity and musicality. “He’s very positive and he’s an amazing singer,” he said. “Amazing everything! He’s Justin Bieber. He’s a sensation. I think he’s becoming a man with his voice. He’s an incredible singer. So it’s not just the dance or the looks or the ‘Justin’ factor. He’s a real singer musician … He’s a real artist.” Currently, Bieber is busy recording his 2012 release, Believe, and there’s a chance RedOne could be involved in the album. But it will only happen if the twosome can cook up a choice track. “We’re trying to figure out some smashes together for his album,” he said. With RedOne’s part on the album still up in the air, there are plenty of other folks onboard with Bieber for the release, including producers Pharrell, Timbaland and will.i.am and rappers Drake and Lil Wayne . Believe will be released later this year. What are you hoping to hear from Justin’s new music? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Justin Bieber Far East Movement

Taylor Swift Looking To ‘Evolve’ On Next Album

‘Love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about,’ singer tells MTV News after premiering ‘Safe & Sound’ video. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Taylor Swift Photo: MTV News In 2010, Taylor Swift released the Grammy-winning Speak Now. The album was a study in the complexities of love and life, full of ponderings on the romance of new love and the pain of a broken affair. Drawing inspiration from her own life, the album topped the charts and kept Swift ever-present. As she embarks on her next album release, she tells MTV News that she’s still got work to do, even if her bosses at the record label are ready to pull the trigger on it. “So far, I’ve been writing so much in the last year and the label keeps telling me, ‘All right, we’re finished; all right, we’re satisfied; OK, this is done now.’ And then I just keep writing and I keep turning it in in different versions,” she told MTV News’ Sway during “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” when she dropped her video for her “The Hunger Games” track, “Safe & Sound.” “I’m going to work on it until I literally have zero time left to work on it, because I’m having so much fun working on this album,” she explained. “I made my last album, Speak Now, with this idea I really wanted to make an album without writing with anyone else just because I always wanted to do that. And now I have a different approach to this record. I’m getting to work with people that I’ve always wanted to work with.” That means that she’s seeking out some assistance “from all different places in music.” “I’m trying to be as much of a sponge as possible,” she explained. “You have to evolve and try new things and change and that’s what I’ve loved to do with this album.” But just because she’s trying some new things musically doesn’t mean she’s quite ready to move on from writing about love. “I think that love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about just because there are no two similar relationships, there are no two times that you feel love the same way or hurt the same way or [feel] rejection [in] the same way. It’s all different and I’m fascinated by that,” she said. “I really love to go back to human interaction and the way we make each other feel. But that at 22 is different than it was at 18 or 19 when I made my last album and 16 and 17 when I made Fearless. As you grow, you change in the way you process emotion.” What are you hoping to hear on Taylor Swift’s next album? Leave your comment below! Related Videos MTV First: Taylor Swift

‘Bourne’ Trailer Caught In Spider-Man’s Web

An avalanche of new trailers dominates the geek-tastic discussion in this week’s episode of Talk Nerdy! By Josh Wigler Jeremy Renner in “Bourne Legacy” Photo: Universal Studios Second to glorious football, the big reason to tune into the Super Bowl every year is the commercials. For movie fans, this year was a giant one: We got great new looks at Taylor Kitsch’s doubleheader in “Battleship” and “John Carter,” but the main event was Joss Whedon’s superhero-studded “Avengers.” But not to be outdone, another Marvel hero swung into action after the big game. “The Amazing Spider-Man” released its full theatrical trailer on Tuesday, spinning web-worthy chatter all week long. But even Spidey has to face some serious competition in the form of a new super spy who isn’t named Jason Bourne. We got into these trailers and more in this week’s Talk Nerdy, featuring special guest and closet nerd Rob Markman from MTV News’ hip-hop team! “Bourne” To Die There was never just one. Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne is as iconic as they come in the superspy scene, no doubt, but he has new company in the form of Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross. Cross steps into the forefront with this week’s release of the first “Bourne Legacy” teaser… but does it live up to its name? Is this a teaser worthy of the storied “Bourne” franchise? See what the Nerdy crew thinks in this week’s episode. Spider-Can Bourne doesn’t get the spotlight all to himself, of course. There’s also the new “Spider-Man” trailer to weigh in on this week! Andrew Garfield cracks wise and swings high in the Marvel icon’s classic red-and-blues, and overall, fans are very pleased with this latest “Amazing” look. That said, even with an awesome new trailer at his disposal, did Spider-Man win the superhero of the week award? Or did another of Earth’s mightiest comic book movies steal some of Spidey’s thunder? The “Phantom” Looms There’s lots to choose from at the box office this weekend, including the re-release of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” this time in 3-D. Is it worth going back to the world of a long time ago in a galaxy far away just for some new visual tricks, or are the weekend’s all-new releases more deserving of your hard-earned theatergoing cash? One nerd played it “Safe” on the issue, while another “Vow”-ed to see something special ahead of Valentine’s Day next week. Get their picks in the latest episode of Talk Nerdy. Justin Bieber ‘Too Humble’ To Give The Wanted Advice

U.K. boy band wrapped their first-ever U.S. tour Wednesday night in L.A. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images The Wanted landed on U.S. shores last month for their first-ever tour here in America, and what ensued was Beatlemania-like fandom. On Wednesday night, the U.K. boy band wrapped up the trek in L.A., and fans (including the Beckham family) came out in full force when they took the stage at the El Rey. The five Brits couldn’t believe the enthusiasm felt by the crowd, tweeting that the excitement for them was “unbelievable.” Even though the tour is over, the interest in the guys has hardly waned. Their song “Glad You Came” (from their 2011 album Battleground ) will be featured on “Glee” this season and continues to climb the charts and gain radio play. The guys are prepared for all the attention: Touring with Justin Bieber has shown them what it’s like to become an international pop sensation. So what kind of advice has the Biebs given them? “I think he’s too humble for that, in that way. … He’s not someone that really gives advice, because I think he just appreciates what happens to him rather than thinks he’s God,” Max George told MTV News. “And so, I mean, we don’t really talk music. When we speak to him, it’s more we talk about football or basketball.” Bandmate Jay McGuiness added: “I think he knows that we know how to do what we want to do in the same way that we could never tell him how to do what he does, ’cause he does it a lot better than we ever could.” The Wanted will head back home to their native U.K. to kick off an arena tour that will run through March. They are also up for Best British Single at the Brit Awards this month for “Glad.” Have you been following the Wanted’s burgeoning career? Let us know in the comments! Lady Gaga Drops Tour Poster, Fashion Film

Image for Born This Way Ball revealed as Mother Monster releases Jo Calderone-featuring ‘You and I’ clip. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga in her “Born This Way” tour poster Photo: Interscope Lady Gaga is amping up her fans for the Born This Way Ball , set to kick off later this year. On Tuesday, she dropped a sketch of her gothic castle-themed stage design , and in the very early hours of Wednesday morning (February 8), she teased fans with a poster for the trek. The black-and-white poster, which includes touches of neon purple and turquoise, features an omniscient image of Gaga, decked out in her full “BTW” horned look, looking down from the sky. Underneath, in a castle that looks an awful lot like the one from the tour sketch, Gaga, wearing a piano dress, hangs with a group of suit-wearing dudes. And, for those paying close enough attention, Zombie Boy even makes an appearance, peeking out from one of the castle windows. In her long-simmering latest “Yo

Adam Lambert Battles Himself In ‘Better Than I Know Myself’

Bad-boy Lambert and nice-guy Lambert are at war with each in new clip. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kelly Marino Adam Lambert Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Adam Lambert dropped his new video for his first Trespassing single, “Better Than I Know Myself,” on Friday (February 3). The video takes a look at the two sides of Lambert: a leather-wearing, liquor-swilling bad boy and a sweater-donning, tea-drinking homebody. During the video, the two personas seem to battle it out in different apartments connected by a clear wall and one oxygen supply. In the end, as the bad Lambert sets his apartment on fire, killing good-guy Lambert’s air supply, the wall breaks down. The good seems to seep into his apartment as he rescues his better half. The video ends with one Lambert, walking down a sun-drenched street, seeming to be at peace with himself. “It’s about the relationship you have with yourself between your dark and light side,” Lambert, who will reportedly hit the road with Queen this summer, explained to MTV News. “It’s about duality. It’s about that balance and finding it and struggling to maintain it and what that means. It’s an emotionally complicated video and I hope people are open-minded about it. I thought really hard and long about what was covered in it and what I was trying to say with it.” The video does seem to nod to his “Whataya Want From Me” clip. “It’s a cousin to that. … There is something similar to ‘Whataya Want From Me.’ I think that domesticated version of myself is my idealistic better version of me,” he explained. “It’s the me I want to be in my right mind. It’s the most happy, content, peaceful, wholesome version of myself.” The clip was directed by Ray Kay (who also worked with Lambert on his “For Your Entertainment” video), and Lambert came up with the treatment with his “Whataya” director, Diane Martel. “I just think visually [Kay’s] so great. He’s so great. He creates great pictures,” he said, adding a big “thank you” to Martel for her help. “It’s a big collaboration of a lot of different ideas.” Related Artists Adam Lambert

Jennifer Lopez Says Madonna ‘Would Be Awesome’ As ‘American Idol’ Mentor

Madge will preview ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ ‘ clip on Thursday’s ‘Idol.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Jennifer Lopez Photo: MTV News On Thursday (February 2) night, Madonna will world-premiere a teaser for her highly anticipated new video on “American Idol.” The preview of “Give Me All Your Luvin’ ” comes in advance of the clip’s official Friday-morning debut. But if you think that the “Idol” judges are getting any special treatment and are seeing it first, think again. “I have not seen it yet,” Jennifer Lopez told MTV News earlier this week. “I’ll see it with all you guys on Thursday.” When asked whether she’d even heard any of the finished track, she further dished that she hasn’t heard a thing — and that includes a leaked version of the song that hit the Internet last fall. “I hate when the demos leak,” J. Lo added. “It’s so unfair.” Now that Madonna is in the “Idol” family, is there any chance she might come on the show to mentor the contestants before her album, MDNA, drops in March? “I don’t know. I mean, that would be awesome,” Lopez said. “And if it was me, she would be the one person I’d probably want to come and mentor me if I was a contestant on ‘Idol.’ ” With so much mystery surrounding the track and the video, which also feature Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., MTV News got some exclusive insight into the vibe of the clip from its directors, Megaforce . “We said, ‘Wow, it’s quite interesting that it’s a mix between these three artists.’ They are not a part of the same universe for us,” Raphael Rodriguez said of the Martin Solveig-produced track. “So it was interesting to hear this mix and different kind of music.” He later described the video as “about happiness and something really sunny.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
