By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber gets ready for Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular Photo: NBC After performing at the White House in April, Justin Bieber will continue his domination over all things uniquely American by performing at the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on NBC this Sunday. In footage posted online , as a preview of his performance, Bieber is seen singing his hit song “Baby” to a crowd of excited fans. Bieber also chatted about having the chance to play the show even though he is Canadian. “I don’t really celebrate 4th of July because I’m from Canada, but it’s still fun to be here,” he said in the online footage. “And, you know, I enjoy it. I live here now so, you know … it’s going to be fun.” The show will take place in New York City, of which Bieber said, “I think New York City kind of represents all of the United States. It’s kind of the center of America. It’s the center of the world they say, so it’s pretty cool.” On the day he filmed, Bieber noted there might be some inclement weather, but he had high hopes nonetheless. “It’s amazing. It’s a pretty nice night. Hopefully it doesn’t rain — looks like there’s clouds over there,” he said. “There’s this beautiful bridge, we got the water in the back. It’s gonna be a lot of fun. A lot of people are going to be coming out. There’s a lot of cool magic tricks. Rihanna Describes New ‘Balance’ In Her Life

From leaving Chris Brown after he assaulted her in early 2009 to releasing her album Rated R to finding love again with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp , the singer has been through a lot. And in a new interview with Seventeen magazine, the singer says that the best time of her life is now. “There’s a balance in my life that wasn’t there before,” Rihanna, who is set to kick off her Last Girl on Earth Tour this Sunday, says in the August issue of the magazine. “It’s a really different peace, a different energy.” So, how does all that emotional growth make Rihanna feel these days? “It’s really liberating. It makes you feel so proud when you look back and see how much it took you to actually get here,” she explained. “And it’s the best feeling. I’m really enjoying life right now.” Always known for her outgoing, colorful, and independent spirit, style, and personality, Rihanna says people shouldn’t be afraid to be themselves, even if other people don’t understand it. “Don’t be afraid to be yourself just because you’re not like everybody else in class. If you want to dye your hair green and that’s what makes you happy, then dye your hair green — no matter what other people might say about it. Not everybody is going to like you,” the singer, who sports a big smile and lots of beaded necklaces on the cover of the magazine, said. “That’s the world we live in. If there could be only one, which would you choose: Justin Bieber or “Twilight? Days before vampire frenzy spread on Wednesday (June 30) with the opening of “Eclipse,” MTV News traveled to Hartford, Connecticut, to catch the teen singer’s My World Tour kickoff , where we asked fans there to weigh in on the epic battle of Bieber vs. “Twilight.” One of the two pop-culture phenomena had to come out a winner, and Justin Bieber’s fans made their case, with the pop star coming out the clear winner. “He is amazing,” Britney told MTV News, arguing that Bieber’s famous head of hair is so much better than Pattinson’s equally famous coif. “It’s just gorgeous.” In addition to having that sugary-sweet voice, the girls had other important reasons for loving Bieber over the “Twilight Saga,” one of them being 24-year-old Pattinson’s age. “[Justin’s] amazing! He’s just amazing. Yes [he wins]. He’s more our age and Robert Pattinson is just older, so obviously, Justin Bieber,” Amanda said. Her pal, Nicky, agreed saying, “He’s our age.” Another fan, Rihanna, said, “He sings better. He’s a lot cuter … and he’s our age.” Apart from the age factor, the girls decided that Bieber wins hands-down because of his pop star status. “He’s the one that I worship,” Christina gushed. “His music is amazing — it would save the world.” Micaela added, “He’s freakin’ amazing! Taylor Lautner does not sing, neither does Edward, and they’re not even that hot as Justin Bieber.” Oh yeah, did they mention he’s hot? Or, as Lexi put it: “He’s really hot!” Ashley said it was “because he’s a singer. Lauren Conrad To Appear On ‘The Hills’ Finale Aftershow

Show creator confirms that original star will reunite with her pals after July 13 finale. By Jocelyn Vena Lauren Conrad Photo: Jason LaVeris/ Getty Images Fans have been wondering whether Lauren Conrad, the original star of “The Hills,” would be back for one more rendezvous before the show ends forever July 13. A rep for the show confirmed to MTV News that LC will be back for more of “The Hills,” making an appearance on the live show after “The Hills” series finale. LC’s former “Hills” co-star and current “The City” star Whitney Port tweeted her excitement about the news, writing, “So excited to reunite with all the hillsies!” Show creator Adam DiVello first broke the news on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Tuesday, revealing, “Lauren Conrad will be at the finale event along with Whitney Port and the whole entire cast. “It will be a big party,” he added. “We have some stories being paid off in the finale that I think the viewers will find pretty exciting. Everybody’s coming at peace with the stories we’ve been following. I think a few of them definitely found happiness and found what they were looking for.” Fans will certainly be happy to see LC take one last bow with her “Hills” pals. “It will be an exciting ending,” DiVello promised. “We definitely have a couple of surprises up our sleeve that the cast don’t even know about!” Earlier this year, Audrina Patridge and Kristin Cavallari hoped for a return from LC. “With her coming back, it’ll be like our older sister coming back and giving us advice,” Patridge said. “It would be fun. It would be nice to have her come back.” Cavallari added: “The last episode, she comes back, and we all kind of rekindle and, you know, spend our last moment together before it’s all over. Daniel Radcliffe Was ‘OK’ With Being A Shorter ‘Harry Potter’

Rowling’s universe, Harry Potter isn’t a giant but he’s eventually described as slightly taller than average as the series progresses. So what did the actor who’s become synonymous with the wizard think of playing a character whose proportions don’t quite match his own? Daniel Radcliffe tells MTV News he wasn’t too concerned — but with some conditions. “I didn’t get particularly worried because as long as Emma [Watson] and Rupert [Grint] weren’t shooting up too quickly either, I’d look [fine],” he told us earlier this month at the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios . “We’d all look relatively [the same height]. It was all going to be OK,” Radcliffe added. Still, Radcliffe admitted he wouldn’t mind adding a few inches to his real-life frame. “I was worried on a personal level because I wanted to be slightly taller than I am, ideally,” he explained. “But I’ve now accepted it. Basically, I’ve came to the conclusion a while ago that you can either be really bitter about it or you can make loads of funny jokes.” What kinds of jokes, we asked. “When I meet people now and they all say, ‘God you’re so much shorter than I expected!’ I always say, ‘No! Maroon 5 Had No ‘Distractions’ Recording Hands All Over In Switzerland

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kelly Marino Maroon 5’s Mickey Madden and Adam Levine Photo: MTV News For their latest pop-rock opus, Maroon 5 headed overseas and into the arms of Mutt Lange (AC/DC, Shania Twain, Nickelback). The band made a getaway to Switzerland, the super-producer’s home base, where they worked on their upcoming LP, Hands All Over. And the serene backdrop was just the great escape they needed, frontman Adam Levine says. “Our biggest weakness is laziness and lack of focus, which mostly comes from me, because I am like that,” Levine confessed when MTV News visited the set of Maroon 5’s “Misery” video . “But the coolest thing about being [in] Switzerland, we weren’t distracted at all. There was nothing to be distracted by, except scenery, which was very beautiful. But once you kind of took all that in, you were left with your own thoughts.” Levine also revealed that apart from battling distractions, the next challenge was to make sure the album rocked. “It was nice to kind of have that quiet mind, especially for me, because I have the hardest time quieting my mind,” the singer said. “It was nice having nothing bothering me, nothing on my mind, nothing to do, no obligations,” he recalled. “The obligation we had while we were there was to make the best record we possibly could, and to kind of dig really deep, and we did.” Maroon 5 have sold millions of records, enjoyed the perks of fame (Levine has dated a few Hollywood starlets) and had a number of radio hits, but they say there’s still room for even bigger successes. And Hands All Over, due in September, couldn’t have come out any better, Levine said. “I’m so satisfied. Rihanna Cancels July 2 Tour Kick-Off In Washington

By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna Photo: Christopher Peterson/ FilmMagic Rihanna has canceled her July 2 concert at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington, which was scheduled to be the opening night of her tour, according to the Auburn Reporter. A press release from Live Nation states that the date had to be canceled due to “production changes.” That means Rihanna’s Last Girl on Earth Tour will now kick off on July 4 in Vancouver. The paper didn’t have information on what the production changes entail. Refunds will be given for the show in Auburn at point of purchase. The July 22 show in Phoenix and the July 24 show in Dallas have also been nixed. Nicki Minaj was originally scheduled to be one of the opening acts for the tour alongside pop party girl Ke$ha. But, Minaj had to back out of the tour in order to work on her album. Travie McCoy is slated to take her spot. Ke$ha told MTV News that Minaj’s exit was a “bummer,” but the “Tik Tok” singer had big plans for what she wanted to wear on the tour. “I want to wear a lot of laser beams,” she said. She added that her show will be one big party. “It definitely is going to have, like, a dance-party vibe,” she explained. “I just want it to be really, really fun. Let’s just say I can’t disclose, but I have, like, a really, really awesome thing that’s going to happen … and you can only understand it if you see it in person.” By press time, a rep for Rihanna had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment about the cancelation. Of course, they’ve also created a life for themselves offscreen, raising a brood of six together and traveling the world on a variety of philanthropic projects. So, is Hollywood’s sexiest A-list couple ready for a sequel? “People have tried. And it’s strange: Do we have kids in the movie?” Angelina Jolie considered in an interview with Vanity Fair. “We’ve thought about that, but it becomes personal now that we actually have kids. And if we work on it, we pull from our own life, which is funny to us, but you feel strange sharing too much,” Jolie said in the magazine’s August issue. “We did ask somebody to look into ‘Mr. & Mrs.’ to see if they could crack a sequel, but there wasn’t anything original. It was just, ‘Well, they’re going to get married, or they’ve got kids, or they get separated.’ Never great,” she added. But even if the chances of a sequel to the 2005 flick seem slim, Jolie said she’d be game to team up with partner Pitt for another project. “I’d love to. We’ve talked about it. We’d have to figure out who’s going to watch the kids, but it’s really about finding the right thing, because we’ve looked,” she explained. “When you’re a couple, there are certain things people don’t want to see you do. It becomes too indulgent, too personal. I don’t think people want to see people who are really together intimate onscreen.” Jolie, however, had an idea about how to avoid filmgoers’ tendency to reject some real-life couples hooking up onscreen (see: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck circa “Gigli”). “Maybe we have to play bad guys that try to kill each other,” said the actress, whose “Salt” arrives in theaters July 23 . “So it’s just fun and aggressive, not dealing with some man-woman deal.” Do you think Brad and Angelina should team up on the big screen again? He was on the road for his just-launched My World headlining tour , he explained on Twitter, and never considered cancelling or postponing the show. “Rolled into Milwaukee for the show today…gonna be huge…22,000 people sold out. I heard. Missing everybody out in LA for the BET Awards,” he tweeted on Sunday. “Just wanted to say I would have been at the awards, but this show was booked before the nominees came out, and I don’t cancel shows. “I would never cancel a show and let down the fans unless I had to … but I do wish I was there too, because I am honored to just be nominated,” he added. Though he lost the Best New Artist prize to Queens MC Nicki Minaj, the teen singer found the nomination enough of an honor. “But I do wish I was there too, because I am honored to just be nominated but just goes to show that music is COLOR BLIND!! It is the universal language, and good music brings us all together … the way it should be.” Bieber added a message to his friends who were at the Shrine Auditorium. “Everyone out there best of luck… Shout-out to my big bro @usherraymondiv performing 2nite!” And while the celebrities at the BET Awards were gathering trophies, Bieber celebrated another successful night of his tour in a less formal manner: with a water gun fight . “As soon as we got offstage we had an EPIC WATER FIGHT!!!” he wrote. “Last night we were caught off guard but 2nite we came prepared.” Do you think Bieber should have planned for the BET Awards?
