Justin Bieber Thanks Fans For Making Him A Twitter Trend

‘My fans have made me a trending topic every day,’ Bieber says. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News Justin Bieber loves his fans. He’s pretty open about his adoration for the people that made him the star he is today, launching him from YouTube sensation to household name and chart-topping megastar. And the 16-year-old is particularly appreciative of their use of a certain social-networking site to keep him on top. “They make me a trending topic on Twitter every day,” Bieber told MTV News . “It’s pretty incredible. My fans have made me a trending topic every day. I don’t think there’s been a day in the past month that I haven’t. So, it’s pretty incredible. “I love Twitter,” Bieber added. He finds tweeting the perfect way to share his comings and goings and to communicate directly with a few lucky girls whenever possible. “For sure I use it for being able to interact with my fans as well as promote stuff.” So, how does Bieber decide which followers to reply to or retweet? “It just depends. It’s kind of, like, it’s random,” he said. “It’s not really anyone specifically. It’s just kind of a random thing.” But whoever he chooses, Bieber says they are always surprised. “They’re like, ‘I never thought you were gonna respond.’ And I say, ‘You thought wrong.’ ” MTV News will be rolling out highlights from our exclusive sit-down with Justin Bieber all week! Ferry Corsten Delivers All-Original Tracks On Once Upon A Night

The Dutch trance DJ/producer shunned remixes for his new compilation. By Adam Stewart and Akshay Bhansali Ferry Corsten Photo: MTV News With the success of his satellite radio show “Corsten’s Countdown,” and previous albums L.E.F. and Twice in a Blue Moon, Dutch DJ/producer Ferry Corsten has established himself as a mighty brand in the electronic music world. Over the years Winter Music Conference has often been the chosen occasion for Corsten to launch his new projects, so, naturally, when MTV News caught up with him just before his show at Karu & Y, in Miami last month, he had a bit of news to share. Corsten was eager to talk about his compilation album Once Upon a Night, which contains only exclusive tracks made specifically for this release, an unusual move in a business consumed by previously mixed and remixed albums. “This is not your usual mix compilation,” Corsten told MTV News. “It’s sort of like a ‘Ferry and Friends’ artist album in the way it’s mixed. All 25 tracks on the double disc have been exclusively produced for this compilation, so it’s all brand new stuff. It’s a bit of a different approach, a bit of a risky one.” Ferry enjoyed the creative process of collecting all-original music. “The cool thing is … it’s not just looking for the right tracks,” he said. “It’s also directing the artists that I’ve invited to submit tracks, directing them in a certain direction. [Saying,] ‘This is what I’m looking for. This kind of sound. This kind of vibe.’ It’s just real cool to do it that way.” In support of Once Upon a Night — which features mega-producer BT, and up-and-comers Mark Sixma, Akira Kayosa and Rafael Frost — Corsten is heading out on a global tour by the same name. He said fans can expect a fresh interactive visual element to the stage show. “You hear certain things happen in the music,” he said. “You’ll either see some words come out, or you’ll see me on the screen doing something in time with the music. It’s very responsive to the crowds. I’m traveling with a crew, and these guys are right on the button, and whatever happens, they’re on it.” After performing at London’s O2 arena on Friday (April 9) and Nijmegen, the Netherlands, on Saturday, Corsten plans to hit China, Korea, Japan, the Philippines and Australia in the first six weeks of the tour, before returning to Europe. He’ll come to the States in the fall. When you’re not showing off your moves at the club, stick with MTV News for Dance Music Week. Ke$ha Hits The Desert For ‘Your Love Is My Drug’ Video

‘Tik Tok’ singer filmed third video from Animal LP. By Jocelyn Vena Ke$ha on the set of her “Your Love Is My Drug” video Photo: Eric Ford/ On Location News Ke$ha is gearing up to tour with Rihanna this summer , but not before taking time out to shoot the third video from her Animal album, “Your Love Is My Drug.” The clip was filmed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and features Ke$ha hanging out in the California desert. The video reportedly “follows Ke$ha on a fun journey through an animated world” and was shot in Lancaster, California. In it, Ke$ha is seen dancing and performing near sand dunes while wearing a khaki-colored bathing suit; she’s also seen wrapped in what appears to be a fishing net. While she was all on her lonesome during the sunset scenes, once the sun went down, she filmed a kissing scene with an unidentified guy next to a campfire. Later on, Ke$ha performed — under black lights while wearing body paint — near some giant rock boulders. The video follows up Ke$ha’s other clips for her hits “Tik Tok” and “Blah Blah Blah.” Ke$ha actually worked with her mom, Pebe Sebert, on several Animal tracks, including “Your Love Is My Drug.” She’s previously described the track as one that a track that delves into the sordid details of her love life. “I wrote a few songs with my mom, who’s a sick writer, and taught me everything I know about songwriting,” she said. “My mom and I are best friends, so it really comes naturally. She taught me how to write my first song. I can also be really honest with her. We’re like best friends and there are no really forbidden topics.” Are you looking forward to Ke$ha’s new video? ‘American Idol’ Judge Randy Jackson Explains Michael Lynche Save

‘It was the right thing to do,’ Jackson says of judges’ decision to reverse his elimination. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash Randy Jackson and Tim Kash Photo: MTV News This week, the “American Idol” judges decided to use their one-time-only save on Michael Lynche , who came close to going home this week. Some “Idol” fans and experts were surprised that they used the save so early in the season, but Randy Jackson says Big Mike earned it. “It was the right thing to do,” Jackson told MTV News at the “America’s Best Dance Crew” finale on Thursday night. “He sang his brains out [Wednesday] night. It was the right thing to do. I’m happy we did it.” Jackson knows that the decision had to be taken seriously, since it means they won’t be able to reverse America’s votes if another judges’ favorite gets eliminated. “We get one save in the season. He was so good [Wednesday] night, and this is a singing competition,” he explained. “And he was the best singer in the whole show [Wednesday] night. “We started our discussions and were saying, ‘My god, well, he’s singing amazing tonight,’ even though he’s had up and down weeks,” he continued, describing their deliberation process. And Jackson thinks that Mike didn’t get the lowest number of votes because he lacks fans. “I think he would have been safe, and I think they forgot to vote for him thinking, ‘Ah, he’s going to be there [next week].’ ” Do you think the judges used their save on the right guy? Tiger Woods Appears In New Nike TV Commercial

Ad features the voice of his late father, Earl Woods. By Joel Hanek Tiger Woods Photo: Nike Laying low since his recent sex scandal, golf superstar and world-renowned athlete Tiger Woods has officially headed back into familiar territory: advertising. The tarnished sports icon is featured in a new Nike television commercial launched Thursday (April 8) entitled “Earl and Tiger.” In the black-and-white ad, Tiger Woods is seen solemnly facing the camera. As the shot slowly zooms in on his face, a voice-over of Woods’ late father, Earl Woods, is heard saying, “Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are. And did you learn anything?” Rumors of Tiger Woods’ extra-marital affairs first surfaced in November of last year shortly after his car accident. Tiger Woods subsequently entered an in-patient treatment facility for sex addiction. Since the controversy, many of Tiger’s numerous sponsors have dropped the golfer as a spokesperson. Nike released a statement defending their choice in keeping Tiger Woods as a representative: “We support Tiger and his family. As he returns to competitive golf, the ad addresses his time away from the game using the powerful words of his father.” On Monday, Tiger Woods held his first open-ended press conference to address reporters before his return to professional golf at the Masters Tournament. While he admitted that his wife, Elin, would not be attending the tournament, he expressed distress over the media coverage of his family, which he described as “constant harassment.” The golf star said, “My wife and kids being photographed everywhere they go, being badgered. That’s tough on them, because it’s very difficult to heal.” The scandal may have affected Woods’ reputation, but the golfer remains adamant about succeeding in the tournament. He told reporters at the press conference, “I’m going to try to go out there and win this thing.” What do you think about Tiger Woods’ new Nike commercial? Tell us in the comments.

Justin Bieber Tweets About People Magazine Cover

‘I look crazy as heck on the cover,’ Bieber said about his cover photo for People. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News is the cover boy on the new issue of People magazine. And it seems that the photo of him, depicting a very happy, wide-eyed, grinning Bieber, has left a little to be desired for the pop star. Bieber tweeted about the photo, noting that it’s not as flattering as he would like it to be. “Dear @peoplemag Covershoot…next time i laugh real crazy warn me u r still taking pics…still appreciate u but let’s get on the same page,” he wrote. But don’t think Bieber doesn’t appreciate the cover story. He also tweeted, “Exclusive story and pics in the new issue of @peoplemag. I look crazy as heck on the cover but if u cant laugh at yourself u aint havin fun.” As evidenced by his April Fools’ prank on Funny or Die last week, Bieber, who will also appear on “Saturday Night Live” this week as the musical guest and perhaps even in a comedy sketch or two, does have a pretty good sense of humor about himself. In the issue, which hits newsstands on Friday, Bieber talks about his meteoritic rise to fame. “What I have is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And I’m having a blast,” Bieber said, adding, “I still feel regular. You know, sometimes it’s weird that I go places and I have thousands of people waiting for me, but I always think, ‘I’m Justin.’ ” Bieber admitted that although there are screaming girls everywhere he goes, dating isn’t his main priority. Why? Well, he’s kind of busy. “Right now, it’s difficult ’cause I’m traveling so much,” he added. What did you think of Bieber’s People cover? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Justin Bieber

Ryan Seacrest Says He And Simon Cowell Are ‘Actually Friendly’

‘We have a very competitive spirit and attitude on the show,’ ‘American Idol’ host says on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show. By Jocelyn Vena Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell Photo: Kevin Parry/ WireImage When Ryan Seacrest stopped by “American Idol” judge Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show for an episode airing on Tuesday (April 6), he answered some of the fans’ burning questions and addressed his antagonistic relationship with Simon Cowell. “We’re roommates,” Seacrest joked, before explaining that their relationship this season is no different than in past seasons, but the difference in the audience’s perception might just be visual. “They built this great little bridge — it used to be like a moat between the stage and the judges’ table. But now there is this bridge, and sometimes it is hard to hear in there, so I approached … the bench a few times, which makes [Simon] really uncomfortable … which makes me happy.” Seacrest said despite their animosity on the show, he and Cowell actually get along better than people might expect. “We’re actually friendly. We don’t hold a grudge,” he said. “We have a very competitive spirit and attitude on the show, but we’re friends. I would be there for him if he needed a loan or something… because he’s really hurting.” Fans also wanted to know what the judges do when the show goes on commercial breaks. Seacrest and DeGeneres revealed that the judges leave the studio to go outside and get some fresh air — something that initially surprised DeGeneres. “I thought we would just sit there, like I do during commercial breaks,” she said. “[On my show] there’s dancing; there’s all kinds of stuff. [On ‘Idol’] they all just get up and walk out, so I’m like, ‘I’m not just going to sit here,’ so I get up. Simon goes out to smoke a cigarette, and Kara’s doing something and Randy. And I’m just kind of out there because I don’t want to be by myself. And they start walking back when they’re counting down, 9, 8, literally 1, and we’re sitting in our chair.” What do you think of the fan queries? What would you like to know about the show? Nicole Scherzinger Addresses ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Romance Rumors

‘I don’t even know where they get these stories sometimes,’ she tells MTV News of reports linking her to partner Derek Hough. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Nicole Scherzinger at her “Dancing With the Stars” rehearsal on Friday Photo: MTV News Nicole Scherzinger and dance partner Derek Hough may have the kind of chemistry on the dance floor that gains them a large fanbase and high scores on “Dancing With the Stars,” but the Pussycat Doll insisted it’s strictly business. When MTV News caught up with Scherzinger at rehearsals for the show, she cleared the air about the romance rumors. “I don’t even know where they get these stories sometimes,” she said, a sentiment similar to one she tweeted about — even alluding to her actual romance. “Been reading the net & seeing the craziest stories … Derek is like a little brother 2 me,” she wrote . “Everyone knows how in luv & committed I am 2 [boyfriend, race car driver] Lewis [Hamilton]!” In fact, in regards to their latest routine, she compared their chemistry to “two old jolly sailors chumming around.” So do these “chums” get up to any shenanigans in their downtime? “We don’t have too much downtime from rehearsals, to be honest with you,” she said. “Right now, it’s crunch time. It’s kind of a stressful period.” With Hough out of the picture, is there anyone else on the show she has a crush on? “I have a softness in my heart for Buzz [Aldrin]. I kind of have a crush on him,” she shared. “I haven’t [told him], but I just show it to him when I hug. He’s just the sweetest guy and his wife is the cutest thing ever, people. I don’t know if people at home see it, but whenever Buzz is onstage or anywhere near her she’s always so excited.” What do you think of Nicole and Derek’s chemistry? Tell us in the comments!

Nicole Scherzinger Brings ‘Slapstick’ To ‘Dancing With The Stars’

‘We’re taking it old school,’ she says of performance plans with partner Derek Hough. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Nicole Scherzinger at her “Dancing with the Stars” rehearsal on Friday Photo: MTV News Last week Nicole Scherzinger scored the highest of all the celebrity dancers on “Dancing With the Stars,” receiving a near-perfect total of 28. When the fans voiced their opinion, it was Shannen Doherty who was voted off the show , leaving Scherzinger to dance another week. So what should fans expect to see when they tune in this week? “We had the quick step. We decided to take a risk and do something that we wanted to do on our own,” Scherzinger told MTV News recently about her partner’s strategy. “We’re not really playing by the rules necessarily.” Scherzinger and dance partner Derek Hough plan to try out some more unconventional dance moves with a routine that will be anything but strictly ballroom. “We’re taking it old school. We’re going back to the basics of, like, sheer entertainment and being performers, kind of like slapstick comedy,” she shared. “And [we’re] just having a good time. I don’t know if the judges are gonna necessarily like it so much. We’ll see.” The Pussycat Doll is used to all the hard work thanks to her strenuous pop-star schedule, but her “DWTS” routines are definitely the hardest thing she’s had to do in a long while. “I didn’t anticipate, honestly, that it was going to be so challenging,” she said. “I’m used to hard work, being on tour with the Pussycat Dolls and going non-stop, but this style of dance is so foreign to my body. It’s quite frustrating at times.” Are you looking forward to seeing Nicole and Derek perform again on “Dancing With the Stars”? Tell us in the comments below!
