Johnny Depp Nears Deal for Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Money speaks louder than critics. While most vehemently disliked Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides , the film did gross over $1 billion at the global box office. Naturally, this has sparked talk of yet another installment, with sources telling The Wrap Johnny Depp is close to signing on. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is reportedly revising a script as we type. Back in January, Depp said he’d be up for a fifth turn as Captain Jack Sparrow “as long as we can put all the puzzle pieces together.” If those pieces are a contract and a script, they are most definitely coming together. So, we hope, is another Michael Bolton tribute to the sea-faring hero. Would you go see Pirates of the Caribbean 5?

Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie Top Highest-Paid Actresses List

Kristen Stewart, Julia Roberts are close behind on Forbes list for 2011. By Gil Kaufman Sarah Jessica Parker Photo: Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images There are working moms, and then there’s Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker. According to Forbes magazine, they were the highest-earning actresses last year, with bankrolls that topped $30 million each. Jolie’s haul was thanks to the worldwide success of her thriller “Salt,” which took in $300 million, and “The Tourist,” which co-starred Johnny Depp and raked in $280 million, despite mostly lukewarm reviews. Most of Parker’s cash came from her payments for reruns of her TV series “Sex and the City,” on which she is a producer. She also took home additional payments from the second “SATC” film, which rolled up $290 million in international box office. “People may be surprised to see Sarah Jessica Parker up there but they may not realize that in addition to acting, she earns big from her perfumes and endorsement deals,” said Forbes ‘ Dorothy Pomerantz. In fact, SJP earned $18 million in 2010 from her successful perfume line alone. Overall, the top 10 female stars in Hollywood earned a total of $218 million from May 2010 to May 2011. Just behind the top two earners are Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon , who each took home an estimated $28 million. Though Aniston has developed a reputation for top-lining a string of middling romantic comedies, even recent films that looked like flops turned out to be successful, including “The Bounty Hunter” ($136 million) and “Just Go With It” (more than $214 million). Rounding out the list are: Julia Roberts ($20 million), “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart ($20 million), Katherine Heigl ($19 million), Cameron Diaz ($18 million), Sandra Bullock ($15 million) and Meryl Streep ($10 million). Pippa Middleton and Alex Loudon: Spotted at Wimbledon!

While her sister is featured on the latest Newsweek cover walking alongside Princess Diana, Pippa Middleton is making headlines for some strolling of her own this week. Despite rumors of a split, and even more ridiculous rumors that she’s close with Prince Harry , Pippa attended Wimbledon with long-time boyfriend Alex Loudon yesterday. She looked as cute, and as happy, as ever: Inside the stadium of the tennis tournament, witnesses say the pair exchanged smiles and talked closely as they watched the matches alongside Pippa’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton. Early last Friday morning, Pippa was also snapped leaving Loudon’s London apartment. You know what that means, right? We officially hate Loudon even more than we hate Shia LeBeouf . ‘Glee’ Stars Talk ‘Funeral’ Episode

‘There’s going to be a death in the cast and the person that dies is very important in the show,’ Chord Overstreet reveals. By Jocelyn Vena Jenna Ushkowitz Photo: MTV News Next week, the New Directions will be taking their antics to New York City for the finale of “Glee,” but this week the group is mourning the loss of one of their own in the episode aptly titled “Funeral.” MTV News had the pleasure of catching up with “Glee” stars Chord Overstreet and Jenna Ushkowitz at the Fox upfront on Monday in New York City, where they opened up about the emotional episode airing Tuesday night (May 17). “There’s eight of the ‘Glee’ kids that are definitely not dying, and then the other four you’re gonna have to guess,” Overstreet teased. “The four that it’s going to be down to, it’s going to be down to Lea [Michelle], Cory [Monteith], Schuester [Matt Morrison] and Jane Lynch, those guys are up. “I’m kidding,” he continued about any of those people actually dying on the show. “There’s going to be a death in the cast and the person that dies is very important in the show and that’s all I can say. Everyone’s going to be surprised, but I think it shows a dramatic side to everybody in the cast. It’s a good episode; it’s really strong.” Ushkowitz went on to confirm who doesn’t die. “Somebody does die … Tina Cohen-Chang [Ushkowitz’s character] does not die,” she laughed. “I don’t die. Anything is possible, but I don’t think any of us expected a funeral on the show.” She added that while castmembers were going around set worried that they might be knocked off, fans will be surprised by who bids a final fond farewell on the show. “So it definitely was shocking. At first, we were all scared [it might be us], but it’s kind of shocking [regardless], and I think that’s kind of why we did it. I think [fans will definitely be] shocked and I don’t think anyone expected anyone to die, and it affects everyone, everybody in the cast. It’ll be interesting to see what people think.” Who do you think will die on the episode? Share your guesses in the comments. Related Videos Musical ‘Glee-Caps’ Of Season Two

Johnny Depp Explains Lack Of ‘Pirates’ Love Story For Jack Sparrow

‘It would mess up the legend,’ he tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Johnny Depp Photo: MTV News It seems like just yesterday that the devilish and charming Captain Jack Sparrow and his merry band of misfits were wreaking havoc upon the open seas in “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.” Lucky for fans of the hugely successful franchise, Johnny Depp is back in Sparrow’s pirate garb this weekend in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” When MTV News caught up with Depp recently, we got to talking about one element missing from Captain Jack’s unique existence: long-term relationships with any of the bevy of beautiful women that seem to constantly surround him, like “Stranger Tides” leading lady Pen

How to Not Quite Succeed in Cannes Business Despite Really Trying: An Illustrated Guide

A Cannes-style queue has a curious shape. It’s not really a line at all, but more of a funnel — you can stay at the end for ages, while unassumingly pushy types creep forward from the sides in a barely discernible kind of Brownian movement. The festival staff — no-nonsense guys in matching taupe suits, notorious for being cranky — try to stem the pushing from the front, but have no control over how it happens from the back. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, or at least about 20, here’s a visual aid:
