On the JoBro’s latest episode of ‘Hot in Cleveland,’ premiering Wednesday night on TV Land, his and Hewitt’s characters get engaged. By Kara Warner Joe Jonas Photo: MTV News Jet-setting actor/musician Joe Jonas has once again made time in his busy schedule for a little stop through Cleveland — “Hot in Cleveland,” that is, the popular show on TV Land starring Valerie Bertinelli, Betty White, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves. Jonas has a guest-starring role on the sitcom as the wayward son of Bertinelli’s character. MTV News was lucky enough to visit the set of “Cleveland” on the day Jonas filmed his second guest spot, which premieres Wednesday night (January 25) at 10 p.m. ET. When we caught up with him for a few minutes between scenes, he shared some details about his return to the show. “Being back on the show, [my character Will is] engaged, and I have to be engaged to Jennifer Love Hewitt, which is really nice,” he said. “We’re both sons and daughters of characters on the show, and we show up and surprise everybody. They don’t expect us to be engaged.” Jonas said that while it was fun to work with Hewitt, their characters’ engagement doesn’t exactly last for long. “Both of our characters are really different. I think I’m a little bit blinded by the fact that she may not be the perfect person for me. I think we last probably less than Kim Kardashian in this,” he joked. Long engagements or no, Jonas said he loves his time on the show and would be happy to come back any time. “I would love to be able to return again. The first episode when I left, people were like, ‘Are you going to be back soon?’ and I said, ‘I think so.’ I don’t think my character passed away, so I think we’re good. I don’t die in this episode either,” he added. “So I’m still around, so I could definitely come back if they’d like me to. Jonas produced the song ‘My Time’ for the 14-year-old Quaker Chewy Superstar Search winner. By Jocelyn Vena Nick Jonas Back in June, Nick Jonas told MTV News he was looking for the next Willow Smith or Greyson Chance when he teamed up with Quaker Chewy Superstar Search . Well, now he’s found that person in 14-year-old Gabrielle Giguere. “It was an exciting process, picking the winner,” he told MTV News. “Basically, we narrowed it down to 35 of the best videos, and I chose my favorites, and then we made it a top five. And from there, America voted, and Gabrielle was our winner. And I’m so pleased, and getting in the studio with her was so amazing and crafting a song to her voice was a great experience.” Jonas, who has previously written tracks for Charice and Demi Lovato, said working with the Florida native proved to be quite a fruitful experience, resulting in the catchy, electronic pop tune “My Time.” Giguere not only walked away with the Jonas-produced track, but also an online music video, a contract with Jonas Group Management and $5,000 in cash. “It’s just been a really great time so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go for her,” he said. “It was amazing getting in the studio with her. I think she had a clear vision of what she wanted to sound like, and she really wanted to be the best it can be.” So what does Nick think of all their hard work? “In my experience, I try and work specifically with the vocalist and try and figure out how they work and get the best result,” he said. “We had the time to do that, and I feel like we came up with a really great-sounding song.” Have you checked out Gabrielle’s song? Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series.’ By Jocelyn Vena Frankie Jonas Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Frankie Jonas may be the smallest of the Jonas brothers, but he certainly isn’t short on personality. Frankie, like his three older brothers before him, is trying his hand at show business and will appear this weekend on “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series.” Being that it is the season for all things creepy, the always swagged-out Frankie decided to bring MTV News along as he searched for the just-right Halloween costume. “What we’re doing here today, we are looking at the costumes and we’re going costume shopping,” he told MTV News at Abracadabra. “Which I’m really happy about, because I need to get a head-start on my costume.” Jonas picked two costumes — a zombie and Chucky from “Child’s Play” — and he explained why, of all the costumes in the store, those made his final cut. “I chose the zombie because I was a zombie for two years in a row … zombies, they’re like the full-on. Everyone loves zombies,” he said. “Zombies are the base of Halloween, ’cause you get dead, you get living and you get creepy. “I like Chucky, ’cause it’s really, like, no offense to Chucky, but he’s kind of cheesy,” the 11-year-old continued. “But that’s what I like about him. I love old, cheesy horror movies. I love horror movies. My two favorites are probably ‘Sweeney Todd’ and the original ‘Nightmare on Elm Street.’ ” His episode of the series, titled “Pumpkinhead,” will air Saturday on the Hub, and like any seasoned pro, Jonas is keeping the details a big secret. “It’s scary funny, but my episode full-on creeps you out. It’s like if you mixed together intense with, like, super scary and then a little bit of comedy, and then you get [my episode],” he explained. “My character, I’m not scary, but I do things that make things scary. The 17-year old star is at the center of a campaign – aptly titled Free Justin Bieber – initiated by Fight for the Future, a fair-use advocacy group that’s urging citizens to vote against congressional law S.978. What the heck is congressional law S.978? It’s a rule that would make it illegal for individuals to stream/use copyrighted music in an online video. And where does Bieber come into this debate? He was discovered by Usher via a homemade YouTube video of himself covering a handful of R&B hits. If this law is passed, such an act might result in a prison stint. Instead of a record deal. “Tell Congress to get a clue and stop trying to jail people for singing,” the organization says in a statement, asking folks to sign its online petition. “Congress has no business making ordinary Internet users criminals for expressing themselves online.” Seriously. Under this law, five-year old Sophia Grace Brownlee would be a criminal.

We hate to say it, but the facts speak for themselves: the solo career of Joe Jonas is off to an abysmal start. In its first week of sales, Joe’s first-ever solo album, “Fastlife,” sold just 18,000 copies, landing him in 15th place on the Billboard 200. By comparison, the last CD Jonas compiled with his brothers, “A Little Bit Longer,” moved 525,000 copies in the same time period. Ouch. Joe Jonas Covers Chris Brown Nick Jonas , meanwhile, also jumped into a solo career last year (with his band, The Administration, that is) and sold 82,000 copies of “Who I Am.” Double ouch. “Transforming a charmed teenhood career into a viable adult one is possibly one of the entertainment industry’s most difficult feats,” wrote Julianne Escobedo Shepherd in Billboard last week. “For every Justin Timberlake, there are 10 former boy-band members whose post-group disinterest led them to hang up their hats.” Can Joe rebound from this rough opening week?
