Notorious B.I.G.’s Junior M.A.F.I.A. Crew ‘Get Money’ Video, Frame By Frame

Lil’ Kim recalls the Notorious B.I.G. and takes us behind the 1996 clip, which spoofed late rapper’s love-life dramas. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Ade Mangum Notorious B.I.G. in the “Get Money” video Photo: Bad Boy In 1996, Lil’ Kim was the standout member of the Notorious B.I.G.’s Junior M.A.F.I.A. crew. The Big Momma had stolen the show on their lead single “Player’s Anthem,” from the collective’s album Conspiracy, and was again the main draw on their third single, “Get Money.” Rapping alongside B.I.G. himself, the Queen Bee held her own and previewed the extravagant lifestyle that would play out in the video. The Notorious B.I.G. died an untimely death on March 9, 1997, the year after the video’s release, but it remains a part of his and the Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s musical legacy. When last week, she spoke to MTV News about the memorable clip, walking us through it frame by frame. Directed by Lance “Un” Rivera, the clip echoed some of the real-life legal drama Big was wrestling with at the time. In the opening scene, set in a courtroom, Big sits at the defense table, seemingly oblivious to what the lawyers and judge are discussing. “I remember when we really had to go to court for him, for a situation that Biggie had, and we really had to sit in court with him,” Kim told us. “I remember him falling asleep in front of the judge. And he was literally snoring in front of the judge. And the judge looked at his lawyer and was like, ‘Excuse me, can you wake your client up?!’ ” In ’96, Big was in and out of court on drug and gun possession charges. The East Coast vs. West Coast hip-hop feud was in full swing by this time as well, though Big did his best not to stoke the flames. In the “Get Money” video, he pokes fun at his personal turmoil instead. The woman in the blonde wig in the clip looks suspiciously like Biggie’s then-wife, R&B singer Faith Evans (fans know that Faith and Kim have never been on the best of terms). The actress portraying the faux Faith was the (still-married) rapper’s girlfriend at the time, Charli Baltimore. The video was shot at a New York City club in a large home that Kim revealed was once owned by actor Wesley Snipes. Cameos in the video include DJ Clark Kent, Salt-N-Pepa, Mary J. Blige and even adult-film star Vanessa del Rio, who is seen thoroughly enjoying a massage and being fed fruit by buff men. “A lot of people don’t know who she was [but] she’s a famous porn star from back in the days and she was mad cool,” Kim said. Kim threw in one last factoid about the late, great Brooklyn rapper that fans might not have known. At the end of the “Get Money” clip, she’s seen driving off in a shiny red car that’s decorated with a bow. “People don’t know, at the end of this video Big was supposed to have brought me that car, that was my gift,” Kim laughed. “So, ya know, I came off at the end.” What’s your favorite Notorious B.I.G. video? Lindsay Lohan: Ready to Talk Plea Bargain?

Lindsay Lohan has her own version of the prisoner’s dilemma going on. If she fights the felony grand theft charge against her tooth and nail, she could, at least in theory, pull a legal rabbit out of her hat and beat the rap. But, not only does she risk losing in court, a pissed-off judge could also revoke her probation and remand her into custody for the length of the trial. We can do this the easy way or the hard way … Therefore, a plea bargain could be her best shot at doing a relatively short stint behind bars, as the D.A. could go (relatively) easy if she cooperates. But will she? Lindsay’s lawyer and the prosecutor have been trying to hammer out a plea bargain but have hit a wall, so the judge will try to break the impasse. Shawn Holley and Dannette Meyers both want to end Lindsay’s felony grand theft case with a plea, but Meyers won’t budge on six months in jail. Holley’s plan is to ask the judge what sentence he’d hand down if LiLo pleads guilty or no contest, hoping that he’ll agree to closer to three months. Both Meyers and Holley believe Lindsay will only do 20 percent of the actual sentence because of overcrowding, which is what happens typically. So, if Judge Keith Schwartz gave Lindsay three months, she’d only serve 18 days, which really isn’t that bad for a potential felony necklace heist. Schwartz is known as a settlement judge, so it’s likely a deal can be struck if Lindsay accepts she’s going to do some jail time, no matter what. For a recap of why she’s in this mess, and why she’s unlikely to get out of it scot free, THG broke down the situation last week in The Pulse … The Pulse: Will Lindsay Lohan Go to Jail?

Michael Jackson Estate: Raking in the Cash!

Michael Jackson has been dead for a year and a half, but has been raking in the cash since. We’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars since June 2009. According to legal documents, MJ had over $400 million in various debts when he passed, but his executors have been working furiously to retire them. The singer’s estate has made $310 million in the last 18 months, $159 million of which has already been used to pay debts, taxes and other expenses. Running the King of Pop’s life, even in death, is a formidable task. In addition to creditors, the estate provides “uninterrupted support for Mrs. [Katherine] Jackson and Michael Jackson’s children as Michael intended.” In addition to $400 million in debt,MJ’s estate had $40 million in liabilities to AEG stemming from the “This Is It” tour, which he was readying for. Obviously, he never made it on tour after his scared, sedated final days . It’s unclear where Jackson stands with AEG now financially, but MJ’s executors admit that the estate still faces several lawsuits in multiple countries. The documents show the estate received more than 65 creditor’s claims against him, with some of debt accruing interest at “extremely high” rates. John Branca and John McClain, Michael’s former attorney and manager, have done a remarkable job given the task they were assigned, however. The executors also claim they have “successfully rebuilt and enhanced Michael Jackson’s image” since they’ve been empowered to run the estate. With the singer more popular than ever and raking in money at a crazy clip, that statement is undeniably true. Hopefully it continues, as well.

Jon Gosselin: Just Call Him the Workin’ Man!

Jon Gosselin is just your average, blue-collar Joe these days. These amazing pictures obtained by TMZ show the former reality slob on the job – installing solar panels on the roof of a storage building – earlier this week. Guy was such a waste of space, it’s nice to see him make the planet a nicer one with Green Pointe Energy, a Pennsylvania renewable energy company. Guess that sales and marketing gig didn’t pan out … GO HARD (HAT) OR GO HOME : Hey, at least he’s got a job in this economy and gave up on the whole reality star thing. Give Jon credit on both fronts .

Lindsay Lohan Theft Case: About That Probation …

Is Lindsay Lohan doubly screwed after being busted for grand theft? That’s a possibility, given that she was on probation anyway for her DUI, and that her probation standing was shaky even before her recent felony arrest. Lohan may avoid jail , but it’s far from a lock. Even if the grand theft charges were dropped completely, a judge could revoke Lindsay’s DUI probation. FUR REAL : LiLo could go to jail either way. [Photo: Pacific Coast News] The judge in the probation case can hold a hearing, sans jury, and has the sole power to decide if Lindsay ran afoul of her probation and take it away. In a criminal case, the D.A. must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. In a probation violation case, the judge has all the power and more leeway. Sources connected with the D.A.’s office say prosecutors could ask for a year in jail if the judge decides Lindsay violated the terms of her probation. Chances are, there’s a case to be made that she has done so. Judge Elden Fox in Beverly Hills, who’s lost patience with Lohan and revoked her probation before, would be the one making the call too. Not good.

Judge Throws The Book At The Somali Pirate Who Hijacked The American Freightliner

Glad to see the judge throw the book at this piece of sh*t. She shed some tears for his victims, then keel-hauled the black-hearted buccaneer. An emotional judge today lowered the boom on a scrawny Somali pirate who led the armed hijacking of an American freighter and kidnapped its captain. Manhattan federal Judge Loretta Preska imposed a maximum, 405-month sentence on 21-year-old Abduwali Muse after tearfully reading aloud from letters written by crew members of the Maersk Alamaba and their family members. The judge choked up repeatedly — at one point removing her glasses and wiping her eyes with a tissue — as she highlighted the anguish inflicted by the ordeal off the Horn of Africa. The nature of the crimes and the victims testimony seem to seal the deal for the judge to hand down her sentence. “Bullets rang off the bulkhead right next to me. It was a very scary experience,” Wright, 44, told the packed courtroom. The Galveston, Texas, resident urged no leniency for Muse, who faced at least 27 years behind bars under terms of his plea deal. “I believe he needs to serve the extra seven years in an American prison where he can have proper food,” Wright said. Prosecutor Brendan McGuire focused on the “horrific” nature of Muse’s crimes, noting that he played a one-sided game of Russian roulette with Phillips, and also threatened the captain of previously hijacked yacht with dismemberment and death by an improvised explosive device. “He relished the suffering of his victims,” McGuire said. “It was his face they saw, it was his voice they will remember and it was his his laughter that will haunt them.” Muse — whose lawyer, Fiona Doherty, sought leniency due to Muse’s “very young” age and impoverished upbringing — shut his eyes and winced slightly as his punishment was imposed. “I ask for forgiveness from all the people that I harmed, and also the U.S. government,” he said earlier through a Somali interpreter. Homie do you REALLY think we believe you want forgiveness people have seen that sick smile on your face as you were arrested??? You need more people sir… Source

Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn: New Couple Alert?!?

See, people, helping those less fortunate does pay off… Sources confirm to Us Weekly that jaw-dropping beauty Scarlett Johansson is dating legendary actor Sean Penn, with the initial spark between the pair going off due to the latter’s humanitarian efforts in Haiti. “Scarlett first reached out to Sean when she was planning to visit Haiti with Oxfam,” says a source . “She knew Sean was living there in a tent and turned to him for advice.” Describing the actress as “smitten” with the Oscar winner, this insider says the pair – who are 24 years apart in age – first hooked up last month when Johansson was staying at the Chateau Marmont and filming We Bought a Zoo . Both stars split from their spouses over the last year. Penn called it quits with Robin Wright in August, while Scarlett and Ryan Reynolds divorced in December .

Lindsay Lohan Scared of Jail, Seeking Plea Deal

Lindsay Lohan is scared of prison. Most of us are. Most of us also steer clear of theft, DUI and other brushes with the law on a daily basis as a result, but most of us aren’t Lindsay Lohan. While insisting she’s innocent in the great necklace heist of 2011, she wants to plea bargain her felony grand theft case ASAP to avoid being locked up. After berating Lohan in court yesterday, Judge Keith Schwartz scheduled a hearing for February 23, so the lawyers can talk about plea bargaining the case. Will Lindsay weasel out of another legal jam? [Photo: Pacific Coast News] Lindsay is willing to plead guilty to make the case go away, provided she does not get jail or prison time. The prosecutor, however, wants jail time. She may also be able to cut a deal with the judge, cutting the D.A. out of the picture. In exchange for a guilty plea, the judge may be receptive. It’s also common in cases such as this for the judge to reduce the offense to a misdemeanor if Lindsay Lohan stays out of trouble for 12 months. LOL. As if that’s happening. In any case, it will be interesting to see if she cuts a deal or proceeds with a trial in a bid to prove her “innocence.” Thoughts, based on what you know of the case and Lohan?
