The two most successful American Idol winners met in Perth, Australia last night. Sort of. Continuing her trend of covering hit songs by fellow artists, Kelly Clarkson took on Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away,” per a fan’s request. Take a look and a listen now, sound off with your take – and then prepare to answer the most important question of all… Kelly Clarkson – “Blown Away” So, THGers, we love them both, but only one can come out on top: Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood? Which of these Grammy winners would you rather… listen to?
Lindsay Lohan is Elizabeth Taylor reincarnated? According to Grant Bowler, her Liz & Dick co-star, oh yes. Check out the new behind-the-scenes promo for the Lifetime film as Liz rolls in her grave right now: Lindsay Lohan Liz & Dick Behind-the-Scenes The new movie, starring Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor and Bowler as her on-again-off-again husband, Richard Burton, premieres November 3 on Lifetime. In the promo, LiLo says she can relate to Taylor. “I relate to her on a lot of levels,” says the 26-year-old. “Living in the public eye, dealing with the stress of what other people say, whether it’s true or not.” No word if Taylor was frequently investigated for stealing stuff or hauled into court for probation violations, or liked to send out ridiculous Tweets about Amanda Bynes .
She’s spent the summer covering the songs of other artists, as detailed and depicted in our Kelly Clarkson music section. But now the original American Idol is releasing a new track of her very own. It will be titled “Catch My Breath,” it will hit iTunes next week and it will be part of Kelly’s first-ever greatest hits album in November. Said the star this morning On Air with Ryan Seacrest: “This song represents who I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and where I’m headed as not only an artist but as a 30-year-old that is now smart enough to know that it’s time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today.” We can’t wait!
Kelly Clarkson went Gaga during a concert in Houston on Friday night. Lady Gaga, that is! The singer took her incredible act to her home state of Texas over the weekend and continued to honor fan requests, as she’s done so all summer long at stops in Illinois (” Cry Me a River “) and Virgina (” No Scrubs “). This time, the evening’s cover focused on the music world’s most eccentric Twitter user, with Clarkson risking the wrath of 25 million Little Monsters. Did she deserve their admiration or their ire following a version of “You and I?” Decide for yourself now:
Our love affair with Kelly Clarkson knows no bounds. As the American Idol champion continues to take fan requests across the nation, we’ve been chronicling her journey of covers by posting Clarkson’s takes on Kings of Leon , Florence + the Machine and many others. The latest performance took place last night in Canandaigua, New York and involved Kelly honoring one of her idols, Mariah Carey. Who will always be Clarkson’s baby? Brandon Blackstock , she hopes. Watch the cover now:
Kelly Clarkson hit up two more cities during her latest tour this weekend, covering a recent hit song at each stop. And as the first-ever American Idol has been taking fan requests everywhere she goes, THG has been posting them for readers to enjoy. Because she’s simply that awesome. Most recently, Clarkson traveled back over a decade and treated us to a version of TLC’s ” No Scrubs .” The performance proceeded Kelly traveling back just a few seconds and doing up Carly Rae Jepsen’s summer smash . On Saturday in Mansfield, MA, meanwhile, it was time for some Kings of Leon. Watch Clarkson cover “Cold Desert” in the following video:
Kelly Clarkson has now covered the two biggest hits of 2012. As the first-ever American Idol makes her way around the country on tour, she’s been taking fan requests at each stop. And just a few days ago that request involved a version of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ” Call Me Maybe .” Last night, meanwhile, Clarkson did her best impression of Gotye and his smash “Somebody That I Used to Know,” tackling both parts of the track and – did you really expect anything else? – knocking the cover out of the park. Or out of the beach, in this case, as the concert was set at Jones Beach in Long Island. Watch the rendition now:
