Kurt Cobain Biopic ‘In The Works,’ 16 Years After His Death

Hollywood has been mulling over movies about Nirvana frontman since 1994. By Adam Rosenberg Kurt Cobain Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage In the 16 years since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead on April 5, 1994, numerous attempts have been made to recount his too-short life in film. “Milk” director Gus Van Sant came the closest, modeling the lead character (played by Michael Pitt) in 2005’s “Last Days” after Cobain. A handful of documentaries have also recounted his tragic tale. The next hope for Nirvana fans who would like to see the fallen musician immortalized on the big screen is an untitled biopic that is said to be based largely on “Heavier Than Heaven,” a 2001 biography by Charles R. Cross. “Quantum of Solace” director Marc Forster was at one point rumored to be helming the biopic, though the gig has since passed to “The Messenger” director Oren Moverman . When MTV News spoke with Moverman in February, he set the record straight. “There is a script from David Benioff that is about Kurt Cobain, and I’m in negotiations to polish it and then direct it, but it’s not a done deal deal yet,” he said. “It’s in the works and hopefully it will work out.” Moverman added that Benioff’s script does not lean as much on “Heavier Than Heaven” as some initially thought. “That book has a lot of information, so, yeah, it’s definitely a great resource. But a lot of [the script] is also based on David Benioff’s research and creative flourishes,” he explained. “To tell you the truth, it’s so early in the process, it would be not right for me to try to guess what the film will be before I start to actually attack it, before I’m officially on it.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Miley Cyrus Received Hate Mail On Twitter

Cyrus cancelled her Twitter account after her tweets about gay marriage invited negative criticism. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage Although Miley Cyrus deleted her Twitter account last fall, it still seems to be a hot topic of discussion as she makes the rounds promoting her latest flick, “The Last Song.” She said that one of the reasons she left the social-networking site is because she believes the Internet “wastes your life,” and in a new interview, she admits that some of the things she said in her tweets angered people. “There has been so much controversy sometimes about what I’ve said or done because I believe there are no mistakes, because God is the only one who can judge us,” Cyrus told Parade magazine. “That’s the reason I deleted my Twitter account because I said on there that I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other, and I got such hate mail about my being a bad person.” She also reveals in the interview that she isn’t a fan of the paparazzi that follow her around at all times. “The other day I felt a little bit in danger for the first time because there were too many photographers following me in too many cars. And I have to ask myself, ‘Why would any other 50-year-old man who was stalking a 17-year-old girl go to jail, but not these guys? I’m not as American as anyone else?’ ” she said. “I mean, they couldn’t sit outside of a high school but they can sit outside my recording studio. It’s creepy.” Cyrus said she doesn’t think she’d ever make country music because she thinks it would require her to act as “sweet as pie,” and that she recently became a fan of Lady Gaga. “I love her. She’s really smart. I caught her on ‘Oprah’ and she was really chill. I used to be like, yeah, I guess she’s talented but how much is she really singing. But I’ve become a convert. She has to be smart to come up with all her gags and the stuff she comes up with. She gets it. She knows exactly what she’s doing,” she explained, adding, “It’s like Dolly Parton. Dolly plays up that I’m-a-cute-dumb-blonde but, believe me, she’s not dumb. She’s sitting on a ba-jillion dollars.” Related Artists Miley Cyrus

‘We Are The World’ Debuts At #2 On Billboard Hot 100

Charity single falls just behind Ke$ha’s ‘Tik Tok.’ By Jayson Rodriguez LL Cool J, Wyclef Jean, Swizz Beatz, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes and will.i.am perform “We Are the World” Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Wire Image Despite some big-name detractors , “We Are the World: 25 for Haiti” debuts at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart just days after the all-star charity single premiered during the televised opening of the Vancouver Winter Olympics. The song, a remake of the Michael Jackson- and Lionel Richie-powered original, was only bested by Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok,” which tops the chart for the ninth straight week. The “WATW” remake produced by RedOne and featuring the collective Artist for Haiti — a group that comprises a number of musicians and actors, including Jamie Foxx, Justin Bieber, Pink, Usher, Kanye West and Celine Dion, among others — is the latest charity effort to rise on the charts. The Hope for Haiti Now album , which featured covers by artists like Justin Timberlake and an original song by Jay-Z, U2’s Bono and The Edge, Swizz Beatz and Rihanna, topped the Billboard 200 album chart. The project was the first all-digital album to land at the top of the charts. Both Hope for Haiti Now and the “We Are the World” remake provide much-needed funds for various Haitian earthquake relief efforts . The new “We Are the World” video was helmed by Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis, who described the shoot as “chaos” but noted it was a remarkable experience. “You hear these stories about people checking their egos at the door, and it really is true,” Haggis told MTV News. “They came and stood forever and were glorified extras a lot of the time. They just stood in the corner and waved. It was hot and it was crowded. When there’s chaos, there’s friction. Where there’s fiction, there’s drama, and I knew I’d have fun things to shoot. Unfortunately, there wasn’t as much drama as I expected. People really got along very well.” Related Videos Behind The Scenes Of ‘We Are The World’ Related Photos ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ Recording Session

Ke$ha, Jennifer Garner Encourage Girls-Only Valentine’s Day Plans

Mary J. Blige, meanwhile, offers up some holiday advice for the guys: ‘Really love your woman.’ By Jocelyn Vena Ke$ha Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images Jessica Alba recently offered up her dating tips for Valentine’s Day, and there are plenty of other famous ladies willing to reveal the quickest way to their hearts and their big plans for the romantic holiday. If you’re single, “Valentine’s Day” star Jennifer Garner (who is now married to Ben Affleck) has your back. “Girls should go together,” she told MTV News about some alternative Valentine’s Day plans for all the single ladies. “If you don’t have a boyfriend, just grab your girlfriends and go. My best Valentine’s Day, I took my friend, both of us were single, and said, ‘Screw it, we’re going to go have a romantic weekend.’ We went to the wine country, we stayed in romantic bed-and-breakfasts, and we had wine tastings and great meals and massages. We were surrounded by couples in love, and we did not care.” Garner’s “Valentine’s Day” co-star Jessica Biel, herself one half of a celebrity powerhouse couple (along with beau Justin Timberlake), confessed that she doesn’t have any specific plans for February 14. “I have to get my act together,” she said. “I’m doing a last-minute crunch-time plan.” Ke$ha has a less positive outlook on the day. “Blah!” she said, reiterating Garner’s girls-only plans. “Go out with your girlfriends. Blah — that’s all I have to say about Valentine’s Day. Happy Valentine’s Day! Whatever!” Mary J. Blige just wants guys to know that the day is all about showing and not just telling. “The only advice I have for the men is to really love your woman,” she advised. “But by showing her. Give her what she needs.” Which one of these girls would you most want as your Valentine? Let us know in the comments below!
