50 Cent, Trey Songz, Snoop Dogg surprise fans at Power 106 show, which also featured Big Sean, Jeremih, LMFAO, the Rej3ctz and T-Pain. By Felicia “The Poetess” Morris Wiz Khalifa at Power 106’s Powerhouse 2011 on Saturday Photo: MTV News LOS ANGELES — Radio station Power 106 held their annual sold-out Powerhouse concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night, bringing together multiple generations of hip-hop stars, from West Coast OG Ice Cube to L.A.’s latest dance-craze instigators the Rej3ctz to a chart-topping visitor from out east, Wiz Khalifa . The Rej3ctz opened the show with a high-energy performance and later danced onstage with the very colorful LMFAO as they performed “Shots.” Sporting a white T-shirt and bright yellow cargo shorts, T-Pain took it up a couple notches with a string of his hits and left fans fully charged with DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win.” The evening had a couple of surprises on deck: 50 Cent joined Jeremih on their collabo “Down on Me,” which Jeremih said was the first time they’ve ever performed the song together in concert. Compton’s own DJ Quik gave loyal fans what they came for, and when Lupe Fiasco pulled young crooner Trey Songz onstage during his set, screaming concertgoers raised the decibels to new heights. The Don Mega himself, Ice Cube, brought out his old N.W.A bandmate MC Ren on the song “Hello.” “It makes you feel good, being in the game as long as I have,” Ice Cube told MTV News before the show. “I done went from new school to old school and still here. You can’t do nothing but be humbled by the fact that so many rappers is gone. … I’m still here after all this time.” Cube was also the most-anticipated act of the evening by fellow performers including the headliner, Wiz Khalifa. “This is my first time performing at Powerhouse, my first time performing at an event this big, so I feel elated,” Wiz told MTV News before his set. “I’m really excited about seeing Cube.” But Khalifa had another trick up his sleeve when it came to honoring L.A.’s hip-hop roots: He brought out his “High School” co-star Snoop Dogg for one last Powerhouse surprise, no doubt leaving 18,000 fans feeling like they got their money’s worth. After wowing Bonnaroo crowd on Saturday, Wiz shut down gossip, telling MTV News, ‘Me and Waka and are cool.’ By James Montgomery Wiz Khalifa at Bonnaroo 2011 Photo: Rob Loud/ Getty Images MANCHESTER, Tennessee – Wiz Khalifa’s Saturday evening set at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival was, by his own admission, probably the biggest show he’s played since bursting onto the scene last year. And feeding upon the vibes of the crowd, he delivered a set that was as loose and lively as it was hit-packed and hungry. “I was feeling the energy the whole time, and I’ve been doing a lot of shows and growing as a performer and an artist, so I just wanted to build on all that,” he told MTV News following the performance. “Being a top act on such a huge stage in front of so many people, it’s a great starting point for my career, because a lot of people work their whole careers and then get here.” Of course, though he was still basking in the afterglow of his Bonnaroo set, Wiz also felt the need to address an issue that (supposedly) occurred at another of his big-stage shows: rumors of a backstage altercation with Waka Flocka Flame at Hot 97’s Summer Jam in New York earlier this month. “Yeah, nothing happened backstage,” Khalifa said. “It’s always something; making up some rumor about something happening with me backstage during somebody’s set, but nothing happened. Me and Waka and are cool. That’s just people trying to promote negativity.” And to hear Wiz tell it, there’s been a whole lot of that negativity going on in recent months. But, as he continues on the upswing of his young career, he’s not going to let any of it get him down. After all, there will be plenty more shows like Bonnaroo on the horizon, and he prefers to focus on that. “There’s just so much fake sh– going on. Like, people will buy into what’s fake. According to people, this isn’t my Rolex, you know?” he said. “But that’s just what mugs like to think and what they like to talk about, but the reality of the situation is everything’s under control. And this is my Rolex. That I bought.” Did you catch Wiz’s set at Bonnaroo? Share your reviews in the comments! ‘It’s fun to talk about it and make jokes about, but in all reality, that didn’t even exist,’ Wiz tells us about alleged altercation. By Steven Roberts Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — Wiz Khalifa is riding high — pun not intended, even though it kind of works — off the success of his debut album, “Rolling Papers,” and a stage show that is quickly garnering a lot of praise. But Wiz can’t seem to escape the gossip that doggedly follows him and girlfriend Amber Rose around. Rumor has it that Wiz confronted Kanye West over a jab West took at Rose during his show-stealing set at Coachella . During his performance of “Stronger,” West slightly altered the lyrics from “I’ll do anything for a blonde dike and she’ll do anything for the limelight/ We’ll do anything when the time’s right” to “I did anything for a blonde dike and she did anything for the limelight/ And we did anything when the time’s right.” An altercation allegedly occurred after West’s performance, but when MTV News caught up with Wiz before his set at this weekend’s Bamboozle Festival, he said the entire backstage incident was fabricated. “I did my set and we hung around for a bit, but we weren’t even there when fam was onstage,” Wiz said. “Somebody made that up. I think they just wanted it to be that type of situation or they wanted to see something go down. It’s fun to talk about it and make jokes about, but in all reality, that didn’t even exist.” Wiz said he did hear Kanye’s lyrics though. He thought it was a low moment, that many people who look up to West may have been turned off by his lyrical alteration. He harbors no ill will, however. “It is what it is, and I’m doing my business and she’s doing her business and he’s doing his business and that’s what it is. I’m all about positivity and I’m going to keep it that way.” Wiz kept things moving, co-headlining Bamboozle Friday night along with 30 Seconds to Mars. Wiz is currently on the College Consciousness Tour with fellow Steel City native Mac Miller, and he plans to head out with the Motor City’s own Big Sean next month for the Rolling Papers tour . But he’s happy to perform wherever his fans — or soon-to-be-fans — may be. “I think my crowd, they kind of just go everywhere and wherever I’m at. I kind of just entertain them as well as make new fans. Some of the people that come to my shows, they just know me for one or two songs, so even the people that don’t know me at all at shows like Bamboozle, I get to make them new fans.” Related Videos Get Bamboozled In New Jersey Related Artists Wiz Khalifa Kanye West

Casey Abrams will surely pull out all the stops after his near-elimination. By Eric Ditzian Jacob Lusk Photo: FOX Last week on “American Idol,” Jacob Lusk soared, while Casey Abrams collapsed , literally, falling into Ryan Seacrest’s arms as the judges exercised their only save of the season to prevent the bearded fellow from going home. Where does the show go from here? Will Lusk, who bounced back from a few dreadful performances to wow the crowd with Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “You’re All I Need to Get By,” be able to keep it up during Wednesday’s (March 30) Elton John themed evening? Can Abrams buck up after almost chucking up his dinner, following his sing-for-survival take on Ray Charles’ “I Don’t Need No Doctor”? Those are just two of the questions we’re kicking around as we head into the show. Here’s what we’re hoping to see from each singer when “Idol” goes live. Casey Abrams At this point, there can hardly be any disputing that Abrams is this year’s Andrew Garcia, a guy whose musical stylings were revelatory at first but quickly revealed themselves as one-note. The problem right now for Casey is that he’s been all over the place in recent weeks — wannabe grunge kid here, slicked-back showman there. We don’t expect him to last much longer, but while he’s still there, Abrams should simply embrace who he truly is: a singer who over-relies on his growl and has a ton of fun up on the stage. A slowed-down take on “The Bitch Is Back” could be a nice fit. Haley Reinhart If you believe the tabloid press, Haley and Casey have coupled up behind the scenes. They might be able to spend a whole lot more time together soon. Her best bet to avoid a trip home is to cover a highly recognizable Elton tune and hope the public, merrily singing along, transfers some good will to Haley in the form of votes. Perhaps a husky, bluesy version of “Tiny Dancer” is in order. Jacob Lusk When Jacob sings, you feel it. Sometimes that makes it a terrifying experience, and sometimes it’s a moving one. With a new emphasis on restraining his impulse to over-sing and under-deliver, Lusk would be savvy to cover “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” and wait until the final notes to truly sing the hell out of the tune. James Durbin We continue to argue that Durbin is at his best when showing off his sensitive, genuine side, rather than pretending he’s some sort of rock star you’d best keep your sisters and daughters away from. We want the 22-year-old to keep his performance slow this week, which is why we’ll point him in the direction of “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters.” Lauren Alaina We fear Lauren will go uptempo once again — she seems to enjoy strutting around the stage like a go-go dancer plopped into a country salon. But she’s at her best while belting over a spare arrangement. So we hope she avoids something like “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and instead reaches for something special with a ballad like “Something About the Way You Look Tonight.” Naima Adedapo The 26-year-old has hung around an admirably long time, but Elton John week should present her a serious challenge. We think. Honestly, we’re never sure what Naima is going to give us week to week. While we’re unchanged in our view that she’d be best served by carving out an Adele-like niche for herself, Naima doesn’t seem intent on defining herself in any one way. So we won’t pick a specific song for her, just cross our fingers that she shows us something like she did during her audition take on Donny Hathaway, when we first tagged her as a contestant to watch. Paul McDonald Paul likes to boogie. There’s no way he’ll play guitar two weeks in a row and avoid those gyrations he calls dancing. But we can hope, right? How about we split the difference and have him hold onto the mic stand for dear life as he delivers a convulsive cover of “Bennie and the Jets”? Pia Toscano Wait, wait, wait — she’s totally going to do a ballad again, right? Even though the judges are nearly down on their knees begging Pia to bust out something with a pulse? Come on, you don’t think she’d actually do something like “Crocodile Rock”? Ha! The gal with the season’s biggest pipes isn’t going to stray from her comfort zone, if only because we’re not sure she’d be able to at this point. So it’s “Something About the Way You Look Tonight” for her. Scotty McCreery Speaking of comfort zones, Scotty ain’t going anywhere that’s not within spitting distance of a Travis Tritt song. We’re done expecting anything else. Listen to the lyrics of “Your Song” and it just feels like a country song. We have a feeling that’s where Scotty is headed on Wednesday. Stefano Langone Aside from Casey, who probably sustained some bruises (and possibly a heart attack), Stefano is the contestant who suffered most last week: He closed his eyes and butchered Lionel Richie’s “Hello.” This week, he’s got to sing an Elton song that drips with so much emotion even Stefano couldn’t fail to connect with some. lyrics As strange and potentially cheesy as it may be, “Candle in the Wind” — arranged in a vaguely contemporary manner — might be in order. Thia Megia Let’s agree to this: If Thia sings the “Circle of Life,” “American Idol” closes up shop forever. After the brutal reception of her “Pocahontas” tune earlier this month, she wouldn’t actually take on “The Lion King,” would she? Hey, the kid seems so mixed up these days, anything is possible. An uptempo number didn’t work for her last week. Nothing, to be frank, might prevent her from getting a trip home. In that sense, then, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” could be the perfect choice. Chris Brown may be a public relations nightmare, but it hasn’t affected the sales of his music. Brown’s new album, F.A.M.E. will debut at number one on this week’s Billboard Top 200 album chart. On the album’s release date last Tuesday, Brown was interviewed on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” As we previously reported, after performing on the show and being interviewed by GMA’s Robin Roberts, Brown retreated to his dressing room and smashed a window because of a line of questioning from Roberts dealing with his 2009 assault on Rihanna. Brown apologized for the incident, and ABC extended an invite for Brown to come back to “Good Morning America.” Spotted @ Billboard.com RELATED: Chris Brown Performs On “Dancing With The Stars” RELATED: Chris Brown Is Driving His Neighbors Crazy RELATED: Wendy Williams & Romeo On Dancing With The Stars [VIDEO] RELATED: Chris Brown Dyes His Hair, Again!
