Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Finally Pucker Up After Winning Best Kiss At MTV Movie Awards

‘Twilight’ stars comically fumble while accepting trophy at 2010 MTV Movie Awards. By Terri Schwartz Robert Pattinson and Krtisten Stewart Photo: Getty Images There couldn’t have been much doubt that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would win the Best Kiss award for their smooch in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” After all, this is a fan-voted award, and after last year’s almost -kiss the focus seemed to be less on “Will they win?” and more on “Will they kiss?” Well, they did. But they didn’t give it up easy. Neither Stewart nor Pattinson looked shocked when their win was announced, but Stewart (rather comically) stumbled a bit when she went she got up from her seat. She turned and gave him an embarrassed half-hug, which should have tipped viewers off to the fact that, yes, they would give fans what they have been so anticipating for years. Pattinson accepted the award, saying, “Thanks a lot guys, there was very stiff competition this year. It’s really nice to win it two years in a row.” The crowd started shouting, but Stewart calmed the excitement by saying, “To be perfectly honest with you, it takes a lot of smoke and mirrors to make us look good kissing.” Just when it seemed like they were going to let fans down a second year in a row, she surprised everyone by saying, “We’ll give it a shot.” That “shot” consisted of several obviously fake, sort of awkward “attempts” at kissing, and Stewart said after two mishaps that “we probably shouldn’t do this right now.” At that point, Pattinson grabbed her, spinning his back to the camera, and kissing her quickly on the lips. It took only half a second for Stewart to push Pattinson away, and while he looked a bit dazed and giddy after the kiss — almost like it was supposed to go longer? — Stewart quickly thanked the audience and the two walked offstage. While the kiss still didn’t answer the question of whether Robsten are an actual item, one thing is certain after their performance: They’re a shoo-in for winning Best Kiss again for “Eclipse.” After all, what will happen onstage next year? ‘New Moon’ Director Sizes Up ‘Avatar’ In MTV Movie Awards Rivalry

‘Kristen is my girl and I think she should win,’ Chris Weitz says of Stewart taking Best Female Performance over Zoe Saladna. By Josh Wigler Kristen Stewart Photo: Larry Bussacca/ Getty Images Perhaps the biggest rivalry at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday is the head-to-head contest of “Avatar” versus “New Moon.” The fierce Na’vi of Pandora and the supernatural creatures of Forks, Washington, are on a collision course in categories such as Best Movie and Best Kiss, but it’s the Best Female Performance award that has many fans biting their nails. While “Twilight” lovers are fiercely loyal to Kristen Stewart, whose portrayal of lovelorn Bella Swan in “New Moon” won her the nod, there’s no denying that Zoe Saldana delivered a powerful performance as warrior woman Neytiri in “Avatar.” For moviegoers who enjoy both franchises, it’s a nearly impossible choice, but for those involved in the franchises, such as “New Moon” director Chris Weitz, the decision is considerably easier. “Kristen is my girl and I think that she should win,” Weitz told MTV News when asked to weigh in. “She’s a fantastic actress.” That’s not to say that Weitz isn’t interested in seeing the “New Moon” star throw down with Saldana for the award, as he suggested: “Maybe they should resolve it with a mixed martial arts thing. Why not?” Why not? Well, here’s one obvious reason: Not only did Saldana get in the thick of battle as the female lead in “Avatar,” she also turned in badass performances in 2009’s “Star Trek” and this year’s “The Losers.” On top of that, she’s attached to star in “Colombiana,” a mercenary thriller from “The Transporter” and “Taken” mastermind Luc Besson. When it comes to kicking butt and taking names — Saldana is certainly not one to be trifled with. But Weitz wasn’t worried. “Kristen’s scrappy,” the director revealed. “She’s wiry, she’s scrappy.” What’s your take, readers? Is Stewart scrappy enough to take on Saldana, with her impressive action-hero resume? Tell us in the comments! ‘Breaking Dawn’ Is ‘Big Enough’ For Two Films, Chris Weitz Says

‘New Moon’ director also talks birth scene: ‘Kristen Stewart giving live birth through the stomach in 3-D! I’m there.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Chris Weitz Photo: MTV News The “Twilight” gang loves Chris Weitz. There’s no doubting that. In the run-up to the release of the Weitz-helmed “New Moon,” Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner spoke effusively about working with the director, even hoping he might reprise his role behind the camera for “Breaking Dawn.” Weitz ended up declining the opportunity to bring the final book in the vampire series to the big screen, but he remains flattered that the cast supports him and even has a bit of advice for “Breaking Dawn” director Bill Condon (“Dreamgirls”). “That’s very sweet,” Weitz told MTV News when reminded of how the cast has championed him. “I think that’s because I was the last person who directed them.” Weitz, who led “New Moon” to more than $700 million in worldwide box-office receipts, is confident that Condon is the right man to step into the director’s chair for “Breaking Dawn.” “I think he’s terribly talented,” Weitz said. “I know him, he’s a solid citizen, great guy, very smart. I think he’s going to do an amazing job.” His one piece of advice? “Think carefully about babies clawing out of people’s stomachs,” Weitz said in reference to one scene in the book, going on to refer to an even more famous scene in 1979’s “Alien.” “[Director] Ridley Scott sort of did it.” Weitz added with a laugh, “Kristen Stewart giving live birth through the stomach in 3-D! I’m there. I’m paying.” And he’d be happy to pay for not just one film, but two. It has long been rumored that “Breaking Dawn” will be split into two flicks. That’s a move Weitz endorses. “The book is big enough that it would warrant it,” he said.
