OutKast fans can finally rejoice! It looks like music executive L.A. Reid is making major moves at his new label home Epic Records. According to The Hollywood Reporter , legendary Atlanta duo OutKast will be signing a group deal with Reid, in addition to Atlanta’s own Ciara. The HR says: Since taking over Sony Music’s Epic Records in July, label chairman and X Factor judge L.A. Reid has been busy erasing the company’s tarnished image and rebuilding its roster, which will soon include Outkast and Ciara, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Reid has a long history with both acts, who were originally signed to his LaFace Records (label home to a young Usher, Pink and TLC). In 1994, LaFace, which had entered into a joint venture partnership with Sony’s Arista Records in 1989, released Outkast’s debut album, Southern-playalisticadillacmuzik. Ten years later, with Reid nearing the end of his presidency at Arista, the duo’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below sold 11 million copies and won six Grammy awards. Hip-Hop fans have been yearning for a new OutKast album, so this news comes as a pleasant surprise. SOURCE Will L.A. Reid Get OutKast To Finally Drop An Album Together? L.A. In what would be a stepping stone in his career, ATL’s own Andre 3000 may play famed guitarist Jimi Hendrix in a upcoming independent biopic. The news was divulged from actress Hayley Atwell who told Esquire magazine that she will possibly be working on the project alongside the OutKast member. Previous attempts to bring a Jimi Hendrix story to life have been made by Laurence Fishburne and Lenny Kravitz. Both were unsuccessful. In an interview with the New York Daily News seven years ago, 3 Stacks said he was excited about portraying the two sides of Hendrix’s persona onscreen, though no project ever materialized. “Jimi was wild onstage,” he said. “Offstage, he was really calm.” The film never came to be, however. Laurence Fishburne and rocker Lenny Kravitz have similarly thrown their hats into the ring to bring the musician’s biopic to life over the years, but securing rights to the story has been a reportedly tough process. In the new series Batwing DC Comics is bringing one of the world’s most popular super heroes to the cradle of civilization. “Batwing #1” will feature the first black character to don the Batman suit. Editor Mike Marts told IGN that this wasn’t a flight of fancy on their part. This is a legitimate story line from the Batman universe and that he will be African, not a Black American. “Batwing #1 is a series that spins right out of Grant Morrison’s Batman Incorporated storyline. This is the first time that we have an in-continuity black character wearing the Batman costume.” READ MORE AT THEBLACKBOXOFFICE.COM RELATED POSTS: VIDEO: Rhymefest Hates On Batman VIDEO: Batman Arrested For Beating Up Black People FACT OF THE DAY: Ashanti Was Once A Bad Girl Remember Snoop’s Perm & Curls?
