Steve Harvey Lawsuit: Ex-Wife Alleges Mental Torture, "Soul Murdering"

In a controversial letter to employees that went viral last week, Steve Harvey demanded to be left alone . But Mary L. Vaughn apparently did not get the memo. The comedian’s ex-wife is coming strong after the man she says scorned her in nearly every way imaginable, filing a $60 million lawsuit against Harvey that paints him in an even worse light than that infamous letter. Vaughn and Harvey were married from 1996 through 2005. During their time together, the former was allegedly subjected to “prolonged torture with the infliction of severe mental pain and suffering,” according to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight. These same legal papers also claim that Vaughn “attempted suicide by self-medicating [in] an effort to stop the pain.” Yikes . They go on to allege that Harvey and his lawyer caused “severe emotional distress” that led to a litany of medical conditions for not only Vaughn … but her immediate family over the past 15 years or so. Pretty damning accusations, that’s for certain. And Vaughn isn’t even finished. She’s suing the talk show host for child endangerment, torture, kidnapping, breach of contract, conspiracy against rights, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and “soul murdering.” The lawsuit even cites such terms/actions as harassment , brainwashing and theft by deception . Harvey and Vaughn share a 10-year old son, Wynton. This isn’t the first time the latter has aired severe accusations against Harvey, having previously gone off on him via a YouTube video. She was even jailed for 30 days in 2013 for contempt of court after violating the terms of a gag order in the couple’s divorce. Harvey has three kids from his first marriage and has been the husband of third wife Marjorie since 2007. Just a few days ago, Harvey made negative headlines after the Internet learned that he sent a memo to employees last year in which he laid out a series of ground rules. They all boiled down to Harvey wanting total and complete privacy at work, with excerpts including the following demands: Do not come to my dressing room unless invited. Do not approach me while I’m in the makeup chair unless I ask to speak with you directly. Do not wait in the hallway to speak to me… make an appointment. The star eventually acknowledged that he sent this letter, but made no apologies for how much of a diva it made him sound like. “I could not find a way to walk from the stage to my dressing room, to sit in my makeup chair, to walk from my dressing room to the stage or to just sit and have lunch without somebody just walking in,” Harvey explained to ET , adding: “I’ve always had a policy where, you know, you can come and talk to me – so many people are great around here, but some of them just started taking advantage of it… “I just didn’t want to be in this prison anymore where I had to be in this little room, scared to go out and take a breath of fresh air without somebody approaching me, so I wrote the letter.” Vaughn would likely say that she knows a thing or two about being stuck in a prison when it comes to Harvey. In response to her lawsuit, Steve’s attorney Brandon Williams told TMZ the followingL “Mr. Harvey vehemently denies any allegations set forth in the lawsuit. The Complaint is meritless, frivolous and the allegations are completely false. “We will vigorously defend/counterclaim against the Complaint.”

Exclusive: Frank Ocean Shuts Down Own Father In $14 Mill Libel Case

Singer In Court With His Own Father Over Defamation Claims Frank Ocean has shut down his own father in a $14.5 million legal battle after a judge sided with the singer over allegations he faked his sympathy over the Orlando nightclub massacre. Earlier this year, the singer was sued by his estranged father, Calvin Cooksey, accusing him of ruining his good name. Cooksey explained his son published a Tumblr post last year following the Orlando nighttclub massacre. He accused his father of using a slur towards another person when he was just a kid. He wrote, “”I was 6 years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f****t as he dragged me out of a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty.” Frank’s dad claimed the singer defamed him and ruined his reputation, with people now believing he is a bigot, a claim he denies and said the story recounted was fabricated. He sued for $14.5 million in damages. Then recently, Frank headed to court blasting his father and the lawsuit he filed. He calls the allegations in the suit redundant, immaterial and full of scandalous attacks and insults directed to him and others. He demanded certain allegations be stricken from the complaint and his father be ordered to refile an amended complaint … due to the numerous statements Frank believes are offensive. He points out to the line his father included accusing him of being dishonest in his grief for the victims of the Orlando Massacre. Frank says all references to religion including the allegation that he, ““attacked God’s laws,” Islam, Christianity, and “holy scripture” as a publicity stunt; a reference to “homosexual sin and persecution.” He also demanded all mentions and attacks on Tyler the Creator, Ellen DeGeneres and his mother be removed from the case. The singer adds, “Plaintiff’s scurrilous ad hominem attacks, insults, and other scandalous and immaterial allegations, directed at defendant and others, are abusive and detract from the respect and decorum of this Court.” He demanded the judge order his dad to strike the allegations in question and amend his complaint before he even responds. Then on April 26th, the judge came back and sided with Frank by ordering his dad to remove all irrelevant statements and accusations about the singer tricking others into believing that he was genuinely upset about the Orlando nightclub shooting, any comments that he disrespected God and scripture.

Nicole Curtis: Sued by Entire City of Minneapolis!

Nicole Curtis has come under fire. And not just for the dumb name of her HGTV series this time. Instead, the city of Minneapolis has sued Curtis’ company (Detroit Renovations), claiming the Rehab Addict host failed to renovate a dilapidated home her firm bought from the city in 2013 … … for just $2. According to legal documented obtained by Consumerist, the HGTV star and her company failed to adhere to the terms of a contract they entered into with Minneapolis. This contract called for Curtis to fix-up a property in North Minneapolis, while also completing a list of basic improvements within 365 days. The lawsuit was filed in January, but only just made public this week. It states that Detroit Renovations “failed to substantially complete the Minimum Improvements on the Property.” It also claims the company hasn’t paid property taxes or maintained insurance on the residence. The city claims a breach of contract has been made and asks the court to take the property away from Curtis. On Rehab Addict, Curtis and her team renovate historic houses around Michigan and Minnesota. It debuted on HGTV in October of 2010. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Curtis’ attorneys responded in court filings that the small screen personality admits the residence in question has not been renovated. However, that the company “was prevented and/or delayed from completing performance (of the contract’s terms) due to the acts of Plaintiff and the acts of third parties.” As for how city officials even learned about the state of the property? The Tribute states they received numerous complaints from neighbors about unsafe conditions. Curtis isn’t keeping quiet about this controversy. She responded to the lawsuit on social media, saying on Instagram that she’s told her employees to “to ignore the negativity.” She added: “The only way I’ve gotten this far is by staying on my path and remembering that those that have the time to disband such hate on others …well, let’s just say happy, successful people don’t do that.” Curtis went on to slam her critics as “energy suckers,” while referring to herself as an “energy giver.” Among other reactions she’s shared on social media… Curtis is a mother of two. She embroiled in a child custody battle with the father of her 20-month-old son, Harper. And she’s only the latest HGTV personality to get caught up in a headline-making scandal. We all know about Christina and Tarek El Moussa at this point, right? The hosts of Flip or Flop are getting a divorce, following a violent confrontation last spring, and are in the news these days more often for updates on their relationship status than for anything having to do with buying and fixing up homes. Chip and Joanna Gaines, meanwhile, comprise the beloved couple at the center of Fixer Upper. They reside in Texas and were dragged into a story late last year that centered around the pastor at a church they frequent, with a Buzzfeed reporter wondering about Chip and Joanna’s views on gay people in light of some of that pastor’s comments. View Slideshow: HGTV Scandals That Rocked the Television World Chip called for general “respect” during this scandal, which appears to have at least blown over for the stars. Unlike the El Moussas and Curtis (allegedly!), they didn’t actually take any kind of inappropriate actions to earn the scorn of long-time fans and viewers. Will this lawsuit threaten the future of Rehab Addict on HGTV? Only time, folks, will tell. Only time.

We know that Kardashian has kept a pretty low profile since she was reportedly tied up and robbed in her hotel room in Paris during Fashion Week back in October. As for West, he was hospitalized last month after a series of on-stage rants and cancelling the rest of his Saint Pablo Tour dates. The next time we saw him, he was dragged for meeting up with Donald Trump. After all of that, there were rumors that Kardashian was growing weary of West’s behavior and their marriage was on the rocks. However, the pair presented a united front to celebrate Christmas. [ madamenoire ] BET And Gabrielle Union Settle Lawsuit Over Being Mary Jane In October, Union filed a lawsuit against BET accusing the network of breach of contract. Union’s lawyers said their client agreed to star in Being Mary Jane only after she’d been assured no more than 13 episodes would ever be produced for one season of the show. However, the network was reportedly attempting to cut costs and shoot 20 episodes back-to-back and squeeze them into one season which not only violated that agreement but would’ve also eliminated the pay increase Union is supposed to get with every new season. As a result, Union sought general damages of at least $3 million and a declaration that BET cannot seek more than 13 episodes for any season of Being Mary Jane. BET promised they were “committed to reaching a swift and positive resolution” regarding the lawsuit and it looks like they’ve done just that. [ madamenoire ] Ice Cube Announces ‘BIG3’ Basketball League For Retired NBA Players This actually sounds dope. The league will be called BIG3 and will feature recently-retired NBA players who still want to play the game at a competitive level. Peep, we said recently retired. So this won’t be like the Legends game that used to happen during NBA All-Star Weekend back in the day. There will be no Karl Malone or Patrick Ewing sightings on the court. Instead, this league will have guys like Stephen Jackson, Kenyon Martin, Jermaine O’Neal and Jason Williams who all have signed on to play according to league officials. This isn’t just going to be pick-up basketball either. Cube is partnering with former NBA Players Association Deputy executive director Roger Mason, Jr. who is leaving his post to help build the league along with investors. Threesome TKO: Adrien Broner Ordered To Pay $175,000 For Leaked Sextape

Broner Order To Pay Up For Leaked Sextape A Nevada judge ruled that a sextape that featured Adrien Broner and two other women was leaked due to his negligence, and ordered the boxer to compensate the plaintiff $40,000 for lost wages. He is also being mandated to pay $135,000 for pain and suffering. Throughout the trial, Broner had attempted to fight the lawsuit behind his claim that the tape was leaked by an unknown party after he lost the cellphone it was stored on and that he simply misplaced it due to the fact that he carries around 3 cellphones at one time. As he describes it; one of the phones is for home, another for business, and the phone in question being his “ho phone.” But Broner apparently didn’t have a good enough answer for why he wouldn’t have password-protected it knowing he had the video stored on the device.
