Remember this summer’s Hangover Part II ? The Todd Phillips sequel about American pals who indulge in blacked-out Bangkok escapades involving kidnapped Buddhist monks, a chain-smoking monkey, Toyota car chases, kathoey prostitutes, Russian mobsters and Mike Tyson singing an obscure ’80s song from Murray Head? Well, now someone is claiming that the critically disappointing blockbuster was based on his own life, and he’s suing the filmmakers.
Try as she might up in Toronto, Madonna just can’t shake the stink of Hydrangea-Gate. Despite a quasi mea culpa for her insensitivity to the flowers and their provider, a new video from the singer-filmmaker suggests that not only is she not remorseful, but she will also not hesitate to kill again. “It’s a free country!” she “roars” in the silent short scored to the Godfather II theme. “So f**k you I like roses!!” Classy. Jennifer Westfeldt’s sort-of romantic comedy Friends with Kids is on to something, even if in the end it suffers from a failure of nerve. This is actor and screenwriter Westfeldt’s directorial debut (she co-wrote and starred in the 2001 feature Kissing Jessica Stein ), and it’s polished to the point of shallow glossiness — it could benefit from being a little rougher, a little messier.
Back in 2007, during the filming of Bruno , Sacha Baron Cohen and his film crew stormed a California bingo hall. They asked the unsuspecting patrons to sign Standard Consent Agreements, alleged that they were filming a “documentary-style film,” and then Bruno was invited on stage to call numbers. Only instead of just calling numbers, the flamboyant Austrian character related each digit to a milestone in his relationship with a former gay partner — a showy extreme that ended in tears, a call to the paramedics, security officers forcibly removing Cohen, a “brain bleed” and a lawsuit against NBC Universal, that we learn today, the studio has won.

Talk about the wrong place for a California King Bed. After her house took on serious water, Rihanna is suing a real estate company, property inspector and the former owner of the property she bought in Beverly Hills. She claims that those involved with the sale failed to inform her that the residence was “laden with construction defects” that ultimately resulted in water damage. And that’s no place for a California king bed. Before she closed on it in 2009, LaRocca Inspection Associates found a number of issues, including cracks in exterior walls and drainage problems on the roof that could make the house susceptible to water damage, according to the lawsuit. Rihanna still wanted the house, so she drew up a request for repairs for the owner, the suit states. Upon inspection, LaRocca declared the house “serviceable.” Well, according to the singer’s attorneys … it was not . The house sustained flood damage from a “moderate” January 2010 rainstorm after water pooled on the second-floor balcony and seeped into multiple rooms. A subsequent inspection by an insurance company found similar defects as before and Rihanna is seeking to recover a portion of the $6.9 million she paid. She is suing previous owner Heather Rudamin, Prudential California Realty, LaRocca, Landmark Design Group and a couple of agents thereof for professional negligence, fraud, breach of contract and other offenses. Britney Spears will not be required to give a deposition to Brand Sense, which claims that it helped negotiate a perfume deal for Spears but was cut out of profits. A company suing pop star Britney Spears for cutting them out of a perfume deal is trying to gain access to her medical records to prove she can#39;t testify. At issue is the court-ordered conservatorship she is still under after her behavior in 2007-08, which she is citing as the reason for not giving a deposition. Her father, Jam
You really cannot be serious… According to TMZ , Lil Wayne has been named in yet another lawsuit . Lil Wayne rapped on stolen property — at least according to another MC, who insists he’s the rightful owner of the beat behind Weezy’s “How to Love” … and now, he’s out for some legal vengeance. Rapper Rich Rick (right) filed the lawsuit earlier this week in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming he purchased several master recordings between 2006 and 2009 — including the beat that now appears on “How to Love” — from a group of rap producers called Drummer Boyz. Rick claims the Drummer Boyz double-crossed him in November 2010 — pitching the SAME beat to Lil Wayne … and Weezy acquired it in exchange for a 35% royalty agreement, eventually using the beat on “How to Love.” The song’s a hit — and needless to say, Rick’s royally pissed … insisting the Drummer Boyz screwed him over. Rick’s suing Weezy, the Drummer Boyz, and others for everything from breach of contract to fraud — demanding everything DB are entitled to under their agreement with Wayne … plus 10% interest. Okay, maybe this guy just threw Wayne’s name in the mix for publicity… But still: C’MON SON! Get your business together.
Lindsay Lohan is suing rapper Pitbull over disparaging lyrics in one of his songs. He does zing her pretty good, but a lawsuit? Get outta town. The hit song, “Give Me Everything,” contains this line: Hustlers move aside, so I’m tiptoein’, to keep flowin’, I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan . Oooh, that one hurt! Pitbull – Give Me Everything ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer LiLo claims in her lawsuit that “the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants regarding the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.” Yes, a PITBULL SONG is likely to to her irreparable harm. Lindsay, who LOL-tastically claims she is “a professional actor of good repute and standing in the Screen Actors Guild,” is suing under New York civil rights laws safeguarding one’s name from being exploited for commercial purposes. Lindsay Lohan alleges the song causes her “to be associated in connection with defendants” and seeks to halt broadcasting of the song. Good luck.
Dave Chappelle’s Block Party in 2004 will go down as one of the coolest outdoor concert experiences of the last ten years. R&B star Jill Scott was one of the featured performers and tore down the stage with Erykah Badu during a rendition of “You Got Me.” Now if you watch footage from the movie (released in 2006) Jill was very pleasant and easy going back stage, even with her pimple named “Herbert”. But in a recent interview with TheHuffingtonPost she admitted that being back stage wasn’t all fun for her. MR : You’re in a certain Dave Chappelle’s Block Party flick. That must have been fun. JS : That was not fun for me. It was a great experience, however it wasn’t fun. The only reason I say that is I typically work a certain kind of way. There were so many people and so much energy that it was hard for me to find a space to just be for a moment, straight from a crowd of people to the stage, which is not normally what I do. I remember being thoroughly exhausted when that was over, but very proud of the outcome. I still watch it now and then and I think, “Wow, what a great experience.” READ FULL INTERVIEW AT HUFFINGTONPOST.COM RELATED POSTS: You Voted: Jill Scott Represents Black Music in 2011!
