Chicago Lawyer Convicted Of Murdering Eddy Curry’s Girlfriend And 10-Month-Old Daughter Via NYPost A jury has convicted a Chicago attorney of murdering former NBA center Eddy Curry’s ex-girlfriend and infant daughter four years ago. Fredrick Goings showed no reaction when the jury’s guilty verdict was read Tuesday in the January 2009 shooting deaths of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her and Curry’s 10-month-old daughter, Ava. Goings represented Henry in a child custody case against the former Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Miami Heat center, and was also romantically involved with her. Prosecutors say Henry tried to end her relationship with Goings and moved out with her and Curry’s two children. They say Goings shot Henry in her home while she was holding the infant. Her and Curry’s son, who was then 3 years old, was also in the home but wasn’t harmed. Curry, who now plays in China, didn’t testify. Says Nova’s mother, Yolan Henry: “I’m feeling elated. I can breathe,” she said. “I feel justice has been served.” Yolan Henry testified that she found her surviving grandson, Noah, with the bodies of his sister and mother, and that he told her, “Fredrick did it.” It’s good to see the system benefit those who deserve justice and punish a$$holes that kill babies. Lindsay Lohan’s schedule is too packed with jet-setting and partying to sit for a deposition in a lawsuit, according to the photographer who’s suing her. Grigor Balyan sued Lindsay and her assistant last year, claiming the assistant crashed into him in 2010 outside an L.A. nightclub while driving Miss Crazy. Lindsay was riding shotgun and wasn’t injured, but the celebrity news photographer says he ended up in the hospital – and wants Lohan to pay for it. Balyan says his attorney has been trying in vain to get Lindsay to sit for a deposition, but she says she’s too busy … a claim which really pisses them off . After all, besides making terrible movies on occasion, Lindsay Lohan photos prove she’s “busy” partying around the world or dragging her ass to court. Balyan also claims LiLo said she couldn’t come to L.A. last week for the deposition, yet as we know, she flew all the way from NYC for her probation hearing. Balyan is asking a judge to ORDER Lindsay to sit for a deposition regarding this case ASAP, and also wants her to pay $4,842.43 for his lawyer fees. Just add it to the list …
Chris Brown was dragged into court in L.A. today to answer to accusations from the D.A.’s office that he submitted bogus community service records . Trying to dupe authorities in such fashion – which he denies – could mean a violation of Chris’ probation, which he’s still on for his 2009 assault on Rihanna. What did Brown, his attorney and a judge have to say about it? Chris Brown in Court Not a lot. The judge wants to hear more evidence and scheduled the next hearing for April 5. But most notably, Chris showed up for court WITH RIHANNA! Chris Brown’s girlfriend sat quietly in the gallery with his mom as Brown and his lawyer Mark Geragos told the judge the singer did nothing wrong. The judge said he needed more time to review all of the evidence presented by the D.A., alleging that Brown’s service record was false or incomplete. Brown was also ordered to meet with his probation officer within 48 hours to discuss the situation, and to return for court for a new hearing April 5. That’s it. Chris Brown and Rihanna left the courtroom arm-in-arm; she smiled at the R&B singer and tried to cheer him up as they left the building. Brown, who unleashed an Instagram rant about the situation the night before, was all smiles as he was driven away from court, so we guess it worked. You gotta stand by your man, right?

According to The Washington Post , Wendel Palmer abused a young girl from the youth choir he directed in his church from 2004-2006…his lawyer’s asking why the victim’s only reporting it now!?!?! The Metropolitan Police Department officer accused of sexually abusing a young girl in the youth choir he directed would send the rest of the group to the store and order his victim to stay behind, according to court documents. Wendel Palmer, 44, pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of first-degree child sexual abuse in D.C. Superior Court. According to court documents, the abuse occurred while Palmer directed the youth choir at Bethuel Temple Church of Christ Apostolic in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Avenue SE. During rehearsals, the court documents say, Palmer would tell the girl to stay with him in the pastor’s office while the rest of the choir members went to a store. The assaults began in August 2004 when the girl was 11, according to court documents. They allegedly ran through August 2006, when she was 13. She told investigators there were “too many incidents to count,” court documents say. Other incidents allegedly took place elsewhere in the D.C. area. Police learned of the alleged abuse when the mother of the alleged victim, who is now 19, called a hotline in March 2012 to report it, according to court documents; Detectives interviewed the woman days later. Palmer’s attorney, Harold Martin, argued Thursday that the allegations were “not specific” regarding the date and time of the offenses. Martin also asked why the alleged victim waited until 2012 to report the abuse. “That should raise some question about the level of proof,” said Martin, who also represents the D.C. police union. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah McClellan said her office has no reason to question the woman’s credibility. It was unclear whether Palmer was still associated with the church. Calls to the church were not answered, and a woman who answered a Pennsylvania number listed for the pastor, Winston R. Palmer, said he did not want to talk to a reporter. It could not be determined whether the pastor and Wendel Palmer are related. Bethuel Temple has churches in Southeast Washington and Harrisburg, Pa. The name on the church marquis is Bishop William Rutherford Palmer Jr., who died in 2010 at the age of 75. His wife declined to comment when asked about Wendel Palmer. Several other people listed in public records as relatives also declined to speak to a reporter. In an interview, Pennsylvania Magistrate Judge Robert Jennings III said he knows both Wendel Palmer and the pastor, though he declined to detail their relationship to each other. Jennings said he has attended the Harrisburg church for about five years and has been to the Anacostia church. Asked about the allegations, he said: “I find that hard to believe, I have to say that. I can’t fathom it. I think he is a fine, upstanding young man.” McClellan said Palmer tried to elude police when they tried to arrest him, a claim Martin denied. Court documents say that a sergeant who knew that Palmer was wanted on an arrest warrant discreetly called 911 when she saw him inside the police union office on Wednesday, but he drove away before he could be apprehended and sped away from the sergeant as she followed him in her personal car. Palmer later turned himself in, according to court documents. Palmer is a 22-year veteran of the department who had been assigned to the Sixth District. D.C. Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump confirmed Palmer’s arrest but declined to answer further questions about the investigation. Palmer, who joined the police force in 1990, got into trouble in 2004 after a woman flagged him down while on patrol to tell him about a domestic dispute. City records show that Palmer allowed her into his marked cruiser, took her to a restaurant and brought her back to her apartment. The woman’s husband and aunt came home and found them, according to the records. They filed a complaint with police, who suspended him for 35 days for conduct unbecoming an officer, failure to obey orders and neglect of duty. In 2009, the D.C. Office of Employee Appeals reduced the suspension to 13, awarding Palmer back pay. Palmer, of Fort Washington, has six children through a previous marriage that ended in 2011, according to court records. The records show that his ex-wife took custody of the children — two are now adults — in June 2011. A woman who answered the phone at a number listed for his ex-wife, LaVera Palmer, declined to comment Thursday. Palmer was ordered held in jail ahead of a hearing scheduled for Tuesday. He has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal charges. Magistrate Judge Karen Howze granted Martin’s request to have Palmer isolated from other inmates while jailed, which is common when police are arrested. In the wake of that massacre, many radio stations have pulled the artist’s hit, ” Die Young .” And in response to that move, Ke$ha initially Tweeted that she was “forced” to sing the lyrics to the track… despite actually having a co-writing credit on it. So now here is Ke$ha once again, attempting to clarify the confusion via public statement: “After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young. Forced is not the right word,” she said, adding: “I did have some concerns about the phrase “die young” in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that’s one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. “But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe.” We think this issue can be put to rest now. There are clearly bigger things to focus on.
LeAnn Rimes swears she was not drunk on The X Factor last night, despite a head-scratching performance and a lot of speculation regarding it. The 30-year-old strongly denies earlier celebrity gossip reports that she was impaired during her duet with finalist Carly Rose Sonenclar on Wednesday. The singer was “in no way impaired,” and any awkwardness was from “trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song.” LeAnn, through her lawyer Larry Stein, said Carly was nervous and had difficulty with some of the notes, and she was doing her best to help her through it. Her performance seemed over-the-top to many, almost as if LeAnn were trying to upstage Carly, but her camp says people are reading too much into it. As the Kim Kardashian- Kris Humphries divorce case continues to drag on… and on… and on… a source tells In Touch Weekly that the reality star is considering legal action against the NBA power forward. “She has instructed her lawyer, Laura Wasser, to give Kris and his lawyers an ultimatum: Settle now or she will sue,” a friend claims to the tabloid, adding of potential attorney fees if Kardashian goes through with this threat: “[They] could cost Kris millions.” Humphries is seeking to annul his marriage to Kardashian, somehow arguing that he was duped into the union and is owed a ton of cash beyond the prenuptial agreement he signed. He apparently also wants the Kim Kardashian engagement ring back. “Kim will launch a counterattack for defamation of character,” this insider alleges. “You can’t put a price tag on what Kris has cost her.” Ummm… we’re pretty much we can. Kardashian just touched down in Kuwait because Millions of Milkshakes is paying her hundreds of thousands of dollars to pose for a few photos. We think she’s doing okay.

According to Celebuzz: Janet Jackson has fired off a legal letter to Vanity Fair Editor in Chief Graydon Carter, demanding the publication retract allegations suggesting the music superstar delayed her late brother Michael’s funeral over a financial dispute. In excerpts from Randall Sullivan‘s upcoming book, Untouchable: The Strange Life and Tragic Death of Michael Jackson — and published in the esteemed Condé Nast magazine — it was alleged that Janet, 46, had delayed her sibling’s funeral over money owed relating to the burial plot deposit. “The article states that, according to Untouchable, Ms Jackson put down a $40,000 deposit to secure a burial plot for Michael Jackson but refused to let the funeral take place until that money was repaid. This is untrue,” Janet’s attorney Blair G. Brown wrote in the letter sent on October 5 and obtained by Celebuzz. “Ms. Jackson never delayed the funeral in anyway. In fact, she paid for the funeral and was reimbursed for some of those expenses by Michael Jackson’s estate in the year after the services took place.” Jackson, via her lawyer, added: “In addition, there were other private costs associated with Michael Jackson’s passing that Ms. Jackson incurred and for which she has never sought reimbursement. To falsely accuse Ms. Jackson of holding up her brother’s funeral over money is outrageous. This story is particularly hurtful and distressing because of Ms. Jackson’s strong desire to serve her brother, whom she loved dearly, and she wishes to stand with and support her family.” Brown said the damage to Jackson’s reputation was “exacerbated” because the article was republished by numerous media outlets around the world. “I demand that Vanity Fair retract its statement that Ms. Jackson “refused” to let Michael Jackson’s funeral take place until the money she put down as a deposition on his burial plot was repaid,” the lawyer said. “To the extend that this statement appears in excerpts of Untouchable published in Vanity Fair’s November 2012 issue, I demand that Vanity Fair publish a retraction explaining that the statement is false.” Brown also claimed: “The article is replete with additional false and defamatory statement regarding Ms. Jackson.” We really hope none of this bull is true. We’re sure you remember Mirlande Wilson. Mirlande was the Baltimore McDonald’s employee who took 14 of her co-workers money to buy lottery tickets, claimed she actually won, and refused to give them their earnings. Well now, those 14 employees are pissed and suing this broad. Via Lottery Post: A group of 14 McDonald’s employees from the Baltimore, Maryland, area are still convinced they were winners in the massive $656 million Mega Millions jackpot drawing earlier this year — despite being told otherwise by lottery officials — and are claiming that a co-worker defrauded the Maryland Lottery to avoid sharing a payout with them. On Sept. 19, the group filed a civil lawsuit against their co-worker, Mirlande Wilson, a Westport woman who briefly gained celebrity status and international media attention in April after claiming to be the holder of a winning ticket purchased in Baltimore County. Two other winning tickets were purchased in Kansas and Illinois; each ticket was reportedly worth more than $100 million in cash after taxes. The group’s lawsuit says Wilson did buy a winning ticket as part of a lottery pool the co-workers were in and that she and her lawyer, Edward Smith Jr., orchestrated an elaborate ruse to recruit the educators and trick the Maryland Lottery into believing they had won rather than Wilson. One of the McDonald’s employees, Dominique Gourdet, claims in an affidavit filed in the case that when the lottery numbers were picked March 30, he was Wilson’s live-in boyfriend. Gourdet says Wilson told him multiple times that a ticket she’d purchased for the McDonald’s pool had won, and that she had shown him pictures of the winning ticket with the winning numbers on her phone. Gourdet also says Wilson told him that each of the three educators claiming to be the winners would be given $1 million for “helping” in the scheme, while Smith would receive $2 million. Gourdet’s affidavit claims Wilson told him “that she did not want to share the prize with others at work, particularly the Hispanic workers.” Reached on Friday, Wilson said she never had the ticket and the claims in the lawsuit are false. “It’s not true,” she said. “This is a baseless story.” Wilson declined to comment further. Carole Everett, a Maryland Lottery spokeswoman, laughed out loud after being told of the lawsuit, saying it sounded like wishful thinking from a group who had their hopes unfairly raised by Wilson in the first place. The “Three Amigos” are the true winners, Everett said. “It was verified,” she said. Everett said surveillance video from the Milford Mill 7-Eleven store where the Baltimore County ticket was purchased was reviewed by lottery officials, but she declined to further explain the lottery’s ticket verification and security measures. Because of the amount of the winnings, the Mega Millions winners were “scrutinized even more” than average lottery winners, Everett said. We hope they are paying actual money for the attorneys on this suit. SMH.
