Nari & Milani Lead For Miami Music Week Track Of The Week

While ‘Atom’ currently tops list, Porter Robinson and Martin Solveig weigh in on Bingo Players’ ‘awesome’ ‘Rattle.’ By Akshay Bhansali Photo: Opium Group After a weekend showdown that saw Knife Party fans edging “Internet Friends” just past initial leaders Nari & Milani , “Atom” fans have reclaimed the lead again in the Miami Music Week Track of the Week competition. Steve Angello must certainly be proud: Not only is a song from his Size Records label, slated for release later this week, in the lead, but Swedish House Mafia’s “Greyhound” currently has just under 15 percent of your votes and is holding firm at #3. Of course, the most popular song to come out of Miami is the topic of much discussion, for fans and artists alike, and MTV News was lucky enough to bump into a couple of your favorite EDM stars to have them weigh in. ” ‘Rattle,’ by Bingo Players , everyone is playing it,” Porter Robinson told MTV News in Miami. “I’m playing it as well. And this is by no means a criticism. These songs are getting played out so frequently because they have merit and because they are awesome.” “I heard the Bingo Players track ‘Rattle’ a lot!” Martin Solveig revealed to MTV News recently. “And it’s just an instrumental so it’s interesting, and it’s coming from artists that don’t have the exposure of the Swedes or David [Guetta].” Well, these two clearly have their favorite picked, but you the fans have until Thursday at midnight to cast your final vote for who wins Miami Music Week Track of the Week! Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons On Upset Alert In Musical March Madness

With first-round voting open until Sunday at midnight, a host of MMM favorites appear headed for an early exit … unless you vote them through. By James Montgomery Marcus Mumford Photo: Getty Images It’s been a wild opening week in the 2012 Musical March Madness tournament, with plenty of potential upsets in the works and even more allegations of voter fraud levied by angry Tokio Hotel fans (a yearly MMM tradition!) And while there’s still time to vote in all first-round matchups — polls close Sunday at midnight ET — as the week wraps up, we figured it was a good time to recap all the action: the shocking results, the 4chan-inspired chicanery and all the fierce, fan-driven mania that makes Musical March Madness tick. Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket! But first, let’s address the allegations lobbed by Tokio Hotel’s fervent fanbase. After jumping out to a huge lead over fifth-seeded Arcade Fire in their first-round matchup (something like 140,000 votes), TH’s supporters watched in abject horror as the Fire quickly closed the gap and eventually took the lead. Gains of this size don’t happen every day, so we started getting a lot of feedback from Tokio fans, most claiming that there was something fishy happening with the votes (of course, others just said we were part of a massive conspiracy against their beloved Kaulitz brothers). Since the integrity of MMM is our top priority, we investigated, and it turns out those fans were right. It seems some overzealous, web-savvy fans were helping swing things in Arcade Fire’s favor, writing scripts that repeatedly voted for AF … and we mean repeatedly (like 90,000 times each). And while that level of cheating was definitely inspired, well, it’s still cheating, so we scrubbed all the votes in question, and returned Tokio Hotel to their rightful lead. They’re up by some 200,000 votes at the moment, and appear a lock to advance to the second round. We’ll be monitoring things much closer from here on out, but, for the moment, all is right with the world. And please, let’s keep it clean, folks. Cheaters never win. Of course, there are still plenty of other eye-opening (and legitimate) results to discuss as the first round wraps up, perhaps none more shocking than the upset brewing in the East region, where top-seeded Mumford & Sons are on the verge of getting booted from the tourney by Canadian crushers F—ed Up (we see you, Damian!) Right now, it’s the underdogs in the lead by nearly 11,000 votes, and we’ll be watching to see if they can hold on to the lead. Mumford fans, you’ve got your work cut out for you if you want to keep your favorite band in the tourney, so get cracking. Things are looking equally grim for the West’s #1 seed, the Foo Fighters, who are getting absolutely blasted by #16 James Durbin. The “American Idol” bandanna enthusiast surged to the lead early in the week, and has yet to wilt beneath the Foos’ full-court press. Can he keep it up through Sunday? We’ll just have to wait and see, but it appears like Durbin may be bound for round two. Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket! And while both of those matchups are verging on blowouts, others are too close to call, and probably will remain that way until the last vote is counted. The West’s #3 seed, Blink-182, are getting all they can handle from #14 Korn, and the East’s #3, Florence and the Machine, are on the brink of getting booted by reunited Swedish vets Refused, who hold a slim (like 2,000 votes) lead. Also in the East, #6 Fun. fell behind #11 Semi Precious Weapons early, but have rallied, and now lead by roughly 1,000 votes. Oh, and there’s quite a battle brewing between Maroon 5 and upset-minded Lana Del Rey, who have been locked in a fierce back-and-forth all week. Right now, it’s Del Rey by less than 2,000 votes. Can she shock the world? We’ll be watching closely. And speaking of shocking the world, there’s a potential game-changer taking place in the East’s Coldplay/Arctic Monkeys tilt, where the Monkeys lead Chris Martin and company by just 200 votes. These two have been going back and forth all week, and this one seems destined to go down to the wire. And that’s fitting … like we said, it’s been a wild ride already. Is your favorite band on the ropes? Get voting. And check back Monday, when we reveal the 32 bands that will move one step closer to hoisting the big gold trophy on April 3. MTV’s 2012 Musical March Madness Tournament is under way! Voting in the first round runs until midnight ET on Sunday, March 18, and winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act made the cut, it’ll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM or by downloading one of our custom badges — but get ready, it’s gonna be a war! Related Videos Musical March Madness Returns! Is The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman Your New RoboCop?

These deals-in-the-making stories always carry a grain of salt since nothing in Hollywood is ever so sure just about until the cameras roll, but the trade scoop that The Killing ‘s Joel Kinnaman may be your next RoboCop is just too tantalizing. Joel Kinnaman who , you may ask, and rightly so? The Swedish-American actor’s been in a handful of stateside film projects here and there (including the recent Safe House and, briefly, Fincher’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ) but the closer I look at his work, the more enticing this casting move becomes. According to a Tweet by Variety’s Jeff Sneider (also confirmed by Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter ), Kinnaman has been offered the lead in Jose Padilha’s reboot of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi pic. “Dealmaking is expected to begin imminently,” writes THR’s Boris Kit, whatever that really means. In any case, it’s the first solid movement on a RoboCop lead since those Michael Fassbender fantasy rumors were waved away by the secretive Padilha. Kinnaman’s not an obvious choice to headline a high profile franchise reboot, but he’s been dancing on the cusp of breakout status for a few years. The 32-year-old Kinnaman got his start in Swedish film, most notably taking the lead in Daniel Espinosa’s crime adaptation Easy Money (AKA Snabba Cash ), based on Jens Lapidus’s novel; the film is being released in the U.S. on July 27 and will be remade in English with Zac Efron , while a Kinnaman-starring sequel, Snabba Cash II , is set for release in Sweden in 2012. According to the Swedish website Ostran.se , Kinnaman was once up for the leads in both Thor and Mad Max 4 (the roles went to Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hardy, respectively), so Hollywood filmmakers have already been looking at him to carry a major studio release. But while he’s obviously pretty easy on the eyes, it’s his screen presence — whether speaking English and Swedish — that’s impressed me the most. Take a look at Kinnaman below and weigh in: Is there cause to be excited if this is indeed your new RoboCop? Justin Bieber, Far East Movement Drop Fist-Pumping ‘Live My Life’

The RedOne-produced party anthem is the lead single off FEM’s Dirty Bass. By Jocelyn Vena Far East Movement and Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images Justin Bieber ‘s track with Far East Movement dropped Friday (February 24), a few days earlier than expected. “Live My Life,” which officially hits iTunes on Tuesday, is the lead single off FEM’s new album, Dirty Bass. It feels like Bieber is taking a page from the Usher playbook by hooking up with the dance party-minded production team. The club thumper pays homage to tracks that Usher has made with David Guetta and will.i.am, for instance. The feel-good song is grinding and a little dirty. For Bieber’s part, he sings the hook, proclaiming, “I’m gonna live my life/ No matter what/ We party tonight/ I’m gonna live, live, live my life/ I know that we gonna be all right.” He then throws in the good-old dance floor chant “woo woo woo” for good measure. “We’re thrilled to have Justin be a part of Dirty Bass, ” rapper Kev Nish told RollingStone.com about the club-busting collaboration. “Far East Movement has always focused on unexpected collaborations and mashing up musical genres, which keeps making music exciting. ‘Live My Life’ is a song we think both Far East Movement and Bieber fans will enjoy together.” The team also worked with LMFAO’s RedFoo on a remix of the swirling party track. And, in case you’re wondering how the guys in FEM know Bieber, well, apparently Snoop Dogg introduced them at an awards show last year. The track’s producer, RedOne, described the song as “a smash,” before he spoke a bit more about the song and hitting the studio with the boys. He added, “And Justin sang the chorus. It’s a really good song, and I think people are gonna dance like crazy to it.” What do you think of “Live My Life”? Leave your comment below! You Can’t Be Serious: Rick Perry Makes A Damn Fool Of Himself Once Again!!

And another one… The flubs keep on coming. In yet another campaign day marred by a slip-up, Texas Gov. Rick Perry produced headlines today during an important editorial board interview with the Des Moines Register — not for his impassioned defense of a controversial new TV ad about his faith, but instead for a mealy-mouthed screw up. “Montemayor?” he said, struggling to name one of the nine Supreme Court justices. He went on to blast the court as “eight unelected and frankly unaccountable judges. ” There are nine. Since his infamous inability to remember the third of three government agencies he’d eliminate during the CNBC debate in Michigan last month, Perry’s every verbal pratfall has offered the lead paragraph in news stories and the lead joke in late-night comedy shows. Mistakes that might be downplayed from more consistently articulate candidates get spotlight treatment for the Texas pol, whose “swagger” narrative deteriorated quickly as his gaffes grew more and more frequent. Friday’s torrent of “Brain Freeze Again?” headlines was reminiscent of those after a recent campaign stop in New Hampshire, where Perry’s pitch to repair his damaged credentials on border security were derailed by a numerical mixup. “Those of you that will be 21 by November the 12th, I ask for your support and your vote,” he declared to titters from those who recognized the voting age error. (Oh, and the election isn’t on the 12th.) Trying to correct for the bungle, Perry took to the TV airwaves to discuss his efforts to perform well in the “New Hampshire caucuses.” They’re primaries.
