Zendaya Coleman is all about keeping it real. The young actress, who has never been afraid to speak her mind , has taken issue with the latest issue of Modeliste. The 19-year old jumped on Instagram early Wednesday to call out the publication for running an edited picture of her inside its cover this month. “Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated,” Zendaya wrote, posting side-by-side comparisons of the two images. The one on the right, above, is the original version; the one on the left has been Photoshopped. “These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have,” Zendaya added. “Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love.” The magazine actually replied to Zendaya’s criticism and removed the pictures, prompting Coleman to write in response: “Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue.” Zendaya, of course, found herself at the center of another fashion-related scandal back when she wore her hair in braids on the Academy Awards red carpet… and Giuliana Rancic took issue with the look .
Over a decade later, Chris Rock is ready to run it back. The comedian and actor has confirmed that he’ll host the 2016 Academy Awards. “I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars,” the 50-year-old, who also emceed the 2005 ceremony, said in a simple statement. “It’s great to be back.” Added David Hill & Reginald Hudlin, who will produce the event: “Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry. Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian – he’s done it all. “He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!” The 2016 Academy Awards will air on February 28 from Los Angeles. Rock also shared the photo above on Twitter, writing as a caption: “Look who’s back. #Oscars.” Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 2014 Oscars, with Rock now joining a list of other previous hosts that include Billy Crystal, Jon Stewart, David Letterman and Ellen DeGeneres.
Neil Patrick Harris will soon be able to add yet another hosting gig to his very impressive resume. The former How I Met Your Mother star – who has previously emceed the Tony Awards and the Emmy Awards, while also having taken home trophies at both those events – has been tapped to host the 2015 Academy Awards. The show will air live on ABC on Sunday, February 22. “It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards,” Harris said via statement. “I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. “To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.” As multi-talented a performer as exists in Hollywood, Harris portrays the character of Desi in Gone Girl . Look at Bar Refaeli being funny. I guess it’s her Jewish sense of Comedy…. You know, a real Gary Shandling or Mel Brooks, Joan Rivers or Groucho Marx, Billy Crystal or Jackie Mason, Gilda Radner or Bette Midler, Woody Allen or Adam Sandler, Seinfeld or Larry David, Gilfred Godfrey or Bob Sagget, you get what I am saying here, Jewish people are funny, but for some reason, this joke is less about making me laugh and more about being totally erotic. Anything that involves a bitch in a men’s washroom at a bar or club, whether she’s getting gang banged, or throat fucked, or simulating pissing in a urinal or actually pissing in a urinal, excites me, but then again, sluts excite me, especially when pissing even if they pretend it’s squirt, like the old lady I saw in slutty clothes with a wet spot on her skirt the other day, now I don’t like old ladies, but I do like leaks in their vagina area. Here’s a thick bitch clowning…
Tuesday night, the New York Film Festival hosted something that is likely a rarified event in the usually hallowed theater venues at Lincoln Center – a boisterous and rowdy crowd. But the event probably landed itself to the culture shift. The occasion was the 25th anniversary of The Princess Bride and a good chunk of the living cast showed up, including Robin Wright , Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn and Billy Crystal in addition to director Rob Reiner as well as author William Goldman. Random shouts of “meathead” could be heard from the audience – all loving of course – when Reiner was introduced on stage as first coming to prominence as Michael Stivic in 1970s television show All in the Family . The Princess Bride was also likened to The Wizard of Oz (1939) – something Reiner fully embraced. Reiner recalled that when Princess Bride first went into release, a trailer had not been made a week before its roll out, nor had a one-sheet been created to describe the film. “Like ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the time, the studios weren’t sure how to market this kind of a film,” said Reiner. “And similar to [that movie] it didn’t do [very well] when it first came out.” Released in September, 1987, the film had a strong showing in nine theaters in its initial run, but its overall theatrical run (nearly $31 million) apparently disappointed, but it has lived on as a cult favorite and the audience at Lincoln Center talked back to the screen in something akin to watching The Little Shop of Horrors (which incidentally also played at NYFF last weekend). Reiner’s father met William Goldman in 1968 while working on a book about Broadway that year. Reiner’s father had coincidentally just created a play running in New York. While still in his 20s, his dad gave him the novel The Princess Bride to read and, as might be expected, fell in love with it. “I was monster fan of everything [Goldman] had written,” he said. “My dad gave me the book and I couldn’t believe how incredible this book was. What a high degree of difficulty to do an adventure, romance, satire and make it all work. I thought it was the most incredible thing I’d read in my whole life.” Years later, after getting his lauded This is Spinal Tap and Stand by Me under his belt, Reiner thought about The Princess Bride . “So, many years go by and I had made some movies and I thought naively, ‘well they make movies out of books and my favorite book is The Princess Bride .’ So as a totally naive person, I thought I’ll see if someone has tried to do this. I found out the Truffaut had tried.” Eventually, he decided to go for it and ask the two-time Oscar winning writer if he could take on The Princess Bride . “I went to meet with him at his place in [New York] and he opened the door and said, ‘ The Princess Bride is my favorite thing I’ve ever written in my life – I want it on my tombstone. What are you going to do with it?'” Goldman did give his blessing that night. Newcomer at the time Robin Wright was cast the title character (aka Buttercup) opposite Cary Elwes, the man of her dreams (who she does some of that kissing with). The fairy tale aspect of the story came as a bit of a surprise for Wright who had not read the book by the time she departed for the set in England, but was taken aback by the fantasy element that rides through the story. When I read the script, I noticed all the stage direction which had things like lightning, sand, thunder, giant rodents and fire. I thought, ‘Oh we’re just going to do the dialog, I didn’t believe all that other stuff,” Wright said at Lincoln Center. “I went to England and had never read the book, thinking all that stage direction B.S. was just that. And then I had to put on my accent and there were attacking eels and all this stuff. It was just insane.”

Are there monsters in your closet? That is the question posed in this teaser trailer for Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University . But that is probably the most chilling thing here and perhaps in the movie itself. For these critters are headed for college (though that is certainly a scary and exciting prospect for anyone). Starring Steve Buscemi, John Goodman, Kelsey Grammar and Billy Crystal along with a host of others, the animated adventure-comedy revolves around Mike and Sulley during their enrollment at the “University of Fear.” The snippet, just over a minute long, includes a great little party scene in what appears to be a dorm – and its aftermath, which most university students can – uh – imagine. The pic, which is prequel to Monsters is slated for next Summer, but get a jump on it here.
I mean, of all the things bringing down that Oscar intro, Twitter jumped on this ? “‘I am 100 percent certain that my father is smiling. Billy previously played my father when he was alive, and my father gave Billy his full blessing,’ she continues, noting that Saturday Night Live gave the imitation ‘legendary status.’ [… Tracey] Davis, now 50, does however take issue with using the word ‘blackface,’ attributing the term born in the 1800s to describe white actors in makeup playing black characters, to early film stars such as Al Jolson, not Crystal, per se.” [ THR ]
Any great awards show monologue skewers the nominees and sets the tone for the festivities to come, and this weekend’s awards tour didn’t disappoint — if you were watching the Film Independent Spirit Awards and not the Oscars, that is. Host Seth Rogen trumped Billy Crystal the day before the Academy Awards when he roasted Hollywood’s brightest along with Spirit Award nominees (like “creepy” — and apparently good humored — Michael Shannon). As for Rogen’s best joke? It’s got to be a toss up between his Ratner snipe (“Without awards season we wouldn’t know how much of a horrible bigot Brett Ratner is”) and his Lars von Trier hiding-in-Argentina bit.
