Band sends out prayers for ‘peace and healing’ families of five killed and dozens injured in Saturday’s stage collapse. By Jocelyn Vena Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles (file) Photo: Rick Diamond/ Getty Images Following last Saturday’s stage collapse before their scheduled concert at the Indiana State Fair , Sugarland have announced they will hold a memorial to honor the five killed and dozens injured in the accident. The band announced on their website that they are working on a memorial. “We are in the process of planning a private memorial in Indiana to honor those fans who died. We would first like to hold space so that their families can have time to go through their own services and memorials. Until that time we are holding vigil for them,” they wrote. “We join them on their mourning benches. And we stand in the gap asking God to offer them peace and healing. For those suffering from injury we hold you up with prayers for complete healing of your own.” In addition to their plans to honor those lost and injured, Sugarland also announced they will resume their tour later this week. “We are also addressing our own specific healing,” the statement continues. “Our road family experienced its traumas together. While we all scattered to our given families for their comfort, the trauma we experienced together binds us in a unique way that we share only with each other, and those who were there. There is healing in our being together. There is healing in our working together. For this reason we are planning to get back on the road this weekend, beginning with our scheduled show in Albuquerque this Thursday, August 18th. The emotions have us yearning to be close to each other immediately. The logistics have us needing to replace all of our instruments and equipment. (The set is a loss that is insignificant in light of the tragedy.)” A memorial service was held on Monday at the fairgrounds where the accident took place. According to USAToday.com , 500 people attended the service, including Governor Mitch Daniels. The website for the fair, which reopened on Monday, announced that some shows, like the Train/Maroon 5 show, have been moved elsewhere on site, while Janet Jackson’s and Lady Antebellum’s performances have been canceled all together. Michael Jackson Estate Threatens Legal Action Over Tribute Concert

By Gil Kaufman Michael Jackson in the video for “Hold My Hand” Photo: Sony Music Entertainment Several weeks after announcing their intention to celebrate the life of Michael Jackson with an all-star concert called “Michael Jackson Forever,” the initial lineup for the October 8 show at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, was revealed last week. According to promoters, the Michael Forever show is slated to feature such stars as Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Motown legend Smokey Robinson, in addition to less globally popular talents, including Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lott, Leona Lewis, JLS, Craig David, Alien Ant Farm and a pair of Jackson-related groups, 3T and the Jackson Brothers. The one thing the event does not have, however, is the approval of Jackson’s powerful estate, which had kept silent about the show put together by parents Joseph and Katherine Jackson, along with siblings Jackie, Tito, Marlon, LaToya and Rebbie. Brothers Jermaine and Randy have not been involved in the plans and have publicly objected to the event because it falls in the middle of the involuntary manslaughter trial of Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray. On Tuesday (August 16) a spokesperson for the estate — which has handled all of Jackson’s affairs since his 2009 death — confirmed that estate lawyer Howard Weitzman sent a letter to concert organizers last week raising some pointed questions about the show. “I represent the Executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson. As the legal caretakers of Michael’s intellectual property, we believe it is our duty to contact you directly regarding the growing number of questions that have been addressed to the Estate, as well as multiple concerns that have emerged in recent days,” reads the letter. After reminding organizers that the estate is the only entity that can sign off on the use of Jackson’s image or his intellectual property — the concert’s website is careful not to feature any images of the singer or samples of his music — the letter said the estate was “especially disappointed” by the announcement on Monday that greasepaint rockers Kiss have been added to the bill. Specifically, the beef was that outspoken Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has made a number of disparaging comments about Jackson in the past. “It was extraordinarily embarrassing when no sooner had you announced this ‘news’ that [Simmons] would participate in your concert that TMZ posted an item noting that Mr. Simmons called Michael Jackson … a child molester, notwithstanding the fact that Michael was acquitted by a jury,” read the letter. Jackson fansite MJ4Justice was flooded with negative comments about the addition of Kiss, announced on Monday by Katherine Jackson on CNN, and has called for a boycott of the show. The concert’s Facebook page has also been inundated with concerns over the booking of Kiss. And the complaints worked. On Tuesday, the concert’s promoter, Global Live Events, canceled Kiss’ “invitation” to appear in the show. “We have listened to Michael’s fans and are grateful to have been alerted to these unfortunate statements by Gene Simmons,” CEO Chris Hunt said in a statement. “Under the circumstances we fully agree that even though Kiss is a band Michael admired we have no choice but to rescind our invitation to them to appear in our tribute concert. We offer our sincerest apologies to Mrs. Jackson and the family for this oversight — our primary concern must be to do justice to Michael’s memory, and to put on a tribute that the family and the fans will find suitable and fit for a King, our

By Rob Markman Jadakiss and Styles P Photo: MTV News When the LOX dropped their last album, We Are the Streets, the world had just finished breathing a collective sigh of relief, thankful that their computers didn’t crash in the Y2K scare. Not that the Yonkers, New York, rap trio made up of Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch haven’t been busy dropping solo albums and mixtapes over the past 11 years. “Paperwork, paperwork, it ain’t on us. All I’m gonna say is, LOX-wise, you hear how many verses we do, freestyles we do, songs we do, LOX songs we drop here and there,” Styles P said about the group’s long-awaited third album . “Due to common sense, it’s paperwork. When the paperwork pans out, you got LOX. That’s all I’m gonna say. We would’ve been gave y’all LOX.” The LOX got their start on Diddy’s Bad Boy Records in 1997 after they dropped their debut single, “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa.” The song stood as a dedication to the Notorious B.I.G. after he was murdered earlier that year. In 1998, the group dropped their debut album, Money, Power, Respect, but soon after, they became disgruntled with their label and organized a “Let the LOX Go” campaign to be let out of their Bad Boy contract. Diddy eventually obliged , and the threesome dropped their sophomore album on Ruff Ryders in 2000. Aside from the group effort, each member dropped a number of solo albums on various labels, leaving entangled contracts that are now getting sorted out. “It’s a lot of heads involved with the new LOX album. You got Ruff Ryders, you got Bad Boy, you got Interscope. It’s a lot of politics in one set of paperwork, but it’s gettin’ close,” Styles said. If Dr. Dre’s Detox is rap’s longest-delayed LP, then the LOX aren’t far behind. Jada and P are amused at the comparison. “Nah, we ain’t longer than Detox. We close! We right behind it; we ain’t neck and neck, though,” Styles said, laughing at the notion that his group could eclipse Dre’s drought if the producer’s album is dropped this year as planned. Jadakiss begged to differ, starting a little debate with his rhyme partner. “We passed Detox, ” ‘Kiss proclaimed. “Nah, they said Detox was coming in ’99,” Styles argued. Despite common misconceptions based on the album’s title, it was 1999 when Dre dropped his 2001 LP. Work on his third album was said to have started in 2003 , but details are sketchy. Jada suggests a joint Dr. Dre and LOX album release to satisfy the fan’s demand. “We need to do a double album: the Detox and the new LOX album,” he joked. After a few laughs, Jada got serious and said the group was close to a breakthrough in the legal holdups, but he wouldn’t nail down a specific label where the album would be released. “Big shout-out to J Records, Geffen Records, Atlantic, Warner,” he said. “Big shout-out to all of these labels.” What are you expecting from new LOX music? Another Day, Another DUI: Brazilian Model Suelyn Medeiros Popped For Driving While Intoxicated

SMH at this broad “bragging about being a rich model” but can’t pay the 45K: Via TMZ. .. Law enforcement tells TMZ, model SueLyn Medeiros — we strongly recommend Googling her — was pulled over last night in Hollywood after colliding with a parked car, and when she opened her DeLorean’s gull-wing door, cops caught a “strong odor” of alcohol. Police administered a field sobriety test — and Medeiros, who had been driving with Claudia in the car, laughs the entire way through, prancing around barefoot … needless to say, cops weren’t impressed. Medeiros then blew a .14 — nearly twice the legal limit in California — and was placed under arrest. According to law enforcement, Medeiros bragged incessantly about being a rich model, and was extremely flirtatious with the officers. Medeiros is still in custody on $45,000 bail. As for the high bail amount, we’re told she had an unrelated warrant out for her arrest … but it’s unclear why. SMH again at the warrant…WTF is this chick into??? 45K is pretty hefty for DUI.

Embattled rapper DMX has responded to the latest news about his extended incarceration in an Arizona jail.  Through his manager Nakia Walker, who has been working with the hip-hop legend to try and resuscitate his career since 2007, DMX exclusively revealed to TheUrbanDaily.com an impressive list of deals he has waiting for him once he gets released from Yuma State prison. “Earl has a new album about to be released, a new video game, touring opportunities, even a new reality show,” says Ms. Walker, the CEO of Built For War Management.  “He is signed to United Music & Media , a division of WEA, the videogame prototype was done by Mojo Bone Studios, and as soon as he gets out, I have a production crew who will fly out to Arizona ready to begin production on his new TV series. There are millions of dollars on the table for him…” Walker says DMX has been working on the album over the past year while in and out of jail and that the record is 85% complete. “Swizz Beatz and Dame Grease have produced it. Scott Storch and Tyrese have also been involved.”  The lead single, “Y’all Don’t Really Know” is produced by Swizz and features Busta Rhymes. Walker fears many of these plans will be on hold however, until X can get clear of his legal issues. “It’s likely DMX will remain incarcerated until August 25, but he may also face additional charges. The couple is determined to keep their divorce amicable, with both Arnold and Maria getting joint custody of their two minor children, both teens. The proximity of the two homes will make shared custody easier. Maria’s purchase has not been finalized yet but reports say it will close soon. Casey Anthony to Be Sued By "Zanny the Nanny"

Casey Anthony’s release from jail July 13 won’t necessarily mean the end of her legal problems. The accused murderer may be sued in a civil case. Attorney John Morgan, who represents Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, has filed a subpoena to question Casey and served her at Orange County Jail. Gonzalez claims she can’t find work and was ostracized after Anthony told police officials that a woman with the same name kidnapped her daughter. Investigators quickly established that Gonzalez had nothing to do with the case and Casey’s babysitter “Zanny the Nanny” was a total fabrication. Anthony was sentenced to four years in prison for lies to police like that one, but having served almost all of that already, will go free next week. In any case, Gonzalez is seeking $15,000 in damages for damages to her reputation, loss of job, humiliation and distress brought by Anthony. The worst part for Anthony is the possibility of being forced to testify at trial and questioned under oath, which she did not at her murder trial. While Anthony was acquitted of murder, questions potentially asked during a defamation suit against her could prove very difficult to answer. The subpoena demands Anthony appear at Morgan’s Florida office July 19 at 10 a.m. for a deposition, where she will be questioned under oath. Casey is officially broke, but stands to make a fortune from interviews, photographs plus film and book rights , after her sensational acquittal. On the flip side, she owes investigative and court costs associated with earlier check-fraud convictions – and likely a fortune for her murder defense. In short, you haven’t heard the last of her by a longs hot.

News broke on Tuesday that Casey Anthony was acquitted on all felony charges in the death of her 2-year-daughter including capitol murder, which carried the death penalty. Surprisingly, the only charge that stuck was the misdemeanor of lying to a law enforcement officer. Unfortunately, nobody is answering for  Caylee Anthony but whatever side of the fence you are on with this case one thing is for sure, Casey Anthony is a free woman because of her defense lawyer Jose Baez, a 42-year-old Latino described by the Miami Herald as “a former bikini salesman, high school dropout and deadbeat dad who barely made it into the Florida bar”.
