Source: Maria Aufmuth / Getty Serena Williams Reveals She Struggles With Self-Doubts As A Mom Serena Williams was one of several speakers at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women where she talked motherhood , disparities in health outcomes between black and white moms, and more. You’ll recall Serena nearly died after giving birth to her adorable daughter, Alexis Olympia . In an article written for CNN back in February, she revealed: “First my C-section wound popped open due to the intense coughing I endured as a result of the embolism. I returned to surgery, where the doctors found a large hematoma, a swelling of clotted blood, in my abdomen. And then I returned to the operating room for a procedure that prevents clots from traveling to my lungs.” At the time, Serena also spoke about Black moms-to-be not getting proper care: “According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, black women in the United States are over three times more likely to die from pregnancy or childbirth-related causes. But this is not just a challenge in the United States. Around the world, thousands of women struggle to give birth in the poorest countries. When they have complications like mine, there are often no drugs, health facilities or doctors to save them. If they don’t want to give birth at home, they have to travel great distances at the height of pregnancy.” Now, according to The Philly Voice , she told some 10,000 women on Friday: “I did some research and I was alarmed that our black mothers are not being taken care of. It’s in this country that is supposed to be so technologically advanced. Why are we treating out mothers like this?” Adding, “It’s really unacceptable…I feel like if I can help save lives—that’s one of the best things that you can do.” Source: Gilbert Carrasquillo / WireImage / Getty In the process of gushing about how supportive her husband, Alexis Ohanian , has been, Serena also told the crowd she has some insecurities: “I always have these insecurities that I’m not good enough as a mom. We all go through these different emotions that we all don’t feel comfortable talking about. But I think we should.” You’ve got to love her.

Woah: Woman Is Caught On Video Falling To Her Death While Taking A Selfie

RODRIGO ARANGUA/AFP/Getty Images Friends And Family Are Left In Shock A woman in Panama City met a tragic end when she tried to take a selfie on a balcony. According to Metro , 44-year-old Sandra Manuela Da Costa Macedo was trying to take a selfie on the 27th-floor balcony of a building last Friday. Police sources say a gust of wind must have knocked Macedo off balance and she fell to her death with her selfie stick still in hand. Nearby, construction workers filmed the whole incident, worried that Macedo would fall during her photo session. You can check out the distressing video they filmed here . Macedo, who is said to be a teacher and mom of two, had just moved to Panama City from Portugal. Friends and acquaintances posted tributes to her online when news hit of her tragic death. Erick Alzate, a witness who lives on the same block the incident took place, gave more insight into the tragedy. “She had been taking selfies for a couple of minutes and construction workers on a block opposite were shouting to her to be careful,” said Alzate. “She decided to sit on the railing for the last selfie and that’s when she went over the edge.” Many of the reactions on social media ranged from condolences to disappointment, according to Metro . One person wrote, “Rest in peace. Such a stupid way to die,” while a Jose Guillermo wrote, “Peace for her soul and strength for her family.” Maria del Carmen wrote, “Such a tragedy that such a beautiful lady like you loses their life this way. My sincere condolences for your loved ones.” After Macedo’s tragic incident, Panama’s Fire Service posted a warning on its official Twitter page which said, “Don’t risk your life for a selfie. It’s more important to lose a minute in life than your life in a minute.”

Jaap Arriens/NurPhoto via Getty Images White Passenger Calls Cops On Black Lyft Driver For “Racial Profiling” A  Trump  supporter berated his Lyft driver with the N word, and has since been fired from his job after a video of the harassment went completely viral. Buckle your seatbelts for this one, y’all…. The Lyft driver, Shawn Pepas Lettman, calmly filmed the 16-minute lashing out by passenger Robert Ortiz and his two friends, who called the New York City Police after Lettman refused to turn on the radio. “I feel racially profiled … because I’m not black,” Ortiz told the 911 operator. He later adds, “If this guy does anything to threaten my life, I have to defend myself. … I’m a little fearful.” The passenger then proceeds to get the phone with Lyft. “Maybe because I’m not black … I was charged $8.01 for just asking for music,” said Ortiz, while threatening to file a lawsuit against the company. “I came out of a gay club and your driver is racist against gay people,” Ortiz rants, adding, “I know my legal rights as an American citizen that voted for Trump…” Ortiz also calls the Lyft operator, “a piece of s***.”  In another video call to a friend, Ortiz uses the N word multiple times to describe Lettman. Ortiz then accuses Lettman of illegally filming him and says, “So, I’m going to make sure, while you’re recording this, that you never have a job as a Lyft driver again.” When the driver finally speaks, he points to a sign in his car that states passengers will be recorded, to which Ortiz threatens to “make your night a living hell.” Ortiz continues to dig himself into a deeper hole, yelling about, “All that Black Lives Matter is bulls***.” He calls the police again while refusing to leave the car. “I bet you if I was black — and Black Lives Matter,” he spits, “he would have put the music on. F*** Black Lives Matter — every life matters … all I asked for was music.” Following their publishing of the story, a representative from Lyft sent a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle : “The behavior exhibited in the video is deeply concerning. Lyft is committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming community and discriminatory behavior is unacceptable. We temporarily deactivated both passenger and driver accounts while we investigated the situation. After reviewing all sides, we reactivated Mr. Lettman’s account within hours and permanently disabled the passenger account. We have also reached out to Mr. Lettman to express our support.” Lettman explained that after he stopped recording, he called the police in fear of his own safety. “I didn’t ask for this nor did I want this,” he wrote. “I know America is better than this and despite the hate, we have to deal with from a few, my heart tells me, the world is mostly good.” On Thursday, Ortiz’s former employer, medical clinic CityMD, wrote in a  Facebook comment , “This is to confirm that this individual was terminated and is no longer employed by or affiliated with CityMD in any capacity.” You can watch the video from the absolutely insane incident below.

Paul Bernon: Dating Bethenny Frankel!

It was only days ago that Bethenny Frankel confessed to accidentally texting her late boyfriend . Sometimes, letting go of a lost loved one is impossible. Fortunately, it looks like Bethenny is finally managing to move on — with a new man in her life. But who is her new man, Paul Bernon? TMZ reports that Bethenny Frankel was recently spotted holding hands with what was initially a mystery man. Bethenny was spending time in Boston, and she was spotted holding hands with and then kissing a taller gentleman by the name of Paul Bernon. TMZ noted that their PDA included a makeout session near Boston College, which sounds like as good a place as any. (If you’re determined to kiss while in public, that is) It is, of course, wonderful to see Bethenny moving on with her life after this summer’s heartbreak. But … who is this dude? Paul Bernon is a businessman and film guru. He has two degrees. Paul obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies at the very same Boston University where he (almot) was for his PDA with Bethenny. He earned his Masters degree in Real Estate at New York University. Needless to say, those are two very different fields of study. Paul is a cofounder and partner in a Los Angeles.-based film finance and production company, Burn Later. His films include Drinking Buddies , whch starred Olivia Wilde and Anna Kendrick. Another film, Best Kept Secret , earned him a Peabody Award. Many people know of Paul as a filmmaker and aren’t even aware of his other ventures. But when we say that he’s a businessman, we’re not kidding. It is reported that Paul obtained his first shopping center by the age of 24. He is currently a managing partner for Rubicon Real Estate, LLC. Rubicon Real Estate  owns and manages various investment properties in New England, Texas, and Utah. Speaking of New England, he resides within the greater Boston area. It seems likely that Bethenny may have been in town especially to see him. Paul is active politically, and is a member of the National Finance Committee of the Democratic National Committee. What’s more exciting is that he is a board member as well as a co-founder of the Creative Council at EMILY’s List. (EMILY’s List is a wonderful political organization and it’s especially encouraging that he lends his efforts to a pro-women group) Us Weekly reports that Paul shares two children with his ex-wife. Paul and Ashley Bernon divorced in September of 2017. It looks like Bethenny isn’t the only one in the relationship who might be said to be “moving on.” It is wonderful to hear that Bethenny is taking this careful next step in her life, two months after such a tragic loss. Perhaps she has found closure in the death of her late on-again, off-again boyfriend, Dennis Shields. Even though his death was officially ruled inconclusive , his loved ones seem to have accepted that this was a tragic drug-related death, whether an overdose or interaction. Now, they are all healing in their own ways. That Bethenny is dating again is not a sign that she loved him any less. Finding new joy is what any good person would want for their loved ones. BREAKING: Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Suck at Baseball

Kim Kardashian has hit many home runs in her life… … off the field, we mean. As in: she's slept with her fair share of men. Many of these men have eveb been professional athletes, but it's notable that none has played baseball. Why is this notable? Because Kim and her mother will play a random pickup game of that sport on this Sunday's brand new episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians… and it will not go well. As practice for an upcoming softball game, Kim, Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian trudge out to a diamond in the clip featured on this page in order to try pitching and hitting. A pregnant Khloe stands on the sideline and offers her loved ones advice. But it falls on deaf and untalented ears. “Is this the mound?” a confused Kim asks her sister. “No, the mound is there,” Khloe responds. “That would be the pitcher's mound.” (Editor's Note: This is patently absurd. We don't care how little baseball you watch; you know from where a pitcher pitches.) “The first softball practice is terrifying,” Khloe later says in a confessional. “It's just chickens with their head cut off running around this field. It's not good.” After Kim finally gets a hold of a Kris offering and runs to first base, it's time for Jenner to grab a bat and for Kim to take the aforementioned mound. Upon attempting to hit her first pitch, however, Kris wobbles backward and falls to the ground. “Oh my god, are you okay?” Kim asks as she rushes to her mother's side. “Oh my god, did you hurt your wrist?” Yes, Kris claims. And it actually is possible. As scripted and as dumb as this entire scene is, we're not sure if Jenner is a decent enough of an actress to fake this fall. It looks pretty legit! Hailey Baldwin is Being Blamed for Selena Gomez’s Hospitalization Because People Suck

Selena Gomez is in need of your prayers at the moment. But instead of wishing the singer well during an especially difficult time for her, many dumb people on the Internet are instead wishing Hailey Baldwin ill. The dots here are not hard to connect. But they’re still sad and upsetting to consider. Gomez, as previously reported on The Hollywood Gossip, agreed this week to another trip to rehab . She had been hospitalized twice over the past month or so due to a low white blood cell count, which is a common ailment that results when one has Lupus. According to TMZ, however, Gomez suffered what a source described as an “emotional breakdown” during this second hospitalization, as she was basically sick of being sick. Shortly afterward, she checked into an East Coast psychiatric facility, at which she’s receiving dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) meant to identify and change negative thought/behavioral patterns. Selena, of course, has been battling mental health issues for five years. She recently admitted as much in a moving Instagram video that announced a hiatus from social media . Despite this well-documented history of suffering from serious illness, a handful of Internet users out there simply assume Gomez is all sad and in need of help because her ex-boyfriend is engaged. This ex-boyfriend is Justin Bieber. And this fiancee is Hailey Baldwin. And the latter is now receiving death threats and hearing harsh criticism from those who blame her for Selena’s ongoing problems. “Hey, Selena in hospitalized. Be ready Justin will drop you anytime soon for his real love Selena Gomez. Your time will coming,” wrote one angry person on Instagram. Added another: “So sad that youre [sic] always the second choice.” As you can see from some other examples below, these are not isolated incidents. Lots of dumb and cruel trolls out there really are targeting Baldwin in response to Gomez seeking a new round of professional treatment. This is very dangerous and just plain stupid. Selena admittedly has a mental illness. She has Depression with a capital D. She isn’t just sad for some short period of time because an old flame has moved on with a new woman. Not only is the above line of thinking, as represented in these comments, mean to Baldwin and unecessarily inflammatory — they are disrespectful to those who suffer as Selena does. Depression is a sickness. It can maybe be triggered by outside events at some, but it is always present and it can’t be blamed on anyone; not the person who has it and not the actions of any third party. It’s silly and ignorant to think otherwise. Many times over the past few months, sources have said that Gomez is actually doing just fine in the wake of Bieber’s engagement.  She hasn’t been moping all around time, thinking her life is over. She knows she can do a lot better! So, instead of directing any wrath at Baldwin or writing cruel remarks on social media, please take a deep breath here, folks. Samantha Markle Confesses: I Want to Get Rich By Trashing Meghan!

It’s been almost five months since Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, and thus far, the marriage has been as devoid of drama as most royal unions (sadly, the Fergies of the world are the exception, not the rule). Fortunately, Meghan’s awful family has provided plenty of unintentional entertainment as they attempt to cash in on their tenuous ties to the throne. Half-sister Samantha Markle has been doing her best to humiliate Meghan since before her engagement was announced, and at first, some folks gave her the benefit of the doubt. With the possible exception of obsessive Suits most folks didn’t know much about Meghan’s personal life, and thus, certain media outlets ate up Sam’s accounts of a spoiled, selfish princess-in-training. It’s not like any of those traits are hugely uncommon amongst C-list actresses. But as we learned more about both Meghan and Samantha, a clearer picture began to emerge. Samantha was a failed actress (with a one-time appearance on freakin’ Matlock as her sole IMDb credit), who had been spent most of her life consumed with jealousy toward her more successful little sister. Even Samantha’s mother sided with Meghan and admitted that Sam’s been a thorn in her sibling’s side for quite some time: “Samantha has been dogging her for years,” she said of her daughter. “Everything she has said about her is a lie.” Despite Samantha having been thoroughly discredited (we now know she had zero contact with Meghan for more than a decade before the royal wedding), the 53-year-old remains a fixture on the British media circuit. And as E! News points out, Sam has finally admitted that her main goal in slandering her sister is to get rich by riding Meg’s coattails. “Let’s face it—we all have to survive,” Samantha said in a recent interview. “Money makes the world go round, so if you want to call that cashing in, that’s fine, but I think no one in media would refuse a paycheck for talking about the royals and, as a family, we’re not subject to royal protocol.” Hmm … we think a LOT of people would refuse a paycheck that required them to publicly insult members of their immediate family, but that’s just us. Samantha’s favorite justification for her repulsive behavior is that she’s “in the media.” When pressed about her nasty put-downs, she dismisses them as the result of having “worked in broadcasting and radio for a while,” adding that she’s “always been a bit boisterous.” So when Samantha shows up at Kensington Palace unannounced and has to be turned away by security, she’s not making her sister’s life a living hell. No, she’s just trying to earn a living. And if she has to ruin her sister’s life in the process? Hey, that’s just the cost of doing business. Bristol Palin vs. Dakota Meyer: The Feud Explodes!

Remember a week ago when Dakota Meyer said things between himself and Bristol Palin were ” the best [they’ve] ever been .” Well… a lot can change in a week. On this past Monday’s episode of Teen Mom OG , viewers watched Bristol and Dakota basically end their marriage, as both sides apologized for their mistakes and both acknowledged Meyer’s PTSD had become too much for the relationship to handle. It seemed as though the divorce was mutual and, hey, at the time, maybe everything was amicable. In a new MTV-sponsored video, however, Palin advised viewers not to rush into relationships and pregnancies, telling her audience the following: “I got engaged and pregnant within a month. Planned a wedding. And I was like, ‘I can’t get married.’ Called off the wedding. Went through the whole pregnancy by myself. “Friggin sucked.” That scenario does sound like it would friggin suck. And Palin made it sound even worse when she said she felt guilty that her second child essentially had no father and, as a result… “I got back together with him. Got married right away. Had another baby right away. And then we got divorced just recently.” Meyer, however, has taken EXTREME exception to this portrayal of both himself and the situation between him and Palin. He grants Bristol the basic facts of her pregnancies, but points most of the blame in her direction when it comes to the decisions she made and the way she handled it all. “Yes, we got pregnant right after our engagement,” he captioned a photo of himself and his daughter Sailor, 2. “We planned a wedding with our families and friends and Bristol decided to leave me a week prior . I spoke with her family every month and made it clear I would be the father of my child. “I reached out to her before Sailor was born and asked what the plan was to co-parent. She told me to go through the courts to establish paternity.” Moreover, Meyer argues, if Bristol felt so guilty… if she actually wanted him in the picture… why wasn’t he invited to the birth of his child? “I found out my child was born on Twitter,” he wrote this week in response to Bristol’s video, adding: “Can you imagine being a dad and not being allowed to be at your child’s birth? She denied my paternity until it could be proven, at which point Sailor was born. “For Bristol to state that Sailor didn’t have a dad is laughable. “What really happened is Bristol kept our daughter from having a father present at birth and until the courts ruled that I was her father.” Meyer concluded his angry post like this; “I can promise you this, Sailor and Atlee always had a dad, and always will have a dad.” Pretty straightforward and to the point from Meyer. And we can understand why he’s so upset here. Palin is doing what all Teen Mom cast members almost have to do: stir up drama. She and Dakota can’t just have a friendly divorce and pleasant co-parenting arrangement and nothing more because why would viewers tune in each week? But Meyer is a veteran. He suffers from anxiety and depression and constant nightmares because everyone in his platoon except for himself was killed years ago in a battle in Afghanistan. This is anything but your run-of-the-mill Teen Mom or reality show fodder. After all he’s been through, Meyer isn’t about to sit back and let his life story be turned into a ratings or publicity-grab by his ex-wife. And, really, can you blame him?!? This morning he stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about not only the show, but his relationship with race and how it has affected all aspects of his life for better or worse. Diggs discusses his thoughts on dating white women after his swirly marriage ended in divorce. He also talked about what it meant to become a Black sex symbol and trying to access parts of Hollyweird that are unofficially “whites only”. Interesting stuff. Take a listen.

Kanye ‘I’ve Never Voted’ West Goes To The White House

I n less than a month away from the midterm elections, a man who has admitted to not voting or reading books is going to the White House. Yep, after faithfully stroking Trump ‘s ego,  Kanye West  finally got his invite to the White House to stroke 45 in person. See Also: Bill Cosby Sentenced To 3 To 10 Years In Prison For Sexual Assault Conviction Lyin’ Sarah Huckabee Sanders  reportedly said Kanye will have lunch with the president and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner . “West hopes to discuss two key issues during his visit at the White House: job opportunities for ex-convicts and ways to increase manufacturing jobs in and around his hometown of Chicago,”  CNN wrote. Oh, please. In what universe would Kanye West have the ability to talk about those issues when he is a “ proud ” non-reader of books, said he believes that slavery was a choice,  Malcolm X  wasn’t relatable and has r epeatedly admitted to not voting a day in his life ? CNN also reported that “[o]ther topics of discussion will include prison reform, how to prevent gang violence and reducing violence in Chicago, Sanders said.” Maybe Kanye can start with how the president wants to reinforce stop-and-frisk , the unconstitutional police tactic that terrorized the lives of Black and brown people, or his dangerous calls for “more” law and order — a comment he just made a police convention  on Monday. At least when his wife,  Kim Kardashian , visited the White House, she an agenda to get Alice Marie Johnson out of prison. Kanye’s agenda is clearly himself. Moreover, he got the White House visit that Barack Obama wouldn’t give him . Lastly, if you have never voted a day in your life, you should not be sitting in the White House, especially if you are a rich, privileged celebrity who isn’t affected by the consequences of not voting.
