Lindsay Lohan just dodged another legal bullet. After firing Shawn Holley, her longtime lawyer nevertheless showed up and entered a plea for her in court. Had Holley bailed, after being dismissed a day earlier, a warrant would likely have been issued for Lohan’s arrest. She’s playing with fire, that’s for sure. Linds faces a probation violation, charges of lying to law enforcement and – 3,000 miles away – a separate case in which she was arrested for punching some chick . She’s lookin’ at up to eight months for the probation violation alone, criminal counts aside. Which begs the question: Will she be behind bars at some point this year? Girl’s been a wizard at wriggling out of these things, but she’s getting more and more out of control , and the sheer volume of legal woes will be tough to surmount. You know white people…get money don’t spend it… Lindsay Lohan Has Owed Lawyer Shawn Holley Over $300,000 For Over A Year Via RadarOnline Lindsay Lohan owes her recently fired, long standing criminal defense attorney, Shawn Holley, a whopping $300,000 plus in unpaid legal fees and hasn’t made a payment to the famed lawyer in more than half a year, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting. “Lindsay owes Shawn over $300k in legal fees and she hasn’t made any payments to her in over six months,” a source close to the situation tells Radar. “Lindsay hadn’t paid anything for any of the work Shawn has done on her three new criminal charges of lying to cops, in connection with her car accident in Santa Monica last summer. Shawn has kept Lindsay out of jail for over five years now and she has no idea how good she has had it. Shawn is extremely respected by judges and prosecutors and that has benefited Lindsay greatly. Lindsay’s new criminal attorney, Mark Heller, isn’t even based in Los Angeles and certainly doesn’t have the revered reputation that Shawn does.” As previously reported, Lohan is currently on probation for stealing a necklace from a Venice jewelry store. Meantime, she will be back in court on January 15 to be arraigned on her latest charges. Lohan is required to be in court for the arraignment, at which time she will be required to enter a plea. A date will also be set for a probation violation hearing, and if the troubled actress is found to be guilty, she could be sent to jail for up to six months. “I suspect that Lindsay’s new attorney is either representing her for a reduced fee, or not charging her at all,” the source says. “I think Mark wants the publicity that representing Lindsay Lohan can bring.” What an ungrateful lil beyotch Blohan is! Porn star turned actor James Deen is heard being cursed out by the volatile Lindsay Lohan in a leaked audio clip from the set of The Canyons last year. Apparently convinced he wasn’t taking things seriously, Lohan – whose Canyons set antics were legendary – instructs Deen to “do your f**king job” … Lindsay Lohan Canyons Outburst Despite the clip, and a New York Times expose proving Lohan is a drunk, unstable mess and a terror to all who work with her, Deen has her back. James says he had a misunderstanding with Lindsay just before the indie film shoot, which put her in a bad mood while that audio was recorded: “Hours before the rant she asked why I was doing this movie and I said ‘For fun.’ I meant for experience and enjoyment of working on a Bret Easton Ellis movie.” “I don’t think she understood my intention behind saying ‘for fun’ and thought it meant that I wasn’t going to try,” says Deen, justifying LiLo’s response. Deen, whose day job is working in porn, believes the 26-year-old starlet took his explanation as a shot at her craft, which was definitely not his intention. Asked if he was upset about being cursed at when the incident unraveled, James Deen told TMZ, “Not at all. You didn’t hear me laughing on that clip?” He adds that despite all the bad press she gets, he’s a big fan of hers. Yeah, those two TOTALLY hit it at some point during filming. Right?
After Lindsay Lohan’s got busted for allegedly slugging another woman at a New York nightclub in November, I wrote her off as a lost cause , but Stephen Rodrick’s fascinating New York Times piece about Paul Schrader’s making of The Canyons with Lohan left me thinking that there’s still a talented actress in that scandal-ravaged psyche worth saving. Although Lohan exhibits plenty of ridiculous (and tragic) behavior in the story that would prove my original point, and the media has predictably chosen to run with that, I was struck by a few passages in the story that indicate Lohan is more than just a self-destructive starlet whose career is hanging by a thread. Here are three of them: “The next day, Lohan arrived relatively on time for a makeup test. She sat behind a table with a can of Sprite, looked into the camera and flashed a wholesome smile that would not have been out of place in the world’s best soda commercial. Schrader grabbed my arm and pointed at Lohan’s image. ‘See? That’s why we put up with all the crap. You can shoot bad movies with actresses who are always on time. But look! The rest is just noise.’” Then there’s Rodrick’s description of Lohan’s preparation for a scene in which she was required to be scared and emotionally naked: “All that remained was to get a close-up of Deen touching Lohan’s face with a blood-streaked finger. Only half of Lohan’s face would be in the shot. Most actresses would pop in some Visine to well their eyes with tears and be done with it. Instead, Lohan went back to her room, and everyone waited. I was standing by her door, and soon I could hear her crying. It began quietly, almost a whimper, but rose to a guttural howl. It was the sobbing of a child lost in the woods. She came out of her room, and I watched the shot on a monitor. Now, without the garish makeup, Lohan looked sadly beautiful, and it was easy to see why men like Schrader were willing to put their lives in her hands.” The last excerpt appears at the very end of the story when, after all of the drama of shooting The Canyons, Rodrick asks the writer of Taxi Driver and the director of Affliction and the underrated Auto Focus , if he regretted casting Lohan: “He shook his head. “No, she’s great in the film.” Schrader then told me a secret. Until the screening disaster, Schrader had been in talks with Lohan to star in a remake of John Cassavetes’s “Gloria,” about a woman on the run from the mob. The director lighted up, childlike; hope triumphing over memories of being stripped naked. “It doesn’t involve a co-star. She would be perfect for it.” One of the things that makes Rodrick’s piece so good is that with passages like that, the reader has to make a judgement call: Is Schrader deluded because he really needs this film to move the needle, or is that the veteran filmmaker in him — the one who’s worked with Robert De Niro , Martin Scorsese and his brilliant, late brother Leonard Schrader — talking? I say it’s a mixture of both, but more of the latter. And though Rodrick certainly leaves the impression that The Canyons is a problematic film (that was rejected by the Sundance Film Festival), he also writes this passage about Lohan’s performance that suggests that, with a lot of tough love and self-discipline, her career is salvageable. “But about 15 minutes in, something clicked….Lohan was equal parts vulnerable and dissolute.” I know what you’re thinking: That line is a distillation of Lohan’s recent life, but go back and re-read the description of Lohan’s crying scene. In the right hands, Lohan is capable of tapping into all of chaos and pain she’s experienced and putting it into her performance. It’s too bad that Exorcist: The Beginning was such a debacle for Schrader. LiLo could probably turn in quite a performance as a woman possessed. As the Times piece demonstrates, the promising actress that Lohan once was is still alive in her. It’s just that the demons keep dragging her down. Hours after dodging a legal bullet in her NYC nightclub assault case, Lindsay Lohan continued her London party spree last night, hitting up swanky Rose Club. Until the wee hours of the morning, obvi. Lindsay Lohan, broke as she is, and facing eight months in jail for myriad probation violations, seems to find the money to go HARD every night. It’s how she rolls. Prosecutors opted to delay proceedings for the nightclub fight Lindsay got into back in November, when she clocked “gypsy” Tiffany Mitchell in the face. Later this month, she faces a hearing for lying to police in connection with her June car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway, and the probation violation therein. Hard to keep it all straight, we know. Without a care in the world, the 26-year-old’s been living it up abroad as her problems unravel – and Dina Lohan black eye photos are published – here in the U.S. As the world of LiLo turns.
In a new interview, Dina Lohan basically implies that Lindsay Lohan is a train wreck because she saw her father, Michael Lohan, abuse drugs – and her mom. “I need to make the world aware that Lindsay is messed up because her father is so messed up,” Dina told the New York Daily News in an explosive story. Dina claims her daughter’s ongoing problems all stem from graphic incidents in which she witnessed her father beat her mother in 1986 – and rape in 1990. “Lindsay saw her dad abuse me – that’s why she’s so screwed up,” Dina said. “She saw a lot of crazy stuff. I want the world to know the root of her problems.” “Lindsay saw the beatings an the abuse. She said, ‘Stay, mommy, don’t leave … I’m so sorry for making you stay.’ But I didn’t stay for Lindsay. I wanted all my kids to be happy.” Dina, 50, told the paper that the attack – one of many she says she endured during their 22-year marriage – occurred after they dined in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. Michael Lohan, she says, had spent the night getting drunk and high on cocaine, Dina claims, eventually leading him to punch her in the face with a closed fist. Dina backed up her clai with a photo of a bruise under her right eye, holding an infant Lindsay (she sought medical attention December 4, 1986 for facial “blunt trauma.”) Dina Lohan said that “when Lindsay saw the photo, she was furious. She said, ‘Tell the world! Talk about it!'” Michael denied the story to the paper, of course. According to MiLo, the circumstances were completely different. “I came in at 2 o’clock in the morning after being out with some friends,” he says. “I walked in and she hit me with an ice tray. With the back of my hand I slapped her in the face.” “Yes, it did happen in 1986. Were there any charges? No, not at all.” “I had a big black and blue mark on my neck – from her.” As for the alleged sexual assault, Dina said it took place in 1990, during a time he was in-and-out of jail for convictions tied to his former career as a stockbroker. “Michael was addicted to cocaine, like most stockbrokers back then,” Dina said. “He had a lot of bad stuff going on.” Nothing worse than that one night, however. She said Michael Lohan showed up in a limousine on Valentine’s Day, “out of jail and on another coke-fueled night,” and trying to rebuild their relationship. “He said, ‘I love you and I want to be with you,’ but then it went dark. It went dark really quick,” Dina said, adding that the rape occurred as Lindsay and her siblings slept. “I just knew I had to stay quiet … I [didn’t] want to wake them.” Dina, at her parents’ urging, went to the ER and had a rape kit performed, but said she never pursued further punishment for Michael, who was jail-bound at the time anyway. Not so, Michael says, recalling of the incident: “I went over to her parents’ house and made love to her … how can you rape a person when they’re on top of you?” A fair question, and an image we’re having trouble getting out of our brains. Michael said the rape accusation only sprouted when Dina heard a girlfriend of his in the background on the phone later that night … obviously. “She called the next day, crying,” he said. “I said, ‘Let’s work this out.'” “I got back with Dina. There were no charges.” Michael said of Dina’s accusation-loaded interview: “She’s bringing this up now because she’s drinking and partying with Lindsay. And she keeps robbing Lindsay.” “She is the devil.” Lindsay Lohan is broke , but the reasons for that are manifold. It’s a claim Mike has made many times before, and probably has a degree of truth to it … not that he’s been a saint to his ex or kids by any means. One thing’s for sure … this explains a lot about Lindsay.
I realize that with a little notoriety and a lot of money, it’s fairly easy to get a film made and distributed. But even knowing that, it’s still incredibly baffling to see the red band trailer for InAPPropriate Comedy and realize this is an actual movie that will play in theaters. Directed by Vince ‘Slap Chop’ Offer, it’s The Kentucky Fried Movie meets the Charlie Sheen celebrity roast, and it looks every bit as terrible as his earlier Underground Comedy Movie . Only with the added discomfort of seeing Lindsay Lohan sully the last shreds of her reputation for what must surely have been a miniscule paycheck. Have a look: Considering Offer’s previous law-enforcement troubles involving a prostitute , it’s no wonder he was able to get a bunch of actors to whore themselves, but even so, it’s embarrassing to see Master of Style Adrien Brody debasing his career shilling razors to appear in this dreck. (Insert ShamWow or Schticky joke here.) The worst thing about this isn’t the constant barrage of racist and sexist ‘jokes’ or hackneyed references, it’s how friggin’ tame this thing looks. Titling this movie ‘InAPPropriate Comedy’ is kind of like how authoritarian dictatorships always insist that their countries be called ‘People’s Democratic Republics’. The only thing Asians will be offended by is how lazy the jokes about their eyes are. The good news is that no matter how bad it is, we’ll always have the Slap Chop song. So let’s watch that and remember a time when Vince could amuse us on an 11 th grade level, instead of a 3 rd grade level.
