Hiring Lindsay Lohan is clearly a high-risk, high-reward endeavor. The last month made that abundantly clear, but which way will it break for Lifetime? That remains to be seen, but she’s got the Liz & Dick producers spooked. Having hired Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor , the network received more publicity than they could’ve dreamed … but not always for the reasons they’d like. Understandably, higher-ups are upset and worried over her car accident and the recent episode in which she passed out so hard people had to call 911.

The latest hiccup for the problem-plagued actress involves an on-set investigation of “Liz & Dick,” the Lifetime movie in which Lohan is playing a young Elizabeth Taylor. According to the Wrap , the production is currently under investigation by the labor organizations International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, after multiple reports surfaced of both the cast and crew suffering from exhaustion. One of those reports stemmed from Lohan being found unconscious in her hotel room and rushed to the hospital last Friday (June 15). “The IATSE is on top of the situation on the set of Lifetime’s ‘Liz & Dick.’ We have had union representatives on the set since last Friday and will continue to monitor the hours and working conditions there,” IATSE division director of motion picture and television Mike Miller told the Wrap. “We take very seriously the safety and wellbeing of our crews, and are dedicated to seeing that they are protected from hazardous working conditions.” A spokeswoman for SAG-AFTRA issued a similar statement about investigating the working conditions on the film’s set. “We have thoroughly investigated this matter and our business representatives have visited, and will continue to visit, the set of ‘Liz & Dick,’ ” the SAG-AFTRA rep said. “We have spoken with representatives from the company and they are fully aware of their contractual obligations. We will ensure that all applicable penalties will be paid.” Lohan seemed to make light of the situation via Twitter on Saturday when she issued a very public “note to self.” “Note to self. After working 85hours in 4days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion & 7 paramedics MIGHT show up @ your door,” she tweeted . “Hopefully theyre cute. A report surfaced on TMZ this morning saying that paramedics were called after Lindsay Lohan was found “unresponsive” in her hotel suite, prompting rumors that the troubled star had checked out for good. Thankfully, it turns out that Lindsay isn’t dead- just a very heavy sleeper. But she must have sustained some sort of head injury while she was out, because now apparently she’s having second thoughts about being in that movie with the porn star and the threesomes (aka The Canyons ). A “source” tells the New York Post that although Lindsay initially agreed to be in the Bret Easton Ellis-penned saga of “ youth, glamour, sex and Los Angeles ,” she’s hesitating to sign on the dotted line because she “ would be required to do full frontal nudity, and the sex scenes are very, very graphic .” Yeah, but what about that nudie mag ( you know the one ) she posed for a few months ago? “ Yes, Lindsay has posed nude for Playboy, but doing it in a movie is completely different ,” says the “source”. “ Lindsay needs to make sure that she is comfortable with it, and that this is something she can handle as an artist. It’s expected that Lindsay will sign the contract in the next two weeks, as filming begins at the beginning of July. Lindsay has admired Bret’s work for a very long time, and one of her favorite movies is ‘ Less Than Zero .’ ” So…don’t think about it too much, Lindsay. Just do it. Or Lindsay Lohan. Of course, one of those folks is fictional. The other is very much real — and just had a really crazy week. Yes, the Lind-sanity is still with us, as the actress wrapped an impressive seven-day stretch that began with a car wreck (and hospitalization), rolled right on with some salacious headlines and wrapped with some drama at the Ritz-Carlton (and a rumored hospitalization). Here’s a look back at Lindsay Lohan’s rather hectic week, one that would give any mere mortal (or secret agent) pause. But not her. Friday, June 8 : Lohan is taken to the hospital after smashing her Porsche into an 18-wheeler on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. Luckily, she wasn’t seriously injured — though the same couldn’t be said for her vehicle, as photos showed the Porsche with a severely damaged front end, a smashed windshield and a deployed airbag. Monday, June 11 : Reports surface that Lohan may have lied to police about just who was driving the car. She had originally told responding officers she was sitting in the passenger seat, with her assistant behind the wheel, which supposedly didn’t corroborate with the story her assistant told police. Uh-oh. Tuesday, June 12 : Lohan’s name is attached to “The Canyons,” a Hollywood drama from writer Bret Easton Ellis that will also feature adult-film star James Deen. Lohan will reportedly play Tara, girlfriend to Deen’s Christian, a “trust fund kid, power player and major manipulator, who is a film producer that enjoys filming his own three-way sex sessions.” Thursday, June 14 : “The Canyons” producer Braxton Pope acknowledges Lindsay’s reputation to MTV News, saying, “What’s kind of lost in a lot of the Lindsay discussions is the fact that Lindsay is a very talented actress. She’s very charismatic and she has a lot of acting skills. So her lifestyle and some of the things that she’s gone through have tended to kind of overwhelm the fact, but Lindsay has kind of real talent. So for this part, we felt that she was really the right actor for a host of different reasons.” Friday, June 15 : A California news station erroneously reports that Lohan had been taken to the hospital after being found unconscious in a hotel room. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan Photo: Lindsay Lohan is in the midst of filming her Elizabeth Taylor biopic for Lifetime, “Liz & Dick,” and then she’s expected to begin work on her next film, the sexy, L.A.-based drama “The Canyons.” While her casting isn’t set in stone just yet, the film’s producer said it’s certainly on the right track. “She wants to do it. We want her to do it. I would just say we have not worked out the specifics of her deal yet,” Braxton Pope told MTV News. “Her participation in ‘Liz & Dick,’ I would just say we’re very aware of. We told her in the first meeting that we would be in touch with the producer of ‘Liz & Dick’ to see how that shoot was going and to get intel. And she gave us all that information, so she was very comfortable with us reaching out and getting that information, and that was how we decided to proceed.” With production expected to begin early next month, Pope is aware of the outside perceptions of Lohan and he and his team — consisting of screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis and director Paul Schrader — are more focused on her ability as an actor than her tabloid drama. “What’s kind of lost in a lot of the Lindsay discussions is the fact that Lindsay is a very talented actress,” he said. “She’s very charismatic and she has a lot of acting skills. So her lifestyle and some of the things that she’s gone through have tended to kind of overwhelm the fact, but Lindsay has kind of real talent. So for this part, we felt that she was really the right actor for a host of different reasons.” While they had been eyeing Lohan for a different role, she expressed interest in the female lead, and Pope said her enthusiasm for the part “resonated with us. … With Lindsay we felt she was the best actress for that role.” The role will not only remind fans of Lohan’s skills as an actress, but also introduce moviegoers to James Deen, as he transitions out of the world of adult films. “I’ve met with James many times, and I feel like I have a good sense of who and what he is. We mentioned, obviously, James to Lindsay, and that wasn’t an issue for her,” he explained, noting that “we have not put them together yet” and he’s interested to see what their chemistry will be like, since they are not only the film’s leads, but also play lovers. “He’s a very interesting guy. … He’s entering the mainstream, and this is the biggest step in that direction,” Pope added. “So he’s definitely excited, and he is preparing very diligently for the role. And he’s taken it very seriously. We’ve been pleased with everything about his approach to the project, for sure. He’s always very natural, and the guy was extremely prepared. It was very smooth.” According to a poster for the film, the tagline is “It’s not ‘The Hills,’ ” a reference to the popular MTV reality show that followed the glamorous lives of Lauren Conrad and her pals. This is expected to be a grittier take on young people and their struggles in Hollywood. Deen’s Christian is a “trust fund kid, power player and major manipulator, who is a film producer that enjoys filming his own three-way sex sessions.” Meanwhile, Lohan’s ex-model character, Tara, is his girlfriend who “has sold her pride for the material comforts Christian can provide.” Three other roles remain uncast: bartender and wannabe actor Ryan, Ryan’s employee and fellow actor Gina, and former actress/yoga instructor Lindsay, who is carrying on an affair with Christian. Lindsay Lohan was in fact involved in a skirmish at a nightspot in L.A. recently … at least according to a witness who allegedly saw it go down. A man who worked at the Standard Hotel the night Lohan attacked a woman (supposedly) claims he saw Lindsay there, and even broke it up! Marisa Dugas went to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. and filed an incident report, claiming she was at Smoke and Mirrors inside The Standard. It went down Thursday night when she approached Lindsay’s table and started talking to a guy, and Lindsay allegedly pushed and shoved her . Lindsay insists she was at home the entire evening. The man who worked that night claims he saw Lindsay Lohan in Smoke and Mirrors sitting with a group of people when all hell broke loose.
