Who Scored Big in Week Nine of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

A strange thing has happened over at 30 Rockefeller Plaza during this season of Saturday Night Live : Bill Hader has usurped Kristen Wiig as SNL ‘s go-to cast member. Oh, sure, Wiig has had her fair share of sketches this season, but it’s becoming increasingly evident that the Man Who Plays Stefon has put the show on his back. Hader wasn’t number one on the Revelancy Poll this weekend, however, but it’s a rare week when he does not appear in the top-five. For reference, this is not one of those weeks.

Edith Piaf, Mötley Lüe and the Best Music Cues of 2010

The way music is used in film makes for an interesting marriage. For every unmemorable movie made memorable because of a perfectly placed pop song, there is an unremarkable song turned iconic by its inclusion great film. There isn’t anything inherently brilliant about Donovan’s “Atlantis,” but when Martin Scorsese used the song during the Billy Batts scene in Goodfellas , it became brilliant. Don’t ask me to explain; that’s just the way these things work. Who were the Donovans of 2010? Ahead, Movieline offers up the five best music cues of the year.

Comic Book Gods Worth Worshiping !

Top 10 Comic Book Gods Worth Worshipping | Ranker – A World of Lists Of all the super heroes based on mythological gods, it is the Mighty Thor who is the longest running and most popular. # 1 ! ) ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY THOR! Created by Stan Lee in 1962, Thor was created simply because Lee was running out of ideas for giving normal humans super powers. There are only so many radioactive spiders and gamma bombs after all. So why not just make his new hero an actual God? Instead of going for the more well known Greco/Roman myths, Stan and artist Jack Kirby opted for the lesser known Norse Viking mythology, and the whole thing worked like gangbusters. For some reason, Stan gave the Norse Gods the affectation of speaking in Shakespearean dialect, which made zero logical sense, and yet everybody rolled with it. Although a contemporary of Spider-Man, The Hulk, and the X-Men, Thor never really achieved their mainstream success, although that is due to a change next year when Marvel Studios releases their Thor movie. Hopefully by this time next year, little kids across America will be yielding plastic versions of Mjolnir, Thor's enchanted hammer, and speaking in 'thees” and “thous”. We can only hope that our favorite God has the kind of success he deserves. LINK – – – http://www.ranker.com/list/top-10-comic-book-gods-worth-worshipping/eric-diaz?pa… added by: remanns

Does Natalie Portman’s Black Swan Weight Loss Mean Oscar Gold?

David Letterman may have already declared Natalie Portman the winner of this year’s Oscar for Best Actress but the Black Swan star still has quite a few academy voters to woo, too. Could her recent media blitz, in which she tells everyone from MTV to Us Weekly how her extensive ballet training required up to eight hours of bar routines and a 20 pound weight loss, help her campaign? Movieline takes a look at the track record for highly publicized dieting actors winning (and losing) Oscar gold and sees where Portman fits.

5 TV Shows That Are So Bad, They’re Actually Brilliant

As anyone who has ever spent eight hours watching consecutive episodes of Cops (don’t judge) knows, there is a fine line between bad and brilliant television. Some television is horrible because abominable writing and overacting mesh so weirdly well, that a series becomes unintentionally hilarious; other times, ridiculous conceits, tragically unfunny hosts and drunken reality subjects accidentally yield entertainment. Sadly, TV scientists have yet to isolate a foolproof formula to replicated this “bad but brilliant” genre, but Movieline has identified five programs that qualify for the category.

8 Milestones in the Evolution of Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe tries his best at counterprogramming this weekend with his new prison break thriller, The Next Three Days . But how did Crowe get to the point of bankable action star after his debut on an Australian television series? You can always trace a direct line through a handful of roles (not necessarily his best roles, mind you) to illustrate what led to an actor’s current success, and with Crowe, that line twists through soap operas, cop dramas, thrillers, and, of course, one fateful Oscar night. Let’s look at eight performances — including one of his earliest — that trace the evolution of Russell Ira Crowe.
