Lady Gaga Rocks Fans With Monster Ball Performance

‘I swear it was the best show I’ve ever gone to!’ fan exclaims of Atlantic City showcase. By Shawn Adler Lady Gaga performs in Atlantic City on Saturday Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage Mother Monster might have been the one on stage Saturday night (February 19) belting out numbers at the top of her lungs, but it was the Little Monsters in the audience who reached impossibly loud volumes for their hero, Lady Gaga. And they did it outside the arena. “I swear it was the best show I’ve ever gone to!” a fan screamed to MTV News outside of Boardwalk Hall arena in Atlantic City, where Gaga had just finished her Monster Ball performance. “I was waiting for it!” “I loved it!” fan Sandy Kutsu gushed at alarming decibels. “It was my second time!” Generally sticking to her Monster Ball format, Gaga nevertheless had some new tricks and treats in store for her appreciative audience, including a performance of “Born This Way” (“She did ‘Born This Way’!” a fan exclaimed!) during a second encore, just one day after the single was named the fastest-selling single in the history of iTunes . “There was a little bit of new choreography, some new costuming. But other than that it was the Monster Ball we know and love,” fan Stephanie Botton explained. “I was in tears at ‘Born this Way.’ It was absolutely great.” The biggest surprise, however, might have been Gaga’s announcement during the show that she’d be back on tour next year with the “Born This Way Ball.” “How can one person do all that? I have no idea!” gushed fan Kaitlin Donahue. For fans, the tour surely can’t come quickly enough. “She’s changed my life,” Botton said. “It was awesome!” Related Photos Lady Gaga Lights Up Atlantic City Related Artists Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’: A Cheat Sheet

MTV News takes a look back on the long road to single’s release. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News For Lady Gaga fans, the road to the release of “Born This Way” has been long. With teases for months now, Gaga’s dedicated Little Monsters finally get to hear the song, from her May release of the same name. Before you hit play and listen to the song on repeat, MTV News takes a look back at the months of anticipation for the release. Gaga first got the buzz started in September. While wearing a dress made entirely of meat, she got up onstage at the VMAs and not only announced the album title , but also sang a bit of the song for fans. Soon, details about the album were emerging, but little was known about the title track until January 1, when she announced that she would be releasing the song February 13 . Her longtime collaborator, RedOne, spoke to MTV News weeks later to reveal that the song is “so beautiful, and Gaga is very special to all of us — to the world.” Later that month, Gaga initially teased fans with a few lyrics from the song before giving up the full lyrics — revealing an anthem about equality for everyone , regardless of race, creed or sexuality. “It is a very gay song — unapologetically, gay-in-your-face gay — but it’s also a universal song that can relate to everyone,” pal Perez Hilton told MTV News . “To all of us outsiders, to all of us freaks, to all of us who feel different. And the music is undeniable. It sounds like a smash. It is a smash. It is one of the best songs of Gaga’s career.” As February 13 quickly approached, Gaga decided to treat her fans and release the track two days earlier than expected. She even shared the artwork for the track . By the time the song was released, Lady Gaga was gracing the cover of Vogue and sharing with her fans her process for writing the track. “I wrote [‘Born This Way’] in 10 f—ing minutes,” she explains in the article. “And it is a completely magical message song. And after I wrote it, the gates just opened, and the songs kept coming. It was like an immaculate conception.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Lady Gaga

Ryan Seacrest, Josh Duhamel In Talks For ‘New Year’s Eve’ Movie

Ice Cube has also been named as possible addition to all-star cast for Garry Marshall flick. By Jocelyn Vena Ryan Seacrest Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Who would have thought that Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Sienna Miller, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara wouldn’t be enough Hollywood star power for one movie? Well, it seems that the brains behind the forthcoming movie “New Year’s Eve” are looking to add even more high-profile talent to the lineup. “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, Ice Cube and Josh Duhamel all are in talks to appear in the star-studded flick, which follows New Yorkers over the course of, you guessed it, New Year’s Eve, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Seacrest would play himself in the movie, Duhamel would play a man looking to get to New York to reconnect with a mystery woman he met the year before, and Cube would play an NYPD cop who works with Swank, who will play the director of the Times Square New Year’s Eve party. The flick is set to begin filming next month. Earlier this week, “SNL” funnyman Seth Meyers and rocker Jon Bon Jovi signed on for roles in the Garry Marshall film, the sequel to 2010’s “Valentine’s Day.” And at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month, Efron confirmed his role in the movie to MTV News. “I’m starting a movie in a couple of weeks called ‘New Year’s Eve,’ with Garry Marshall. It’s got a great cast,” he shared. “My scenes are with Michelle Pfeiffer. Yeah, not a bad co-star.” Last year, Marshall spoke to MTV News about the film, which was then in its early stages, and had one other megastar in mind for the film. “Already they’re mentioning Justin Bieber ,” he said. “Perhaps I’d better see who he is, so when he arrives on set, possibly [we can talk]. So we’ll see.” Check out everything we’ve got on “New Year’s Eve.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ Nabs Best Pop Video

The win adds to the pop superstar’s dominating Moonman haul at 2010 Video Music Awards. By Rochell D. Thomas Lady Gaga accepts the Best Pop Video award during the 2010 MTV Video Music Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Lady Gaga howled as she was escorted by a few burly handlers up to the podium to accept the Best Pop Video Moonman — her fourth trophy of the night at the 2010 VMAs . Having changed into a mountainous black strapless gown topped, this time, by spiked Mohawk peaks, the singer needed help getting to the stage, and once there she let out a “Yeah!” The cast of “Glee,” who presented the award, gathered around her. With 13 nominations and the prospect of several trips to the stage, Gaga added, “I didn’t really quite think all the wins through. This outfit is too heavy to walk in.” In the Best Pop Video category “Bad Romance” was, once again, up against serious competition, including B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You” (featuring Bruno Mars), Beyonc

Kanye West, Justin Bieber Fans Split On ‘Runaway Love’ Remix

Remix featuring Raekwon has some pop and hip-hop purists on the fence. By Peter de Saint Phalle Justin Bieber Photo: George Pimentel/ WireImage Kanye West forced fanbases to collide on Monday, when he released his Justin Bieber “Runaway Love” remix , featuring Raekwon. What began as a mere social-networking brainstorm, not only utilizes the contemporary pop-chart topping talents of both West and the Beebs, but also features some of Raekwon’s vintage verses from “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthing Ta F— Wit.” So how do loyal fans react when a teen pop sensation, a master producer-turned-rapper and a hip-hop legend combine forces? For the answers, we’ve looked across different blog sites and MTVNews.com to see fan comments and reactions to the new record. While the remix seemed acceptable to most listeners, others thought the blend of Bieber with the two MCs went together like oil and water. McShanful wrote on the hip-hop blog 2dopeboyz.com : “I thought this turned out pretty dope. But judging by the comments, this remix is a fail because Wu-Tang fans don’t want to hear JB on a classic beat. And JB fans don’t know or even care who Raekwon is, nor do they appreciate this classic beat. Nice try, ‘Ye.” Readers on both pop and hip-hop websites couldn’t see the benefit of including Bieber’s song in the collaboration, stating that the current prince of bubble gum discredited the rappers’ integrity. “I’m a hard-core fan of Kanye’s earlier music, but now I honestly think he will do anything if it gives him some fraction of publicity or money,” Leni wrote on JustJared.com . “Justin Bieber? I mean really?” Legacye wrote on on PerezHilton.com : “Oh … dear … lord. That was awful. Kanye’s part of the track sounded fine, but Justin’s music is just TOO tweeny-pop to fit in well with adult R and B. 1/5 from me.” And though Bieber’s collaboration with Ludacris on “Baby” has been a huge hit with his followers, some were less than pleased by this much less pop-flavored track. “OMG !! That is just horrible,” KT wrote on on Popeater.com . “Justin is the only good thing on the song, but you have to sit thru that no talent thug mumbling and talking his way thru the verses before Justin sprinkles his magic on the song. PLEASE Justin don’t team up with these no talent thug rappers because your management says so. All it shows is how much talent you have and how little talent the rappers have. No wonder they all want a piece of Justin’s genius. YAYYY JUSTIN!!” But there were also many positive comments about the new musical frontiers embarked upon by the unlikely trio. “The song actually wasn’t that bad, and as much as I hate to say it, Bieber sounded a little like Michael Jackson,” Ericarbo436 wrote on MTVNews.com. “A young youth, rockin’ the gold tooth!” B

Lady Gaga Previews New Song, ‘Living On The Radio’

Gaga previewed the piano ballad at a show in St. Paul on Monday night. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Lady Gaga gave her Little Monsters another sneak peek at her upcoming album on Monday night during a show in St. Paul, Minnesota, when she pulled back the cover on the song “Living on the Radio.” The gentle piano ballad has a nostalgic feel. In it, Gaga gives herself a kind of pep talk about fame and fortune, throws a loving shout out to her adoring fans and pats herself on the back for finally realizing her ambition of getting on the radio. “Baby, you must be free/ Keep living on the radio/ That’s your dream,” sings Gaga, who at the age of 24 has already charted six #1 hits between her debut, The Fame, and its sequel, The Fame Monster, as well as notching 25 million singles downloads and near ubiquity on the radio over the past 18 months. “Baby, you’ve got a friend/ And so many little monsters/ Keep living on the radio/ And when there’s nowhere to go/ And all your friends are gone/ And you’ve only got your daddy to call/ You’re gonna be alright, honey/ Because your songs are on the radio.” In the classic tradition of the road tune, Gaga laments the loneliness of living out of a suitcase and lonely nights spent away from home. It helps that, in her case, she’s traveling on a “road paved in gold,” which clearly makes it a bit less of a drag. There are also nods to champagne, caviar and sold-out shows, which also presumably make a tour bus that much easier to manage. It’s the second song from Gaga’s still-untitled album, which the singer has been previewing during her Monster Ball Tour , coming on the heels of “You and I,” which she debuted in late June at Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara ball. It’s unknown if either song will make the cut on the disc, which Gaga has described as “utter liberation” and frequent Gaga producer RedOne said will be “shocking.” What do you think of Gaga’s new song? Lady Gaga Fans Display Their Monster Finery Before ‘Today’ Show

From cigarette glasses to studded bustiers, the costumes at Rockefeller Plaza would make the Haus of Gaga proud. By Nuzhat Naoreen, with additional reporting by Kimberly Reynolds Lady Gaga fan at the “Today” show on Friday Photo: Nuzhat Naoreen/ MTV News NEW YORK — The heat wave was still lingering in the city, but that didn’t stop devoted Lady Gaga fans from getting decked out in their most inspired looks before waiting overnight in Rockefeller Plaza to see their idol perform for the “Today” show on Friday morning (July 9). From a sea of blond wigs, to dangerously high heels, the Gaga footprint was everywhere. Some fans rocked styles straight from her music videos as a tribute to the pop princess. Others took to a cue from Gaga’s unique sense of style to put together original eye-catching outfits. “Telephone” seemed to be the biggest inspiration of the night. MTV News caught sight of fans who had soda-can rollers tucked in their hair and glasses made out of fake cigarettes as a nod to Gaga’s looks in the video. Some little monsters wore lacy leggings and studded tops, and many wrapped yellow caution tape around themselves. Then there were the fans who got even more creative. One woman bought a strapless dress and adorned it with yellow flowers, while another used a piece of pleather to make an outfit. A lot of fans also relied on great accessories. A young woman, wearing a short, bright-red jumpsuit glued metallic rocks onto the side of her sunglasses, and her look was so Gaga-like that many fans stopped her for pictures. Hundreds of fans, who were perhaps not as gifted with time or sewing skills, threw on body and face paint and made special T-shirts and posters in preparation for Gaga. To get a taste of the many attention-grabbing looks in Gaga’s “Today” show audience, check out the flipbook ! Which Lady Gaga would you re-create and wear if time and skill were no matter?
