Source: FOX / Getty We finally get some good news on tonight’s episode of Empire . Kai, who has been missing in Nigeria for five days at this point, has been found. Jamal cheeses from ear to ear after getting the call with this news and heads to the hospital post haste! It’s obviously a joyous reunion. What ended up happening to Kai was that he and his crew got ambushed but managed to escape. However, it was a journey trying to get back to the US with no money or passport. This is also the moment we discover that Kai has HIV. Kai didn’t kick Cookie and Jamal out of the room when the doctor was giving him his medical run down. One of the things we learn, which clues us in, is that Kai’s viral load was high because he hadn’t been taking his medication (because he couldn’t). Jamal has known about Kai’s status and had been taking the proper precautions to keep himself negative (like taking PrEP , for example), but imagine Cookie’s shock when she discovers this! Jamal tries to explain to Cookie that she shouldn’t be worried, but she’s so shaken up that she goes home and spills the beans to Lucious. Cookie asks Lucious what they should do about this and Lucious surprises us all when he tells her they should mind their business. Cheers to growth. Lucious understands that you can’t keep two determined grown people apart. Cookie, however, is still a bit dense in getting that mainly because she needs to educate herself about HIV and AIDs, which she does, and because she’s just protective of her baby. Hakeem wants to get back with Tiana, and while she’s down for some d, she’s not convinced that she wants to be with him due to his antics and she wants to focus on getting her music career back together. That latter part takes a turn when Tiana presents new music to Kingsley at Empire and he hates it. He’s super rude to her and insults Hakeem . Basically, he wants her to scrap the project and start over. Becky seems to like it and side eyes Kingsley, who doesn’t deal well with managing artists interpersonally very well. The song was dope but the message here is obvious: Kingsley wouldn’t know a hit if he tripped over one while walking down the street. In other news, Lucious has been struggling with Devon. The thing with Devon is, he has the voice and the looks, but his presence, heart, and soul aren’t quite there. Lucious wants him to stop holding back and taps Jamal to come help. Jamal works his magic, of course, and successfully gets Devon ready to make his debut. We’ll get there in a second. Tiana surprise drops that track she did with Blake (the one where Hakeem wrote the lyrics for Blake and then Blake made Tiana promised that the song would stay between them) because she’s pissed off at Kingsley. Hakeem isn’t happy when he hears it because he’s jealous. Hold that thought. Now we’re at Devon’s performance. The audience is feeling him and so is a record label owner that Lucious has been courting. It’s a man that Lucious knows from back in the day and he wants to sign Devon. They got themselves a deal! Blake confronts Tiana about dropping the track because once again, that song was never supposed to come out. Then Tiana says when she “heard what Blake wrote” she just had to drop the track. Hakeem overhears this and gets pissed at the thought that people think that people think Blake wrote it and thinks Blake is trying to take credit. So, Hakeem does what he does, and punches Blake in the face multiple times. It’s also important to note (if you haven’t picked that up by now) that Hakeem also feels like Blake is trying to steal his woman. Blake and Hakeem get to fighting for a sec (it’s a miracle Hakeem is even breathing through this with his collapsed lung situation) and after it’s broken up, Hakeem has a flashback of Tiana in labor. She had a high-risk pregnancy with twins and a rough delivery. Ultimately, she almost died delivering a boy and a girl, and the girl died. They went through a lot of strife, but that doesn’t always mean they should be together. Tiana is tired of Hakeem’s volatile behavior and says she’s done with him. For real, for real. The episode wraps on a high note. Kai proposes to Jamal. He got the ring the moment he got out of the hospital. But guess what? Jamal planned to propose too! So then he gets down on his one knee and they pop the question to each other. Awww…but we’re still stressed out about who tf ends up dying! Welp, get ready to have your mind blown again, because there’s another little fun factoid that Bobby brought up in his book that somehow managed not to make it to the made-for-TV film about his life. Bobby Brown has had sexual intercourse with a ghost. Yes, you read that correctly. Look, we don’t know whose ghost it was or the intricacies of how ghost poon operates…but Bobby insists it went down, and largely without any of his consent. Lola Brooke born Shyniece Thomas is a rapper and a songwriter. A native of (Bed Stuy) Brooklyn, New York, Lola has been writing music since she was eight years old but started her career as an artist at the age of twenty-three. In 2016 she signed with Team80, a New York City-based independent record label. Lola then dropped her first music video to a freestyle titled “2017 Flow” (released January 1st, 2017) which brought light to the artist’s talent; with the motto “Bars is back” felt throughout the freestyle as an anthem, Lola had given people something to look forward to. Lola’s delivery was clear and she was able to showcase her ability to stand out. She soon decided to quit her job and pursue her career full time. With the help of her team, Lola has been able to push her way into the music industry building a buzz around her name and gritty style, while also maintaining a growing fan base through consistency. If you’re an Ariana Grande fan, we probably don’t need to tell you the singer has really been put through the wringer emotionally in recent weeks. And of course, her recent struggles have all been made more difficult by the fact that they’ve played out on a public stage. Obviously, Ariana is still reeling from her breakup with Pete Davidson , but that’s just the latest in a string of traumas that have tested the singer’s strength of spirit. Just last month, Grande’s most recent ex, Mac Miller, passed away following an apparent drug overdose. And of course, all of this happened just 16 months after the bombing at an Ariana concert in Manchester that claimed the lives of 23 victims, many of them fans of Grande’s. After enduring so much in a short period of time, it should come as no surprise that Ariana is reportedly desperate for a break from the spotlight. Grande took a hiatus from social media recently, but it seems she recently decided that she needs a more long-term break in order to really focus on healing. A world tour in support of Ariana’s latest album begins in March, and it seems that in order to ensure that she’s emotionally prepared for such an undertaking, Grande has decided to explore the possibility of in-patient treatment. “It’s a miracle she’s still holding it together after everything she’s seen,” a source close to the singer tells Heat magazine. “A lot of people think it would be good for her to take a break and get professional help.” The source goes on to say that while Ariana has put on a brave face for her fans, she’s also been struggling like never before in recent weeks, and her loved ones have encouraged her to give rehab a try: “On the outside, it may seem like she’s OK, but deep down, she’s vulnerable,” says the insider. It’s been three months since Demi Lovato suffered an overdose that nearly claimed her life. After spending over a week in the hospital detoxing and recovering from the physical damage she had endured, Demi relocated to a treatment facility in Arizona. Lovato isn’t taking any chances this around, spending most of her time in Arizona, but also taking regular trips to Chicago, where she consults with the team of specialists who helped her get sober the first time around. ( Lovato celebrated six years of sobriety just prior to her most recent relapse.) While the process is reportedly going as well as can be expected, those who know the singer best say she’ll be remaining in treatment for quite some time, just to be safe. In fact, fans shouldn’t expect to see Demi making any public appearances prior to 2019. “Demi is taking her sobriety extremely serious, and knows she has a long road ahead of her,” a source close to the situation tells Entertainment Tonight. “At the end of the day, Demi is doing this for herself. “She has to stay sober for her, but every time she has family or friends visit her it reminds her of all the other important people in her life that she needs to fight for as well.” On Maria Menounos’ podcast this week Lovato’s mother, Dianna De La Garza, revealed that Demi is 90 days sober and fully committed to the lifelong work of recovery. “I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work,” she said of Lovato’s road to recovery. “It’s not easy. There are no shortcuts.” Insiders say Lovato looks back on her sober years as the happiest time of her life, and she’s determined to get back there. “Demi is thankful she’s still alive and is doing whatever she can to never get to that point again,” says one source. Techies and Apple fans flocked to BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) which is conveniently located next to Apple’s newest state of the art store to get the first glimpse of Apple’s new line of products. New MacBook Air The MacBook Air was in dire need of need of a proper upgrade or a replacement, and this new model is what people have been waiting for. The new MacBook Air is 2.75 pounds making it lighter than its predecessor which weighed 2.96 pounds. It features a 50 percent thinner bezel, retina display, 13.3-inch display, two USB-C ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Basically, it’s now a MacBook Pro in MacBook Air body minus the touch bar. It now has Touch ID for secure logins and is powered by the T2 series chip which is also found in last year’s MacBook Pro and iMac Pro. Inside it ships with up to 16GB of RAM, and 1.5TB SSD alongside a powerful 8th Gen Intel dual-core CPU with integrated graphics. The base model of the MacBook Air comes with 8GB RAM, a 1.6GHz Core i5, and a 128GB SSD and is on sale for $1,199 starting today. New Mac Mini The Mac Mini hasn’t seen an upgrade since 2014 so its safe to say this has been a long time coming. While the new Mac Mini may look the same on the outside, it is boasting some significant upgrades on the inside. The new model now has a quad-core 8th Gen Intel processor, and a six-core Intel Core i7 model. Another significant change from the previous model is the new Mac Mini will support up to 64GB of RAM with every model featuring flash storage with up to 2TB of space. Like the new MacBook Air model, it will also have the T2 security chip and will be modernized thanks to having a bevy of new ports. On the back of the new Mac Mini, there are Ethernet, HDMI, two USB-A ports and our USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports. Starting at $799 the base model goes on sale November 7th and will ship with a quad-core Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB of SSD storage with room for configuration. New iPad Pro Last but certainly not least the new iPad Pro which is apparently the next device not called the iPhone where Apple is putting most of its attention into. The long-rumored new model sports a complete redesign with a much more slimmed-down look, Face ID, USB-C port ditching the lightning connector. Also gone from the new model is the classic home button meaning it now utilizes the gesture navigation first introduced with the iPhone X as well as Face ID and the TrueDepth camera setup. The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes 11 inches ($799) and 12.9 inches ($999) that sports Liquid Retina Display alongside Apple’s ProMotion technology that will provide smooth and fluid display performance. Thanks to Apple’s new A12X Bionic chip with an 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU the new iPad Pro boasts 35 percent faster single-core performance as well as a significant 90 percent bump in speed for performing multicore tasks. The headphone jack is now gone, and if you want to use wired headphones, you will have to purchase a USB-C to headphone dongle. If you’re into gaming on your tablet, the new iPad Pro is the way to go because it boasts “Xbox One S class graphics performance in a package that is much smaller” thanks to its powerful GPU according to Apple’s Jon Ternus. Alongside the iPad Pro a redesigned Apple Pencil ($129 ) that features new touch gestures and ditched its old charging method for new wireless one by magnetically attaching it to the iPad Pro thanks to series of magnets installed inside the device. The new Smart Keyboard Folio was also unveiled that will allow users to type in various angles but the price has gone up to $179. Even though Apple still has interest in its MacBook Air model, it seems they are focused on making the iPad the replacement for the desktop and the laptop. The most terrifying aspects of the video have become the stuff of legend, including the make-up, the fashion and of course, the dancing. Choreography was laid down by Michael Peters , who choreographed the 1981 musical Dreamgirls and M.J.’s own “Beat It” music video. Michael also assisted with the moves and according to the 1983 documentary The Making of “Thriller,” the dance routine involved 18 professional dancers and four poppers and lockers. Once the roster of dancer zombies hit the cold, foggy, pavement in the video, nothing was the same. People around the world started mimicked the scary claw hands, the epic shoulder action, and the earth-shattering thunder-claps. Soon, many artists only dreamed of creating a visual just as scary and entertaining as “Thriller.” Of course, only a few lived up to the epicness of the video and it took M.J. himself to top his own work. In 1996, Michael released more terror with his 39-minute short film Michael Jackson’s Ghost. The choreography was complete with dancing skeletons, more of the dancing dead, and M.J. disguised as a chubby White mayor. Naturally, it was fire. Fast forward to today and dancers now have more opportunities to bring choreographed scares to life thanks to the Internet. Some have pulled straight from Michael Jackson with their own Thriller tribute videos or flash mobs. Others have decided to pull from recent horror flicks such as 2013’s The Purge . Choreographer and dancer Anuar Zamora definitely brought the chills with his Halloween Special. … If specific people give you the creeps such as clowns or nuns, the ODD Dance School definitely tapped into people’s darkest fears with The Nun Halloween Dance choreographed by Bao. Specific dance styles also brought the creepy moves. Chicago footwork dancer Pausegonkill gave Mike Myers all the steps for The Return video… Meanwhile, the poppers BendYaMind , Poppin John and Malthe caused quite the disturbance with their Dubstep Halloween routine… Chihiro decided to include elements of waacking into her creepy Catholic routine… Even afrobeat took a dip in horror with the Meka Oku -choreographed Halloween video… Whether you’re a major star, a celebrated street dancer or a skilled choreographer, “Thriller”s impact is evident in the dance world. No matter if you’re getting dressed up for Halloween or embracing your fears during the year’s spookiest nights, hopefully, some fire moves can bring you a bit of joy in the terror.
