Mischa Barton Moves to London With DJ Ali Love, Makes Out With Amy Winehouse

At one point, Mischa Barton had a fairly promising career. The OC was a hit, she was scoring endorsement deals, and seemed like the next big thing. Now she is moving from L.A. to London with new boyfriend DJ Ali Love, and is known more for her turbulent personal life than any recent acting work. Linking up with Amy Winehouse should only help that. The UK wild child met a fellow fallen star with wasted potential at a Camden pub yesterday. Soon enough, there was some locking of lips involved. The supposedly-reformed pair were spotted shaking hands then kissing each other before enjoying a chat over a drink or 20. This cannot end well. Amy and Mischa have plenty of common ground to bond over. Winehouse is said to be clean after a high-profile battle with drugs, while Barton announced she is going straight following her most recent DUI arrest. Of course, both have done stints in hospitals and rehab. Mischa Barton was placed on involuntary psychiatric hold last year after a meltdown at home. Now in London to spend time with DJ Ali Love, her new boyfriend, Barton said she’s being healthy and has been reading scripts for new acting roles. She told the Daily Mail on Sunday: “I’m avoiding drinking, which is a shame as there’s nothing better than a glass of delicious English Pimm’s.” Wino, who is dating Reg Traviss , can’t make the same claim. After meeting Mischa Tuesday, the Back to Black singer headed to central London, hitting Balans bar where she stayed for hours, ordering champagne and cocktails, before dancing and singing her way to nearby Chinatown. She returned home at 11:30 this morning in the same clothes.

Rapper shares his feelings about Diddy in September cover story of XXL. By Jayson Rodriguez Shyne on the cover of the September 2010 edition of XXL Photo: XXL Expatriated rapper Shyne graces the September cover of XXL, and in the issue, the formerly jailed star talks about his gun case, Diddy and the decision he made more than 10 years ago that changed his life forever. “In my life, when I make decisions to roll, I roll,” Shyne told the magazine about firing a gun while partying with Diddy and the mogul’s then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez at Club New York. “And I don’t give a f— what the consequences are. If I’ma defend myself, I’ma defend myself. If somebody tryna kill or hurt one of my partnas or my comrades, that’s with me, there is no, ‘Yo,’ or, ‘Damn, well, if I pull this sh– out, this is what’s gonna happen.’ No! I don’t wanna die. I don’t wanna be laid up in no f—ing hospital with a tube runnin’ through me, hurtin’ and sufferin’. Pain is real. So you know what? I’m not doin’ that. You gon’ do that, mother—-er. You gon’ roll and say hi to Satan, not me. And that’s that. “Your survival instincts tell you to protect and preserve, and you deal with whatever later,” he explained of his actions. Shyne and Diddy were both charged in the December 1999 incident, and the two later went to trial separately with different legal representation. Diddy was aquitted , but Shyne was found guilty of first-degree assault, among other charges, and sentenced to 10 years in prison. After the trial, his relationship with the Bad Boy Records CEO soured. Shyne lashed out in interviews against his former mentor, claiming Diddy turned his back on him. Though he’s still not in agreement with the way things were handled, Shyne appears more measured in his personal take on Diddy’s actions. “You can always say, ‘Man, that ain’t the way to handle the situation,’ ” he told XXL. “Sure, I know in my soul that the situation was supposed to be handled in a different way. But it ain’t really a matter of disappointment or letdown, ’cause I never really … I grew up never having sh–, never having anybody. So I never was that dude to depend on a mother—-er. Obviously, the actions is not something that you condone or that you’re happy with. Not at all.” After serving almost nine years of his prison sentence, the Brooklyn-bred rapper was deported to his native Belize. Since then, he has re-joined Def Jam’s roster. The rapper has only provided a small sampling of material in the months after inking with the label, including “Messiah,” in which he raps with a noticeably drawn-out flow, a variation from the tighter delivery he displayed during his Bad Boy days. The Shyne interview is the first in a three-part series on the rapper set to run in forthcoming issues of XXL. Young Jeezy also graces the split cover of the magazine’s 13th anniversary issue, is set hit newsstands on the first week of August. XXL ‘s September issue hits stands August 10. Check out video coverage from the issue on the “Sucker Free Countdown,” Sundays at noon on MTV2. Do you think Shyne will be able to put the past behind him and create new music? ‘Inception’ Hallway Scene: How Filmmakers Pulled It Off

‘I was blown away and also scratching my head,’ recalls DP Wally Pfister of seeing zero-gravity sequence in the script. By Eric Ditzian Joseph Gordon-Levitt in “Inception” Photo: Warner Bros. On the red carpet for “Inception” last week, star Joseph Gordon-Levitt talked at length about one of the film’s most eye-popping visuals: a zero-gravity fight scene in a dream-created hallway that spins in all directions. It’s an astounding bit of moviemaking magic that has you wondering just how director Christopher Nolan and his team were able to do that. We put that question to Nolan’s right-hand man and longtime director of photography Wally Pfister, who revealed the inside scoop about the hallway scene, describing it as the movie’s most technically challenging sequence. “There are always scenes in a Chris Nolan script where I’m wondering how we’re going to pull it off, going all the way back to Guy Pearce shooting Joe Pantoliano in the head in ‘Memento,’ ” Pfister told MTV News. To create the environment, the scene was shot using not CG effects, but rather massive, rotating sets that twisted and turned and forced Gordon-Levitt to maneuver with utmost caution. Five-hundred crewmembers were involved in the scene, which took a full three weeks to complete. In a World War I-era airship hangar just outside London (also home to sets for “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight”), Nolan’s crew built a series of different hallway settings: a horizontal one that rotated 360 degrees, a vertical one that allowed actors to wear wires and another on which the actors were strapped to steel trolleys, which were eventually erased using visual effects. “When I was reading those rotating hallway scenes, I was blown away and also scratching my head,” Pfister recalled. Gordon-Levitt trained for two weeks with the stunt department to learn how to negotiate the rotations. When it came time to shoot, the whole crew would rehearse first with no rotation, and then graduate to a slower rehearsal with a little rotation, until it was finally time to roll the cameras. “We run the fight scene for as long as the actors can pull it off,” Pfister explained. “We begin with a camera that’s not fixed to the set and shows a bit of the rotation, and then you quickly jump to where you’re rotating with the set. It creates this bizarre, strange movement. It’s an exhausting process for the actors. Having rotated on that set myself, it’s really quite challenging and a very strange thing to get used to. If you jump at the wrong time, you could be falling 12 feet through the air. “We kept coming back to it,” he added. “We’d shoot out a part of a sequence and then the riggers would have to adjust something. We’d duck out and shoot something else and come back a few hours later and shoot more. The whole thing was spread out over about three weeks. You’ve never seen anything like this before.” Which scene in “Inception” ranks as the most memorable to you? Tell us in the comments! BP says it finally stops oil spewing from Gulf gusher

The oil has stopped. For now. After 85 days and up to 184 million gallons, BP finally gained control over one of America's biggest environmental catastrophes Thursday by placing a carefully fitted cap over a runaway geyser that has been gushing crude into the Gulf of Mexico since early spring. Though a temporary fix, the accomplishment was greeted with hope, high expectations — and, in many cases along the beleaguered coastline, disbelief. From one Gulf Coast resident came this: “Hallelujah.” And from another: “I got to see it to believe it.” If the cap holds, if the sea floor doesn't crack and if the relief wells being prepared are completed successfully, this could be the beginning of the end for the spill. But that's a lot of ifs, and no one was declaring any sort of victory beyond the moment. The oil stopped flowing at 3:25 p.m. EDT when the last of three valves in the 75-ton cap was slowly throttled shut. That set off a 48-hour watch period in which — much like the hours immediately after a surgery — the patient was in stable, guarded condition and being watched closely for complications. “It's a great sight,” said BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles, who immediately urged caution. The flow, he said, could resume. “It's far from the finish line. … It's not the time to celebrate.” Nevertheless, one comforting fact stood out: For the first time since an explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon oil rig killed 11 workers April 20 and unleashed the spill 5,000 feet beneath the water's surface, no oil was flowing into the Gulf. President Barack Obama, who has encouraged, cajoled and outright ordered BP to stop the leak, called Thursday's development “a positive sign.” But Obama, whose political standing has taken a hit because of the spill and accusations of government inaction, cautioned that “we're still in the testing phase.” The worst-case scenario would be if the oil forced down into the bedrock ruptured the seafloor irreparably. Leaks deep in the well bore might also be found, which would mean that oil would continue to flow into the Gulf. And there's always the possiblity of another explosion, either from too much pressure or from a previously unknown unstable piece of piping. The drama that unfolded quietly in the darkness of deep water Thursday was a combination of trial, error, technology and luck. It came after weeks of repeated attempts to stop the oil — everything from robotics to different capping techniques to stuffing the hole with mud and golf balls. The week leading up to the moment where the oil stopped was a series of fitful starts and setbacks. Robotic submarines working deep in the ocean removed a busted piece of pipe last weekend, at which point oil flowed unimpeded into the water. That was followed by installation of a connector that sits atop the spewing well bore — and by Monday the 75-ton metal cap, a stack of lines and valves latched onto the busted well. After that, engineers spent hours creating a map of the rock under the sea floor to spot potential dangers, like gas pockets. They also shut down two ships collecting oil above the sea to get an accurate reading on the pressure in the cap. As the oil flowed up to the cap, increasing the pressure, two valves were shut off like light switches, and the third dialed down on a dimmer switch until it too was choked off. And just like that, the oil stopped. It's not clear yet whether the oil will remain bottled in the cap, or whether BP will choose to use the new device to funnel the crude into four ships on the surface. For nearly two months, the world's window into the disaster has been through a battery of BP cameras, known as the “spillcam.” The constant stream of spewing oil became a fixture on cable TV news and web feeds. That made it all the more dramatic on Thursday when, suddenly, it was no more. On the video feed, the violently churning cloud of oil and gas coming out of a narrow tube thinned, and tapered off. Suddenly, there were a few puffs of oil, surrounded by cloudy dispersant that BP was pumping on top. Then there was nothing. “Finally!” said Renee Brown, a school guidance counselor visiting Pensacola Beach, Fla., from London, Ky. “Honestly, I'm surprised that they haven't been able to do something sooner, though.” Alabama Gov. Bob Riley's face lit up when he heard the news. “I think a lot of prayers were answered today,” he said. The next 48 hours are critical. Engineers and scientists will be monitoring the cap around the clock, looking for pressure changes. High pressure is good, because it shows there's only a single leak. Low pressure, below 6,000 pounds per square inch or so, could mean more leaks farther down in the well. Thad Allen, the retired Coast Guard admiral overseeing the spill for the government, said they are deciding as they go along whether to release oil into the water again. At the end of the 48-hour test it's possible oil will start to flow again — but, theoretically, in a controlled manner. When the test is complete, more seafloor mapping will be done to detect any damage or deep-water leaks. added by: JanforGore

Amy Winehouse Says New Album Will Be Out By January

Troubled singer promises return to Back to Black sound with ‘a lot of jukebox stuff.’ By Gil Kaufman Amy Winehouse Photo: Martin Fraser/ FilmMagic It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost four years since Amy Winehouse released her Grammy-winning breakthrough album, Back to Black. But after almost two years spent in a wilderness of drugs , divorce , serious health issues , multiple court cases and nonstop personal drama , Winehouse told London’s Metro newspaper that she’s ready to put the spotlight back on her music with a new album she hopes to have out by January. At the premiere of the film “Psychosis,” directed by new boyfriend Reg Traviss, Winehouse, 26, told Metro, “The album will be six months at the most,” noting that the sound will be similar to the retro soul on Black. “It’s going to be very much the same as my second album, where there’s a lot of jukebox stuff and the songs that are … just jukebox, really.” Though she didn’t explain what she meant by “jukebox,” Winehouse has reportedly recorded some tracks on the island of St. Lucia with producer Salaam Remi, who collaborated with her on Black. Winehouse also explained her blunder-filled performance with Mark Ronson last week at London’s 100 Club, in which she appeared to forget the lyrics to the song “Valerie,” from Ronson’s Version covers album. She told Metro that a musical mix-up caused the confusion during the gig. “Mark and I recorded two versions of ‘Valerie,’ ” she said. “We released the one that came out like the Supremes, but I play the other version with my band. When I got there, I completely forgot it was his version we were singing, so I was probably a bit out of sync. It was really fun to be onstage with him, though.” After the gig last week, Ronson said he plans to reteam with Winehouse on the new album, but was waiting until she had at least 10 songs together before hitting the studio with her. In the meantime, they have recorded one song together for an upcoming tribute to music legend Quincy Jones. While her live show has often been iffy at best in the past, Winehouse said she’s excited to have a wider repertoire to choose from when she starts touring for the new album. “I just can’t wait to have some new songs onstage, really.” Winehouse’s spokesperson confirmed to MTV News that the singer is working on new material but said no official release date has been set. Though visa issues appear to be currently holding her up, Winehouse is also reportedly planning to record songs for a supergroup album with the Roots’ drummer, ?uestlove, and Remi. While the group doesn’t have a name yet, ?uest said he plans to sit down and talk with Winehouse soon about laying down some tracks. Are you excited about a new Amy Winehouse album?
