Couple to Wed Thanks to 400,000 Recycled Cans

Photo via TinyTall After Pete Geyer and Andrea Parrish became engaged, they decided to say “I can” before saying “I do,” and in more ways than one. The couple worked to make their wedding not just a celebration of the love they have for each other, but to show a bit of love to the planet as well–by funding the ceremony solely through the recycling of aluminum cans . With a modest wedding bu… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Maroon 5’s ‘Misery’ Video: Watch Behind-The-Scenes Footage Now!

Video premieres Thursday on MTV.com! By James Montgomery Maroon 5’s Adam Levine in “Misery” Photo: A&M/ Octone By now, you’re probably aware that Maroon 5’s new video, “Misery,” is a pretty action-packed affair, featuring frontman Adam Levine being tossed off of buildings, slapped around and dodging oncoming traffic. “We decided to focus on violence instead of sex this time around,” bassist Mickey Madden joked to MTV News last month. “We like to switch it up,” Levine added. “The next one will be about drugs.” We’ll just have to see about that one … but in the meantime, you can watch some exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage of the “Misery” clip right now, because MTV News was there in May, when the band shot the video. Maroon 5 worked with noted director Joseph Kahn — who’s helmed clips for the likes of 50 Cent, Britney Spears, Eminem, Muse and U2 — on the clip, which must have been an experience all its own. After all, not only has he worked with the biggest names in the biz, but he actually dreamed up the violent concept behind “Misery.” “The cool thing is, when Joseph wrote the treatment … after reading a few sentences, I thought it was really amazing,” Levine said. “He’s awesome. He’s really enthusiastic and creative and awesome and fun. We’ve never worked with him before and he’s a very big video director, so it’s great to finally get to do something with him.” “He’s put all of this together impressively, quickly and effectively,” Madden added. “It’s pretty awesome to see.” The full “Misery” video will premiere tomorrow on MTV.com, but you’re going to have to wait a bit longer to hear their new album, Hands All Over, which isn’t due until September. Nikki Reed Was ‘Intimidated’ By Rosalie’s Backstory In ‘Eclipse’

‘I know that the fans have expectations,’ she tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Nikki Reed Photo: Damian Vaca/ MTV News “Twilight” was all about Bella and Edward. Then in “New Moon,” Jacob really stepped it up. While “Eclipse” definitely focuses on the love triangle, fans also get to learn a bit more about their friends and family. When Nikki Reed had to shoot Rosalie’s backstory, her biggest moment yet in “The Twilight Saga,” she was feeling the pressure. “I was torn, because I was definitely looking forward to it. I mean, I read the first three books before we began filming ‘Twilight,’ so I knew what I had in store if we made all three movies,” she told MTV News about going back in time and showing the fans Rosalie’s story. “But I was obviously very intimidated, and I felt a little insecure, and I was nervous, and maybe I should not be saying all these things, but I was.” For those unfamiliar with the “Twilight” series ( spoiler alert! ), when she was a human, Rosalie was attacked by a group of men, including her fianc

‘Eclipse’ Fans Love Movie’s Tent Scene, Faster Pace

Twilighters at the movie’s midnight screening call this the best of the three ‘Twilight’ movies. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit We’re not sure if you’ve heard, but “Eclipse” is out now. Fans all across the U.S.A were already lining up for midnight screenings on Tuesday night to be some of the first to catch the third film in the “Twilight Saga.” MTV News caught up with New York City Twi-hards before the show , and we were also on hand to talk to Los Angeles fans as they streamed out of the theater. The consensus among the West Coast Twilighters we spoke to is that David Slade’s take on the vampire tale rocked. “Best movie! It was actually the whole tent scene. Love the tent scene; it was a battle between Edward and Jacob. It was amazing! I loved it,” Elisse Mendez raved to MTV News. “I would actually have to say this is one of the top films that has come out so far. ‘Twilight’ was good. ‘New Moon’ was good, but I think this was better. Jacob — this time around he was such an amazing actor.” Patrick Seitz said he had been hoping Slade would bring his prior vampire expertise to the film, and he wasn’t disappointed. “I actually surprisingly liked it. I think this is the best of the bunch. I did [like the end], although I feel bad for Jacob because every time he does stuff, I know what’s coming,” he said. “I like the love triangle. I like the tension. I thought it was a good ending.” Morgan Jones admitted that the end made her cry. Her pal Heather Jones added, “Loved it. This one’s so much better! I wish I could watch it again right now. The acting was better, the writing was better. There weren’t so many long pauses. It was like it moved. It was an action film.” Fans named the long awaited tent scene and the film’s conclusion as highlights. “The ending of the movie was really great,” Carissa Odenberg said. “I want to see ‘Breaking Dawn.’ It makes you want to see the next one.” Her friend Anthony Ortiz continued, “It had a lot of action. Best movie so far of the ‘Twilight Saga.’ I like the details. All the detail was good. I really enjoyed it.” “It was awesome,” Cary Lockwood said. “It was better than I thought it was going to be.” Angie Llorena added, “It was better than the first two combined. It got my adrenaline pumping. It was very cool, exciting.” Did you see “Eclipse” yet? Share your reviews in the comments! Carrie Prejean and Kyle Boller: About to Get Married!

Carrie Prejean is about to get married. Not to a woman, of course. That would be disgusting and against everything the bible tells us, according to the beauty queen. Instead, the disgraced former Miss California will walk down the aisle on Friday alongside someone she can truly admire: a busted first round NFL draft pick with a career passer rating of 70.6. Multiple sources confirm that Prejean and Kyle Boller have blocked out rooms at the Grand Del Mar Hotel in San Diego this weekend, as they plan a lavish wedding that definitely won’t include Donald Trump or any THG employee, after we ranked Carrie as the second-biggest Turkey of 2009 . Prejean and Boller got engaged in February. Since then, we’ve heard little from the beauty queen that once told us how much God loves fake boobs and who blamed society for her sex tape . We really miss her.

Eclipse Review: The Best Twilight Film Yet!

While The Twilight Saga may boast an impressive, deep cast, let’s face it: this franchise is all about its three main stars. For that reason, New Moon fell a bit flat, as Robert Pattinson scarcely appeared as Edward and we were left with too much of Bella sitting around and simply pondering her life. Granted, Taylor Lautner took his shirt off a lot, but here’s the great news about Eclipse : Jacob is once again topless most of the time – but he isn’t the only one heating up the screen. Having been treated to a screening of Eclipse , we can confirm: it’s by far the most action-packed of all three Twilight films, and it’s also the best. Here’s why: Bella’s internal conflict has external consequences . Jacob or Edward? Edward or Jacob? This love triangle is at the forefront of the film, but it’s placed against the backdrop of a centuries-old feud between werewolves and vampires. This is far more than typical teenage angst; this is Bella needing to make a decision, the ramifications of which will impact all the lives around her. When Jacob and Edward agree to an alliance in order to protect the girl they love, even men in the audience might stand up and cheer. It’s exciting, selfless stuff. The movie has a sense of humor . Early on, Edward says of Jacob: “Doesn’t he own a shirt?” It’s a cute, light-hearted wink at the audience and the pop culture phenomenon the franchise has become. Jacob vs. Edward . Choosing a Team in this rivalry is a necessity for all fans, and Eclipse sets up more of a dichotomy than ever before. At one point, Bella complains that Edward won’t “unzip before marriage.” Meanwhile, Jacob simply oozes sweat and sex appeal. The former is old school, the latter… well, he’s ready to pounce. These differences make Bella’s dilemma all the more stark, which makes it that much more interesting to watch. The tent scene . Trust us. The flashbacks . Through a series of character flashbacks, we learn how multiple Cullens earned their fangs. Jasper’s tale of being a Confederate Major is especially gripping. Great special effects . The movie climaxes with a showdown between wolves and vampires (and one human, of course) that may not be at the level of Avatar , but it makes tremendous use of CGI. Overall, the action is on par with many summer popcorn flicks. In the end, it’s easy to understand why the Twilight Saga appeals to teenage girls everywhere: two gorgeous guys aren’t just in love with Bella, they are willing to do absolutely anything for her. It’s the stuff we all dream about. But Eclipse adds action, adventure and history to that simple storyline. It combines the best elements of the first two films and we strongly recommend it to all readers.

Can Anyone Explain What the Hell Despicable Me Is?

So there’s this movie called Despicable Me coming out. There are some commercials making the rounds on TV, and a few posters have popped up here and there. It appears to be animated and in 3D, and Steve Carell’s involvement is noted. I think Universal is the studio, but I can’t be sure. In fact, beyond the aforementioned citations, I can’t be sure of anything with this one. Am I the only one completely in the dark about this movie? If so, why? And if not, can you please explain it, starting with the title?

Last Surviving Rebel Without a Cause Cast Member Dies at 75

Corey Allen, who became the last surviving principal cast member of Rebel Without a Cause after Dennis Hopper’s death a month ago, died Sunday of natural causes. Allen played Buzz Gunderson in the 1955 classic, winding up on the losing end of that chicken race against James Dean’s Jim Stark. Allen later went on to direct TV, winning an Emmy in 1983 for an episode of Hill Street Blues . He was 75 years old — and would have turned 76 today. RIP. [ PopEater ]

REVIEW: Despite Pedigree, Love Ranch Succumbs to Tired, Hookerific Cliches

Playing the madam at the center of Love Ranch , Helen Mirren seems acutely aware of the novelty of a freshly minted grande dame picking up her skirts and heading straight for the sex worker’s equivalent of Disneyland. As Grace Bontempo (a pan-lingual take on Mrs. Goodtime) she runs the Love Ranch, one of Reno’s legal prostitution outposts, with a self-consciousness unbecoming of one who could convincingly pull off royal blood. The spectacle of Mirren tricked out in mid-70’s pimp wear — ahead of her time, she even brandishes a cane — has a certain charm, but novelty alone can’t keep Love Ranch ‘s tiresome tropes and plodding storyline from dragging the film down through the Nevada dust.

The Band From TV ‘Take Over’ Chicago

TV stars-turned-charity-rockers Greg Grunberg, Bob Guiney talk to MTV News before series of gigs. By Tami Katzoff Band From TV plays gigs in Chicago with “House” star Hugh Laurie Photo: MTV News CHICAGO — The fun started on Friday at Chicago’s Harry Caray’s Tavern, as the star of TV’s “House,” Hugh Laurie, introduced Band From TV in his distinctively gravelly British accent. “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, friends, acquaintances, lovers, fighters, tax attorneys, pickpockets and hockey fans … for your entertainment, edification and sheer shuddering pleasure: Band From TV!” Laurie bellowed. The concert kicked off a blitz of weekend gigs in Chicago by the band of musicians who also happen to appear regularly on your TV screen. The group, which plays for charity, is made up of Laurie and TV stars Greg Grunberg (“Heroes”), James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”), Jesse Spencer (“House”), Adrian Pasdar (“Heroes”), Bob Guiney (“The Bachelor,” “GSN: Live”) and Scott Grimes (“ER”). Performing rock-and-roll covers, the band played the Windy City steakhouse on Navy Pier on Friday, continuing the next day with a show on the main stage in Grant Park, as part of the Taste of Chicago event. The same night, they played another gig at the Vic Theatre (this show benefitting the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago). They wrapped up on Sunday with a short set before a Cubs/ White Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field. “Yeah, Band From TV is basically taking over Chicago. It’s pretty crazy,” said drummer Greg Grunberg, who stars in the upcoming NBC comedy “Love Bites.” A founding member, Grunberg first met Laurie in 2006 when he was cast in guest-starring role on an episode of the Fox medical drama “House.” “He’s such a wonderful guy,” Grunberg told MTV News of his bandmate when we caught up by phone a few weeks before their series of shows. “And I knew he had played music because I followed his career, all the British comedy stuff that he did, and [in] a lot of the sketch comedy he did back there, he would do musical numbers.” Grunberg was already playing around Los Angeles in a garage band, so the two actors got together to jam. James Denton soon joined the group, followed by lead vocalist Bob Guiney, who met Grunberg at a charity event. “Greg was like, ‘Hey, I’m going to jam with some friends, why don’t you come?” Guiney recalled. “So I go to the rehearsal space … and in walks James Denton, and then in walks Hugh Laurie. And this is the first time I’m meeting these guys. And we immediately hit it off.” Two weeks later the band played its first gig, opening in L.A. for Mick Fleetwood and Macy Gray — and Band From TV was born. Guiney added, “We got such great feedback from it that we were like, ‘Let’s keep this going, this is fun.’ Eventually more actors were added to the mix, Grunberg explained. “Hugh brought in Jesse Spencer from ‘House,’ I brought in Adrian from ‘Heroes,’ … before I knew, it we had this band.” Scott Grimes was a recent addition, and the band often brings in special guests — mostly other TV actors — to perform at various shows. While audiences might go in expecting something less than top-notch from these TV stars-turned-rockers, Band From TV are the real deal. They bring some professional musicians and backup singers onstage for extra support and the result is a polished sound. “We see the jaws drop when we come out because people expect us to fall flat on our face, or sound like every other ‘actor band,’ ” Grunberg said. “But we’re really pretty tight.” Laurie seems to be the virtuoso of the group. At the Chicago gigs, he played piano while singing Ray Charles’ “Mary Ann” and later grabbed a mandolin for Pasdar’s rendition of Charlie Robison’s “John O’Reilly.” “The guy is the best musician I’ve ever met in my life. And it’s amazing because he’s so completely humble about it,” Guiney, who had a career in music before he ever appeared on TV, said of Laurie. Because they’re on television, the bandmembers must work rehearsals and performances into already hectic working schedules. And it’s more than the love of music that drives them: The money made from shows — as well as their 2008 CD/DVD, Hoggin’ All the Covers — is divided among the actors’ favorite charities. “It just takes a lot of effort,” Grunberg said. “But we enjoy it so much and the end result is, in the last four years we’ve given away over $2 million in charity, so it’s worth it.” Their only Chicago gig with an admission price was Saturday night’s show at the Vic. Grunberg is the official spokesperson for the National Epilepsy Foundation and the cause is personal to him. “My oldest son has epilepsy and he actually had brain surgery at Rush [University] Medical Center in Chicago. The doctors at Rush Medical Center basically saved my son’s life, and I really wanted to do something special for Chicago.” Judging by the near-ecstatic reaction of their fans, Chicago did indeed get something special.
