Madonna on Glee Cast, Upcoming Episode: Amazing, Brilliant on Every Level

A few days before Glee airs an hour dedicated to Madonna , featuring the cast performing a number of Material Girl singles, the iconic singer sat down for a sneak peek at the episode. What did she think? “I thought the Madonna episode of Glee was brilliant on every level. The dialogue and the entire script was genius. I completely appreciated the layers of irony,” she said in a statement. Adding that she likes “all the messages about the boys being respectful to girls,” Madonna continued: “The entire cast was amazing. They’re all so talented. I especially loved Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and Kurt Hummel’s (Chris Colfer) characters. [Show creator] Ryan Murphy did a great job bringing all these elements together. [Daughter] Lola loved the show too. I wish I went to a high school like that…If only.” Members of the Glee cast make like Madonna in these scenes from the 4/20/10 episode of the Fox show.

Madonna Has a Crush on Schu

The Material Girl is speaking out about Glee in anticipation of next week’s “Power of Madonna” episode, though she’s not really commenting on the show itself (or even Jane Lynch’s frame-by-frame copy of her iconic “Vogue” video) as much as she’s publicizing her affection for the show’s sole white-man rapper: “I think Mr. Schuester is very cute. I’m glad he’s doing such a good job empowering all the girls.” Translation: “Matthew Morrison, if you play your cards right, you can be my next Vanilla Ice.” [ Billboard ]

Miike Snow Count Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, Perez Hilton And More As Fans

‘I’m pretty overwhelmed,’ bandmember Pontus Winnberg says of the group’s success. By Joel Hanek Miike Snow Photo: Downtown Records While not yet a household name, Miike Snow is the band that the household names are listening to. Having only released one album thus far, last summer’s self-titled debut, Miike Snow has quickly gained a following among the blogosphere and established acts alike. Along with inescapable pop sensation Ke$ha , “American Idol” breakout star Adam Lambert named the trio’s debut as one of his favorite albums of 2009, even if he had a little trouble pronouncing the name. He raved to MTV News , “That album is unbelievable!” Blogger Perez Hilton also told MTV News that Miike Snow was one of his favorite acts at this years’ South by Southwest festival , and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” director Edgar Wright said the group’s uptempo dance track “Animal” was one of his favorites of ’09 . Although the band is relatively new in music years, the members are not amateurs. Miike Snow, an “indie electro-pop trio,” are comprised of American writer/producer Andrew Wyatt along with the Swedish writing/producing team of Chris Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg. The Swedish duo, also known as Bloodshy & Avant, have written for major acts like Madonna and Britney Spears — and won a Grammy for penning Spears’ 2004 infectious hit “Toxic.” Winnberg explained why the Swedes were so good at writing music. “[Sweden is] cold and grim and the only thing you can do is rehearse with your band and write songs and be depressed,” he said. The group formed in 2007 when Wyatt met up with Karlsson and Winnberg. “I was in Sweden because I was touring with another band, stopped off and did some stuff with [Andrew and Chris], just for fun,” Wyatt explained. Even though the three members are mainly experienced behind the control board, they describe the songwriting process as very natural. “It’s very organic,” Winnberg offered. “We like to be in the same place at the same time, so it’s just like us three f—ing around in the studio and whatever happens, happens.” The group has been touring in support of their debut album since last May to a string of sold-out club shows around the country — even making a stop at the Coachella festival along the way. “Yeah, I’m pretty overwhelmed,” Winnberg said of the fans’ response. “I mean, the first time you saw people singing along with the lyrics it was a very cool experience.” “Amazing, and in some ways surprising for us because it’s a new thing for us to be touring,” Karlsson added. Not only does the band have a cavalcade of celebrity followers but, thanks to their production experience, Miike Snow have gotten involved with the best in the world of remixes and remixing. DJ heavyweights like Mark Ronson, Crookers and Fake Blood have remixed “Animal,” and the band themselves have done re-workings of songs by indie darlings Vampire Weekend and Passion Pit. “I guess you kind of take away everything from a production standpoint that is kind of boring — it’s just the fun parts,” Winnberg explained about remixing. “You don’t have to record the vocals, you can more or less just do what you want.” Miike Snow plan to continue touring throughout the summer and hope to record the follow-up to their much buzzed-about debut by the end of the year. Justin Bieber Back On Top Of Billboard Albums Chart

Solo album from former Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash debuts at #3. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 Photo: Island The pupil has quickly become the teacher. Just one week after Justin Bieber ‘s mentor, Usher , topped the charts, the Canadian teen will climb back into the #1 spot next week with his second album, My World 2.0. After falling back a spot to make room for the chart debut of Usher’s Raymond v Raymond , Bieber reclaimed the pole position with 102,000 in sales, despite a 65 percent drop-off in business, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. That gives the “Baby” singer a three-week total of more than 675,000. And while Usher’s sales slipped 72 percent in week two, his 92,000 was enough to keep the self-titled debut solo album from former Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash down at #3 on sales of 60,000. The only other newcomer in the top 10 is the live CD/DVD from Madonna, Sticky & Sweet Tour, which moved 28,000 units. The rest of the top 10 is largely unchanged, with this year’s top-selling album, Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now, at #4 (57,000), Now 33 (#5, 53,000), Monica’s Still Standing (#6, 38,000), Lady Gaga’s The Fame (#7, 32,000), Bieber’s My World (#8, 30,000) and Erykah Badu’s New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh (#9, 30,000). Just outside the top 10, Jakob Dylan’s second solo album, Women and Country, have a soft landing at #12 (26,000), soul belter Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings hit #15 in the first week for I Learned the Hard Way (23,000), and Sigur Ros singer/guitarist Jonsi has a solid debut at #23 with the solo album Go (15,000). Thanks to the hype surrounding the video for their existential world-of-wonder rhyme “Miracles” , greasepaint rappers Insane Clown Posse storm back up the charts to #55 with Bang! Pow! Boom! (8,000). Much further down the list, the collaboration between former Talking Heads leader David Byrne and DJ Fatboy Slim, the Imelda Marcos concept album Here Lies Love, debuts at #94 (5,000), while E-40’s Revenue Retrievin’ albums both take a solid hit, with Night Shift dropping 51 spots to #100 (5,000) and Day Shift slipping 61 to #108 (5,000). And while Adam Lambert’s debut, For Your Entertainment, holds relatively steady at #76 (6,000) — with a likely bump next week, following the “American Idol” season 8 runner-up’s mentoring gig on the show this week — the self-titled bow from the man that beat him, Kris Allen, falls off the charts for the first time since its release in November. At less than 300,000 copies, Kris Allen is officially the lowest-selling debut album from an “Idol” winner in the show’s history. Next week will bring chart bows from MTV Musical March Madness winners Coheed and Cambria and MGMT, whose Congratulations has met with lukewarm critical response so far. Who Should Play Suzy Kolber in Forthcoming Joe Namath Biopic?

Word on the street is that James Mangold is in talks to direct a biopic about the legendary New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath. While there appears to be no script as of yet, the film would no doubt cover all the crucial milestones of Namath’s life, from leading his team’s heroic upset of the Colts in Super Bowl III to shilling for Hanes BeautyMist pantyhose to his stunning, drunken on-air flirtation with ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber in 2003. The high-profile project will make for one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood, for which every agent in Hollywood will have only one question for the filmmakers: ” Who’s playing Kolber? ”
