‘Glee’ Star Jane Lynch Says She ‘Terrorizes Everybody’ In New Season

‘There’s a lot of sexual blackmail,’ actress says of her character Sue Sylvester’s exploits. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Audrey Kim Jane Lynch at the “Glee” spring premiere on Monday Photo: Todd Williamson/WireImage The upcoming season of “Glee” is set to pay tributes to the work of Madonna and Lady Gaga , but fans are also excited to see just how the relationships will change when the latest episode premieres Tuesday (April 13). Jane Lynch, who plays the tough-as-nails gym teacher Sue Sylvester on the hit show, assured us that Sue will be back to her old, mean tricks. “She terrorizes everybody, still. She gets inappropriate with a bunch of guys. There’s a lot of sexual blackmail,” she told MTV News at the premiere party. “She does a little singing with Olivia Newton John. She gets put in her place in a very interesting, cruel ways by Mr. Will Schuester himself. He gets kind of rough with her and he really hurts her feelings.” This season fans of the show will also get to learn a bit more about why Sue acts the way she does. “We learn more about Sue and, then again, she’s the same person who puts kids in a headlock,” she said. “Sue’s kind of exacting revenge now because I believe she was treated really poorly as a high school kid and now … she’s going to get her power back. And she’s going to terrorize everybody, even though she’s 30 years older than these kids … she perceives as being one of those kids. She’s gonna get ’em back!” Lynch also admitted that having a new generation of guys fawning all over her does feel kind of good. “Sixteen-year-old boys are like my demo now,” she said. “I was saying on ‘Oprah,’ not to drop names, those boys when I was a kid [didn’t pay attention to me] and now the 14-year-old girl in me [gets excited] … It’s great!” What are you looking forward to seeing on the new season of “Glee”? Conan O’Brien Launching Late-Night Show On TBS

In surprise move, show will launch in November at 11 p.m., followed by George Lopez’s ‘Lopez Tonight.’ By Eric Ditzian Conan O’Brien Photo: Michael Kovac/ Getty Images In a shocking turn, Conan O’Brien has inked a deal with TBS to launch a new late-night show in November. “In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable,” O’Brien said in a press release. “My plan is working perfectly.” The news comes just as negotiations between O’Brien’s reps and Fox were said to be progressing, albeit facing obstacles over concerns from the channel’s affiliates. The announcement was made on the same day that O’Brien launches his Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour in Eugene, Oregon. O’Brien’s publicist confirmed the development to MTV News. The press release states that TBS began negotiations with O’Brien last week, after George Lopez, who has his own late-night show on the channel, personally called the displaced “Tonight Show” host and asked him to join the lineup. “I can’t think of anything better than doing my show with Conan as my lead-in,” Lopez said in the press release. “It’s the beginning of a new era in late-night comedy.” O’Brien’s still-untitled, one-hour show will air Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. ET/PT starting in November. “Lopez Tonight,” which currently airs at 11 p.m., will shift to midnight. “Conan has been the comedic voice for a generation. TBS already has a huge audience of young comedy lovers, and Conan’s show will give these fans even more reasons to watch our network,” Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, said in the release. On his Twitter account, Conan added, “The good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I’ll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show.” Will you tune in to Conan’s TBS show? Let us know in the comments!

Nicki Minaj Is ‘Real Creative,’ Producer Alex Da Kid Says

‘She’s one of the top people I wanted to work with,’ the beatsmith says about the Young Money MC. By Shaheem Reid Nicki Minaj Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images Nicki Minaj ‘s “Massive Attack” producer Alex Da Kid — who has also worked with Rihanna, Rob Thomas, Jazmine Sullivan and B.o.B — said you can expect more collaborations between him and the Young Money MC. “She wants to be an artist like a Rihanna or a Lady Gaga that translates all over the world,” Kid told MTV News about Minaj’s aspirations. “She’s dope. She’s super creative,” he continued. “She knows what she likes to hear. I’ll put a idea down [and] she’ll be like, ‘I like that idea. I don’t like that idea.’ We’ll just go back and forth. You get in the studio with some artists and they don’t know what they want until they hear it. She understands production. She’s dope. She’s easy to work with. She’s very cool. She’s got this cute thing, but at the same time she’s kinda grimy and ghetto. I really like it. She’s out here. She’s real creative and she’s one of the top people I wanted to work with. I think she’s dope.” Alex said songwriter Sean Garrett presented her with the beat to “Massive Attack” around four months ago and she immediately fell in love with it. Some other artists wanted the beat but both Alex and Sean agreed Nicki would do it justice. ” ‘Massive Attack’ … I’m kinda mobile. I make a living on my laptop,” he explained. “Any time a idea hits me, I put it down. I started that track on the train going to the studio. I don’t generally do that. I always kinda wait, but I had a melody idea. So I started on the train and finished in the studio. I knew it was special from the start. It wasn’t like I was aiming for Nicki with this track; I had a idea I thought was crazy. Nicki heard it and the rest was history. “With all my stuff, I base everything in hip-hop,” he added. “I been listening to hip-hop since I was 2 or 3. I try and broaden everything. I love all types of music and I do everything. I do rock, I do pop. Everything I do is based in hip-hop — that’s the foundation.” Alex produced B.o.B’s “Airplanes” single (featuring Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Eminem ) and has some beats for Rihanna, Estelle and Young Jeezy on deck as well. “I was in with Jeezy in Miami. Jeezy is hilarious. I been a fan. I had appreciation of him but he’s so open and so cool —” he’s another one that knows what he likes to hear.” Who would you like to hear Alex Da Kid work with next? M.I.A.’s Lady Gaga Comments Stir Mixed Reactions From Fans

‘She sings about riding disco sticks and gets called a genius for it,’ one fan wrote in agreement with M.I.A. By Jocelyn Vena M.I.A. Photo: Michael Loccisano/ FilmMagic M.I.A. has opened quite a can of worms for herself. After taking a few shots at Lady Gaga in an NME interview, calling Gaga “a good mimic” and “not progressive,” fans of both ladies are speaking out for and against the rapper’s comments. “M.I.A. is not even on the same level as GaGa. She only got her 15 seconds of fame because ‘Pineapple Express’ put her song into the trailer. Did anyone give a damn about her before? Nope,” Gabriel wrote. “I respect Lady GaGa a lot more because she worked her way towards where she is. She’s innovative and she’s a talented entertainer and song writer. Have I seen any of those qualities in M.I.A.? Not at all. She’s just trying to get back into the spotlight, but I doubt anybody will care.” Theboogieman631 noted that regardless of their artistic integrities, comparing the two artists is like comparing apples and oranges. “I don’t see how anyone can compare the [two]. Their music doesn’t sound remotely the same,” he wrote. “They’re both on different ends of the spectrum.” Victor defended M.I.A.’s comments, noting that the rapper “is just being honest people and she’s not jealous. Gaga is a mimic nothing more nothing less, she sings about riding disco sticks and gets called a genius for it,” Victor continued. “Her videos rival the advertisements during the Superbowl … Everything she does is a rip off of either Grace Jones, Madonna, Rosin Murphy, Bj

M.I.A. Calls Lady Gaga ‘A Good Mimic’

Singer/rapper says Gaga’s music isn’t weird enough in NME interview. By Jocelyn Vena M.I.A. Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic M.I.A. is known for her outspoken views, and in a new interview with British music magazine NME, the MC says she’s got a bone to pick with some of the latest pop culture trends, namely Lady Gaga and “Twilight.” M.I.A., who is releasing her follow-up to 2007’s Kala later this year, took issue with the fact that some people compare her eclectic style to Lady Gaga’s. In the interview, which appears in the print version of the magazine but has been transcribed by Oh Know They Didn’t , accused Gaga of being a “mimic” rather than making genuinely strange music. “[T]here’s Lady Gaga — people say we’re similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently, but she spits it out exactly the same!” M.I.A. said. “None of her music’s reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music, you know? She’s not progressive, but she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I f—ing do! “That’s a talent and she’s got a great team behind her, but she’s the industry last’s stab at making itself important, saying, ‘You need our money behind you, the endorsements, the stadiums,’ ” she said. “Respect to her, she’s keeping a hundred thousand people in work.” When asked about the state of record labels in the changing music industry these days, M.I.A. took another shot at Gaga. “Are [labels] even interested in making money from music anymore? Lady Gaga plugs 15 things in her new video. Dude, she even plugs a burger!” she said. “That’s probably how they’re making money right now — buying up the burger joint, putting the burger in a music video and making loads of burger money.” And though the British Sri Lankan artist has always been very concerned with the visual element of her work, she said “it’s not like ‘Haus of Gaga.’ Me blindfolded with naked men feeding me apples and sh–.” M.I.A. risked making other enemies in the pop-culture world by declaring that she had no interest in participating in a “Twilight” movie sountrack. “They asked me,” she revealed. “Luckily Jimmy [Iovine, chairman of Interscope] had beef with the ‘Twilight’ people. So he stepped in and told them to f— off.” What do you think of M.I.A.’s comments? Tell us in the comments! Related Photos The Evolution Of: Lady Gaga Related Artists M.I.A. Lady Gaga

Caresse Henry, Madonna’s Former Manager, Found Dead

She also managed Ricky Martin, Jessica Simpson, Joss Stone and Paula Abdul. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna Photo: Valery Hache /Getty Images Madonna’s former manager, Caresse Henry, has died at age 44, CNN reports. Henry worked with Madonna for about a decade, up until 2004, and has also managed a number of other artists, including Ricky Martin, Jessica Simpson, Joss Stone, Paula Abdul and Andrew Dice Clay. She is survived by her two children, Honour Kristen Norman and Ava Caresse Hinojosa, who both live in Los Angeles. Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, released a statement to CBS News explaining that Henry “died suddenly” in Irvine, California, where she lived, on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held April 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Westwood, California. “Despite rumors to the contrary, the cause of death has not been determined and is currently under investigation,” the CBS statement continued. In a statement to CNN, Rosenberg said, “The family has requested that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.” Henry also reportedly worked as a personal assistant to Madonna, and she’s credited as an artistic manager and executive producer on Madonna: Drowned World Tour 2001. According to various reports, Henry and Madonna parted ways in 2004 after rumors spread that Madonna fired Henry due to the pop star’s faith in Kabbalah; at the time, it was also reported that Henry quit. Musician Jimmy Demers, who was managed by Henry, wrote a piece for the Huffington Post remembering his pal. “I’m not sure what details led her to this dark moment of hopelessness, and I’m not sure there was anything anyone could have done to save her,” he wrote in response to reports that Henry had committed suicide, which has not been confirmed.
