Justin Bieber Guest Editing Vanity Fair‘s Facebook Page

‘I’m proud of my interview and cover,’ the pop singer writes online of his cover story in the magazine’s latest issue. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber on the February 2011 cover of Vanity Fair Photo: Art Streiber / Conde Nast Not only is Justin Bieber the subject of a coveted cover story in Vanity Fair ‘s latest issue , the teenage pop superstar has been tapped to guest edit the magazine’s Facebook page. “This week, the Vanity Fair Facebook page gets its first-ever guest editor: Justin Bieber!” the magazine announced on the website on Monday (January 10). “Check back later today for exclusive content, video, and giveaways …” For his first post on the site (the only one the pop star had contributed as of press time), Bieber gave fans a quick synopsis of what he’ll be up to this week. “Pretty cool that I get to host the Vanity Fair Facebook page this week. I’m proud of my interview and cover — it was the most intense interview I’ve ever done,” he shared. “Gonna be a fun week — make sure you make some comments because I will send one random fan who writes in the comments section a signed copy of my book. LEGGOOOO!” Michael Hogan, executive online editor, talked about Bieber’s guest-editor gig in a statement to MTV News: “The genius of Facebook is the way it enables people to talk to each other in a whole new way, and Vanity Fair is uniquely positioned to give our fans a whole new way of interacting with the world’s most fascinating people. With 18 million Facebook fans, 6 million Twitter followers, and more than 1 billion YouTube views, Justin Bieber is the quintessential modern celebrity phenomenon, and we’re thrilled to have him as the first (of many, we hope) guest editor of Vanity Fair ‘s Facebook page.” It’s not the first time that the young singer has claimed a website for his own. Last April, as a prank, Bieber took over Funny or Die , renaming the site “Funny or Bieber.” During his 24-hour reign over the site, he posted videos mocking his pop star status. “Justin Bieber has decided to buy Bieber or Die,” a message on the website read. “And do with it whatever his tiny little heart desires.” Will you be following Vanity Fair ‘s Facebook page while Bieber serves as guest editor? Inside Nicki Minaj’s V Magazine Spread

As we told you, V Magazine tapped Nicki Minaj for the cover of their January 2011 “Discovery Issue.” In it, the Young Money mistress dons black face paint and pink lipstick for the shoot photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinood Matadin. Besides her standout look, the magazine features Minaj speaking on her infamous alter egos. According to Minaj she lets her “voices speak” and enjoys being a different person when she pleases. “I just always want to do ‘me’, but ‘me’ changes every day…I would crumple up and die if I had to wake up and be the same person every day. I don’t silence those voices anymore. I just let them speak.” Following the shoot, Minaj was obviously pleased with the end results and took to her Twitter page to encourage fans to check out her most “bad a** shoot to date.” Check out the photos from the spread at HipHopWired.com

Justin Bieber’s Magazine Covers Chart His Meteoric Rise

Teen sensation’s Vanity Fair cover follows a spate of increasingly high-profile mag appearances. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber on February cover of Vanity Fair Photo: Art Streiber / Conde Nast Justin Bieber first appeared on teen magazines like J-14 and Tiger Beat alongside fellow idols like the Jonas Brothers, but Bieber quickly established himself as a marquee cover boy. He was soon being profiled by industry publications like Billboard and embraced by mainstream mags like People. Bieber’s first big solo cover was the March 27, 2010, issue of Billboard. On the cover, Bieber sported a cardigan and those signature bangs while holding up a boom box. That appearance was quickly followed by his April 19, 2010, People magazine cover, which came out just weeks after the release of his My World 2.0. Early on, Bieber proved he was comfortable on shoots. “He’s always been a natural in front of the camera,” said Melissa Victor, VP, Media & Artist Relations at Island Def Jam Music Group. “I don’t think that kid can take a bad frame.” By the summer, Bieber was making headlines as teen magazines began proclaiming they had “Bieber Fever.” He covered Seventeen ‘s June/July issue and Teen Vogue ‘s October edition. “He has very strong ideas of how he wants to look,” Victor said of the Island Def Jam artist’s visual evolution. “His mom is already working on a scrapbook of all his covers,” she revealed. “She requests every single cover no matter how big or small; everything from J-14 to People magazine.” In addition to making the covers of some of the entertainment industry’s most popular magazines, the singer also scored some memorable profiles in places like VMAN, Interview and Elle, in which he waded on the beach with Kim Kardashian . With his latest cover for Vanity Fair, Bieber shows he’s growing in terms of his public image, from teen heartthrob to pop superstar — one who can be appreciated by both teens and adults. “Justin loves his core audience but it is important for him to continue to evolve as an artist, and with that evolution we want to insure that more and more people of all ages embrace his music,” she said. “It is great that these magazines have been there to chronicle his journey.” 2011 already looks to be a massive year for Bieber , and Vanity Fair is just the beginning. “He so honored and excited to grace the cover of Vanity Fair . He knows he is in great company, he doesn’t take it for granted at all,” Victor said. “This is has been a great way to kick off the New Year. But this is just the beginning. His fans can rest assured they will continue to get their ‘Bieber Fix.’ ” What do you think of Justin’s Vanity Fair cover? Tell us in the comments! Lil Justin Bieber Covers Vanity Fair

“I’m crazy, I’m nuts,” teen heartthrob Justin Bieber tells Vanity Fair. “Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal. I think differently—my mind is always racing. I’m just … nuts. But I think the best [musicians] probably are.” The 16-year-old tells the magazine that his mind is so active that he sometimes he suffers from insomnia. It happens because he begins to “think about all the things I didn’t have time to think about during the day — like family and God …” Of he challenges of trying to be a regular kid, he says, “It’s hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home. But I can’t do that…. Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too. Even if I’m angry, I’ll just put a smile on my face and fake it. I don’t often fake it—what’s me is me….I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life.” Source
