Glee Season Three Preview: Dodgeball!

Enough with the off-camera shenanigans. Who is coming? Who is staying? Which cast members are in danger this week? Glee fans just want their slushies and their songs back. Fortunately, Fox has released a new promo for season three and it focuses on the fun aspects of the show: Sue Sylvester with a dodgeball, Asian Mike protecting his girlfriend, Coach Beiste swatting the object away, Emma cleaning up the mess. Not only is Olivia Wilde open to appearing partially nude in movies — as she does in Cowboys & Aliens and the upcoming Change-Up , but she is totally down to talk about said partial nudity at length in interviews. Earlier this week, she admitted that her own exposed behind in the latter film was a surprise, even to her, and the other night on a special Jon Favreau-directed episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! , the actress told the host (and all of America) about the CGI movie magic involved in her topless Change-Up scene with Ryan Reynolds.

Alonso’s Oscar Picks: The Kids Are All Right, The Oscars Are Not

When I was a little kid, I really, really, really loved the Oscars. For a wee gay movie-obsessed lad growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, it was the sort of annual event to be anticipated with both excitement and reverence. Every year when we’d get the TV Guide issue with the full-page “Close-Up” box on the Oscars, featuring thumbnail pictures of the ten Best Actor and Actress nominees, my heart would race. Before I was old enough that my parents would let me stay up late and watch the whole thing (this was back when the show began at 9 p.m. on the East Coast), I somehow convinced them to nudge me awake at midnight, tell me who won in the major categories, and then I’d roll over and go back to sleep.

Let’s just get this out of the way up front: Great job, Academy ! That the AMPAS found room for everything from Winter’s Bone to Toy Story 3 to the ferocious performance given by Movieline favorite Jacki Weaver means they deserve a bit of kudos. (If you’re one of those, “Yawn, I’m too cool for the Oscars!” people, just go back to bed today.) Of course that doesn’t mean many, many deserving nominees were left out in the cold this morning. Ahead, the six biggest from the major categories.
