“Music, for me, is like a weed that keeps springing up,” says Jeff Bridges at the beginning of this six-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of his self-titled album due out in August. The Oscar-winning star has been playing music since he was a teen, but it was Crazy Heart that really renewed his vigor in the performance art. Funny thing? He’s pretty great! I can usually judge whether I like a person based on how much they love Jean-Claude Van Damme. Do they relish in the grace of Bloodsport ? The glory of Kickboxer ? The sad-looking Raul Julia of Street Fighter ? Then they are fine citizens. I hope those mensches are as torqued as I am for Assassination Games , the new Van Damme joint with a red band trailer that just arrived at our doorstep. Do I smell Oscar in the air? Or is that just the nutritional allure of raw brussel sprouts?

Wesley Snipes Was Smart Enough to Avoid Major League II

Sports Illustrated looked back on 22 years of Major League by interviewing nearly everyone involved in the making of the sports classic with one notable exception: the incarcerated Wesley Snipes . Not that he would have wanted to contribute anyway. “A couple years after Major League I saw Wesley,” recalled co-star Corbin Bernsen. “I said, “Hey, man, they’re gonna make Major League II !” And he was like, ‘You’re gonna do that?’ And I thought, ‘Wow, how quickly they forget.’ He’d become Wesley Snipes.
