Kanye West Drops ‘Monster’ Single With Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj

Rick Ross and Bon Iver also appear on the song from West’s joint album with Jay, Watch the Throne. By Mawuse Ziegbe Jay-Z and Kanye West Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage Kanye West is making good on his word. The outspoken MC announced Sunday that he’ll be dropping a new track every Friday until Christmas with his “G.O.O.D. Friday” campaign. On Friday (August 27), West posted “Monster” on his KanyeUniversecity.com blog , an eclectic all-star collaboration featuring contributions from Jay-Z, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj. West collaborator Bon Iver also lends his folky vibe to the track. The Chi-Town lyricist tweeted that the track was the second offering from Watch the Throne, his newly-announced joint album with Jay-Z . An ominous chorus of distorted vocals opens the track just before Ricky Rozay kicks off his verse over the beat, which is a meaty slice of choppy, drum-driven boom-bap. “Bitch, I’m a monster/ No good bloodsucker/ Fat mother—-er/ Now look who’s in trouble,” Ross spits. Then Kanye enters the fray: “Gossip, gossip/ N—a, just stop it/ Everybody know/ I’m a mother—-in’ monster.” Yeezy rides the beat with several more hard-hitting, bravado-laden bars, unapologetically feeling himself as he wraps up with “My presence is a present/ Kiss my ass.” Hov abandons his typical crisp, cool lyricism and attacks his verse with a hungry, almost sinister flow. “Sasquatch, Godzilla, King Kong, Loch Ness/ Goblin, ghoul, a zombie with no conscience/ Question: What do these things all have in common?/ Everybody knows I’m a mother—-in’ monster,” Jay rhymes. Although the track surfaced the same day Minaj tweeted about supposedly marrying Drake , the Young Money Barbie shows no signs of possibly being mellowed by a relationship, delivering a collection of punch lines buoyed by her trademark energy. “Pull up in a monster/ Automobile gangsta/ With a bad bitch that came from Sri Lanka/ Yeah, I’m in that Tonka/ Color of Willie Wonka/ You can be the king but watch the queen conquer,” Minaj rhymes. Drake And Nicki Minaj Tweet About Getting Married

‘Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham,’ Drizzy tweets. By Mawuse Ziegbe Drake Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage It seems like two members of the Young Money family just got a lot closer. On Friday (August 27), Nicki Minaj and Drake seemingly announced on their Twitter pages that they are married. “U scurred? @drakkardnoir u ready to make the announcement or wha?” Minaj tweeted Friday afternoon. Drizzy responded about an hour later with, “Baby I am never scared. PROUD is more the word I would use,” before tweeting , “Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She’s finally mine. :).” The hip-hip diva re-tweeted Drake’s missive and added , “Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot.” A rep for their label had no comment when MTV News reached out Friday. Hip-hop heads have speculated about Drake and Minaj’s relationship before, and buzz spiked when fans heard a very eyebrow-raising line on Drizzy’s “Miss Me” single. “I love Nicki Minaj/ I told her I’d admit it/ I hope one day we get married just to say we f—ing did it/ And girl, I’m f—ing serious/ I’m with it if you with it/ ‘Cause your verses turn me on, and your pants are mighty fitted,” the Toronto MC spits. In June, Drizzy told DJ Envy on MTV2’s “Sucker Free Countdown” that he had genuine feelings for Minaj. “I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother,” Drake said. However, Minaj batted away any ideas that Drake is anything more than just her sometime partner-in-rhyme. “Drake does not have a crush on me,” Minaj assured Envy. “Drake knows how to get you guys’ attention.” What do you think about Nicki Minaj and Drake tweeting that they are married? Asher Roth Remembers ‘Suburban Threat’ Crew On ‘When I Was 17’

MC recalls hanging with fellow hip-hop heads on the latest episode, premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. By Mawuse Ziegbe Asher Roth appears on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Asher Roth hit the hip-hop scene with a slew of mixtapes, which culminated with his cheeky 2009 debut LP Asleep in the Bread Aisle. His breakout single “I Love College,” an ode to the copious amounts of boozing and debauchery that comes with the pursuit of higher education, cemented his status as an inventive, fun-loving rap star. So it makes sense that he rocked a hip-hop career, because when Roth was 17, it was all about the music. “In high school, I ended up finding my home with kids who had one common interest, and that’s hip-hop music,” Roth says on the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” which premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. The episode also features teenage tales from former Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson , who reminisces about putting the moves on her high school soccer coach, and Ozzy offspring Kelly Osbourne, who despite having spent many of her formative years on the MTV reality show “The Osbournes,” dishes about other memorable moments as a teen. Roth and his circle recall their shared love of hip-hop. “We’d be carrying boomboxes around in our book-bags like we were straight out of the ’80s,” says Roth’s homie Brian. “We started meeting regularly around school.” Roth reveals that in addition to a penchant for retro b-boy style, his crew went by an intimidating moniker: “We were called ‘Suburban Threat,’ ” Roth says. Even Roth’s mom can vouch for the crew’s intimidation factor. “They were boys from the suburbs, not boys from the ‘hood,” Roth’s mother says, before adding with a laugh, “And that could be threatening.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Kendra Wilkinson, Asher Roth and Kelly Osbourne — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Jay-Z To Discuss ‘Decoded’ Memoir At New York Public Library

Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards will also speak about his memoir, “Life,” this fall. By Mawuse Ziegbe Jay-Z and Keith Richards Photo: Getty Images Jay-Z is releasing his memoir “Decoded” this fall, but the superstar lyricist will have to keep things quiet during one of his upcoming public appearances. The Brooklyn MC is slated to speak at the New York Public Library on November 15. Jigga will chat about “Decoded” as part of the “Live From the NYPL” fall series, which also features literary stars such as Toni Morrison and Zadie Smith. The library appears to be down with making some noise next season, as Jay-Z isn’t the only musical artist hitting the library: Rolling Stones rocker Keith Richards will also dish about his upcoming tome, “Life,” on October 29. “We’re very excited to reveal to the public a different side of their personality — the literary side!” a rep for the library told MTV News. “Decoded,” which is scheduled to hit shelves the same month as his library appearance, is a memoir punched up by insightful explorations of Jay’s hard-hitting rhymes. The book was penned in collaboration with journalist Dream Hampton and delves into his steady rise from pushing product on the streets of Brooklyn to stacking hits as one of the most revered lyricists in the game. The publication of “Decoded” will cap a long period in which the MC’s autobiography remained in literary limbo. Hov and Hampton had initially begun work on “The Black Book” in 2003, which was set to be released in 2004 via a deal with MTV Books/ Pocket Books. Hov pulled the plug on the project in 2005. In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, Jigga admitted that “Decoded,” which is now being published by Speigel & Grau , has been completed for years. The MC revealed that his hesitance to release the project stemmed from the personal nature of the subject matter, much of which Hov was confronting for the first time. “It’s too much. For the book, I was interviewed, people close to me were interviewed. So I was learning a lot of things I didn’t know as a child,” Jay-Z said. “It’s not anything I haven’t said in the past, in songs. It’s just more detailed. A song is three minutes long. A book doesn’t have to rhyme, and it has no time limit, so you can say exactly how everything went.” What do you think Jay-Z will discuss in his upcoming memoir? Let us know in the comments below! Heidi Montag Regrets Breast Implants

‘I’m desperate to go back to normal,’ Montag tells Life and Style. By Mawuse Ziegbe Heidi Montag Photo: Denise Truscello/ WireImage Heidi Montag might be slowly returning to the fresh-faced Colorado girl viewers met when MTV’s “The Hills” premiered four years ago. After splitting from publicity-hungry “Hills” co-star Spencer Pratt , she recently agreed with former bestie Lauren Conrad that her soon-to-be-ex-husband, who is reportedly shopping around a sex tape starring Montag , is “sucky.” In addition to distancing herself from her Speidi past, Montag is trying to re-establish her natural look and has said she wants to remove her massive breast implants. “I’m desperate to go back to normal,” Montag told Life & Style magazine. “I’m downgrading and going a little smaller, to a D or a double D,” said the reality star, whose cup size has been reported to be in the DDD to G range. Montag made headlines earlier this year when she unveiled her plastic-surgery makeover . The starlet underwent 10 procedures in a single day, which included revisiting her already-enhanced breasts. However, she recently revealed that the implants make mundane activities, like embracing her pets, more difficult and force her to stick to specially made clothing. “I’m obsessed with fitness, but it’s impossible to work out with these boobs. It’s heartbreaking. I can’t live an everyday life,” Montag lamented. Montag’s predicament has been complicated by the recent, unexpected death of her plastic surgeon, Dr. Frank Ryan , who the starlet said “knows everything” about her procedures. Montag is reportedly on the hunt for a doctor in South America who may be able to perform her desired surgical revamps. “There’s just no fixing it,” Montag said. “Dr. Ryan knows the work he did.” The sometime singer and “Hills” celeb has also opened up about switching another aspect of her persona: her hair. “I haven’t colored my roots for four months,” Montag tweeted on Monday. “I want my hair to be natural and healthy for the first time in years! What do you think? Let it go?” What do you think about Heidi Montag regretting her breast implants? Let us know in the comments below! Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin Of ‘True Blood’ Marry

The co-stars tie the knot in Malibu. By Mawuse Ziegbe Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (file) Photo: Getty Images The couple that gets naked together apparently stays together. Days after “True Blood” co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer appeared nude on the cover of Rolling Stone (flanked by fellow “Blood” actor Alexander Skarsgard), the couple engaged in a more modest declaration of their love, and wed on Saturday in California. According to UsMagazine.com, the duo got married at a private home in Malibu. The nuptials were attended by guests such as Elijah Wood and “Blood” co-star Carrie Preston. Paquin, who plays psychic server Sookie, and Moyer, who brings the heat as vampire Bill, struck up a romance after portraying lovers on the HBO hit. The onscreen couple went public with their offscreen relationship in early 2009 and announced their engagement last August. Moyer told MTV News earlier this year that he had no doubt he and his “Blood” flame, who recently revealed that she was bisexual , were going to spend their lives together. “She wasn’t going to say no [to my proposal],” Moyer said. “Are you crazy?” The duo are continuing a Hollywood tradition of finding love on set , and Paquin recently explained that there are ups and downs to mixing business with pleasure. “You don’t want to bring personal stuff to work,” Paquin said in a recent issue of Self magazine. However, she did insist that she feels lucky to be able to mix it up with her man on the job. “It’s a luxury to get to go to work with the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, because I love my job and I’m really happy.” Leave your well-wishes for the couple below! Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’s Charles Haddon Dead At 22

Haddon reportedly committed suicide after performing at Belgium’s Pukkelpop festival. By Mawuse Ziegbe Charles Haddon of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool Photo: Shirlaine Forrest/ WireImage Charles Haddon, lead singer of the British synth-pop trio Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, reportedly took his own life on Friday. He was 22. According to reports, the frontman plummeted from a telecommunications mast onto a parking lot after performing at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium. According to BBC News, police are handling the incident as a suicide. “We are all so deeply saddened to confirm that our friend Charlie Haddon passed away yesterday, Friday 20th August,” the band said in a statement posted on their MySpace page Saturday (August 21). Pukkelpop organizers confirmed the tragedy as well. “After performing with his band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, singer Charles Haddon decided to take his own life,” festival organizers said in a statement, according to the Guardian. “Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends.” The electro-pop outfit was in the midst of a tour, and a schedule posted on their MySpace page shows that the trio had concerts lined up through October. Upcoming dates include slots at Australia’s Parklife festival and a string of headlining dates in their native U.K. NME reports that on Saturday Ou Est Le Swimming Pool cohorts La Roux dedicated their performance at the U.K.’s V festival to their late friend. “Yesterday a friend of ours died. His name was Charley and he was from Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. They supported us on tour, and he died yesterday at Pukkelpop. So the whole of the set is for him really,” La Roux singer Elly Jackson said. “Can we have a big hand for Charley please?” Share your memories of Charles Haddon in the comments below.

Wiz Khalifa Declines Drake’s Offer To Join Tour

The Pittsburgh MC tells XXL he’s flattered but has to ‘keep focusing’ on his own work. By Mawuse Ziegbe Wiz Khalifa Photo: Rostrum Records It looks like fans will have to wait to catch Drake and Wiz Khalifa on the same bill. In a much-watched Ustream convo with fans on Thursday, Drizzy extended an invitation to Khalifa to join his upcoming Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour . However, the Pittsburgh MC said he won’t be added to the Nightmares lineup, which also features Clipse and Bun B, and has decided to focus on his own Waken Baken string of dates. “No disrespect to [Drake] or anybody else who might wanna see me do some more collaborative things, but to keep building and keep my brand as strong as what it is, I gotta keep focusing on what it is,” Khalifa told XXLmag.com on Friday (August 20). “This is my first tour that I got coming up, the Waken Baken Tour. I gotta at least kick that off and make that what it is so we can do 10 more.” The Kush & OJ MC clarified that although he’ll be working the performance circuit solo, it’s all love when it comes to Drake. Khalifa confided that Drizzy’s offer proves he’s on the right track. “Just the fact of cuz even extending his hand and me being on his radar is tight to me. It just lets me know that I’m doing what I need to be doing as far as staying relevant and staying poppin’,” Khalifa said. “But I think to keep me poppin’ and keep me relevant I gotta stay building on top of what I’m doing and what I been doing.” Khalifa also added that he needs to stay on his grind until he can stack paper like Drizzy. “I was looking on the Internet and [saw] that [Drake] made $10 million this year,” Khalifa said. “So maybe when I make $10 million, then we can tour.” The MC added that while he won’t be an official Nightmares act, he may make a special appearance in certain cities. “We can do like some special dates or some surprise guest-type thing, but I need 10 mil too, Drake,” Khalifa said, ribbing the Toronto lyricist. Drake Confirms November 5 Lil Wayne Homecoming Concert

Drizzy also pleads with Wiz Khalifa to join him on Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour during Ustream broadcast. By Mawuse Ziegbe Drake Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage Drake is doing it big right now. The Toronto MC’s debut album, Thank Me Later, is platinum, he’s about to headline his upcoming Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour and he’s just notched 1 million Twitter followers. With that type of success, there’s probably very little that is out of the lyricist’s reach. But Drake revealed that there is one thing he wants that he hasn’t been able to secure yet: snagging Wiz Khalifa as his tourmate. “I had a little bit of a fan moment, I tried to get this third cat on my tour,” Drizzy told more than 30,000 fans who logged on to check him out live on Ustream on Thursday (August 19). The broadcast came on the heels of the premiere of his “Miss Me” video with Lil Wayne. Apparently, Drake was keeping his plan to add another act to his tour on the low. “You know we was trying to get Wiz on the tour,” he said, simultaneously informing listeners and his team who were hanging out in the room and clearly didn’t know what he was referring to. The MC then addressed his fans once again: “Hopefully, the Light Dreams [and] Nightmares Tour, depending on what city we go to, it’ll be Clipse, Bun B and Wiz Khalifa . That’s what I’m hoping. I don’t know, maybe I spoke too soon.” Clipse were already confirmed to join the Young Money MC on the road, along with Houston O.G. Bun B, when the tour kicks off on September 20 in Miami. The chart-topping singer and rapper asked the “Hottest Breakthrough MC” directly about possibly joining the fall tour. “If Wiz by any chance watches this, you gotta make some calls for me and make this happen,” Drake said. “We got that young energy right now, we need to go out here and kill these people.” In addition to making his plea for a more Taylor Gang-friendly Light Dreams tour lineup, the MC said he really wants to work with producer 9th Wonder on the follow-up to Thank Me Later. “9th, can we start this next album please?” Drake asked. “Because I know you in the studio,” he added, urging the North Carolina artist to work on his sophomore effort, which Drizzy hopes to release by next year. The rapper also revealed that he initially wanted the ex-Little Brother beatsmith to contribute to Later, but wasn’t able to make it happen. “I’d greatly appreciate it if we could get some work done because I know last time we weren’t able to do that.” While his touring and production rosters are still up in the air, Drake said he could confirm to fans that one particular event is a definite: a homecoming concert for Lil Wayne. “November 5, the Welcome Home Weezy concert,” Drake said. Although he didn’t reveal the location, Drizzy assured fans they wouldn’t want to miss it. “That’s gonna be crazy,” Drizzy smiled. “I told you I got you. I would never just Ustream and talk about nothing.” Do you think Drake and Wiz Khalifa should tour together? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Drake Lil Wayne Wiz Khalifa
