Paramore Taking A Break In 2011 To Record New Album

‘We’re kind of at the end of this [ Brand New Eyes ] record but it’s bittersweet,’ Taylor York tells MTV News. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Taylor York Photo: MTV News Paramore is definitely wrapping up the decade on top with a year that included a slew of chart-ruling hits and a huge cross-country trek. So it’s not surprising that when MTV News cornered Hayley Williams and Taylor York at the Z100 Jingle Ball red carpet on Friday, they couldn’t stick to just one highlight of the year. Instead, they obliged us with a few of their major 2010 moments. “[There’s] been so many big ones,” Williams said. “We got to play the VMAs , we went on the biggest US tour we’ve done to date, played two shows at the O2 arena in London. It’s just been like, one thing after another. [It’s like a] high climb and I hope we get to keep climbing for a little bit longer.” York said that the crew doesn’t have much lined up for last few remaining weeks of 2010, but revealed they plan to retreat from the spotlight in 2011 to tinker on an upcoming album. “The year has kind of been topped. We don’t have much more for the rest of this year. We’re going a tour in South America and then we’re taking time off and we’re writing for a new record,” he said. Although a new project beckons, York admitted that moving on from the success of Brand New Eyes is a bit difficult. “We’re kind of at the end of this record but it’s bittersweet.” As the band heads off to craft their fourth LP, Williams said they plan to take the same time-tested approach to making new music that proved successful with their previous work. Although their “Twilight” soundtrack smash “Decode” was penned on the road , the frontwoman maintained they prefer to knock out a record at their home base in Tennessee. “We wrote ‘Decode’ [while on tour] … we didn’t expect it and then everything happened with that one and so that was good. You never know,” she conceded. “We like to do it at home mostly. We like to wait and kind of really focus on the records when we have time off.” What do you think Paramore’s new album will sound like? Let us know in the comments! Selena Gomez Talks Justin Bieber Pancake Outing

Gomez bats away rumors of romance, saying, ‘We were both performing in the same place so we went and had pancakes together.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have been pals for a while, but rumors that the teen stars are more than friends ramped up when the pair were recently spotted getting pancakes arm-in-arm. Despite the mild PDA, Gomez denied there were any romantic overtones to the outing, saying instead that the duo were just getting a quick bite eat while they both had some free time in Philadelphia. “It was pancakes. Who doesn’t like pancakes?” Gomez told MTV News at the Jingle Ball 2010 in New York Friday, where she and the Biebs both hit the stage. “We were both performing in the same place so we went and had pancakes together. That’s all it is. All innocent.” In fact, Gomez has said the Canadian teen idol is more a brother and than a lover, explaining in February that she started looking out for Bieber as he started his journey toward superstardom. “I love Justin. When he first started to come over from Canada his manager contacted me and he just said that he would like to meet me and he was just such a good kid,” she explained. “And I feel like a big sister now, ’cause I want to protect him. So I’m always very cautious with him, but he is so talented and he’s so sweet, so that just started us wanting to work together. Now he’s just become one of my good friends.” Gomez is also rooting for her good friend at the 2011 Grammys where the pop sensation is up for two trophies, including Best New Artist. When asked who she thinks would take home the hardware between Bieber and fellow Canadian heartthrob Drake, Gomez put her money on the “Baby” crooner. “I would have to say Bieber just because I know how hard he works,” she told MTV News earlier this week. “I hope he wins, but I love Drake as well. It’s a really hard category so I don’t know who’s going to win, but of course I have to say Bieber.” What do you think Selena Gomez’ comments about Justin Bieber? Let us know in the comments! ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Ronnie Recalls Losing His Virginity At 17

On Saturday’s ‘When I Was 17,’ everybody’s favorite juicehead remembers his first time. By Mawuse Ziegbe Ronnie Photo: MTV News We’ve seen “Jersey Shore” juicehead Ronnie get into a lot types of scrapes on the boardwalk, but as it turns out, he has always had a penchant for, ahem, outdoor activities. On an all-“Jersey Shore” episode of “When I Was 17,” which also features stories from Ron Ron’s girl Sammi and Staten Island native Vinny, Ronnie remembers the first time he had sex. “When I was 17 I lost my virginity,” Ronnie admits. Ronnie’s friend T.J. adds that the event happened in someone else’s ride, and that that person wasn’t aware of it — until now. “Ronnie lost his virginity in the back seat of my grandmother’s Camry,” T.J. reveals. “The worst part about that is that she still drives it, so I’m probably gonna catch crap for this.” “When you’re young, the place to have sex is in the car,” Ronnie rationalizes. The Bronx native explains the spur-of-the-moment nature of how everything went down. “It just happened randomly,” he says. “[I was] hanging out on the corner with my friend and some girl walks up to him and she’s like, ‘Your friend’s hot. I wanna hook up.’ We went to go find a nice quiet spot … literally down the block.” Although for Ronnie, where the hook-up happened didn’t really matter that much. “I’m about to get laid for the first time. I’m like, I’ll do it on the hood of the car right now, I don’t care,” he says. Even though it was his debut run knockin’ boots, Ron had an audience checking out the moment. “My friends were watching from the car behind me. They were like watching through the window and stuff like that,” he recalls. “We were looking, he had the windows down,” T.J. admits. “It was a pretty wild scene.” Ronnie also discusses his technique for making love in such a tight space. “I just pretty much did the head tuck. You tuck your head in between her head and her shoulders and you just like 1, 2, 3, 4. Like three pumps … and you’re done,” he says. “It’s awesome.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Ronnie, Vinny and Sammi — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/PT on MTV. Justin Bieber Tells Barbara Walters He’ll ‘Probably’ Cut Hair ‘Soon’

Teen phenom also opens up about kissing girls and his getting in trouble in “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010” special. By Mawuse Ziegbe Justin Bieber on ABC’s “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010” on Thursday Photo: ABC If there’s anyone who can get the scoop from Justin Bieber , it’s Barbara Walters, and the veteran news anchor flexed her impressive ability to sniff out a scoop by getting the teen phenom to make a shocking confession: he’s chopping off his hair. During her “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010” sit-down with the Canadian sensation Thursday night, Walters asked Bieber the question that likely keeps girls around the world up at night: will Justin ever lop off those luscious locks? “I’m gonna cut it probably soon,” Bieber casually admitted, briefly fussing with those famous bangs. In addition to getting Bieber to reveal that he plans to clip his tresses, Walters gave viewers and inside look at the Pop&B star back in the day. Footage of Bieber as a musically-inclined baby shows that the YouTube sensation always had a gift for hamming it up for the camera. Bieber as a tot pounds away on a chair, belts in the bathroom, strums away on a guitar and mans the keyboard in old-school footage. Despite his outsize success, Bieber reveals that he still gets punished by his “strict” mom, who will take away the singer’s computer and phones if he’s messed up. In addition to getting into the occasional scrape, like many teen boys, Bieber is also dating, but insisted he does not have a girlfriend — despite getting caught sucking face with Jasmine Villegas in a the back seat of a car. As far as the future of Bieber fever, the teen said he wants to be a “mix between Prince and Michael Jackson.” When asked what he would name a ditty about his rise from an impoverished kid to a global megastar, Bieber offered a fairly appropriate title: “This Crazy Life.” What did you think of the Barbara Walters special? Paul Rudd Won’t Appear In Jason Segel’s ‘Muppet’ Movie

‘I wish that I was. It’s all rumor,’ star tells MTV News. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Paul Rudd Photo: MTV News With Jason Segel helming a spankin’ new “Muppet” flick , fans have been buzzing that many of the funnyman’s guffaw-inducing pals would show up for the fun. One story that has been making the rounds was that Segel’s “I Love You, Man” co-star Paul Rudd was slated to appear as an iPhone-obsessed puppet pal of Segel’s character. However, when MTV News caught up with Rudd recently, the star crushed the collective dreams of Judd Apatow acolytes everywhere, explaining that a cameo alongside Kermit’s crew is just not in the cards right now. “I wish that I was. It’s all rumor,” Rudd confided at the Gotham Awards last week. “I wanted to be in it, and I talked to Jason but I think there was some things that happened and I don’t know if I’m gonna get to do it.” As many would be, he’s totally torn up about missing out on the Muppet-fest. “It blows actually,” he pouted playfully. “It really sucks.” Up next, fans can catch Rudd alongside Jennifer Aniston as a broke couple that decide to take up residence at a commune in the Apatow-helmed “Wanderlust.” But after that, Rudd quipped that he wanted another crack at the Muppet franchise, and even came up with a few inspired titles for a sequel to Segel’s project. “I’m hoping for the ‘Muppet Movie 2.’ I’m playing Charles Grodin in ‘Muppet 2: Electric Waterloo?’ Beaker-loo?” he joked, before offering a truly game-changing suggestion: “Muppet Movie 2: The Muppets Are Still Taking Manhattan.” Even with Rudd officially out the mix, the confirmed lineup of guest stars should pack the film with plenty of laughs. Jack Black, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Crystal and Alan Arkin are all slated to appear in the project. The film — which is powered by voice-over performances from Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi — snatched up $21.5 million its second weekend in theaters. The flick’s total estimated gross is nearing the $100 million mark with about $96 million picked up so far. Although it’s already blasted past both the $100 million and $200 million box-office mark, “Potter” appears to be losing some of its momentum. The film picked up $16.7 million over the weekend, which pushes the flick’s total estimated gross to around $244 million. “Burlesque” limped behind the “Tangled” and “Potter” in third place. Audiences doled out $6.1 million to catch Cher and Christina Aguilera’s musically-driven flick about a down-on-her-luck club owner and her starry-eyed young prot
