White Folks Don’t Know How To Act!: Phantom Punch Knocks Out Crooked Mayor?! [Video]

It’s safe to say that that sleepy little town of Windermere has seen it’s share of controversy as of late. In 2009, the eyes of the national media turned to the affluent Orange County community near Orlando after it was reported that Tiger Woods had crashed his SUV. That was just the beginning of what would become one of the biggest celebrity sex scandals in recent history. Last year, the town’s police chief, Daniel Saylor, was arrested after agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said he utilized his position to hinder an investigation into sexual battery allegations against a friend. Saylor, 44, was charged with one count of giving unlawful compensation for official behavior, a second-degree felony, and one count official misconduct, a third-degree felony. And on Tuesday night, a town council meeting was abruptly interrupted when the husband of the town manager and Mayor Gary Bruhn got into a shouting match. The meeting was quickly adjourned and police officers evacuated the building, but before the room was cleared, Mayor Bruhn ended up on the floor. Officials on Wednesday said it is not clear whether Bruhn fell or was pushed as he exchanged words with Roland Bernier. But he crashed into a table and fell to the floor, where he was briefly unconscious. Paramedics arrived and transported him to a nearby hospital. The hospital was later placed on lock-down. The altercation comes a day after the FDLE released its findings into an investigation of the town’s police department. The FDLE report revealed that money, weapons and confiscated drugs were missing from the police department’s evidence and property locker. The same day, the FDLE announced additional charges levied against Daniel Saylor. Earlier Tuesday evening, Mayor Bruhn addressed the council for about 15 minutes or more, suggesting the council fire Town Manager Cecelia Bernier. He cited several of the FDLE findings regarding mismanagement of evidence, missing evidence, and an accusation that Bernier even voided traffic citations for people she knew. “Our residents’ safety was compromised by tickets being voided, cases dropped and our reputation tarnished,” he said. The mayor offered a motion that Bernier be removed. No one would second the motion so it died, which means that for now, Bernier retains her position. The council wanted to talk about the issue some more and never voted on it. That’s when Bernier’s husband went to the podium and made some heated statements. Roland Bernier left the police department Tuesday night after being questioned. He wouldn’t answer any inquiries from the media. It is still unclear if he will be charged or arrested. The case has now been handed over to the State Attorney’s Office. When asked on Wednesday if charges should be filed, Chief McCoy replied, “That is up to the State Attorney.”

Do you know where the kid are?

Original post:

If not, it could cost you in Jonesboro. The Jonesboro city council unanimously approved a curfew for teenagers,16-years old and younger, which will make parents accountable. The curfew applies after 11 pm to kids out without adult supervision. The city’s municipal court judge has yet to determine the amount of the fine. Jonesboro Mayor, Luther Maddox says police have been getting more complaints about teenagers walking the streets at “all hours of the night.” Maddox believes this curfew will help limit teen late-night activity as spring approaches and night temperatures go up.  By the way, there is a state curfew. Under the state law, if a child violates curfew, police will take them to a juvenile facility and the parents would be called to get them. The Jonesboro law will require parents pay a fine as well.

In Honor of the Potential Robocop Statue: 9 Movie-Related Statues That Already Exist

Despite objections from Mayor Dave Bing, it looks like artists in Detroit have raised enough money to build the Robocop statue that the city so desperately needs. While Detroit will likely be the first city with an half-robot policeman enshrined for future generations, it isn’t the first city to put up a film-inspired statue for all of the public to see. And a Robocop statue may not even be the most ridiculous film tribute ever built. For my money, Scotland will actually hold this honor for years to come.

Mass Police, Firefighter Layoffs Begin In Camden, NJ

These seemingly unnecessary lay offs may make more damage and empty more pockets than this state is predicting, as we’re sure they expect to save a few bucks here; while removing patrol from their violence ridden streets. With the crime rate in Camden being five times the national average according to the FBI, we have to take a second to ask ourselves, what the hell is going on? Some police officers are turning in their badges as part of deep municipal layoffs that began today and that could be a blow to the quality of life in this city, one of the nation’s most impoverished and crime-ridden. As many as 383 workers, representing one-fourth of the local government’s work force, are expected to lose their jobs, including about half the police force and one-third of the city’s firefighters. Firefighters are planning to march to City Hall today, and Mayor Dana Redd is planning a noon news conference to talk about the layoffs in a city facing a huge budget deficit and declining state aid.

Cory Booker: Can The Nation’s Most Energetic, Twitter-prolific Mayor Resuscitate New Jersey’s Largest City?

For press events, President Obama has the Rose Garden. Cory Booker has the Oprah machine — and Twitter. On a good day, Booker wins. Though mayor of a rather troubled city, Booker is as talented as Obama at cranking national headlines. Both he and the President are old hands at fielding questions from the national press corps. Both huddle with CEOs. Both have been called leaders of the “Oprah Winfrey wing of the Democratic Party.” But only Booker, the young and indefatigable mayor of Newark, New Jersey, has wielded a shovel to dig constituents out after a snowstorm, tackled a fleeing crime suspect as though he were on an opposing Super Bowl team, or appeared beside Oprah to break news about the charitable whims of a 26-year-old billionaire. And only Booker has been known to pump 15 Tweets per hour for a million followers of his 140-character messages, some of which include Bruce Springsteen lyrics, showing a keen aptitude for attracting fans of the Boss. In fact, Booker succeeds where every past Newark mayor failed. “You could say that he had very tiny shoes to fill,” said James Hughes, dean of the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. Booker’s predecessors acted more like candidates for prison than for higher office. Five of Newark’s last seven mayors have been indicted on criminal charges, including the last three — Hugh Addonizio, Kenneth Gibson and Sharpe James. “Booker,” Hughes added, “is one of Newark’s greatest resources.” But as talented, and telegenic, as Booker is, the fate of Newark is iffy. The Great Recession has rocked Newark. Poverty rules in its wards, along with piles of rubble and drug-infestation, and the city, now 54% black, is still licking wounds inflicted a generation ago during the race riots of 1967, which persuaded middle class residents to head for the hills. Combating crime was Booker’s first priority, and the city has made significant progress. Booker named a second-generation New York City cop, Garry McCarthy, as Newark police director, a move for which Booker took heat. (Long-time resident Amiri Baraka was so incensed by the appointment of a white police director in a predominantly black city that he reportedly gave the Mayor a book titled “How to Recover from the Addiction to White Supremacy.”) Read More At AtlantaPost.com
