Joe Tacopina, Myla Sinanaj’s attorney, tells TMZ … Kris has gone on a campaign of destruction against her to save his own ass in his divorce from Kim Kardashian. TMZ broke the story, Kris’ lawyers contacted the FBI, claiming Myla tried to extort him by demanding a huge sum of money or else she’d spill secrets about their relationship to the media. Tacopina tells us, “I defy them to show that she has asked for one red cent,” adding, “I challenge them to submit Kris Humphries to a polygraph and if he does I will have my client do the same. She never asked him for a penny.” But there’s more … Tacopina says Kris is a boldfaced liar by claiming Myla was a booty call. Tacopina says, “I have hundreds of text messages and phone records which show he constantly contacted her on a steady basis. He’d call her 50 times in a day.” Tacopina says Kris told Myla when pictures of them first surfaced that they had to hide the fact that they were in a relationship. Tacopina says Kris didn’t want to screw up his legal war with Kim Kardashian, adding, “It’s hard to argue you’re heartbroken when you had a steady girlfriend since January.” Tacopina says Humphries’ lawyers not only trashed Myla in the media but tried getting her fired from her hotel job. On Wednesday (June 6), the former “Hannah Montana” star announced that she will be walking down the aisle with her boyfriend of three years, Liam Hemsworth . The two met on the set of their 2009 flick “The Last Song” and have been dating on-and-off ever since. Earlier this year, the couple denied engagement rumors after Cyrus was spotted with what looked to be an engagement ring. But now, they are ready to make it official. Before Miley and Liam walk down the aisle, let’s take a walk down memory lane and relive their three-year relationship. After telling People magazine that she “is so happy to be engaged,” Cyrus took to Twitter to thank her fans for their overwhelming outpouring of well-wishes. “thank you for all the love today 🙂 I’m happy to share this news with you all,” Cyrus wrote. “I feel like all my dreams are coming true. ❤ have a great day” Now adorning Cyrus’ left hand is a stunning 3.5-carat sparkler, which Hemsworth had a hand in creating. The “Hunger Games” star teamed up with celebrity jeweler Neil Lane, who told People that Hemsworth wanted “something really beautiful and romantic” for his soon-to-be bride. The ring, which has a vintage feel, was handcrafted in 18-karat gold and is garnished with diamond floral patterns. Yet, it’s the antique center stone that truly makes this a unique and beautiful engagement ring. “It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form,” Lane said. “At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.” And, according to Lane, so did Hemsworth: “It’s everything he was looking for.” Hemsworth wasted no time in giving Cyrus the ring, which was completed last week, just in time for him to propose to Cyrus on May 31. Digital Domain Media Group is working on a ‘virtual’ Elvis for a series of film and TV projects. By Gil Kaufman Elvis Presley Photo: Getty Images We may not be getting those Left Eye, Michael Jackson or Notorious B.I.G. holograms we were hoping for anytime soon, but one of rock’s royal court will be digitally resurrected. Digital Domain Media Group, the company behind the earthshaking Tupac Shakur hologram that created a global sensation at this year’s Coachella festival announced this week that it is planning to create a virtual Elvis Presley. Working with the Core Media Group — which owns the rights to Elvis’ estate — Digital Domain said it is working on a series of “virtual” Elvis likenesses for a wide range of entertainment projects that could include everything from film and TV to “multi-platform productions throughout the world.” DDMG, the Oscar-winning folks behind the special effects in films such as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” has already started on some of the Elvis virtual renderings and plans to announce plans for a full roll-out soon. “Elvis Presley is the king of rock and roll … you have to start with the king,” Ed Ulbrich, Chief Creative Officer at Digital Domain told MTV News when asked why the company’s next major project would focus on the first wave rock star. “We’re in the creative development stages now. Instead of a single application we’re looking to bring Elvis back across a host of platforms, including live concerts in venues.” Like the Tupac stunt, Ulbrich said the Elvis rendering would not be based on archival footage, but original, exclusive performances by the King using the company’s bleeding-edge technology. He was not at liberty to describe how that process is managed, but Ulbrich promised that like in “Button” and “TRON: Legacy,” it would involve the holy grail of the industry: creating a synthetic likeness of a human being that is just as believable as the real thing. The company is in the process of building the Elvis programming now and Ulbrich said there was no timetable on when we might see the first fruits of this new experiment because the Digital Domain team is determined to take as long as necessary to get it right. “We take this very seriously because we want to pay great respect to Elvis and his legacy,” he said. In a statement announcing the deal, Elvis Presley Enterprises President and CEO, Jack Soden said, “This is a new and exciting way to bring the magic and music of Elvis Presley to life. His lifelong fans will be thrilled all over again and new audiences will discover the electric experience of Elvis the performer.” While Ulbrich said he was not at liberty to discuss what other music legends may get the Tupac/Elvis treatment next, he acknowledged that is not to say that, “we’re not talking about other things or looking at other things.” For the time being, though, the focus is on Elvis. Artists on Big Machine Records will now receive payment every time their songs are played on Clear Channel radio stations. Instead, Swift’s label, Big Machine Records, has just inked a deal with Clear Channel that will allow artists on the label to get paid for songs played on their radio stations. The label, as well as the performers on it — including heavy hitters like Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Reba McEntire — will share the revenue with Clear Channel. Before this deal, the label and its performers did not collect royalties when their songs were played on terrestrial radio; only songwriters and publishers did. Internet radio stations, however, already do pay performers and labels when their songs are played. Under the new deal, Clear Channel will be able to limit payments for songs streamed online, which will enable the growth of digital radio. “Not only does this partnership enable Big Machine to participate in terrestrial broadcast revenues, but we are also helping to grow digital radio,” Scott Borchetta, the label’s president and CEO, said. “[It’s] a great opportunity for all of us and a breakthrough opportunity for Big Machine artists.” But reportedly, it won’t end there. Aceshowbiz.com further reports that Clear Channel will approach more labels for similar deals and Big Machine may ink more of these with other radio conglomerates. “Today, 98 percent of our listening is terrestrial broadcast and 2 percent digital — with record labels and artists only paid for the 2 percent,” John Hogan, chairman and CEO of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, added in a statement about the landmark deal. “This new agreement expands label and artist participation from just digital to terrestrial broadcast radio revenue in one comprehensive framework that will give all of us a great incentive to drive the growth of the digital radio industry and allow everyone to participate financially in its growth.” This coup for Swift comes just months after she was named the top earner of 2012 by Billboard magazine on their “Music’s Top 40 Money Makers” list . Swift sits at #1 thanks to reported earnings of $35.7 million in the 2011 calendar year. She ranks so high due to quadruple-platinum-plus sales of Speak Now and its accompanying tour, which grossed $88.5 million in the U.S. alone. But she’s hardly resting on her laurels. ‘I would love to work with him, and I wouldn’t turn my nose to it,’ veteran producer tells MTV News. By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Sway Calloway Pete Rock Photo: MTV News Pete Rock made headlines last week for getting into a little tiff with Lupe Fiasco over Rock’s classic 1992 track “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.),” but the veteran producer has put the drama behind him, and now he’s focused on his upcoming projects, including a possible collaboration with the Chicago rapper. “If the artist doesn’t like something I did or said, then we could work through it with a conversation. That’s always my goal — it’s never to add fuel to the fire,” Pete Rock told MTV News of the falling out with Lupe. “I would love to get in the studio and work with him if his management team can respect me as a man, and the label can respect me as a man, and Lupe himself can respect me as a man. I would love to work with him, and I wouldn’t turn my nose to it.” While the dust settles and we wait to see if a collaboration between the two comes to fruition, Rock is prepping for his joint LP with DJ Premier, which is set to debut next year. “We’re gonna do a 20-city European tour to announce our project that we’re working on for the spring of 2013,” he explained. “I’m working with Young Money artist Cory Gunz, who grabbed 15 of my beats and he likes them all, but I’m telling him, ‘Lil homey, take your time, do whatever your process is.” Other projects in the works include an official remake of “T.R.O.Y.,” which will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Rock and C.L. Smooth’s 1992 debut LP, Mecca and the Soul Brother , rolling around June 3. “I’m bringing C.L. Smooth back out to redo ‘Reminisce’ with a couple of today’s artists,” Rock explained, although he declined to name the artists he had in mind. ‘Earth 2’ writer James Robinson tells MTV that Alan Scott, returning to DC Universe as a gay man, is ‘proud of who he is on every level.’ By Josh Wigler Green Lantern Photo: DC Comics The original Green Lantern, Alan Scott , is back in the DC Universe for the first time since last year’s companywide reboot. He’s courageous, charismatic and powerful, the same hero fans have loved and adored for decades, with just a few notable modifications — the most controversial of which involves his sexuality. DC Comics announced Friday (June 1) that Scott has been reimagined as a gay man, marking a significant change to the hero who has been around since the 1940s. His sexuality will be revealed in the pages of writer James Robinson’s “Earth 2” #2, and ahead of that, the scribe has been making the rounds, speaking with outlets all about the new Green Lantern. For those of you just tuning in, here are five things you need to know about DC’s newest gay icon: Like Son, Like Father Robinson revealed to MTV Geek that Scott’s new sexuality was partly inspired by the character’s gay son, Obsidian, who no longer exists in the rebooted DCU. “The only thing that bothered me about rebooting the character and making him younger again was that we lost his son Obsidian, who was gay — the original version, obviously, when he was an older man, with a son,” Robinson said about creating the new Green Lantern. “And then, with that in mind, I thought, ‘Well, why not make Alan Scott gay. Why not make the leader of the Justice Society gay?’ It worked on every level. I suggested it to [DC Comics co-publisher] Dan DiDio, and to be fair to Dan, there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation. He said, ‘Yeah, great, great idea.’ ” Original Green Lantern Is Gay, DC Announces Fighting for Acceptance Scott is certainly one of the more prominent gay characters in the DC Comics catalog, and even though many fans are accepting him with open arms, he’ll have his fair share of social hurtles to overcome. “One of the unfortunate things about the United States is that some states are less willing to [let] people have their personal freedoms,” Robinson told Geek. “So, in ‘Earth 2,’ some of those things are obstacles a gay person might face. But Alan Scott is a force of nature, so he would never let that stand in his way. He’s proud of who he is on every level.” Alan Scott, Media Mogul Speaking of every level, there are many layers to the new Alan Scott beyond his sexuality. One of the most important elements to the rejiggered character is that he’s in charge of a major media empire, for instance. “He’s a giant of the media industry,” the writer said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly . “By getting involved in communication, the news, and the Internet, he’s become a billionaire. He’s kind of a cross between Mark Zuckerberg and David Geffen. The original Alan Scott owned a radio station in the ’40s and ’50s, so he was a media giant then. He was this bold, heroic, brave man who took control, who would risk his life for you and be this emerald knight that was always there to protect the world.” James Robinson Speaks With MTV Geek About Green Lantern’s Sexuality An A-List Superhero Scott isn’t just a media mogul or a solo-operating superhero, either: The Green Lantern of “Earth 2” is a leader of men — specifically, the Justice Society. “He will be very much the leader of the Justice Society and a figurehead,” Robinson said in an interview with the Huffington Post . “Often, I think, gay characters, with the exception of Batwoman, are part of a team but are often aside, somewhat. Alan’s going to be at the forefront of this team, leading it, being someone that is loved and admired by the people of Earth 2. So that’s a subtle difference that I will be adding: trying to not just present a positive gay role model but someone that is a type-A superhero.” He’s Not Alone One of Robinson’s major goals for “Earth 2” is to present a cast that’s as diverse as humanly possible. To that end, the writer promised that Scott isn’t the only homosexual character in the comic. “There is another character down the line, but that character won’t be appearing for some time, so it’s probably a bit too early to talk about that,” he told the Advocate . “But this book will definitely have a diverse cast.
